40–49cm Dolls Harper the Spider [Nudity]

Never sculpted a BJD before, so hey, let’s make a massive spider to go with my DC Pluto and my sister, WoodlandFae’s, Spider Lily doll that she’s sculpting.
So far I only have the plans drawn out, but I plan to start sculpting the head today. So we’ll see how that goes.

Got some of the head sculpt done today.
Started with the base made with DAS paper clay, and then when that dried, sketched out the plans for the face.

After that I carved the head open and carved out where the eyes and mouth will be. The mouth looks a little odd right now, but I wanted it to be open enough to add her teeth before I add her lips.

Decided to go with the face-plate style head because of how many eyes she has. Figured it would be torture to try to adjust her eyes if she only had a head cap.

It all looks pretty rough right now, but I’m happy with the “sketch” so far. Had to put her up though until my apoxie sculpt arrives. Don’t want to add any more detail until the stronger stuff arrives.
