How long was it between getting your first and second doll?

Apr 17, 2007

    1. Mmmm if I recall, I got my first doll in January of 2015, second in March of 2015.

    2. I got my first doll almost two years ago, I'm getting my second one around August this year. >< Now, that I'm back into BJD, as soon as I get my 2nd I want to order a 3rd ..!

    3. I think it was 2 months in between of receiving my first one, and then ordering another?

    4. I got my first doll, Zephyr in October of 2015. Then I fell in love with another doll and began working part time so I could afford him. Just several days ago, on May 27th I ordered my second doll, Elswyth. He is a Doll Chateau Mephisto. So....7 months in between getting my first and second dolls but I will be waiting 1-6 months for him to be made.

    6. I bought my Souldoll Chiron secondhand while I was waiting for my SOOM to come :'> so about a week between

    7. I ordered my second doll two months after my first them my third one month later

    8. Three months. LOL, I got Johnny in March of '16, and I got Alistair earlier this month.

    9. I bought my first doll in mid July I believe and then I bought a new doll about two weeks after for an incredible deal. I just couldn't wait to expand my collection!

    10. It took me about a year to get my second doll, and six months later, I have 6...

    11. So all these years I've had this idea in my head that I waited so long before getting my second doll, years and years but I just looked into my old posts and that's not true at all lol! My first doll (Luts Yder) arrived in November 2005 and my second doll (Mythdoll Leroi, re-sold long ago) arrived in spring or summer of 2006 :sweat

So my timeline would be like this:

      2005: Luts Yder
      2006: Mythdoll Leroi(sold)
2007: none (I did buy a DZ Megi for my friend though)
2008: AS Cain(sold), BBB Tiah (sold) Volks Kohya, Luts Shiwoo
2009: Volks SD10 boy body and Luts event head
      2010: Volks SD10 4 sisters
2011: BBB Weylin (traded for DZ Kay) RS Song
      2012: none
      2013: none
2014: Volks DWC01, Dollshe Saint, EID boy hybrid
      2015: DoD Too
2016: Simply Divine Richard head with April Story Senior body, RS Deertaur, KDF Kiwi

You can tell where I took a break from the hobby

    12. I know I got my first (a Resinsoul Li) the end of 2011. I ordered a Resinsoul Dai in February 2012, I believe, but was getting impatient so I purchased an Illusion Spirit that was in stock (Yue Chen) in April so he would have been my second "doll-in-hand".

    13. I got my First doll on May 25 and the second on May 28, both ordered together :D
So my "second Doll" was ordered on August 15th, don't know when she will arrive :3

    14. It's been five long years.

    15. 3 months...ish. Got a bunch of money from a commission and didn't know what to do with it other than buy dolls, lol.

    16. ...........a month and half i think? or maybe just a month >.> i thought i was going to have to wait a really long time for my first doll to be shipped out since i bought him new so i may have gone ahead and bought a dolly on the second hand market ....>.> low and behold though my first doll showed up before the one i bought used lol
      so yeah i was bad ^^;
however part of my reason was that i was getting my dolls as art models for when i was drawing and i was doing a lot of chibi drawings at the time so having a tiny would be helpful for that.
      as well as the fact that she was an event doll.... so i doubted i would see her on the market again. and not for that price. and she has bunny ears...so yeah ^^;

    17. It was a little over 2 years between my first and second doll. I got Denzel (B&G Sharon) as a sweet 16 gift to myself, and he arrived Just after Christmas in 2013. Belle-Marie (Pukipuki Flora) is my second, and she arrived in January this year after a very long wait.

I've picked out my third doll, but I'm still saving so it'll be a little while.

    18. I got my first doll in '08 and got the second one in '10 (iirc) so there was several years between them :3
It took so long to get the second one because I had to gather my own money for it (I was a student so I didn't have that much spare money) ^^'

    19. It was four years between getting my first and second BJDs.

    20. Four months had passed from receiving my first doll to when I ordered my second.

    21. I got my first doll in 2006, and a practice head for faceups in 2008. I didn't get another full doll until 2012. So technically it was 6 years in between!

    22. Just 2 weeks!

    23. I got my first doll exactly one week and one day ago. I am already trying to buy another doll. I swear, there has to be something in the resin. That's why we have the whole BJD Addicts thing. xD

    24. It took me a 6 month period between the first and second doll. They unfortunately didn't work together and were sold by the next year's end.

    25. Resin is truly addicting. It's in the resin.

    26. I got them both within one year :whee: to be fair, my MSD was cheap

    27. This is what I'm most worried about...you see, I am an avid shopaholic and when I'm into something, I won't be able to stop until I get it...So if BJD is my current passion, I would most definitely hunt for more until I'm happy with what I have...

I'm new to this hobby, currently waiting for my first BJD to arrive, and I have already had my eyes on my "second doll to be", and the third one is already on my wish list...the only doubt left is "how am I going to pay for them?":lol::lol:

    28. 10 years:sweat

First i bought a Volks Sakura, then 10 years later, i bought another one:wiggle

    29. Bought my first in June and my second in September :) Saving for my next right now!

    30. First time:
My parents got that one for my birthday, and I had just finished saving up for it!xD So no time at all... :P

And because I'm starting over, I'll also mention this time:
I just ordered my first, I plan to get another soon after, as long as I can save up enough! I'm doing everything I can and not giving myself much free time... xD I really want two of them for photoshoots/stories, and I'm learning to sew, so I really want two that have different styles! I'm hoping by beginning of next year if things keep going well! If that happens... I might even be ordering before my first one arrives if she takes the longer amount of time... oops... :'D

    31. Eleven days. :nowords:I purchased Meia new and she arrived on September 23, 2014. Then I found Lark for sale at a doll show on October 4, 2014.

    32. 1st and 2nd? Probably around a year. However, I recently sold the second and am making my third BJD purchase--that process has taken so long! Almost 6 years, I'd say?

    33. I was waiting about 2 years and not only because of money that my sis lent me
My first one was 1/4 size and i was grown tired of not being able to get good outfit for her and said I MUST have 1/3 one :P (and went to my sis for more money :P)

    34. It was about a year and a half after I brought my first doll that I brought a head and then the body 3 months after I got the head as I couldn't find a body that I liked to start off with.

    35. It took me less then a year to get my second BJD. Then after that one I ordered two more dolls 2 1/2 months later. *_* But I rather get dolls on a yearly basis or every 6 months because I didn't bond with the last two I got. A bond with a doll needs to take time for me.

    36. Three years. :sweat Not having a source of income at the time does that to you, hahaha. My first was in 2011 and my second was in 2014. Both were bought as a birthday gift, although the first was on layaway for a bit.

    37. I want to say a couple of months because once I saw this sale going on I bought several and I don't remember when I got my first doll.

    38. I got my first and second boy about 4 months apart from each other. I felt bad for my one boy being all alone, and I really wanted to get my next doll to turn him into one of my dream dolls, so I didn't wait very long at all xp

    39. My very first was a Hujoo Sara, which is plastic, not resin. I got her in 2011 or 2012 I think. I ordered my first resin (April Story Stella) in November of 2015 but she didn't arrive until March of 2016. In the meantime I got permission to use the DoA Marketplace and got a Migidoll Beau.

So, around 3-4 years between my ball jointed dolls in general, but only a few months between resin dolls.

    40. I got my first in 2008. Second in 2016. Now I have 12. I took a 8 year break, collected other dolls, but not more bjds until 2016. I just got interested in many other things. I think also that I was too young and unsettled for it. While this is not true for all young people , it was for me. It was easier to have smaller and cheaper dolls when you're in uni and bouncing around from place to place and I changed my mind more when I was younger too and just didn't stick with much. I tried a lot of things but now that i'm older and have had years to figure out who I am and what I like , I'm back to bjds.

    41. I bought a head for another doll a couple of months after getting my first doll. He was a floating head for the longest time before I found him a body. But both of them have been sold a long time ago, when I was on a hiatus from this hobby.

    42. I think for me it took about a year. I was very happy with only having one doll but then I stumbled upon my second one and I just had to have him. Now it's been a year since my second and I'm looking for a third. I think I can see a pattern there.

    43. I had a minimium wage part time job at the time. I saved up two years, got two thousand dollars about after that time. I bought two dolls on site from the store while visiting Korea within like two days of each other. I got them some outfits and accessories and BAM money gone. I've never had that much money in the bank since. One was my withdoll girl Yuna, the other my Volks boy Kai. They're married :D I didn't get my other dolls till like a year later. And I got those three others within a few months of each other, as they were cheaper than my first two and I saved money like crazy for that year, hoarding it like a dragon XD. Now I'm dead broke again and jobless. I regret nothing.

    44. I like making up original characters and creating stories for them.
And I hate it when I have to draw or write about them ‘alone’. My character would always have at least another character to be lured with, regardless of their rolls.
So I my ‘first’ bjd was actually twins, but I wouldn’t call any first or second since they were purchased at the same time.
Now I have three and feel a little indecisive to call the most recent one the second or third. *_* But my most recent bjd was purchased after the twins for 5 months!

    45. I bought my second doll about 5 months after my first doll, and since then it’s getting out of hand. :drool

    46. My first one hadn't even come in before I was ordering a second. I have a quick growing army lol

    47. It took me about 2 years, but I was taking my time, since I was only interested in dolls resembling certain characters. I was ready to look for a fitting doll for years, and was glad when I finally did manage to find the 3 dolls I was contented with.

    48. I can't really remember but I guess it's within 3 months?
Because I ordered my 1st pair from DOD with a friend, and while waiting for DOD to make n send to us, I bought another doll from DOA.... And it came before my 1st pair of dolls... lol...

    49. It took me over two years. While I was never one to say "I'm just going to buy the one", I didn't have plans for a second for a while. Mostly because I was so taken by all the customisation, the photography, sewing, making props... I didn't feel like I needed another one for quite a while. In addition I am really really slow to decide which sculpts I like, I have to observe them for months and months before "it clicks" with me that that's the one I want.
I ordered my third about six months after the second arrived and when I got her I felt so incredibly overwhelmed, so I've been limiting myself to no more than one a year, otherwise there is too much to do and not enough time to dedicate to them.

    50. The first doll I got was a bit of a spontaneous buy. I'd already been in the doll customizing hobby, for fashion dolls mostly, and was starting to get interested in bjds when I started following a page that reposted bjd sales posts to help sellers reach a wider audience. One day while I was browsing, just for fun to see everything, I saw a bjd for sale that was the first sculpt of bjd I'd ever seen many years ago. I instantly knew I needed her and bought her almost instantly after an intense internal debate. Since then it's like the flood gates have broken and now (less than two months later) I'm already in the process of buying two more dolls :XD: I'm also slowly compiling a list of all the sculpts I'd love to have in the future and it'll be quite the collection! I hope one day I'll have a lot of bjds

    51. Truthfully, I thought I would only own one doll as I didn't want to own too many. But then plans didn't go as I thought. I ended up getting a head I really liked first and that I guess kind of is my first doll but not because he doesn't have a body. I ended up getting a full doll not too long after I bought the head like 2 weeks later or so and also got a body within that time frame as well but not for the head I previously bought but for a future head I will buy down the line. So essentially I just went ham in buying dolls in like a month >.< Now I gotta slow down and take a break for a while. But yeah...I just went ham and only got into the hobby not too long ago either o.o Woo...but I still hope I don't own too many dolls because space issues :P and money...

    52. I brought my first doll in 2007 and my second doll in 2017.

    53. Oh, goodness. It's been... four years? since I got my first doll (and floating head), and I just started actively planning to get more.
It's nice to see the variety in comments here! Different strokes for different folks and whatnot.

    54. About 6 months after my first doll, and then not even a month before I bought my third doll. I think my wallet is crying.

    55. Five months. My parents suggested one as a 21st birthday present after they saw how much I loved my first.

...doll number 3 was ordered about two months after that, because I didn't know when a preorder for her would happen again and I had a summer job.

    56. Well, that's interesting question. I guess it depends on what you define as a second doll. I had my first doll for a couple of months and then I switched out the bodies. Then about a year later I sold and got a MSD size girl for the same character.

About six months after I got a second doll. So I had two at once.

    57. Two years. The third one came half a year later, with the fourth's head around the same time... And since then I haven't cared how long it took me to decide to buy one more, 'cause it's become only the question of money.

    58. Mine was pretty quick, maybe 2 weeks before I decided to get another. I was fortunate enough to get them near tax refund time

    59. I’ve had my first mini fee for less than two months. I’ve been stalking the luts website for my second already ,but my next will be an sd size.

    60. I got my first one in October 2015, then when I had more money than expected left over on my tax refund, I got my next one the following April in 2016. So I'd say around six months or so of a difference. I'm still at 2 bjds currently, though if I were to do another big purchase, it would be to upgrade the body of my 2nd one to something more posable.
