How long was it between getting your first and second doll?

Apr 17, 2007

    1. I took me a very long time between the first and the second doll, but the interval/gap between dolls after that is just in months.
In fastest pace, it might keep me just only 3-5 days to order the next doll. :)

    2. About a year to year and a half. I always considered myself the kind of person who wanted many dolls, but I was realistic about it and knew that I could finance maximum one a year when I was still under 18. Nowadays most of the ones I have were not planned (god that would sound so awful in another context lol), but those really were. I spent weeks researching before ordering. And didn't end up liking the other one anyway, as things turned out.

    3. I got 3/4 in the span of a week at a time. Was crazy but I had this so planned out ig. It ended up being perfect. The 4th got stolen when I ordered her a couple months after my 3. So a week ago I finally got my 4th after being brave enough to try and get another doll. Was perfect.

    4. 8 months.
From the end of September 2020 to the middle of May 2021.

    5. I ordered my first in February and my fifth last week, so about one a month. I didnโ€™t plan it like that but once I started buying I made up for all the years of holding back.

    6. I ordered my second (october 2020) one around six months after my first (June 2020), but they came like 1 month apart (second one was second-hand, first one had to be made). My third was ordered in January 2021, and I have not ordered another one since.

    7. I ordered my first in January of this year. While I was waiting for him, I bought a Seed.Arts head, that was in early March. So... about two months? And now I'm eyeing a third three months after that. I'm gonna try and lay off the dolls after that. (Of course, I said that about the first two...)

    8. Between ordering, like one month? Between receiving, three or four months!

    9. This was waaay back in 2011 when I first got into this hobby and I'm pretty darn sure it took me about 6 months (7 since the first one took about a month from purchase to arrival I think). The second one I swear took just about a week to arrive from the day of purchase so that one must have been randomly in stock at the time.

    10. While waiting for my first, I received two off topic bjds, ordered, paid off a layaway, and received an on topic Pipos baby cheshire that happened to be in stock at Denver Doll, and laid away and paid some of on a second hand pukifee. So I'd say not very long at all.:XD: Of course my first doll took about 8 1/2 months to reach me despite my being told 16 to 18 weeks by Denver Doll when I purchased him.

    11. It was 4 month between ordering and 2 months between receiving. I still love them both :).

    12. I got Eliot from Ringdoll and within the span of lets say 4-6 months I got Akio from Migidoll. I cant remember what year... I wanna say 2015 or '16.
Akio was ordered head first then shortly after I ordered his body, both from Migidoll. I'm not sure why I did it that way.

    13. I had mine and then two months later I felt the urge to get a new one, but I've known people who's been happy with just one for a while

    14. I'm pretty impulsive... I think I made my second doll purchase a week after my first :')

    15. it was the same for me! ordered my first doll in June and a week later ordered a second one even though I told myself going into this hobby I would limit my collecting to one doll every year or so...
      curse my impulsive ways!!!!! :o

    16. A year, I think. One doll had to have a friend))

    17. I was planning to only get 2 dolls. One is paid off the other I am in the process of paying off. But Iโ€™ve just seen photos of a souldoll onulharu and I neeeeed him!!! I literally know nothing about him but his face is perfect for a character from a drama that I adore. Sigh. Knowing my luck heโ€™s probably not easy to find.

    18. Actually, he's non limited afaik, you can order him online through a dealer like bjdivas

    19. Oops I just ordered him direct from souldoll on layaway โ˜บ๏ธโ˜บ๏ธโ˜บ๏ธ I canโ€™t believe I have 1 doll paid for and 2 on layaway but no actual dolls in hand yet lol

    20. Nine years :sweat Back then in 2012 I was a student and couldn't easily afford another one, and then I drifted away from the hobby... But upon my comeback in 2021 I got a bunch of dolls!

    21. I think it was a month. When I first started in the hobby was when I had my first big job so I was able to buy the two dolls I wanted and they were secondhand and cheap for them

    22. It took about 5 years! I got my first doll as a Christmas gift from my mom in 2012, when I was in college and had little money. My 2nd and 3rd dolls were purchased in 2017, after I got my first big job. It took 3 more years before I would add any more dolls to my collection. Now Iโ€™m at 7, waiting on 2 more!

    23. I only had about three weeks or so between getting my first and second doll. They were shelled original characters and sort of a 'dynamic duo' and so I wanted to have them both. I was lucky they were both in-stock dolls so I got them both very quickly.

    24. I entered into a split for a doll body while I was still waiting for my first full doll to arrive, and the body ended up arriving first. After the actual first doll arrived, I then bought the head for my second doll. I think I purchased another head about 4 months after that.

    25. Well, I just paid for my second girl while the one I bought first is a couple countries over and on her way to me, hopefully to be delivered this week. :'D

    26. I just got my second doll very recently, and it's been about 1 year and 4 months or so since my first doll arrived.

I don't really have much space for a lot of dolls, so I'm not exactly jumping at every chance to get another doll, even when I really really like a lot of them.

I want to try and be as particular as possible with which dolls I actually do buy, partially to minimize collecting costs and partially because I want to avoid having to buy another display case so soon :sweat

    27. About a year for me, between saving up and deciding who I wanted to get next.
Since dolls aren't cheap, I wanted to make my choice carefully.

    28. A little over a year fo me! My first one arrived in April of 2021 I believe, and my second arrived just last monty at the end of July 2022!

    29. If you count transit time, 5 days :XD:

The day after I got my first BJD, Volks Isao, I realized he was lonely, so... after some quick online research, I immediately ordered a Volks Megu from Doll and Hobby Shop in Florida. This was 2005, when they were about the only authorized Volks dealer in the US. A few days later, via USPS Priority Mail, and she was sitting on my coffee table, annoyed that I had no clothes for her.

(This was not the end of things -- of course! A day later, the next SD size girl was on order, and so the ball was rolling...)

    30. It was a couple months between my first arriving, and buying my second... Unfortunately, that second doll didn't work out for me, and I sold her on almost immediately. As soon as I had the money from that one, I bought my third; She, and my first are still with me to this day.

    31. I was trying to remember the name of that shop the other day! All I could remember is that it was a terribly generic name. I remember their images of the dolls were these little postage stamp size images, so buying from them was sort of a, "Well, I just bought something!?" haha

    32. Haha, *I* don't remember the tiny images! Just that by August 2005, their SD inventory was pretty low -- probably because Volks was setting up the US store in California. I wanted Yori, but only Megu was in stock. Although I'd scoped out what I wanted on the Volks Japan website, back then I was too timid to order directly from Japan, and I'd ordered 1/6 Dollfies from the shop a year before.

    33. It was only a few months, I became very obsessed very quickly lol.

    34. 5 months. Ordered them 5 months apart, yet they shipped on the same day:lol:

    35. I ordered my first October 15ths, my second December 8th I believe.

    36. I think it was about 4 months apart.:doh

    37. I bought a second doll in almost a month. While I was waiting for the face up of the first doll, I bought the second one secondhand.

    38. I bought my first doll in December, and while I was still waiting for him to be finished I bought my second in March. Those evil limited releases got me xDD
