    2. Since the start of waiting for my Apollo, I knew that it might take 6-8 weeks. I had other things to do, so I sort of switched gears, and focused on them. I knew I really shouldn't waste my time checking early on to see if he was coming yet, so I kind of put his arrival in the back of my mind. A lot of times, it actually would surprise me that I have another doll on the way.

Now, I'm more aware of it; I've finally bought him clothes, and he went out Thursday/Friday.

    3. Omg waiting is SO HARD! I'm currently waiting for my first SD & first boy's body to arrive. I'm really excited but I have to wait another 4-5 weeks still.

So, while waiting I try and make things for the doll I'm waiting for. (Example: Underwear, a chair, their back-story etc . . ) I also watch a lot of box opening videos on youtube (not recommended xD It's making more more impatient).

    4. I don't cope.
I'm waiting for two bodies and I'm going nutso.
      I'm impatient xDDD

Lol but seriously, I usually try to find a project to work on in the meantime. Ironically this time, its getting another doll together in the meantime. xD

    5. This is the hardest part of getting a doll! arghh I so hate waiting :...( I ordered a doll 2 weeks ago.. so I need around 6 to 8 weeks more of waiting... what I did for the past two weeks?

1.) get a name ( but it only took me one day to get a name)
2.) browse for her outfit, shoes and additional wigs
3.) look at the order status morning, lunch and evening
4.) stare at the company pictures

hahaha that's what I did for the past 2 weeks.. I don't know what I'm going to do for the next 6 to 8 weeks of waiting :doh

    7. When im waiting i watch a lot of box openings. And i go onto the waitig room forum a lot. I also look for wigs, clothes, eyes stuff like that for my doll. I think alot about the dolls personality and character. I basically just spend my free time on DOA looking at dolly things.

    8. I refreshed the order status at least...every hour when I was at home? I looked at other box openings of this doll (body). I watched box opening videos on YouTube. Ate too many sweet things.

As soon as I received the shipping note, I refreshed the tracking site like every...half an hour?

Right now, I am waiting for the last few hours (hopefully) to pass, the body should be in the courier truck and on the last way to my home.

If I did smoke, I think I would have already smoked about 5 or 6 cigarettes by now...Also slept very bad last night.

    9. ; ; i buy my doll things.

she has all of her clothes and eyes all ready. waiting for her wig, too.

but when i look at my doll's clothes and her pretty green eyes...i miss her even more!!!! and then i get just 1 more dress.

      i have a budget, but it's still hard. i compensate >_<

my new girls' girlfriend has become a hyper-obession of mine. i take soooo many photos of her and her little cousin to make up for my new doll that's on her way.

i also think of make-up. i'm debating a day of the dead face-up, or a normal looking face-up.

      i want both >____<;;;;

then i cry myself to sleep. but first, my wife kisses me and tells me to make her food. LOL!

    11. I just...forget about it. I know that sounds awful, but after a few days the excitement dies down, and there's really nothing you can do except wait. So I forget about it; I don't check the order status, I don't order anything for the doll (except a wig). I don't think about the bjd and when it arrives it's miraculous, because it's like a gift I almost wasn't expecting. I think it's more fun this way, because the excitement you feel when you see the box at your door is ten times greater than the excitement when you see "Order shipped" on the website.

    15. I don't cope very well with waiting either, but that might be because it took me two years to actually get around to order the doll I had been dreaming of.

Being on a sickleave for god knows how long I havE WAY TOO MUCH time to spend and I do spend it looking at things for my doll and... *slap self* I've been looking for a male for her too...
Luckily for me there are very few masculine males out there and none of the ones I've found have been looking good enough for her anyway. I'm still looking though.
And keeping myself busy isn't very hard as I have two cats as well to play with.
Today we assembled their new tree. Took me long enough and was really heavy to carry those three flights of stairs too.

But yeah.waiting kills...my wallet >.< which is already way too thin <.<
Im going to have to sell off my My Little Pony collection before going on a noodle diet :p

    17. I didn't realize it was going to take that long to get it when I ordered my first doll (still haven't gotten her!). I ordered a wig, which is going to make me mad whenever I see it because I'll think "Why didn't the doll come first? This wig is useless!" Or maybe that's being a little dramatic about it.

    20. I've got most of my dolls on layaway so far, with a 3-month wait time from when I finish paying. So, uh, I kind of have this 'waiting' thing down to a bit of an art form.

I spend a lot of time working out a name and a character for the new doll, and work out how they are going to fit into my doll collection. I work out what sort of wig I want them to have (style, colour, accessories). I work out what style of eyes they will have. I work out what outfit I want to make them (and, only occasionally, actually get that made before they arrive). Often I find photos other people have taken of the same doll, so I can reassure myself that I'm really going to love the doll when it arrives. I usually try to have at least one written piece for the character completed before their doll arrives (often just a meeting/interaction between them and another character already represented in my collection).

Once I've paid a doll off, I try not to think about it until it arrives. I allow myself some F5ing of the company site, until I know it's been shipped, but then I force myself not to think about it. I have to - it takes about three days for a doll to reach me by EMS, and if I weren't strict with myself, I probably wouldn't sleep a wink the entire time!

    22. Lately: Skyrimmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Generally: Heh, yeah, video games. Or any leftover planning / searching for bits and pieces for the incoming doll that I don't already have. I code my own doll site but adding a new "in waiting limbo" doll page only kills so much time... even if I whip them up a Dream Selfy to pretty up the page until I can take a proper picture. I also have quite a lot of people I watch on DevianTart plus Youtube subscriptions, webcomics, the Fear The Boot tabletop roleplaying podcast, and a couple of Escapist weekly episode shows. I keep busy... but I do also get major "want to roll around on the floor" moments... or chew on furniture or something.

-Internet window shopping/planning outfits/looking for commissioners
      -Planning/sketching possible photoshoots and photostories
-Looking at faceups to see what I'll want
-Planning on what he looks like
      -Developing a backstory

    28. I do a couple of things:

      - I run a BJD tumblr and that helps, A LOT. I don't know why but finding and posting pictures of other BJD's helps a lot, also sharing the news of what I do.

      - I 'internet window shop' a lot. I do buy things yeah, but it doesn't happen often.

      - I look for props or how to make props and what not.

      - I develop stories and work on the dolls character more.

      - I look up sewing machines and sewing tutorials.

    32. Hmm. For me, I seem to go through stages with my wait.
The first couple of weeks after ordering a new doll I'm crazy anxious and excited. Impatient and feeling like it'll be FOREVER until she finally ships.
During this phase, I usually go mad looking for owner pics of said doll, planning out her wigs/eyes/clothing style etc. Some basic personality/backstory, but not a whole lot because I find this changes a lot once they're here. Basically, I'll ignore all other hobbies (and as much homework as possible) at this point.

During weeks 3-8 or 10 I get exhausted from the excitement/anxiousness. I'll go through a bit of a "dollie burnout" and find other things to distract myself. Work and school help, but I'll suddenly be really interested in running, video games, reading etc. The new doll will be at the back of the mind but either consciously or subconsciously if I think of her again I'll push her to the back of my mind.

But then eventually, after about 8-10 weeks of waiting, I suddenly and inexplicably will get incredibly anxious again. I'll start obsessively counting out business days and will know exactly when new dollie should ship. This is when the real preparation phase begins.
I'll go through the wig and eye collection and shoe collection and sort out what I think might work. If there's nothing on hand I like, I'll order it. I'll make an outfit or two so they won't be naked upon arrival.
I stalk my email hourly waiting for the shipping notification and every subforum and thread I actively follow here will be filled with "OMGIWANTMYNEWDOLLIENOW~!!" kind of posts from me

I don't know if this counts as coping.... but it's what I do XD

      Hi all,

Dolls are expensive and if you're like me you spend a lot of time saving for dolls. So my question is this: what do you do while you're saving the money for the doll?

I find that I spend a lot of time just browsing doll shops, especially for clothes, accessories and wigs. Other than that I'm usually looking at that doll or other dolls I also like/want.

    39. I've only done layaways for when I order 2 or more dolls, actually. For me, I save up much differently than my friends do :3 I collect cameras, I have a lot of used, vintage, and antique cameras. I'll fix them up and re-sell them, that earns me a lot of cash all at once! :-)

I also buy CDs when I buy music, I get them at GoodWill and Salvation Army. I've only spent $40 or $50 dollars these last 3 months on music, and my itunes grew to 4,700 new songs. Then, I re-sell the CDs at this store nearby called CEX, they buy CDs and DVDs and video games. They'll give me 40% of the actual price of the CD, so I get a bigger profit.

So saving is very much different for me ^_^u

Wait-times, that's different ^3^ I buy my dolls clothes and their wig and stuff. I'm waiting for 2 dolls right now, and I've started to learn how to draw. I want to draw my dolls really bad! But I am NOT an artist. LOL!

I dunno if this is a normal "what do you do when you save for your dolls" scenario, but whenever I save up or wait for an incoming doll, I have a lot of doll-based dreams.

I don't really dream, I take medicine that makes me forget my dreams. Dreaming about dolls, or about books, are really the only dreams I ever remember. I've been like that since I was 7 years old!

...So, what else do I do when I wait for a doll? I nap! That way I can dream about my doll - LOL!

    41. I do layaways if given the option, so I pay on them as I wait for them to be made.

Usually, in that time, I prepare for them. Get their wig, eyes, clothes, pick a name, write their background story, plan them out, start role playing them. More often than not, if I don't connect with a character, I won't want the doll. So roleplaying them helps me decide for sure if I even want the doll/character. Sometimes, by the time I save up, I no longer want the character/doll, then I have a decent chunk of money for one I like more.

Planning and buying all the things that I need for the doll also helps. Eyes, shoes, wigs, clothes, and whatnot. I don't earn much so that takes time and careful planning. I think my longest wait was almost 6 months so I had lots of time for planning.

I also try to stay busy with other things. I try not to obsess too hard.

    45. I just recently bought and paid for my first full doll (I own a doll head already). So far... well at first I was going to focus on saving for his clothes, and figured that with a long wait (since dollshe seemed to be taking quite a while with orders), I could have everything ready for him... then I decided to save for a second doll.

So... I am basically coping by focusing most of my attention on saving for my second doll and first girl...though I can't resist checking my order status daily. :sweat

    49. This may sound weird, but I actually try not to think about a new doll too much while I'm waiting for it. I'd drive myself crazy if I obsessively checked my order status every day, so once my order is confirmed, I don't bother checking the order status for about 2-3 weeks. After that, I check it once a week or maybe ever 3-4 days. I only start stalking EMS or Canada Post or whatever when I get an actual shipping confirmation. Meanwhile, before shipping, I order their wig, eyes, outfit and accessories, and I get it all ready for when they arrive home.

    53. I have not even ordered my little one yet, but I am waiting quite impatiently for the company's Christmas event to begin. I mean, wouldn't it be silly to pass something like free shipping or a free doll just because you can't wait long enough?

But there is just no news...I have already asked the company about it, and they confirmed they will have something like a Christmas event. Aack! I just hate waiting (my weak spot).

And of course I already do shop for her. Though I have to pace myself, because it is much easier finding things for her than for her big parents.

    54. I kinda get a kick out of getting things in the mail, I have no idea why, I'm like a dog, I get so excited every day when the mail arrives even if it's boring mail. So when I'm EXPECTING something in the mail, I usually do a daily countdown using the longest shipping time estimate, so that if it arrives BEFORE the end of the countdown, it's just an awesome surprise! The whole process just makes me happy! ^ - ^ Although right now I've just payed the second layaway payment out of four on a body for my little girl June, and the first out of five for a Soom Photon Reaper head (SO COOOOL) so I have to deal with the waiting between payments..... I guess I kind of obsess over how much money I have at that point because it's the only thing stopping me from buying things all in one payment.

Even so, I still can't stand waiting once I really think about and realize how long I have to wait\have been waiting. -tableflip-

I'm the only person who loves getting the mail, so if I don't check it...we may end up with a week's worth of mail before someone realizes. When I was younger, I used to order free catalogs and stuff just to have something for me in the mail, lol.

I haven't ordered my first doll yet, so right now I'm saving up...which is still a kind of waiting. I'm looking at clothes, shoes, wigs, eyes. Just a ton of accessories that I already know I'll need. Plus, I spend a lot of time budgeting. Looking at what this and that costs, thinking of additional ways I'd be able to raise $$. Debating over if I want to save up for layaway or save up to buy all at once. That kind of stuff.

    56. I ordered a RS Chun from Junky Spot last week. It's been a while since I've had a doll on the way home.

I keep obsessively checking her tracking. In the mean time, I have bought her a wig and nice pair of eyes. I've also been looking at clothes for her but I've put off buying anything until I get a good look at her.

    57. I just ordered my first doll last Saturday, according the tracking info she should be here by this Friday:dance
so my wait time isn't bad at all but it's still driving me nuts (because I've been waiting to get her for over 4 years now)
I just look at her pictures on the site every spare moment I get and check her tracking a million times a day and browse DoA to make the time go by faster......even though I should be painting right now :sweat

    60. When I first ordered my first doll I obsessed over checking the shipping info. I had a constant tab open with the tracking site and I would refresh it every so often. When it got closer to the date that they would ship her, I had to know what time it was where I got her from (China-Illusion Spirit). I remember the last time I checked her tracker was when I was waiting for my morning class. When I saw that the tracker said she had been delivered I caught a bus home right away. But I also looked at a bunch of new arrival postings to get excited and a the tutorials to try and make her clothes.
