WOAH This is super inspiring, i've been trying to get better organized and being able to see most of what you have but still it protected is amazing. .
I'm curious! I don't have too much clothing for my dolls yet but one day they will most likely have more then me haha. I share a rather small room with my aunt so I don't have much free space which means I'll have to figure out how to do it in minimal amounts of space when the time comes lol. Anyways how do ya'll store your doll clothes?
Freezer bags, I separate items by type, one for shirts, one for pants, etc. I don’t vacuum seal them but I do push out as much of the air as I can. I keep the bags in a box that used to hold Smoking Loon Cabernet Sauvignon (no one in my family drinks but we will head to the liquor store whenever we need boxes ) the box goes up on a shelf in my closet.
I have all of my doll clothes stored in a chest of drawers. I have a shoebox size plastic tub for each doll with their name on it. There are a few outfits I do have hanging on doll sized hangers in the guest room closet, mostly things I don't want to get wrinkled or damaged by other items. @unoa_im_afreak If you want to send some of that liquor my way, feel free.
I store doll shoes in a same box with zipper bags for each of them, and put some dry packs inside the box. Clothes will depends on what is inside, for some clothes that cannot be pressed, I will put them in a little box separately; for clothes that is cheaper, I will just put them in a doll box; for other dress set, I will put them in zipper bags and put in the boxes. Also a wig box for wigs.
My doll boxes are the storage space for the outfits they came in (fullsets) or the first sets I bought for that doll specifically. The others I store in these wooden tea boxes, which are easely stackable. Something like these Stock Photo - Small Wooden Box previously containing 1kg of Pure Ceylon Broken Orange Pekoe Tea I was lucky to find an older lady who went through one or two boxes of this a year and I could manage to get 6 in total. Sadly, she passed away and I don't drink that much tea by myself. I got 1 box empty in over 2 years. But I'm thinking about finding these wooden boxes for tea-bag storage. Some have these interchangable parts inside, so I'm hoping to find some where I can remove the wooden pallets inside of tem. LIke these: cherry and koa dovetailed tea boxes Most of these boxes are a bit deeper and when you buy some of the same size, they are easely stackable. Mine are next to my dresser in my room and they don't look messy at all. The easy stacking also makes for easy storage inside of closets, so there's that. Before this I had plastick boxes which did the same trick. I just prefer the tea boxes because I store them in plain sight and aesthetic-wise, it was better. Edit: I also store my doll shoes in them. I have one wooden box filled with only shoes. You can add little cardboard platforms and deviders so the shoes don't get thrown all over the place.
I bought Ikea cardboard boxes (Tjena) and store the clothes by doll size. I have separate boxes for shoes and wigs. I also have two small racks where I display dresses etc. on hangers.
Can't help with the minimal space aspect - these shelves of doll clothes boxes are double-stacked on the shelves so there's another lot behind the visible ones. They're divided up by size and gender of doll, with boxes in each size range for shoes, clothes, wigs and accessories. There are some boxes for individual doll wo have a lot more clothes than the others, are a very distinct size, or are so different in style to the others of their size it's easier to keep their stuff in separate boxes. I have two sets of small drawers, the kind that are classed as bedside ones. I have one with three drawers with all my doll clothes in it. One drawer dark clothes for Iplehouse FID, one light clothes for FID, and the other for slim MSD clothes. My three slim MSD dolls sit on top of it. My other set of small drawers also have three drawers: a drawer for wigs (in individual plastic bags), one for shoes and stockings, and the other for all my tiny doll things. My three Iplehouse FIDs sit on top of that set of drawers. Both drawers sit next to my desk (my tiny sits on my desk) so my dolls are in perfect eyeline to where I'm sat, and the drawers easy to reach into!
I have an antique dresser full of clothes, wigs, shoes, some outfits in ziplocks to keep it all together, shoe boxes for dividers. I also have an old entertainment center shelf that I've adapted to store my dolls, furniture, props, art supplies etc.... and then I made a portable clothing rack from appliance cardboard that I decoupaged to hang some of the wardrobe to enjoy looking at and while I am dressing them. Think outside the "box" and you will find workable solutions from things you already have. Maybe a hall closet or linen cupboard, an old hopechest, etc.... like me an ugly old, oversized entertainment center, lol.
I have been hatching an idea to hang string back and forth on an empty wall and hang clothes on it like a clothes line just to see some of my favorite bits. It seems a shame to have them all tucked away...
I have been thinking about that too for the very same reason but the dust... I have two sizes, 1/4 and 1/6 and I like the largest one best as the small one's rail is a little bit unsteady. I bought them in an Etsy shop (DreamStudioDollHouse).
For those wanting to display the clothes, maybe try something like this? A picture frame with a swing-open or snap on-off function that makes it easy to remove clothes? Custom Poster Frames | Vistaprint Shadow boxes, another option, are prettier, but more expensive https://www.amazon.com/Frametory-11...+box+open&qid=1608232958&s=home-garden&sr=1-5
I have most of mine in a pair of small, three-drawer chests-of-drawers that I found on sale at World Market a few years ago. Having several drawers makes sorting by size easier.
I don't store Cherry, but if I should have to of course I have her box. She's the only doll I have so it's no thing. Her clothes, on the other hand...girl has a lot of clothes. I have them stored as separate outfits in freezer bags in a huge bin.
I have a few of those plastic towers with sliding drawers: one for craft supplies, one for cosplay, and I might repurpose another one for doll clothes after I start accumulating more of them. I also love the idea of getting a small clothes rack to hang things on with a drawer at the bottom for accessories...But that would probably be more of a photoshoot prop than a practical storage solution!
Hi.. Does anyone have any good ideas how to storage your doll clothes, + wigs etc? Especially the clothes.
I used to have clothes in various small boxes (some even shoe boxes) that kept getting filled and would gain more but after Christmas last year I went down and bought some of those Christmas decoration storage totes. I got flatter ones that are about a foot deep and 3'x2' in size. Ended up with 4; SD male, SD female, MSD, and YoSD. All but the MSD are pretty much filled and I also store their shoes on there. Wigs all go in their own tote which is smaller.
I have mine in a wall of "Really Useful Boxes" with boxes for shoes, wigs, clothes, accessories, jewellery. Boxed up by by size and gender of doll, with occasional boxes for specific dolls if that doll has a lot of clothes that are specifically theirs. A friend converted a cupboard into a series of doll-sized hanging rails for her doll clothes... which would be better in terms of avoiding the creases they get from being crammed into overfull boxes, but I'm not organised enough to keep putting them back on the hangers and hanging them up when I can just pile them up and shove them into a box a handful at a time. I got a cabinet from my husband a couple years ago as an anniversary gift. It's technically meant for tool / garden storage. My dolls sit on a couple of the shelves, their clothes in a bin under them with their clothes in baggies labeled by size. And then under the shelves are their prop bin, accessories bin, fabric bin (for making more clothes), and a craft bin (for making more props and accessories). And on the side of those bins is the wig bin. While the other bins are just normal storage totes the wig bin is actually a Christmas ornament organizer my husband got on clearance a few years back. I love it. Keeps wigsorganized and untangled.
Not mine, but if you look at some of kotokazu's gallery posts you can see the most beautiful wardrobe with hangers *____* I used to keep clothes in a converted tea ceremony toolbox (tall and narrow with three horizontal shelves), which was a great and classy solution when I had just the one MSD. Now I've got one of those canvas shoe organizers that hangs from a closet pole, but I'm still trying to track down the doll-sized equivalent of shirt boxes to keep items folded tidily.
Unfortunately not, as I've been storing all my doll-related items in a big cardboard box for years now, and it's starting to get full. I should probably try to find a better arrangement soon...
Each of my dolls has a shoebox size plastic tote to hold their clothes, shoes and accessories, and I put them all in a chest of drawers I use exclusively for doll stuff. I have a larger tote I keep in the closet for extra wigs, which I try to keep in their original packaging, though a few didn't have anything more than a plastic bag. I have a doll bed and doll couch the actual dolls hang out on, their boxes are on the top shelf of the closet in the guest room.
I keep all of my dolls in what I call the doll cabinet. It's really a bookshelf that has adjustable shelves and double glass doors. It protects my dolls from dust and my cats. It's so nice to have them all in one place where I know they are safe. They don't have any direct sunlight hitting them. On top of the doll cabinet I have some pretty craft boxes where I keep their clothes, accessories and wigs. The boxes are lovely and quite sturdy. I prefer them to plastic bins because they look so nice. You can get them at craft stores. My SD sized clothes are in a suitcase type box. I keep my eyes in one of those bead holder thingies. For my floating heads and extra resin bits such as hands and feet I keep them all together in a box. I also have all of my receipts, certificates of authenticity, any paperwork, ID cards or guide books, basically anything that ships with the dolls in a box. I don't ever want to lose any of those things. Lastly, I have all the doll pillows, blankets, stuff of that nature, and my Volks box(the only doll box I've saved)in a wicker chest.
I'm currently storing in bubble wrap for any accessories since I haven't gotten my doll yet (she's being made I think?) but I've been looking at doll closets and drawers on places like mercari and ebay. The vintage options are typically nicer but my generation and american girl have good scale for my doll
I've been a very naughty girl, lol. I got out an old jewelry box that was collecting dust in a closet. My husband wants to go through my MIL's old jewelry in there "some day," which tends to mean the Twelfth of Never, so I put all the jewelry into a Tupperware and put it where the jewelry box had been, and the box itself is now holding my doll clothes. Husband won't be particularly happy, but I will point out that I did not throw out one single piece of jewelry from the entire box, and I was careful not to break anything.
Everything is in boxes under my bed, lol. The downside is that I have to get the dolls and stuff out every time I need to, but on the other hand such a method of storage protects resin from yellowing really well! Even my almost 8 years old doll barely changed his color! All the doll stuff is in a plain cardboard box for now and i keep it near my dolls too. It's handy to have everything in one place.
I use plastic totes with flip-lock handles as they're easy to get into. They're about 11' x 15" x 6" high. Each tote hold the clothes belonging to one or two dolls, including shoes. Wigs are in two separate totes and I have other totes for fantasy outfit, spare parts (including eyes), accessories (a double tall tote), and face-up supplies. They're all stacked two high on the shelves of a set of open bookshelves. I have another set of tall totes on another set of shelves with fabric, patterns, and sewing supplies.
i have multiple sets of small wooden drawers that i store doll clothes, shoes, eyes and such in and i store the jewelry and glasses in a cufflink box which works perfectly. no idea where to store my wigs though
When I do not have my dolls displayed, I put them back into their original packaging. I also have my own doll room, where I am able to keep everything stored safely.
I keep my dolls in a display case, away from windows. They're safe from dust and my curious kitty behind the glass. I purposely bought a case with a lock, so that when I have kids one day, little hands can't get to my dolls too... As for extra clothes and wigs... I just keep them in the doll boxes in my closet, lol.
I have a freestanding plastic thing with drawers. I regret having that many clothes for dolls, but its come to that.
