After six and a half years I'm at 13 + 5 incoming (I rehomed a large part of my collection over the past eight months which allowed me to change things around a little) with the addition of 4 + 2 incoming heads
I got into this hobby on June 2016. I got 3 full dolls and 4 floating heads now and there are 3 full dolls and 1 floating head on the way.
15 and rather happy with this. No floating heads. Everyone has a body. What am I lacking? SHOES. Some need pants. Accessories. In my case, each time I thought my doll family was complete, a new one would come out that I just HAD to have. So instead of completing dolls I'd end up getting another. Now I see why people buy Full set dolls. It kind of pays off.
I have about 10-11, 4 of which are complete with the rest being full dolls that are WIPs. I also have some bodies/heads lying around that hasn't gotten a full identity yet, and a doll on layaway.
My current (and most likely final) doll team involve 2 SDs (a male and a female) plus a hamster. None of them are finished though. I have one free SD head rolling around but will be up for rehoming soon because it doesn't fit my crew.
So far I have only one BJD. Two or three more are tentatively on my wishlist, but I don't plan to order them anytime soon. My first doll needs a wardrobe before I adopt any more.
I have at the moment two 70+cm boys and one 27cm bjd. I know they dont count, but I also have 2 floating heads.
23 on-topic resin bjd. 90cm to 26cm. One on my wishlist, one more as a possible. I'd probably have fewer if I had less space and more if I didn't have playscale dolls and accessories like Barbie and Monster High, who I enjoy making dioramas for more due to availability of props and...again, space. I'm doing KonMari this year and all the dolls are among the final things awaiting the big sort and purge, and bjds last among them. I'll be very interested to see how many might not make the cut. I'm shooting for finishing the sorting and decisions by the end of the year.
I currently have three dolls. One of them I considering selling as I really want to get a female bjd.
After I sent out a bunch of dolls today ,which sold with layaway to a close friend, I have 22bjd dolls in the house plus one very damaged body I got in a ridiculously low price back then and seems off with every head I own (and I own many) , I also have numerous floating heads 27of them which I was planning to make fabric dolls with bead joints but I overastimated my resolution and commitment to this plan so the vast majority of those are useless to me and a bunch of fantasy parts that are also useless. I once had 31dolls plus a pile of heads/parts but long ago started downsizing because of space and time restrictions my plan was to go under ten and I am resolute to end up with 7 full doll bjd dolls and 3-4 heads with fabric bodies this will make everything much more manageable for me and fitting to my current circumstances.
Currently I have 12 dolls and 2 floating heads. I have another 2 dolls incoming alongside 2 more heads. One of those heads is to replace the head of a doll I got whose body I love but felt the head was too immature. When I have the money and space I have plans for another 10 or so but I also occasionally have the urge to be one of those collectors with over a hundred dolls. Maybe in the future.
I own 45 bjd's and 2 floating heads. 1 floating head on the way. I am currently on a doll buying hiatus.
I’ve been very focused the past couple of years on finally completing my collection (after nearly two decades!) If you count my current preorders, then my grand total will be 61 full dolls. I love each and every one of them, and what a truly amazing and wonderful journey it’s been!
49 full dolls and 3 on order. I do have a list that I am sticking with now. So, my random buying has slowed down. I do plan on more... I also didn't include pets in this.
I only have 9 and I feel they are neglected. Only one on my wishlist and I tell myself no because I haven't been very invested or attentive to the dolls I currently own and haven't been to a doll convention since before 2020. Maybe if I go to a convention this year I'll get more motivation.
104 according to my records, but this includes some OT dolls and all my WIP dolls/heads and projects. Regardless, I have a lot.
Yeah... this is no longer accurate [but then again, it's from 2016]. Current count is 22 full dolls, 7 heads, and one head in progress.
And now, 8 years down the line..... I'm on track to hit almost 40 early next year. A few have come and gone in the meantime, but somehow it just keeps increasing. I still have no idea how the heck i ended up with this many.
I have 14 dolls and waiting for one more to be send from Dollmore. If I had more space to have them I'll got more for sure since I like to many dolls...
I bought my first doll in 2018, and the three girls I bought that year have been my doll family for a long time. This year, I suddenly bought more dolls and suddenly... I have nine dolls. so I'm having a bit of cognitive dissonance. I mean, my dolls are three... four... Nine? Suddenly? X°D
Ok I was at 22 dolls and several floating heads ,now I have on hold 7 of them so can I say 15? But my target number changed to 0!! For the moment though are 15 and counting down
I'm in the process of recording my collection, so I've been photographing them all to make little "headshots" and I'm making a document with the name of each doll, listing sculpt name, wig/eye/shoe size, extras that they come with, etc. I have 104 photos, and I have two dolls on the way. So unless I forgot to photograph one, that brings me to 106. I feel you!! At the start of this year, when I started to document my collection, I was feeling super-overwhelmed, especially since so many dolls had to share wigs or eyes for me to get proper photographs. I felt guilty about neglecting so many of them. At some point I decided to just take it one size at a time. Or even one group (or one brand) at a time. And that made it a lot less overwhelming. This month I've been sorting out my mini (MSD) size dolls, and I've been replacing worn or damaged parts of their outfits, and buying whatever was missing (mostly underwear, a few wigs and some shoes). They're also all on stands now, to stop them falling over and creating a horrible domino effect... This is the last group of dolls that still needed stuff - they're many of my oldest dolls, and many of their outfits are falling apart (the flakes of fake leather, shoes with the soles coming off, wigs that look like rats' nests). It's great to see them all come back to life. I've been doing this all year - every few months (once I'd saved up enough doll money) I would just concentrate on one group and make sure they were dressed, etc. And now they're all in the stage where nobody is naked or barefoot or bald. It's like a weird sort of closure to know that I don't "need" anything. None of them are "perfect" but all of them are OK. I don't think I'll stop buying dolls, but I'm definitely slowing down. (I can tell myself that I'm only allowed to buy the two still on my wish list, but I know myself well enough to know that would be delusional. )
Unless I'm forgetting someone I have 15 (+2 pet) dolls with me currently, 1 doll more is on order and I've already decided the next one after that so hopefully in a year I should have 17. I had thought I was done collecting more but it seems I might end up breaking the 20 barrier eventually after all.
7 full dolls, 3 floating heads. Of the heads: one will get a body eventually to be the 8th doll, one is an alt head for one of the full dolls, and one is my faceup practice head that will never get a body. I'm planning to order a 9th doll soon. I feel that my collection is starting to get a little much for me to handle, so I'm stopping after the 9th. I hope this is all!
6 full dolls and one rolling head. I'm pretty happy with my collection as is and I'm not actively looking for more dolls to add to my collection. It's not a definite no though, there's still room for a couple more if needed ^^
On the resin side of things, I have 6 full dolls and 3 floating heads that are intended to become full dolls at some point. I also have 2 extra floating heads and an unclaimed body to experiment with painting/mods that aren't intended to ever be more than that. On the vinyl side, I have 6 full dolls and a few junk heads for practice. I'm not sure how many more I will accumulate as I go. My vinyl dolls occupy a distinct, separate area of my head than my resin dolls, so I feel like I could comfortably collect several more vinyl dolls without much stress on my creative reserves. As far as my resin dolls go, I have tentative plans for a 10th full doll, but I feel like I'm coming to the end of what I can reasonably handle. We shall see!
I have: 47 bjds in my room right now 1 arriving tomorrow 3 on order 18 floating heads (but some of those are actually just sleeping heads) 1 I just messaged someone about on the MP tonight ...and so many plans...
I have 13 dolls (3 vinyls, 1 blythe, 1 azone, 8 resins) now at the posting of this. To give myself credit I started collecting prior to covid and had 11 (5 resins and 6 vinyls) and sold 4 then I am returning from a 5 year hiatus. I am coming back strong because I brought six dolls in the span of two days. Lord help me.
Two that are on topic (resin) and two that are not (porcelain). I also just put in an order with an artist for a third porcelain one yesterday – the wait is six months to a year, but her work is so gorgeous, and I’m really excited! I only wish I could share the other half of my collection on here, but I guess that’s what other social media is for. The most I’ve had at any given time was six, if I’m remembering correctly? But that was in 2020, when I was dealing with the mental strain of everything via compulsive secondhand all buying. I sold most of them on, ultimately, because it was really more the feeling I wanted than the actual dolls.
I just made myself a google document with all my dolls in it, separated by Vinyl, Resin, Plastic/Other, and Parts. So I can say with confidence I have 7 resin bjds(though two of them are MIA since I moved back from college...). If you're curious, I also have 12 vinyl dolls, 5 Pullips, 6 otherwise off-topic bjd/mjd, 17 floating vinyl heads (with plans to sell a majority of them), 3 floating resins heads, and 1 resin body with no head! Plus an undocumented amount of fashion dolls/action figures/etc.
15 MSD 2 YOSD 5 Tinies 22, with one floating head that is for sure getting a body. Gosh, it doesn’t FEEL like that many!!! I’m interested in getting a few more YOSD’s, but I dunno if I want my collection to get too much bigger than this!
I currently have 12 bjds. 2 SDs, and 10 MSDs. These are all displayed resin dolls. For dolls that aren't displayed or are off-topic, it's closer to around 23.
In my house, I have 1 full bjd, 1 floating head, and 3 OT dolls. I have 1 full bjd in transit, and 2 full dolls on order. Now I need to get wigs!
Wow- would love to see photos of your collection!! I'm at 12 dolls myself; 1x yo-sd, 2x MSDs & 9 SDs. And this year, for the first time in forever, I found myself with no floating heads- something I'm rather proud of!
If keeping the count to full dorries, that would be: 1 x tiny 2 x msd 3 x sd's If adding the floating heads to the count, I have five of them (one being a free head from an event). Nonetheless, I would consider them complete since the floating heads are sleeping/dreaming/alternate counterparts of my full dorries.
I have 13. I started 2024 with 4 so my collection really grew last year! I have one on the way and one on layaway. They are mostly all dressed, wigged and have their forever eyes but I want to focus more on clothes, wigs ect this year, getting every doll as good as they can be. We'll see how that pans out (oh, and 4 need face ups )
I only have 2 at the moment but I wish to get a new one this year when I save some money from my new job.
34 full on topic dolls, not counting the 2 on topic dolls packed up and listed for sale. I have a couple oldies stashed away that I don’t count either.
Actual resin BJD dolls about 20 or so now. ( :O ) Sounds like a lot but most were gifts over the past 3 years from my oldest online doll pals who have absolutely colossal doll collections and who like to unload a few on me now and again for the holidays, birthdays or whenever they just desperately need some shelf space! Most of my dolls are MSD sized not bigger or smaller. I have bought a few very cheaply in the past 3 years myself including my bigger SD sized dolls of which there are now 4 in all, 3 girls one boy. I buy my dolls used and I hybrid a lot. I have a strict and pretty low limit on what I can spend. I'm on disability these days. Even my big dolls most of them cost me well under $200 even with shipping. I don't spend more than I can afford. I have bills to pay too. Only one went over that and that's because he's a special case and his heads run expensive. Probably I'm going to have to go there again for him but he's THE Boy so it's okay. I just would feel better with more paperwork than I've got for him though thus far. From pics someone on here just sent me I think he looks fine, probably is a legit head it looks like, but I'm being very picky with him and getting one with papers eventually anyway. Maybe a little help with the faceup if I can find someone locally to help me with that. I'm in NYC so probable. I'm not comfortable sending dolls out though... Mostly except for maybe getting a used Saint at some point because I really miss the one that got stolen from me in 2017 I'm done probably with buying big dolls. I never say never on the MSD sized ones but in the end there's only so much room in my studio. My Saint probably will be the MSD sized one this time if I can snag one. I really like that size and he will look well with my 16" fashion BJDs I think. That's it though because as it is I need to redo my shelves on my cabinet to display them all better. It's kind of amusing to me that I have this crew because it's only been since June of 2021 that I've been housed and able to go there at all. This year I'm focusing on making outfits and getting wigs and eyes and other stuff for my dolls. Other than buying that head if I see one in the budget I don't plan on buying more in any size. Taking a break from that.
I have 2 dolls currently (1 resin 1 vinyl) but if I manage to save enough money for the future character dolls I have planned, the final total should end up being around 6 (2 resin 4 vinyl). I don't think I could handle more than that and that's honestly kind of pushing the limit for me, but that's the smallest list of "characters I must have as dolls" I could make
I have 7 dolls - 3 are more mature slim minis and 4 are old-school blobheads with huge eyes. No floating heads for the time being, thank god! While I don't necessarily want to buy more dolls soon, I think the number might expand at some point.
Right now, I have 13 resin dolls (3 SD13, 4 SD10, 6 SDM) and 12 Dollfie Dreams, plus three OT vinyl dolls. I have plans for two more resin dolls in the near future, plus waiting impatiently for more Online FCS periods... I'm hoping to end the year around 17 or 18 resin dolls depending on how releases go. I don't have any particular limit aside from display space.
Right now I have 10 in total. Broken down that would be: 1x YoSD 7x MSD 2x SD I'm hoping to add some new SD's to the collection soon so this number may or may not increase.
