Haru Casting Adori Discussion

Jan 27, 2016

    1. Congrats :)

I was wondering if I'd see this little guy here when I saw the images Sioux shared of him. Sioux does such great work, she has done all of the custom work on my dolls (sadly all the off topic dolls so can't share :sweat) and I have a 5 year old niece who still adores the doll I had Sioux do up for her three years ago :whee: Glad to see she's still on top form.

Will you be re-naming him or will he remain as Adori? :aheartbea

    2. Yeah, I'd mostly seen her doing the off topic dolls but I was looking for a UK face up artist and her website mentioned BJDs, so I asked and she was happy to discuss. (I've already planned to send her another doll that currently has a company face up I'm not keen on.)

He's going to get a new name, but I don't have one yet - need to do some research into what would work, and wait for the character to develop. I always find it hard to name them until they have the right hair on.

    3. Being told there's absolutely no way I can get an Adori this pre-order is extremely heartbreaking. I really want a little elf Adori ;A;

    4. I'm sorry to hear this, NamelessPierrot, but I know exactly where you're coming from. I was planning to buy my little tan Adori girl this time, but things happened and the plan had to be shelved. I was crushed, too.

I'm hoping there will be another Adori order period in about six months, and I will have cash for it.

    5. I recall him saying somewhere that he hopes to do another pre-order around Christmas. ^_^

    6. I'm very excited, I'll be placing my pre-order for a black pearl adori when I deposit my next pay check! I can't wait, I have some big plans for her character! :love I love the little cuties.

    7. I don't know if I'll be able to get an adori this time either, though I sincerely hope it works out.

    8. I just paid the second half of my layaway for an elf adori this morning. I'm excited about getting this doll. He's going to be the only little boy in my stories, Rylad. :D

    9. I hope you all get your Adoris, I'm looking forward to seeing the rainbow of colors!
I'd forgotten that I got two wigs for my girl before she arrived, and found the second one while digging through my small-wig box. I think this is going to be my favorite--two little braids and loose fly-aways. It's a Monique "Tessie".

    10. She is wonderful! I love her wig and her outfit.

    11. Thanks, @bluepita! The outfit is a mashup but my daughter made the sweater coat.

    12. She's incredibly talented. It looks fantastic!

    13. I hope you're right, aernath -- that would be perfect timing for me!

I'm also wondering how soon we'll see Nanni become available. I know he was planning to do a giveaway once he reached a certain number of followers. She's also supposed to have three different head options. And I wonder if the release will coincide with another Adori order period. (Updated to add: he's saying on Instagram that Nanni's chubby body will be cast next month.)

Looking way, way down the road: he's also said that he's going to sculpt dolls of all three of his kids, so I'm really curious about when we will see the prototype of Adori's eldest sister. (Updated to add: her name is Maji, and he says she will be MSD sized!)

These are the things I think about, to distract myself from the feelings of loss and resignation over having to sit out this Adori order period!

    14. @phanuel That wig is so cute! The perfect length too!
That sweater coat is lovely. I like the colors, and it looks very well made!

    15. @aernath My daughter has become very adept at knitting. I don't know how she finds the time with a toddler running around but I'd like to convince her to make some more doll things, if I can find patterns.

    16. @phanuel and then convince her to open an etsy shop so we can buy some too! ;)

    17. All of this gorgeous knitwork, from El BJD and from phanuel's daughter -- I'm in awe! I barely know the difference between knit stitch and purl, so seeing work this tiny and this well-done just blows me away.

    18. I have managed to purchase a Adori head on the second hand market, all I'm waiting on is her body which is taking forever to arrive

    19. Has anybody purchased an OnlyDoll Pink skin body for their Adori Peach Normal skin head. I am not impressed with the body at all. Posing isn't great compared to Fairyland dolls so on a search for a better body.

    20. I had an OnlyDoll normal yellow body for my Adori Volks Normal head, until the Adori body went on sale. I restrung it right away because the arms were too tight to pose well. Color match was fine, not perfect but close enough for my purposes.

I'm glad to have the official body now. But I was thinking about getting the OnlyDoll body back out for the second head, just to increase my photo possibilities. The OnlyDoll body doesn't pose as well, but I don't really have any other bodies to compare against.

    21. I think I may restring too then as the arms are too tight, I don't know why I didn't think of it but thank you for responding DollSewist.

    22. I just read this whole thread and I now know the dolls that I will be planning for next. So sorry I missed the June/July order period.

There wasn’t a picture here that didn’t pull on my heart strings. . .

    23. Hii~ I'm looking for a wig for my Adori! His head is slightly smaller than other bjds and he is my first bjd overall so I've been finding it hard to shop around successfully! I've been in search for a short brunette wig. The wig I have now is brunette but it's surprisingly too thick and swallows his head. So maybe a thinner wig could work? If anyone knows where I can find a wig that fits my descriptions for a good price (plus shipping) I'd really appreciate it!

    24. @MaddaSavva My girl Adori Kiki wears a wig from Kemper doll. Its 6/7 and was quite cheap. It gives her that little child messy hair kind of look

    25. @samson, I love that tousled bob! @MaddaSavva, I have a box of 6/7 wigs and some fit better than others, there's really a lot of variation from company to company and style to style. My boy has a 6/7 wig by Fatiao that I purchased from Etsy. It's a smidgeon poofy but that's the nature of most short styles. You just have to style it a bit.

    26. thank you both! I'll be sure to check out both companies to see if I find one I like.

    27. Now that the shipping date is approaching, I'm panicking. Lol, I got so excited about getting an Adori, I just focused on that instead of figuring out what to do with it. I don't even know if mine is going to be a girl or boy! All of my dolls except one are girls, but Adori looks so cute both ways. Anyone else getting super excited about maybe having theirs home in the next month?

    28. Did you order a full doll ?

    29. Yep. I ordered the girl body, because I don't really worry too much about the body gender matching, lol.

    30. I know how you feel! I really want one, but I can't decide between making it a boy or a girl either. I like sewing for girls better, but Adori makes such a cute boy! If I could afford it, I think I'd get two. I can't decide between two of the skin tones either.

    31. I may end up with another some day in another color. I had the hardest time deciding. I finally just picked one of the three or four on my list kind of randomly. I just decided any decision was better than none, lol. Adori may end up with boy & girl clothes to match how I feel each day.

    32. I did that, too! My Adori is a boy, but I found some gorgeous YoSD dresses that I was just crazy for, and I finally cracked and bought them for the doll. Adori wears whatever looks most interesting or appropriate - sometimes it's a sparkly party dress, and sometimes it's overalls.

    33. @bluepita & @DollSewist I used to work in a nursery and there was a little boy who used to love to put on the princess dresses. Fortunately no one discouraged him

    34. Lol, I have a picture of my husband, daughter, niece, and nephew all dressed up as princesses for playtime. It's one of my favorites.

I thought originally my Adori would be a boy. I have only one, and he is a 16 cm. But, everyone's girls are so cute. I guess we'll see. Pants are just so hard to sew when you don't know what you are doing, lol.

    35. Make him a kilt! Then you can see how he looks in a skirt without changing his sex. ;)

    36. Im a bit greedy and have a girl and boy adori :blushso can satisfy my need for girly girly and boyly boy stuff lol. I still dont see any need to restrict yourselves to what is considered gender appropriate clothing ;)

    37. Samson, that's exactly the conclusion I came to - I was startled to realize that I had somehow absorbed this idea of gendered clothing for dolls, and I'm actively working to uproot this from my thinking. I mean, I applaud actual children for refusing to be limited to gendered clothing, so why did I apply it to my dolls?!

And in on-topic news: I sent my Adori heads out to be professionally faced-up this morning. I don't know how long it's going to take - this is all very new to me - and I can tell I'm going to be a bundle of nerves the entire time those doll heads are gone. I already miss him terribly.

    38. Most of my dolls wear dresses, because that's what I can sew, lol. I think Adori will just have whatever I like. I don't worry too much, but I wish I had a bit more of my mind made up about him. I got him a wild purple wig for now, but he's really supposed to be the youngest of one set of my Iplehouse, who all look more realistic. Oops, I guess the few plans I had are changing. :)

    39. Oh, I can't wait to see...

    40. I'm so happy right now as Haru let me order a body a few days ago for my Adori, I really didn't like the Onlydoll body suggested for the peach normal skin tone.:dance

    41. I just got a shipping notice from Haru for my Adori boy body. YAY!!!:D

    42. Congrats! I didn't see mine in the first shipment, but it's so exciting to see the first batch go out.

    43. Mine is customs for 4 days. I have sent the bill -_- ' Do you know if Haru said the real value ? Thank you

    44. I got mine few days ago and he put $45 value on the package. This is my second time ordering from him and I am pretty sure he put a lower value on my last order too.

    45. Yes, it took less
But I have sent the real bill.
      That's the game.

      Thank you for answering :)

    46. Ladies and gentlemen: What are you all doing for pants for Adori?

I'm finding that a lot of my YOSD pants are just too small - they slide down and give him builder's bum as soon as I have him sat down at all. Right now he's in some borrowed Iplehouse KID pants, which at least fit width ways.

Any suggestions on where to look?

    47. Hello,
She arrived this morning after 15 days in customs and 43 € in less ^^

    48. Interesting. I haven't had a problem with his pants fitting properly, and I bought his jeans from Alice's Collection and his knits from Denver Doll, if I didn't make them myself. His khakis came from DD, too, now that I think about it.

Rokidyal, that's so great! I'm so happy to start seeing the latest Adorii show up, and I'm a sucker for gray dolls.

    49. Hello
She're not gray is the effect of the photo ^^
      Thank :)

    50. Ah. Well, shoot. She looks good gray! Maybe I can someday buy an Adori in that skin color myself, since I'm obviously drawn to it. :)

    51. Is there a waiting room for Adori somewhere? I'm just a bit anxious waiting on my doll to arrive (first doll ever, so I'm hoping things go smoothly) and wanted to see how many others are waiting too :)

    52. I'm still waiting on mine. I don't think there is a waiting room? I'm a little worried too because they posted pictures of the first ten they sent out then nothing except the casting for other people after. I'd love to see more Adori's being made and sent out!

    53. Hi. Can someone kindly explain how to order these folks please (and perhaps put it on the info post?). I've skim read the thread and saw someone mention that you had to copy this thread on to your blog post and then copy the link to the company but I don't have a blog. Can you just email them direct? Does anyone know when the next order period is or how long orders take? Also is there a post with the colour options somewhere? I've found the page that lists the colours but I can't see any examples.

      Many thanks.

    54. I am waiting on two Adoris also, I've had nothing other than an acknowledgement from Haru when I paid. I hope that they will be ready soon, its a long wait.

    55. I follow Haru Casting on flickr: Haru casting
You can see what they're up to, including when they open a new ordering period. That's also where I ordered my Adori. It's a little more complicated than ordering through a website, but once you post on flickr you continue communicating through email and any problems are quickly and easily resolved.
They also have a tumblr blog, but I prefer going through flickr.
I'm also waiting for the next ordering period as I'm interested in Nanni. I think I heard that there will be a pre-Christmas one.

    56. The process for ordering for me was sending an email to the address listed on their Flickr. They wanted my Flickr ID name as well as any other social media I D you have ( I believe to prove you are a real person and not a spy from a recasting company), a written statement that you do not buy recasts or support that , and a statement that you will not cancel your order. I think he does this for his own protection because these are his own intellectual property and separate from his main business of casting for other artists, and because these are portraits of his own children which he would not want to fall into the wrong hands.
As for next pre order , I think you have to follow him on Flickr and watch for it. His website shows sample colors and lists the available bodies and heads but is a bit difficult to navigate.

    57. Yeah, It's the same reason for me too! Too bad about no waiting room tho. :'(

    58. You can start a waiting room, you know.

    59. He said it would be a little while before the next set shipped. The first pre-order of Adoris went out in batches like this, so I wouldn't worry to much. I doubt they'd mind if you sent a message asking, though. They seem very pleasant.
