Granado's Vindolls part 1

Jan 12, 2017

    1. @animemom, that's a perfect compromise! I hope they make more for those who want big fellas without the weight. There are many, many collectors who have a problem with the heft of big resin but want the size.

      • x 1

    2. I only have one resin. Most of my collection is vynil dolls :)
      I have
      On Topic:
Tangerine (Dollfie Dream dynamite body, and head 03-NS)
Dorian (Iplehouse F.I.D Lawrence- NS) (for sale)
Lotus (Dollfie Dream dynamite body, and head 10- semi white)

      Off Topic:
      Panchita (Smart doll Ebony)
3 Robert Tonner dolls: Miss Piggy dolls one 16" and one 11" inch, 11" Kermit the frog.
      3 Barbies
      1 fashion royalty Vanessa Perrin
      5 Azone PureNeemo
      1 Azone Kikipop Juice
2 Phicen doll (1 female and 1 male)

I recently sold my two Obitsu girls :)

    3. Thanks. Those I have are mostly keepers for rest of my life.

      • x 3
    4. I'm one of them. When I started the hobby I used to have many resin dolls, but they were to heavy for me. I'm a short guy 5'5. I found out my DD more easy to handle so I sold my resin crew and got just DDdy girls. I was so happy with them until I had to make the hard decision to sell them to become a USA citizen. I been living 20yrs in the country so I figure it was time to gain a voice. I don't regret the decision but I missed having dolls so much. So I started again.

I have accumulated all this dolls in 1 1/2 year and everytime I say no more I end up buying another LOL

That so cool. So far the only dolls I don't see myself selling are my Robert Tonner Miss Piggy dolls and my smart doll Ebony.

But so far I'm happy with my current collection. I'm only selling my Iplehouse FID guy for stupid reasons. I'm a guy so every time I buy clothes for my male dolls I feel very guilty because I'm always thinking I could have buy something similar for myslef for that money or sometimes for less of what I pay for their clothes. So now that I been seeing owner pictures of Udell I can tell he will be a handful and I will want to spoil him a lot. So I'm 100% sure I will end up neglecting my Iplehouse guy. So I rather him go to a good home where he will get the attention he deserves.

It is funny how I can buy expensive outfits for my female dolls and I don't feel guilty I feel very happy instead, but for my male dolls I'm always very hesitant to buy clothes :p

    5. @MrFjmg2003 congratulations on becoming a US citizen! :thumbup

I have the opposite issue being female, I prefer guy dolls and buying their clothes is no problem. I only have two female dolls out of the 15 bjds I own. My biggest girl is a DD with a 06 head named Star Elise, and the other is a Doll Chateau Fiona named Jubilee. Star Elise is easy to shop for as DD have so many selections. Jubilee is naked right now as she has a really odd body, and girly frilly clothing is not what I've ever wanted for myself, so finding it in doll size has been difficult. I like the style, but having issues liking it in real life. :vein I freeze up at the buy it now button.

Oh, and I'm going to wait until Friday to check my package. No use getting antsy too soon! I'm hoping he will be in the US by then so I can get an estimate day of delivery. I hope he comes through San Francisco as they are fast!

    6. :doh I feel as if notifications on this entire forum are only working about a third of the time...

I'm like you, @kurogane in that I prefer male dolls and only have a few female ones. I've certainly spent money on my girls' clothes in the past, costuming them for shows, but I don't get the same enjoyment out of buying stuff for my female dolls as I do for my male dolls. Aubrey, in particular, has an expensive wardrobe (and his own armoire to keep it in), and although I cringed at the exchange rate when buying most of it, I still feel like it's easier psychologically to shop for him and the other guys than it is for the girls. Plus, I have a thing for tiny menswear ;)

I currently own 19 BJDs (20 if you count my Iplehouse Pet Doll) although I'm slowly but surely getting that number down. My favourites are the biggest guys, I have to say. I'd love to have a really big one some day, like a Souldoll Tera Zenith, Iplehouse HID or Spiritdoll Herculean.

    7. That's miserable news. I've moved since ordering as well, so I've been concerned about something like this happening as well.

I hope you get either the doll or a refund at the very least!

    8. Thank you. I'm working on it. :) If you haven't gotten your shipping notice yet, I'd suggest you send them an email to confirm that they've got your correct address, and ask them to show you a copy of the EMS waybill with your correct address on it before they let the package leave China. Mine left China before they even managed to confess the error. But, the good news is at least if you're in the United States and this problem does happen, the problem is somewhat easier to fix than it is for me in Canada. If something like this does happen, though, don't let them push you around.

    9. I've had EIDs and I've had a Soom Mecha Angel. I think they may have changed the engineering some in the EIDs since then, but the early-gen boys were terrible posers and I got fed up with it. I was actually pretty happy with my EID girls, but shifted the character grouping they were part of in a completely different direction, aesthetically. The Mecha Angel was just really hard to clothe, and what little clothing Soom puts out for their odd sizes sucks. (I off-loaded my Idealian 51 for similar reasons.)

So, tbh, I've mostly stuck with 70cm and under since then. I think my biggest boy currently is the Volks Claude/Akagidoll 72cm hybrid I have. Shiro will be a little bigger, but shorter.

      He's in Chicago~~! :D

    12. Anymore pic spam, Ye Who have Already Received?

    13. I have mostly been a hard to please person with bjd. They have to stand good and solid, and pose at least on a basic level. After now 11 years in the hobby I have loyalty to three companies, and two independent artists.
      Dollstown
      Fairyland
      Dollshe
      Bishonen House
      Irrealdoll

I don't have any Dollshe, down to two Dollstown, and one Fairyland. I have soon to be five from Bishonen House, and three from Irrealdoll. Other then this guy, no others planned for. If he disappoints me, he will go.

    15. YAY! That's so cool.

Please spam pictures lots, and lots of pictures. So far we have a lot of words in this thread and no pictures. I need more Udell pictures in my life LOL

    16. Did I hear a request for pic spam?

My girlfriend insists I'm going to get banned from DoA for these pics... says they're too sexy. I dunno what she's talking about. XD

      • x 9
    17. Oh, he's definitely too sexy! Thanks for the spamming! Love that wig on him. :XD:

      • x 2
    18. He looks awesome @bewaretheshort1 I think he is sexy, and he knows it. But we don't mind telling him again and again.
I see by the wait-list I am only 210 away from getting my guy on his way, maybe it will be August.

    19. Let's talk about @SapphireStargazer 's order.
This is not a official talk, I just want to explain why we "refuse" to change the order address.
In the last few weeks, we are super busy, all our staffs are working true hard in our studio.
Since there's super busy, mistakes are made, our shipping department has miss out customer service's note about changing address.
So, Sapphire's order was shipped to our shipping agent, and they send this order to EMS China immediately.

But when we received the EMS invoices (2 days after), we noted the address is wrong. Then we contact our shipping agent and let them talk to China EMS, but unfortunately @SapphireStargazer 's order is already in China EMS' hand.
Since the package is already in their way, China EMS and our shipping agent has rejected our request for change address or stop the shipping. @SapphireStargazer's order will ship to her old address. So we contact Sapphire, to ask her for forgiven and provide a way to let her contact Canada post for changing address.

We also wanted to stop China EMS, but we can't. But we understand it is our fault.

Then we contact Sapphire and want to solve the problem.
At first, we tell Sapphire we cannot stop EMS. So we asked her to contact Canada post, and thanks to her, she told us Canada post cannot change the address and she's afraid to pay extra cost to get the doll.
But we promise Sapphire she will not need to pay extra, if no one is picking up the package in her old address, then the package will be back to China, then we will send it again.
But Sapphire request refund, and started a PayPal claim immediately.
Also, she told us she will contact CAFC for legal advice, we are thinking if she is going to sue us? Of course, this is her rights to do so.

We understand Sapphire is getting upset, as we are also a doll collector, we understand it is very sad to know the company is wrong about the address. But in our history, we do not offer refund. So, we just want to keep our promise, we want to send the doll again when the doll is back to China, but seems Sapphire was too upset and do not want to wait anymore.

At last, Crocus agree to send her a new Udell immediately in this week as apologize. And Sapphire has agreed to cancel the PayPal claim after she gets the new EMS invoice with her new correct address.
We also do not want any mistakes happens, but sometimes when it happened, we do our best to fix them.

@SapphireStargazer, Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

PS. Because of personal information protection and avoid second sell problems. Normally we do not accept new customer's address changing request. But there's a exception if the receiver's name is the same.

    20. WOW thank you. He is so sexy :)

      • x 1
    21. I agree with most of this @ikaru , and for the most part it is accurate. The only things I would add here is that, first of all, I never said you "refused" to change the address. In fact, I said you did tell me that you had changed it, and that i thought it was changed. I saw that my old shipping address was on my order status, but I also saw your note with my new address, which is why I thought you had changed it.

Secondly, although waiting for the doll to be returned to Granado would take a lot of time, yes, that is not the only reason I disagreed with that proposed solution and found it unacceptable. There are also a lot of variables involved that make such a solution uncertain. Although Canada Post does need people to show identification for packages that require a signature, the possibility does exist that some letter carriers will just let anyone at the address sign for the package without asking for ID. Of course that means there is a question of whether the package would even get returned to Granado. If, in fact, all things were as you suggest, Canada Post requires a package to be unclaimed for 15 days before it is returned to the sender. I have sent packages to China in the past myself and, after having one package in particular go missing for 4 months before it reached its destination and another package go missing forever, I don't feel particularly confident that the package would make it back to Granado with any certainty, anyway. A refund seemed like the most logical and elegant solution. That way, you would not be missing an extra doll and I would not be missing my money, and we could all move on. If the original doll eventually did make it back to you, so much the better for you, as you could then also re-sell it.

So you can interpret this as me being unreasonable, impatient or "too upset" or however you want. I really don't care how you interpret it, as that is not important. I've had numerous problems with both purchasing and shipping internationally, enough to make me never want to do it again because of the extra effort involved in fixing issues. I'm quite frankly tired of dealing with issues like this, and I contacted PayPal immediately, on the advice of CAFC, so that there would be a third-party record of what was taking place, as I told you in my email.

Anyway, this is all I am going to say on this topic, and I hope this is all you plan to say on it as well. The important thing here is that we have reached an equitable solution and that the issue is in the process of being resolved.

    25. @MrFjmg2003 sorry no video, I've never done one before. Humm, I wonder why? I promise to take pictures!

    26. I only have made two box opening videos, and positioning the camera for a good angle is so frustrating. So pictures are better.

Do you have a name for your guy?

      • x 1
    27. I've named him Mitsuru from a character in the anime Nanbaka. I'm wondering if I should change it? It's the first name I picked and I've been calling him that since May. I'm going to think on it and see if a different name becomes necessary once I get to officially meet him.

      • x 2
    28. Sounds like a great idea for a name. Mine I haven't even thought of a name. Want to see how he fits in first.

    29. That sounds great. I'm going to name mine Quetzalcoatl after a Mayan god. It means feathered Serpent :)

I also made a YouTube video with all the things I have ready for him. Here the account MRFJDOLLS if you guys want to check. When I get my guy I will upload some videos of him there :)

      • x 2
    30. I went and checked the meaning of Mitsuru and I'm happy to say it's a perfect fit! It's a unisex name and a lot of famous Japanese people are named Mitsuru. It means full, fulfill, satisfy -which this guy does for me, :wiggle

I've check the tracking number soooooo many times already! He's in my town out for delivery. How much longer? The town isn't very big!

I really look forward to hearing about what you think of the vinyl version of Granado dolls! (I totally would have ordered one of these guys if I hadn't been paying off a resin Granado already.)

    37. Oh how wonderful. Love his friend. Great photo.

    38. @Therealwalter your rat is so cute! Udell's hands are a good shape for holding things.

      • x 2
    39. @Therealwalter great photo! The rat is so cute! :XD:

OK, my guy is home! My first impression -mine seemed to be more well packed than the ones I've seen previously. The amount of bubble wrap! You could only see a bubble wrap mummy in the box. I reuse bubble wrap, and this is a great haul! Funny thing, the wrap was tied with bjd elastics.

I got a pair of light grey glass eyes and a dark brown wig, score!

Also my Udell's face up seems to have more blush, which I like. He looks so good.

His plastic box was broken, but I don't care. One corner was shattered, but the cardboard box was un damaged.

And his joints are all tight, no parts fell off. I got him to stand on carpet, holding a resin msd bjd!

My eye putty was white, guess they ran out of pink. I tried to use it and it didn't work. The eyes moved and I had to readjust them three times after I put in the head cap and wig! Three times! *mini rant

Finally, mine is number 56 (I like that number)

I took pictures but since I'm on my iPad, I have to go downstairs to the pc and use it to share pics here. I'm hungry and waiting for dinner to cook. Pictures must wait, weak, need food.....:chomp:

      • x 3
    40. Awesome news @kurogane Congrats on number. Guess my chance of getting #60 is not a possibility any longer. Oh well maybe it will be great just to get him. Look forward to photos unless you're the one on Flickr with your guy holding a Bishonen House Vince. In that case he looks awesome.

    41. He looks so cute. His skin look amazing next to the purple fabric and the white of the little mouse :)

Congratulations!!!! I'm so happy for you.

NOOOO! Pictures are more important than food. Starve and give us pictures LOL I'm joking have a great dinner and then share amazing pictures :)

I tried so hard to capture the true caramel color of the vinyl. My camera has failed me! All of the pictures are washed out. He's a nice rich caramel candy color that has a glow to it. It's hard to describe. In certain light, he looks like he has body blushing (shadows). I'm extremely happy!

Now I don't want to dress him! :wiggle

    44. Thank you for the pictures. This day has been so good to me. A lot of pictures of different colors of Udell. Somebody in the DD forum share pictures of his normal skin Udell. He looks so cool :)

Did you have any problems with his joints or is he solid? I remember you mentioning that was your greater fear, and is mine too.

    45. @MrFjmg2003 the joints on mine are really solid. No issues at all. I'm thinking it was the way the earlier Udell's were packaged. Mine was buried in bubble wrap and tied with three pieces of elastic so no arms or legs could move.

      • x 7
    49. @MrFjmg2003 Mine was packaged the same - a whole sheet of bubble wrap that was secured using thin elastic strings rather than tape. I've yet to have any issues of parts falling off - only when I'm really playing with him and trying to get him into several poses did his hand fall off, and even then, because I was being a little careless.

His joints are really solid. He can hold a pose very well. So far, he's only moved when I've actually physically moved him. Well, I mean, he can't hold up a Dollmore Model girl, but smaller dolls shouldn't pose (lol) an issue.

And honestly, I cannot stress enough just HOW good at posing this doll is. There are two separate joints in his torso - one for back and forth motion, and another for side-to-side motion. This allows Udell to twist into more creative poses. And it's not just his frame. His skin parts are all made of the same soft vinyl. For instance, in this picture in post #722 and in this picture in post #802, his lower torso piece is actually somewhat bent (and in the second picture, also twisted). This combination allows for a very fluid, natural pose (and sexy, but I digress).

    50. Congrats! O you guy. He is so beautiful in normal skin :)

I do agree those pictures are very sexy. Thank you for the review. It makes me feel much better :) I can wait to get my guy home :)

    51. How big of a wig does he take? Wondering which ones here I need to pull from sale bin to try on him. Also I know from experience monitors never show true colors. He looks great @kurogane

    52. I got the stats right here

      Wig size 7/8
      Eyes 14mm

Today I'm going to try out everything I got for Mitsuru, plus some SD clothes I still have. I won't be unhappy if nothing fits, he looks great as an underwear model.

I think I will look for a nice Monique wig. Nothing wrong with the wig he came with, I just want to see how he looks with an 'upgrade'.

Also, I need to apologize to my iPad, its operator error for the colors being washed out. I didn't know the flash was on as it never 'flashed' while taking pictures like an older camera. I never knew! Duh!

    53. Thanks for the info. It seems the wig I order for my guy will be to big on his head. I order 8/9 and the eyes to small I order 12mm :p

    54. Thanks for information. So he most likely would not make a good boyfriend for any Dollstown girls that are mature.

    55. Hey small guys can be great boyfriends. Geesh.

    56. Can somebody take a picture of Udell next to an Iplehouse SID man?

It will be greatly appreciated. I'm curious to see the size difference between both of them.

      Thanks in advance :)

      • x 1
    57. I may be wrong, but I do believe the eyes I have in my Udell are 14mm. They fit nicely into his eyewells, and the tack is there to keep them from getting jarred loose rather than secure. He comes with 12mm eyes, which I feel look better (especially with the smaller iris) and I plan to get him eyes that size with a smaller iris in the future. But as far as that goes, it's purely personal preference.

He'll most likely need the 8/9 wig, but if you have a 7/8 wig with a little stretch, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. That's just my experience as a doll collector talking - the wig I have him in was once a 9/10 that was trimmed down. The wig he comes with fits snugly and you shouldn't have any problems with it moving too much.

@animemom He'll be a little short next to a Dollstown 18yr girl, lacking about 3cm. And while her head and eyes will be slightly bigger, I do believe she'll still look good next to Udell. I don't yet have any pictures of them together edited and posted where they can be shared, but Udell looks good next to my girlfriend's Dollmore Model girl. Aesthetically, there are some similarities to Dollstown, insofar as the sizing of eyes and certain features go. Dollstown is more realistically sculpted, so she may actually look a bit better.

    58. Mine won't have a wig or eyes I order the nude version :)

    59. @K-2! Squeee! A Seedring! Oh wow! You have one?! Awesome!

I spent the morning trying on the clothing I had. So tiring!

      My conclusions?

The EID sized anti stain suit I purchased from Sunny's World fit perfectly. It's stretchy.

The Iplehouse EID military uniform fit, but is half a size too big. I was able to get it on over the stain suit, but the sleeves are too long. Pants fit great, just a little loose in the waist. The boots fit the feet, but are loose in the calves.

The surprise of the day was my Dollmore SD 60cm Hakama set. The under shirt was very tight. It has strings to tie it on, so I was barley able to get it closed. The Hakama pants fit great as they are tied on, and the over jacket fit, but the sleeves are too short.

Mitsuru will be in the Dollmore outfit until I more information is shared regarding clothes. I am really thinking he would look good in surfer shorts. Definately going to get new wig, and maybe darker brown eyes. My guy looks so upset.
