At the moment, they have to stay in their boxes in my closet, but when I move into a new apartment, I would like to get them a display cabinet and a room box.
When i got my first doll i kept her in her carry case for months, then i got my 2nd doll and shes now on my dressing table with my other dolls ^^ I plan on getting stands for them next.
I keep them sitting near my worktable or on the couch. If it necessary to go somewhere for a long time I put them in their boxes.
One is in a drawer since she's the fancy girl and the other was a blank doll that is under constant modification. So she just sits on my dresser most of the time. :p
My chill on a bookcase in my room. Most of my dolls are huge Ipelhouse EID and HID size, so I used a wooden dowel to make the shelf roller coaster style so they dont fall off. I like to see my dolls, so unless im getting ready to sell one (I box them up for a while before I sell to see how I feel when I dont see them on my shelf.....) I keep then out where they are easy to see a grab. I like to have them play ready.
My mom gave me a large glass doll cabinet, which is awesome, so most of my doll crew reside within it. I do have my two girls sitting on my dresser by my bed at the moment, as I like to play with them more. I have a pesky, naughty pug, so all dolls need to be up high or in the cabinet if they don't want to end up dog chews.
I prefer to see my dolls in display so I dedicated a part of a built-in display cabinet in my studyroom for my dolls. I placed a dehumidifier in the display and there is no direct sunlight so I'm pretty happy with it. I also kept my doll stuffs (their original box, clothing, wigs, shoes, accesories and cloth) in a drawer and covered cabinet of the same built-in cabinet.
Mine are kept in my bedroom closet. Two of the three are in their boxes, while one is sitting on the top shelf.
I rotate my dolls every 3 to 4 months. The dolls that are out,sit on a shelf away from the sunlight. I also have some dolls that prefer to lounge on my bed. The dolls not being displayed are in their boxes.
I put mine on a shelf in a seperate room when I'm not actively enjoying them, otherwise they'd get hit with sunlight. Darn apartment being so well lit, I'd love to have them out in the living room otherwise. I have one exception, my DC katherine sits in an american girl knock off papasan chair on the table.
I'm still pretty new and so far I only have two heads, but right now I'm storing them in the top drawer of my dresser in a little box to keep them away from sunlight when my blinds are open.
Mine are displayed in a closed cabinet to minimize sunlight. If I want to see them or play with them I'll just open the cabinet. I'm running out of space though, maybe one day I'll put a couple of them out there on a shelf somewhere in my room.
I keep them in boxes, two dolls per box. I put them in a box by couple, so I like to imagine they snuggle.
I keep mine on a shelf in a glass display case, on a seat of blue velvet to stop scratching/chipping, also it contrasts with her pale skin really nicely.
I keep mine in display cabinets with glass doors. I like to be able to see and enjoy them. Those that aren't quite finished are in storage boxes in my closet.
Hello gang I just have one luts girl . I dont really take her out if the box. just wonder how you guy display your collection. I love to see your pictures. It will be so inspiring. Thanks Gary
Mine live on a box next to my computer lol. There's a storage box on top of my desk which is like a little stage, they stand on that. There's a bookshelf on one side of them and a computer screen on the other, so they're very sheltered from sunlight. The space is a wee bit small now that i've got 5 dolls standing there though. I can fit ONE more, lol. then I have to find a new spot. I'm not overly fussed about keeping them away from dust and light though, they were bought for me personally to enjoy and I love looking up when i'm doing stuff at my computer and seeing them, or picking them up and messing with them without having to get out of my chair lol. I have a lot of other dolls in storage and I tend to forget I have them if I can't see them, so I prefer to have things out on display.
mine move around a lot o.O I don't really have a specific place for them so i put them wherever i can and want. Like on a chair in the living room. Or on a cabinet. I recently bought a glass display cabinet and i hope to fit them all in there.... Its standing in my room so i might add some curtains to keep them safe from the sun. To me its sad to keep them in boxes and my constant moving them around, although sometimes annoying, does allow me enjoy them ^^
Mine sits on a table, or any spare ledge in my room. For the longest time, he sat on top of my wardrobe, as it was the safest place for him (I couldn't possibly knock him off). I find some sort of reassurance in being able to look at him every so often. When I had pet rats, I didn't pay attention to Alex, but I lost the rats last year and I've been in search of something to replace them. Not realising that the perfect solution was sitting in the room next to mine, unloved & ignored for so long. Now that he's back in my room, I find myself glancing across at him every so often. It's comforting.
All sat in my closet between two shelves, so I can get to them quick and easy, but they arent in the light! I either want a UV glass cabinet, or a room with no windows XD
I bought those kind of assembled boxes with doors and made them a "room" to put them in. Usually they just sit there, away from the sunlight~ I like to see my dolls around so I usually just put them out in the open~
I keep mine in his original box, although it should be a temporary solution. I've got this cabinet in my room where I keep most of my favourite Barbies and childhood toys, which however got kinda cluttered with a bunch of other stuff through the years... I'm planning to get rid of the clutter so I can move my boy in (as well as possible future dolls). The cabinet has a wooden door, so no sunlight getting through it either
I don't really "store" my dolls. They live on various shelves around my room. I like seeing them, even when I'm not actively engaging with them. It makes it easy for me to grab one when I do want to play, too The only time I want to put my dolls back in their boxes is if I have to transport them en masse, like if I'm moving or something.
I keep all of my dolls out and around my computer room-- the only exceptions would be the dolls that I haven't bonded with and am thinking about selling. I keep the blinds in this room shut, and most of my BJDs are sitting on shelving units I've bought and set up. My dollfies on the other hand sit pretty much anywhere they want because I don't have to worry about them being in the sun I really need to reorganize this room though, so more of my dolls can sit together and not be as scattered as they are currently.
I have four young and joyfull cats, so I'm not comfortable leaving my doll on my desk alone with those monsters. For now, the poor girl is in her original box in my closet, but when I'm home I put her on my desk under extreme surveillance.
Currently, I have my three boys on a shelf in my closet that's doll-devoted... but that's really supposed to be a temporary solution until I have more storage, when I want them to have a bookshelf environment. And Marigold hangs out in her case pretty much whenever I'm not pulling her out to do something with her, but with the case open so she can 'breathe' (actually so I can see her pretty little face from my bed, she gets to kind of sit up out of the carry-case on her pillow).
Icy keeps me company by sitting on a chair near my working desk. I tend to pose her in the most natural way, so my lady would be comfy, and even give her a doll-sized book sometimes. Other guys which I'm expecting now are most likely to do the same thing, just like my collectibles and figurines currently do - I'd love seeing my dolls, not just store them in a box. I imagine the best sit in the house would be always reserved for my first favorite lady though. Sunlight is brought down to absolute minimum in my room since I don't like it, window blinds are always shut tight, so I don't have to worry about this at all. Lucky to share this preference with my dolls~
For now, my dolls are stored in their boxes inside a cabinet. I'm trying to build some sort of a diorama inside for them to live in so that every time I open the door I can admire them. :3
I move around a lot, even when at home, so I like to keep her in my carry bag so I can pop her out anytime to sit alongside me
I only have 4 dolls - two MSD and two tinies. I have one sofa for each pair, so they are usually sitting on their sofa - one pair in the living room and one pair in the bedroom, positioned so they never get direct sunlight. I like to repose them regularly or just grab them and play with them for awhile.
My dog doesn't care about them so are just standing on a shelf. I want to build a diorama for my MSD though...
There's a corner in my dorm room never get sunlight, so Hyacinth has a chair there. When I get home, I'll have to find a new corner for her!
Mine sit on a bookshelf, I don't care if they yellow, I figure I want to be able to display them, or really what's the point? I handle my dolls, I'm not really the glass case/blackout room type.
Both of them sit on my china cabinet by my bed out of the sun. They're right below all of my figures and I take them off the shelf every day to avoid them collecting dust.
Sad to say, she's just tucked away on the top of some cabinets, with some cloth covering her to keep her away from the sunshine. Maybe after I get a new place, I'll get a decent area for her to sleep in.
I keep my dolls in the boxes or bags. If I want to take photos of them, they will sit on my desk or bed for a few days.
So I recently purchased two dolls and I absolutely adore them both, but they've been in their boxes since I got them! I wanted to put them on my bookshelf, but the sun hits my room directly. And I don't want them to yellow. So how do you all display or store your dolls? Do you have a display case where you keep them all in? Or even a roombox? Do you keep them on a bookshelf or standing on a desk? Or do you keep them in a closet? I'd just like some ideas on how I could display/store mine.
I have some friends ,they used to buy an crystalbox for their doll(like a box in a doll show). You can also spray your doll with ”extintion“(a tipe of chemical spary that a lot of faceup artist use). Well, in me view, I see my dolly like a daughter,it is an artwork,we need to care of it but at the same time, dont be too concerned about this.Be brave! Put he or she in your bedroom, people will be old and die, dolls are the same。Yeah ,but if you can, the best is to protect it as well as you can。
My girl is standing in my living room and I put a cloth over her head every night to cover her because in the morning there's direct light in the living room and I'm still sleeping, so I can't cover her at that time. More or less at lunch time the strong light is gone, so I can take off her cloth and see her properly.
i keep my dolls in their boxes in my closet when they're not out, and when i do take them out i try to keep them out of the sunlight even for small amounts of time.
They're going to yellow anyways, keeping them in their boxes only slows down the process. That's why I got my dolls sitting all over my room. I bought them so I can see them ..
My boys sit on my desk in my room, which always has the curtains shut, so there's not too much sun. I don't keep anyone in their boxes unless I'm planning to sell them; I get my dolls to enjoy them, and keeping a doll in a box all the time seems like a bit of a waste to me! They're gonna yellow anyway, even in their boxes. I'd say if you can't put them on your bookshelf, maybe try to find another place in your room to display them. You could get a cheap little bed table or something and set it away from the sun to be a doll table. Or if you have no other choice, maybe keep them in their boxes during the day and take them out in the evening. If you're not in your room during the day anyway then it's not too big a deal. Or you could get some curtains to block the sun; they don't have to block it completely, just diffuse it enough that it's not directly shining on the dolls. And some people just keep their dolls in their boxes until they're going to play with them. There's nothing wrong with that, especially if you're not home much to see them displayed. There are lots of options!
My dolls have their own closet which is closed all the time except when I work with them for photoshoots, sewing or other things. They have their places to sit in that closet and since it has doors made of wood and not glass or any seethrough material they are protected from the sun and I can still open the closet and look at them or get them out without any trouble
I have shelving built just for the SD crew, as roomboxes/dioramas. I have them placed in a way that direct sunlight never hits them. Most of them are in that shelving unit, but a few sit on top of a chest of drawers, while the rest chill on a doll sofa directly under the window, where the light can't possibly angle in to touch them. For my tinies, they're sitting on a round shelf I got at a closeout store. It's a wall shelf and hangs right beside a south facing window, so once again, light never reaches it. Finally, my first doll is sort of "retired", as he doesn't fit with my current crew and he stays in his box in a closet most of the time.
I have sconce shelves in my bedroom for my dolls, at MSD size I can fit two apiece on most of them. Since they're attached to the wall instead of resting on the floor, the shelves don't receive much vibration from foot traffic. They're stable enough that I have been able to display my dolls standing up with their backs leaning against the wall, with no mishaps for three years so far. As far as yellowing goes the only window in that room faces north, the curtains are always closed, and the ambient light is angled to the opposite wall, so I'm not too worried.
I'm in the process of getting some shelves to hang on the wall to keep my dolls on. At the moment they are on top of my dresser, but the dresser gets knocked around a lot and I'm terrified one is going to fall and break. I do have one doll that sits on my desk and keeps me company when I work, but other than that they are all going to safety on some shelves.
My dolls are currently in their boxes, but I'm in the process of filling up my work room with display cases for all of my collections. The room has a bay window, and I switch between using sheer and blackout shades depending on what I'm doing, so I'm using OP3/P99 acrylic instead of glass.
I have a wooden armoire with wood doors, so no light exposure. Nine out of my ten bjd current family live there in the dark. I have one bjd in a doll cabinet. I put decorative paper on the 2 glass sides of it to block light and give her a nice background. It gives a shadow box effect and keeps light off but I can enjoy her daily.
On the dresser.... Currently revisiting this and trying to make the basic setup more... interesting/display like/prettier. Its not coming together so far.
I used to have them out on shelves or their own setup on the ground with couches. But they now all stay behind glass in a cabinet as it gets very dusty. I also keep them in the dark as much as possible. To the point I won't open the curtain or if I do, I block light from them. I had gotten a couple of them yellowed from direct sunlight, so now I'm extra cautious.
In the box with no/white clothes on, to protect them from hostile forces such as the star in our Solar System and my cat.
All of mine (yes…ALL!) are on display in artistic vignettes throughout my home. I have them carefully curated and away from direct light, but out where I can enjoy them in small groupings. Wandering through my small home is a little like wandering through an enchanted forest, visiting with fascinating friends along the way. It makes me happy.
Mine are sitting on the top 3 shelves of 2 tall metal cabinets plus an additional white shelving unit with 4 shelves, in a small office I used to use for speech therapy. All the units are deeper than normal. Originally I wanted to close the cabinet doors for dust, but all the boys feet stuck out so they are open. All are dressed. I also have a large collection of heads in boxes on top of all three. I swap heads on bodies so I have over 100 SDs. Sometimes the partners lie on top of each other in comfy ways on the shelves. I have to keep the heads free of resting on the walls so the wigs don’t change shape. It can look a bit out of control and sometimes I get an idea and have to search a bunch, but it works great and they are mostly quite happy. I have the one window blocked with large cardboard. I can see them when I hang out there, or walk through to a bathroom or take a bath. I also have a large American Girl canopy bed on the bureau of the bedroom for my FIDs, who lie across the bed and I cover with a small quilt. Half of my closet is for doll clothes, I have a large collection of furniture in part of another room. And my art room (formerly a kitchen) has props in the cabinets and drawers. I also have plastic shelving for wigs in there, etc. A third metal cabinet is there with all my art supplies and there’s a tall table for faceups. I guess my whole second floor is devoted to dolls. Guests always marvel or think I’m quite mad.
Most all of my dolls are on display. I have to be able to see them everyday. I have several glass doored cabinets and open cabinets for display. I set them on chairs and have a few glass domes for dresser tops.
