Ordering Grenado ordering help?

Nov 30, 2024

    1. I'm at work right now so I might not be able to respond quickly.
Would anyone be willing to to help me with info on ordering from Grenado?
I would like to order a 1/6 scale male doll from Grenado. I have never ordered a BJD before. I would like to do a full set. Head, body, eyes, wig, clothing, etc.
Can that be done? Maybe I'm dumb, but I found that the website doesn't have all the info I am looking for. I'm even guessing on which bodies are are the 1/6 scale.

    2. I have not ordered directly from Granado, but i've been ordering BJDs since 2015, so lets see what I can help with.

So, I/m going to use 31 Lucent as my example for how to order the full doll. This page is technically for the Lucent head, which is priced at $48, so the body will be more. At the bottom of the listing I've linked is a photograph of the different bodies that are available all side by side, but I'll link them here.

you can order the 30 Zen body, the 31 Ascent body, the 32 Adagio body, or the Vigor body, which does not have it's own listing in that size, but here is the SD-sized version, which it was scaled down from, so it will look like this, but be ~30 cm and not 70cm, and it will cost less than the SD body linked. There are additional 1/6 bodies that are not available with this head, namely the 33 Regal body and the 32/33 Evolve body. I don't know why they're not offered on the Lucent listing, but you could email Granado and ask--maybe the neck sizes are incompatible. I got this list by looking at the body parts section, and selecting every male body in the 30's. The male bodies without sizes listed are 1/3 scale, as Granado originally only did 1/3, and the male bodies with sizes between 40-59 are 1/4 scale bodies.

The circles lined up at the top of the listing are resin colours--at the bottom of the listing is an image of the same doll, cast in each colour they make. I believe there is a small upcharge for the darker shades, but you can only see it when you select all your options, and then click into different colours and see how the price changes.

Open eyes or closed eyes pretains to whether you'd rather have insertable eyes, or painted eyes. Dolls with painted eyes are off-topic to DoA, but could be discussed in the brigadoon section of the forum, dolls with insertable eyes are on-topic, and can be discussed anywhere on the forum, but it's entirely your choice which you'd prefer.

that's all you can get from this listing, a blank doll, with or without a body, in a resin colour of your choice, with either open or closed eyes. you'll have to add other things to your cart to get more of a fullset doll.

If you would like your doll painted, here is the listing. They have examples of each faceup style in the images on the listing. If you select headcap painting, they do not paint the face, they just paint the hair on the headcap, so add that to your cart if you'd prefer painted hair to a wig.

If you selected open eyes, the eye size is listed on the listing--it's 6.5mm, which is a fairly uncommon size. Typically, eye sizes go by every 2 mm (6, 8, 10, etc), but granado sells 6.5 mm eyes in a few colours at this listing here that you can find, or you could look elsewhere for small-iris 6mm eyes. on a 'typical' eye. the iris is half the size, so a 6mm eye will have a 3mm iris. These have an iris that is much smaller than half the eye--i'd guess it's 1.5-2mm instead of 3, so if you decide to buy eyes elsewhere, go for small iris 6mm, rather than regular iris.

The head circumference is 9.2 cm of the Granado 30 guys, which gives us 3.6 inches (for some reason, wigs are sized in inches, when everything else in this hobby is in Cm/mm, I don't know why.) If you want more choices for wigs, you can look for size 3-4 wigs. Most wigs marked 1/6 will not fit, they're designed for the more stylized, baby-looking typical 1/6, not a mature 1/6, and will be a fair bit bigger than his head, but wigs around 9.2 cm, or 3-4 inches will work on him. The fur wigs granado sells are exclusively for their 1/3 sized boys, and will be very large on him (20cm compared to 9.2, this will not fit).

Granado does not sell clothes anywhere on their website, but you can look up 1/6 scale clothes, and compare their measurements to the measurements of the body that you choose.

      Hope this helps~!

    3. I would write Granado on their Q&A board (you have to have an account and be logged in to see it) with the sculpt and options you want and they can tell you whether it’s possible or not and explain what you need to do. They don’t always have the clothing for each mold’s fullset available, but they can tell you what they can get for you and about how long it’ll take to come in. (There is a lot more on their Taobao store and if you ask on the English site they’re usually really nice and will let you order clothing if they can.)

Something to keep in mind though is that Granado 1/6 scale dolls are really hard to clothe (I have a few myself), so if they can’t help you with clothing it might not be an ideal first doll. I just sold one of my girls because I got tired of sinking money into trying to get her things.

    4. Thank you SOOOOOOO much for all the help and work you put into this!!!! This is very, very helpful!!! And you put a lot of time into it also. Thanks so much!! And Lucent is the one I'm probably ordering!

Thank you. This is also helpful. Unfortunately, I need a 1/6 scale male and Grenado is the only place I know to get one. But I will definitely look for their English page to get answers to the clothing issue. I have heard of Taobao stores, is that different than their website?

    5. I'm glad I could help! I remember how overwhelming all of this was when I was new, so I'm glad I can do something to make this less overwhelming for you!!

    6. While there is nothing wrong with Granado, they make great dolls, there are other options out there as well that you may want to take a look at.
Here is the current discussion thread for all mature 1/6 dolls. Check the earlier threads as well, they are liked in the first post.

    7. Thank you! A lot of the tiny dolls mentioned are discontinued, though Xaga, and Myou still have some. Grenado seems to have the most mature looking ones that I can find. The other two still look a little boyish/young for what I need. But it's fun to go back and look at all the pics. I just wish we could get 1/6 scale dolls that look as mature and detailed as some of the 1/4 and 1/3 dolls.

    8. I have the Granado Adagio 2 body and it can pretty easily fit a lot of casual clothes for action figures. Has some problems with more tailored clothing because action figures usually have thicker necks so a fitted suit might look baggy around the neck.

Clear lan | dresses for doll | Momoko clothes | Nippon Misaki clothes| Blythe clothes| Lati-Yellow clothes| doll clothes | clearlan is a maker that does make clothing to fit granado specifically.

    9. Howdy!
I have ordered directly from Granado, and they are lovely. On their English website at the bottom, there is a "QnA Board" icon you can click. You will be able to message them directly. I would use simple, short sentences (machine translation, and English is a difficult language).
Now that they are having their Xmas sale, this is the perfect time to order your doll!
You need to choose your doll by face sculpt, and then select a body.
You can ask them which makeup service you should select, or they will quote you directly.
Eyes are available under Accessories, and Granado makes perfect little tiny optional hands if you want a set ($80 for four pairs - but there may be an additional charge for certain resin colors).
As far as clothing goes, Granado generally sells limited outfits (full sets) during promotional periods, so you will likely need to shop elsewhere for an outfit.
Another option is to ask a dealer, like Legend Doll. They may have outfits that will fit your desired doll, even if those outfits aren't made specifically by Granado. Same with wigs. Tiny little heads need tiny little wigs.

    10. I bit the bullet and ordered a Lucent on the Adaigo body with eyes and make-up. So I will definitely need to get some clothing. Thank you for the info!!
I just went to the link for clothing you shared. The clothing for the dolls is really nice!!

    11. I just broke down and ordered a Grenado Lucent with eyes and make-up. I will need to find clothing and a wig so thank you for the info on the clothing.

    12. Do you know what size shoes I would look for? I was told of a place that makes clothing specifically for them, but not shoes.
      Thank you!

    13. So according to Granado's website, the 30Zen body has foot measurements of 3.8 by 1.3 cm. Interestingly enough, this is about the same size as a Ken doll.
It's also very close to the Obitsu 27 cm male doll foot size (also the 30 cm). Parabox carries some nice, mature shoes for Obitsu men.

    14. Thank you so much!! Apparently, I need to go back to the Grenado website and do a better job of looking around. I never saw the measurements listed.

    15. The Grenado website says it takes about 70 days to ship a full doll. Are they pretty good about delivery times, or do they usually take longer? I have seen comments in the past about some people waiting on dolls for 4-5-6 months or more. I don't want to get too excited when the time is near if they usually take longer. This is the first BJD I have ordered from outside the US. The only other BJD doll I have came from Denver Dolls and it was an in stock doll so didn't take long at all.

    16. They are usually pretty good about delivery times. Please note that 70 days refers to 'business days' though, so it doesn't count weekends and public holidays. Also Chinese New Year this time is at the end of Jan 2025 and Granado will probably be on holiday for a week or more then.

    17. I did know about business days but did not realize about Chinese New Year. But at least I know it will be a long-ish wait. Will feel like forever though because I am so excited to see him! LOL.

    18. Hi; New ro this thread and really new to posting on DoA. Have you considered looking at Jamieshow Muse Dolls? They are available in both male and female, 1/4 and 1/6. They aren't technically BJD because they have painted eyes but they might be worth investigating. Good Luck.
