    2. I go through cycles first I'm super excited, then I calm down, and then when they're shipped I'm super excited again. I always try to behave normally but I also read more, character build, surf DoA frequently. I try to look at owner pics of the doll I'm getting, make stuff for him and obsess in general.

    3. Oh man, the wait for my first doll, I thought I would go crazy. I did my best to keep myself busy but that didn't really work, I was checking his status all the time. I decided to try and knit him a scarf before he arrived and that seemed to help.

Now I'm waiting for my second boy and already I can't wait for him to be home. I'm going to be knitting him a scarf too, so that should keep me busy. I think it’s kind of a tradition now, whenever a new doll comes home they get a scarf. ^_^

    4. I just ordered my second doll a week ago! @ A@
I'm a bit more excited about getting him more then my first girl. But not because he's more special.. But I've been saving for him for a while now. And am just supa excited to have finally ordered him! My girl doll, I got her pretty quick. So the waiting was actually not that bad. But I'm like checking my order status everyday! LOL. And I know it's going to stay the same until I get an e-mail saying they shipped it! BLEH! I'm goin' to go crazeh. But I think I do pretty good with waiting.. When I'm actually doing something. Since I work like 5 days a week, it's pretty easy to get my mind off of him. And It makes time go by pretty fast too, actually. Though, this week I don't work 'til Thursday... I don't know what I'm gonna do that take my mind off of things. I've ordered his wig with the doll, ordered his eyes... AND I've already bought him some clothes.. And it's only been a week! LOL. I think time needs to speed up. XD

    5. I'm in the last two weeks of my first semester of college so at the moment I cope by devoting myself to my studies leaving no room for doll thoughts but to be completly honest I'm not sure what's going to happen once the semesters over.

    6. Augh, waiting is about my least favorite thing in the world. Fortunantly for me, my roomie has another doll she lets me play with to help pass the time. I'm on day 47 today (yes, I absolutely count the days, and I am FREAKING out because I'm leaving for PA in 11 days!!), but I lost track of time between about day 28 and day 40, because of a few stressful events (boss got fired and we all got shuffled around, my grandmother died, etc..), so I missed a goodly chunk of time in there that I could tick off the calendar.

Why not fill your life with traumatic experiences to help you forget your anxiety over waiting for your doll? Worked for me! XD

In all seriousness though, I've been stalking DoA hard, waiting for a chance to register, for probably over a month, and I've immersed myself in the local chapter of the BJD community. Between that, and work (work? Why would I work when I'm at work?), and keeping the house from falling into disarray, I try to keep my mind off of her pending arrival. FAIL.

    7. At work I find other things to do than to think about my first doll (nasty, stupid collegues), but after work I can't think about anything else. I hate waiting (I even hate to wait some minutes for the train) T.T

    9. Update: 58 days since ordering, to the day, and I'm taking off for PA at midnight tonight. And still no word from DDE that my girl has arrived. Now I really AM freaking out. I'm gonna be stalking my email like crazy, waiting for that arrival notice! (Thankfully, I've got it set up with DDE for them to email me the moment they register her arrival, and I can have her shipped either to AZ or PA, depending on where I am in the Christmas Travel process when she arrives - I just have to give them an address.)

How will I keep my brainmeats otherwise occupied whilst in transit from point AZ to point PA? Well, airports are a great distraction. They're noisy, full of people (either to watch, or to avoid, depending on your pleasure), and there are giant windows, outside of which there are great mechanical beasts that fly with bellies full of people from one part of the world to another - I like to watch the beasts eat the luggage. That's fun.

Aside from that, there will hopefully be some SNOW in PA while I'm there, and that should distract me for a good bit (first the novelty, then the fun, then complaints of cold and wetness).

    12. hmm If I have not purchased their eyes and wigs yet, I do that and I may buy them little items. For my first doll, I made a space for him and now I clean up the area and make room for the new ones. I don't feel too anxious about it anymore but when I have a lot of free time and am waiting on a doll, it is pretty much all I can think about. Aside from gathering all of the papers that contain the character's story and thinking about how my new one will interact with the others, the thing I do the most to cope with the waiting is reading threads and posting here on DOA.... actually, that is why I am posting this now. *is currently waiting on two dolls*

    13. I ordered my AoD Rao on December 8th as my birthday present.

      It's now December 23rd.

My birthday is on December 26th.

      :*(

      She won't arrive until January...!

Anyways, how do I cope? Simple. Harass Angel of Dream! <3 <3 <3

Kidding, kind of. They have very kind staff and I try and be as calm and nice as possible. but I am SOOO EXCITED!! I just keep posting and asking in their forums if they know my dolls ship date yet. :)

    14. It's been only two weeks since I ordered my first doll and it will be about 4 more before it has a chance at shipping. And that's being optimistic with what the good people at Fairyland consider "working days"... I entertain myself with putting money into the face-up and clothing fund and picking out things I can't afford...

The real disappointment to me at this point is that she's a very rare mold and there are next to no pictures of her that I could find -_-. It might have been cool if I was concerned with having a rare doll and such but at this point I'm more interested in seeing owner pics than in being unique >_<

    15. Laime, I had the "rare mold- few owner pics" issue with my first doll too.... and my second, third, forth, and one of the ones I am waiting on now. XD
If you're good with photoshop, or pencils and markers, and can find a blank head shot, you can get an idea of how the doll will look with different types of hair, eyes, and faceups pretty easily.
What kind of doll is she? Have you started/bumped a picture request thread?

    17. How do I cope with the waiting?
      Simply, I don't wait.

I place the order, make sure it's ok and they receive payment and stuff and forget about it.
Keeping myself busy bu reading forums, looking at other dolls and selecting clothes and wigs for the newcomer xD
And then -poof-surprise- the box arrives! xD

    18. Honestly, this is the first time I've ever really had to wait too long for a doll. The first one I bought at a con from a dealer. The second one was a gift for my birthday. The third one was something I bought from a friend (though she lived in another state and had to ship him, she did so very quickly). And now I've just finally ordered a new doll. He is being molded. And I have to wait for that, THEN wait for international shipping.

... It's driving me insane. I bought him some pajamas. I am checking DoA religiously. Almost as often as I check deviantart (WHICH IS WAY TOO MUCH). I'm trying to decide on names, though this is hard without having him here with me, and I am trying to figure ways to afford clothes so he won't be naked when he gets to me. Coming up with projects to keep my mind occupied and pass the days quickly is agonizing. D; Having a new doll will be nice but... I seriously see the advantage in just buying a gently used one again from now on.

    19. Now that I have a date of arrival, the waiting isn't actually that bad. :) I can fill my head with other things, because I have a timeline. That's what makes me crazy to begin with, the uncertainty, lol.

    20. My first wait wasn't bad until the end. I think I forgot I had even ordered a doll up until the last three weeks of my eight week wait. Oh, but those three weeks were extremely painful. I wanted my doll so badly. I never received a shipping notice, so I can't say how I'll react once I get the shipping notice for my second doll. This time around waiting doesn't seem as bad (yet), but I always find myself thinking "wow, I have this many weeks left STILL...."

    21. I just got my first doll and the wait was terrible! I took a picture of the site's promo pic on my phone and set it as my background so I could see her whenever I looked at my phone, it made it a bit less stressful because it reminded me she was on the way. I had hoped she'd be here by christmas and a big doll-sized box came and I got all excited until I found out it was just a bunch of books my mom had ordered T~T My mom refused to tell me if the vendor had emailed her that my doll was on the way ("to keep me in suspense" my mom said. She was so right! I was really anxious for her to arrive), so I figured she was still being shipped to America on christmas day. 6 days later (new years eve) she gets here and the excitement and suspense all paid off!

    22. I ordered for my first doll on 16-dec-09
announced leadtime is : 6 - 7 weeks (shipping not included)

      I'm just obsessing about her
and the worst, it's that as I'm new in the BJD world I need to teach myself about many things.
so that's means : reading messages on the forum , see all pictures, read the messages concerning the box arrival !
      just horrible for me !!!
I began by ordering some outfilts.. but ...
      I needed her badly.. :?

So I just ordered for a new doll, in stock to a USA Seller
so I just will have to wait 1 week at least now

so I could wait for my first ordered doll in harmony and peace !!

    24. For my first doll, I was chcecking the tracking info daily, I was totally impatient, and I only had to wait just over a week... (luckily)

Now I'm waiting for a Volks DD Mashiro Mito, which I ordered on xmas, and is scheduled to ship in feb. I'm holding out ok at the moment, as whenever I start thinking about my new doll I will go and check on my other, which is soothing, but I'm sure I'll be awful again once I know she is actually on her way.

    27. I mark the days on my calendar whiteboard ^__^ eight weeks flew by. Now he's shipped and I stalk my window every day.
As for waiting, I learned how to sew, planned my doll family, and wrote music/stories to try and distract myself. Didn't always work, but some days were better than others. It's just something you have to take day by day and take comfort in the fact that they'll be here eventually.

    28. I just ordered my very first doll about a week and half ago, and yeah, the wait is already driving me up the wall. Still, I'm trying to keep myself occupied (when work and classes don't help) by making him things. So far, he's got a little room on top of a cupboard -though that may turn into a shelf inside the cupboard- with a bed, a little night table and a cushion to sit on. I'm also knitting and crocheting him some things to wear as I don't want him to be naked all the time.

I'm also learning everything I can about the hobby and I'm hopeful that the time will fly by.

    30. I'm waiting for my first doll too. The waiting is killing me! What I've done is pick out wig, eyes and an outfit so she has all the necessities when she arrives. After that I browse DoA and look at other BJDs and try to familiarize myself with things like restringing, face-ups, and the works. But now I still have a week left and nothing to do... guess I'll just have to bug my family til she gets here!! :)

    31. when I ordered Carousel, I thought the wait would kill me. I was so excited! But after the first few weeks, I sort of forgot to check my status for a little while (I do that). I checked and suddenly it was on shipping! I went and checked trackign and it was on delivery. I got him the next day <33 so it was kind of crazy, but I was moving in the middle of it, so I didn't go too crazy.

Craven on the other hand, he's been a different story. I know have the money for him now, but he won't be ordered until the end of the month *fidget* Then I still have to wait. -.- I'm hoping he doesn't take too long to ship, since I'm getting him blank. ARGH. I've been pining to get this doll for over a year, searching for the right sculpt for the character and everything. And now I can get him, and I still have to wait.

In all... I don't cope very well -.- I'm hoping to make the wait time pass a little faster by working on Carousel and seeing if I can at least get him dyed.

    41. I'm usually pretty mellow about waits, but I just ordered the girl to be the character I've been wanting to get for aaages and I'm going to pop! I'm passing the time by looking for clothes/shoes/wig for her (got the eyes in a preorder months ago, lol), and hunting for faceup refs and an artist to paint her. Though I wish I knew how long the wait was going to be. I ordered her body during an event and the wait time is rather vague, somehow not knowing makes it worse so I'd suggest checking to see how long your wait is going to be! xD

Also, I find that focusing on the dolls I already have helps. I just send two of my girls off for faceups, and I have a few little things I want to buy for them. And photo sessions are a great diversion too! ;)

I would get really excited when I saw one, and automatically depressed when it didn't stop at my house. 55. I don't cope!
I spend even more money ordering loads of stuff for my incoming doll, annoy my boyfriend by constantly updating him with how long I've been waiting and get excited/dissapointed everytime I see a post office van drive down the street. Then I camp out in the arrivals thread looking for owner pics and fret with the others waiting in the relevant waiting room thread.
I've usually got a high tolerance for waiting but not when it comes to dolls, I just can't put my incoming boy out of my mind, even though I've been really busy lately. I went for a walk through some woods yesterday and saw some good spots for photoshoots so I'm even more impatient now.
(It's been 35 days so far!)

    57. I mostly draw, look at other owner's pictures of the same doll (and imagine what it'll be like to own that doll), and I DON'T count down the days. Because that makes waiting reaaaally hard for me XD

Considering I waited 7 months for a doll before, I kind of forgot I even ordered her. That's pretty bad.

    58. Try to keep myself busy like searching for stuff at the toy store that she might use. Also solidifying her character, thinking of her name, etc. Sometimes draw her and what would I do if she comes damaged. Doing this makes me think less of the waiting time.

    59. I had a hard time waiting for Harbor, my first doll, to come home, but then I got a different doll while I was waiting, and that really made the wait bearable. But then when she came, I was unhappy with her faceup, so I wiped it and sent her off to get a new one...And I am finding the wait excruciating. Much worse than waiting for her to get here. Maybe it's because the wait is shorter...Also, I am expecting the pictures of the finished faceup any day now, so everyday that passes that I don't get them makes me more keyed up and impatient. I just want her to be perfect and in my arms again. It helps a bit having her body still, but not much. Mostly I've just been going crazy buying things...But at least I have the excuse of Christmas.
