30yrs old currently! I got into BJD when I was 16-17yrs old and got my first doll at 18yrs old, but my collection didn't really start to blossom until I was like mid 20's!!
35 in one week ^^; I didn’t get into dolls until my 30’s. I was always afraid of them after some bad experiences with a very creepy doll as a child, and it took me a long time of dating a collector to get over my fear, but once I did I dove in headfirst!
I'll be 23 next week! I only got my first doll in January this year, but I've been interested in bjds since about 2011-2012 I think.
Recently turned 24 and have been interested in bjds since I was in middle school! Crazy how the time flies by and style changes.
29 30! I've been interested in BJDs since I was 16, got my first at 17 after saving up from my part time job, and have been in and out of the hobby a couple of times since.
Im 22 but I got into bjds when I was 18. I love how old this hobby is. I never thought about people being twice my age and getting into the hobby in their 20s. It is becoming almost like a tradition for some people
Currently 30 years old! I've been interested in BJDs since I was in high school and got my first one (second hand) at 24-25 I believe. My first owner doll was this year though! My MDD Lily
Currently 28-years-old. Got back into BJD hobby last year-ish. I was more active when I was in a senior high school/first year of uni (like around 16-21).
As of right now I'm currently 28 and got my first doll back when I was 18 though I haven't been active in this hobby for a long time in between then and now.
I'm quickly approaching 25 (oof, when did that happen). I became aware of the hobby when I was 14 and have been actively involved on and off since I was 16.
Hello Everyone, I was just bouncing around in here thinking about the average age of a member here and thought to myself that there aren't many members of my age . This thought came from my thinking back to when I first discovered BJD's and I thought I was older than most then. Anyway to answer the main question I am 51 and I have a lovely group that started in 2004.
I always feel like I'm probably older than everyone else around me and am always surprised when I find out not only are there members around my age but there's always some that are older.
There are many of us but the ones of us that are still around here are thinning out. But I have been here for a long while even though I took a little time away to deal with life problems and issues.
Yeaaaahhhh, you're not older than "everyone else around you," @TwistedRiver. I'm now a couple of months away from 60, and I still play with My Crew. I might be one of the older men that still collect dolls here on DoA, but somehow, I even doubt that. It does seem like a lot of the younger people are leaving the hobby though. Life happens, yannow? Glad to see I'm not the only 50+ person "still playing with toys!" Ryu
*snip* Exactly! Even though I only collect BJDs (I don't like most other kinds of dolls), I love My Crew, and taking pics of them and interacting here on DoA is a fun part of this hobby! Ryu
I'll be 68 next month - yikes! - I don't feel that old! I've been a member of DOA for 15 years and owned dolls for about the same amount of time. Over the years I've dropped in and out of the hobby but my boys (and girl) have stayed with me. Right now I've surprised myself by ordering a new doll, not something I thought I would be doing again, but never say never! So, yes, definitely still in the hobby and enjoying it again.
I'm 24. I first got a pullip when I was 17 and it was my dream to make my character into doll form, so I also spent lots of time waiting patiently for the anime looking dolls to restock their little girl parts, I was going to learn how to do faceups and all but then I got pregnant and life happened. But then my friend found an even better doll to customize into my OC. So I sold the anime doll & I got my first & only BJD when I was 19. She is soooo cute, but I might have to sell her..
I would love that. I can communicate with any age of people, but we "oldies" have different insights and experiences sometimes.
I'm 32-y-o man and I got my half BJD (only the head) lately. I've never been attracted by dolls before my best friend offered me this head. Now, I can't let this boy without a body :O
I'm 23, but I've been interested in BJDs since I was 14, and I've been collecting "normal" dolls since around that time too But I just purchased my first BJD (a Resinsoul Xun) TODAY and I'm so excited about her!!
I just turned 30 this year! I've been around on and off since 2006 so I've been here for a long time. Im recently back from a multi year hiatus and so happy to be back. This hobby brings me so much joy.
25 now! (although my glitchy brain keeps trying to tell people I'm 26.) Been interested in BJD since middle school, collected dolls my entire life, got my first BJD when I was 20. ^.^
Have your Mom look through this thread, and she'll see older people and young people! Like its been said many times, "you're never too old to enjoy what makes you happy." Ryu
@ZaidaBoBaida @Ryuichi Sakuma 13 the secret is to get your mom into dolls too My mom is in her 60s and has 2 of her own to enjoy with me. All I had to do was figure out her tastes to convince her to join me
I'm 33 an my mom says stuff like this everytime she visits or when I talk about my dolls. When I collected star wars stuff she used to ask me every time if I did'nt get enough toys as a kid And trying to explain that people alot older than me also collect dolls falls to deaf ears
I'll be 34 in a few months and I've collected dolls or figures of some kind most of my life. With bjd specifically, most people tend to react more to the price tag than the fact that I'm buying a doll, or I guess in conjunction with the fact that I'm spending so much on a doll
I'm 33, I got my first doll in 2016, so when I was 28 or so, but I've been an admirer of them since long before that, it just took a while for me to be able to afford it.
I'm 18! I first took interest in the hobby when I was around 15 and got my first head for my 16th birthday. Didn't get her a body till I was around 17 and now she is finally almost complete as I finish her outfit! Been a journey so far, just recently bought my first boy entirely with my own money last month and I'm excited for him!
I am 49 and have been in this hobby for almost 10 years. Still have my first doll and have only added 25 more full dolls through the years. There are some I never touch but for some reason I can’t seem to let them go.
