Granado's Vindolls part 1

Jan 12, 2017

    1. There doesn't seem to be another thread for them... I believe we can discuss it here? ><
Anyhow I'm really looking forward Granado's vinyl dolls !! :aeyepop:

Granado posted a photo today of their vindoll on facebook! Aaaa he looks handsome**!!
Can't wait to see the video about the posing! ><

    2. Aren't they gonna be off-topic since they're vinyl?
EDIT: I see it's posted in the brigadoon, Silly me. I hope they do minis in vinyl too.

      • x 1
    3. Aaa yes! they'd be cute~ and girls too!! **

      • x 1
    4. That posing ability is awesome.
I know it's not Grando's style, but if they ever made vinyl child dolls, I would totally be all over that. Can't wait to see more of the vindoll's posing ability!

      • x 1
    5. Yes! I think they've only made one resin mini, and it's such a shame. I wish they'd make more, and maybe a more mature body too. And all in vinyl, so we could get this amazing poseability :D

      • x 1
    6. He is so cool looking...
I love the posability of my vinyl and ABS girls and am excited to have more options for vinyl men to look forward too!

    7. I'm pretty excited about this addition to the vinyl world; especially the option of varied skin tones and body types. Plus it's exciting to a vinyl guy! I'm hoping this line is a success but yet he's still able to balance both his resin line and the vindoll. Stay tuned I suppose. :XD:

    8. Super interested in these!
I got my first vinyl doll a couple of months ago and I love how much easier she is to pose than my resin dolls. I've always been tempted by Granado's guys although male dolls aren't really my thing, but this makes it that much more likely that I may pick one up some day.

    9. I'm excited to see these guys. I like how they're as detailed as Granado's resin sculpts. :)

    10. I think a thousand Dollfie Dream and Obitsus just squealed in delight :love

    11. I have dreamed about vinyl dolls that looked as beautiful as resin dolls ever since held my first vinyl doll! I've always though something like this is a great idea! Can't wait for more info!

      • x 1
    12. According to Granado, the Vindoll weighs about 55% less than a resin Evol body.
That's pretty much a dream to hear :)

    13. The price on them is amazing! I may be getting one, but I can't decide on which color! Probably normal since I have floating Granado heads in that color. But he looks so sexy in that bronze. *drools*

      • x 2
    14. On their Facebook page, granado said resin head arent compatible with the vindoll body ><

    15. The VIN dolls are 66.5cm and Embody is 70cm... so that's maybe why the heads won't fit. I wonder why they decided to make the sizes close but no the same???

I would be more tempted if they would match with my other dolls...

      Price looks very nice, though!

I wonder if this is the future of bjds? But the vinyl isn't customizable--at least, not as much as resin...

    16. I'm so excited about It! I love granado's style of sculpting. And vinyl can be colored in so many colors!

    17. Udell is up for sale now, and the price is much better than I was expecting! Now I'm really tempted! :XD:
If I didn't already have another doll on layaway and another one planned in the next couple of months, I think I'd be buying him. He looks very impressive!

Likely, the main problem with head compatibility is that vinyl doll heads are usually attached by being pushed onto a neck post (visible in Granado's photos) which keeps them on the body - a resin head just wouldn't stay put as there's nothing to hold it in place. However I would imagine that there is a way of modding the head/body so a resin head could be used.

    18. Ok, I think this is going to legit be my first doll.

      A) The price is more than right.
      B) The sculpt is great (though I do hope they come out with different heads).
      C) Squishy for posing! (including possibly a squishy peen? lol)
      D) Less chance of breaking it when I inevitably drop the doll like the utter klutz that I am.

EDIT: I bought one. :O My doll cherry has been popped.

    19. Obitsu bodies are the same way, but you can run a short elastic down the neck and loop it around the skeleton down in there. I'm hoping something like that will work on these bodies. The vinyl head is gorgeous too, though!

    20. Does anyone know if the vinyl which appears stretched over the plastic of the knee joint is continuous with the lower calf?

It appears that to slide the vinyl calf piece over the (ABS?) plastic skeleton, Granado cut a slit into the vinyl at the back of the knee. I worry the slit will rip farther, and continue down the back of the calf.

It seems to me that the (ABS?) plastic of the knee joint is wider than the vinyl top of the calf which encases it, which might put stress on the slit at the back of the knee as the sides of the slit are pulled apart, across the inner (ABS?) plastic of the knee joint.

    21. I am going to wait for the vinyl female...do you think that will happen? They make so few females but at that price I certainly would like to have at least one vinyl. The normal vinyl looks a little yellow to me in the photos...
I will be watching to see photos when these doll arrive.

    22. I would love to see a vinyl female, but I don't know if that will happen.

    23. I doubt that would happen! Dollfie Dreams have had the slit cut behind the knee for quite a while and its even tighter and closer together than the vindoll. If there is a problem though, I'm sure Crocus will make updates to the body or offer parts for sale eventually (like many other vinyl doll companies do).

    24. Granado has fantastic customer service so if something happens, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

Also, I've been giggling myself about him being squishy. Squishy manboobs and squishy peen. Maybe it will make it easier for him to wear pants. though probably not, XD

    25. No problem!

I'm really excited for Vindoll! I hope I can be able to purchase one. I'm very happy with Granado trying out vinyl territory. Hopefully if it's a success he will try fiddling more with the vinyl parts, since the pieces seem to obstruct the skeleton from its true posing potential! I know he wanted it to look indistinguishable from the evol resin body though, so I can forgive that. Maybe he's trying to get more interest for resin owners to give it a similar look and jointing to that of bjd, even though it is inefficient in vinyl? It is his first vinyl and this is incredibly good compared to other first attempts by other companies!

    26. It has much better range of motion than an Obitsu, in spite of the muscles. I'm impressed. :)

    27. Hmm, I wouldn't say it's better range than Obitsu, since you can bend their elbows and knees all the way, and Vindoll seems to only bend at the knee at around 45 degree angle (as seen here). I think the knee joint is a little limited and I would like to see them expand on it more since it looks like a very traditional ball jointed style joint.

    28. Is it bad I wish the "family jewels" wasn't censored? :eusa_sile

    29. I actually find it hotter with just the underwear on <3

    30. I've seen a version of the jewels (I've got an Evol), but I think they shouldn't censor them because they're sort of like artwork and not some real human's parts! But I guess in some countries there are laws. And here, people can be strangely upset at seeing a part of the human body sculpted and cast in resin... *sigh* --It does make it difficult when you are buying a doll and you can't see parts of it!

    31. I went ahead and ordered a NS Vindoll body--I have managed to weasel resin heads on Obitsus and I have a Jupiter head that really wants to pose like the Vindoll can, so we will make it work ;) I'm hoping I love it, because I can imagine all the fun colors they could be cast in..glitter...marble :D If he starts doing girls though, I will be seriously in trouble.:D

    32. @fishcake congrats on your preorder! Hope it'll work out><! Please share pics with us when you have it **

    33. I promise pix! Thank you for making this thread, too! <3

    34. Yay thanks!
NP~ Vindolls are so cool, we needed a thread :XD:!

    35. Maybe it was the particular Obitsu body I had. It was always rather stiff at the knees. Agreed, it would be nice to have extra bendy Vindoll knees. :)

@flivine yes, thanks for thinking of putting a thread here! :)

    36. @jo1961 A few months ago the sculptor of Granado made a statement about working on female dolls.

      Edit: (source)
"Let's talk about mature woman. We had try to make more mature woman, however, as you could see, Venus is one of our mature woman doll. But we received many reflection that customers think she is too manly for their taste, although Crocus try hard to avoid "too manly" for his female doll. Maybe Crocus' profession is on the male mature sculpt and cute boys or girl sculpt. We will not say no to the mature woman doll, but before Crocus has figure out how to make a feminine sculpt, he will stop to make mature woman doll for a while. We hope everyone can understand our situation "

    37. That is so sad. I have two Venuses and they are gorgeous.
I would buy a vinyl Sidonia in a heartbeat!

      • x 2
    38. Maybe we need more positive comments regarding the female sculpts? Geesh... SO annoying that some people criticize and mess things up for everyone else...! :doh

    39. I should take more photos of mine--spread the love a little :D

    40. Same here, this inspires me to spam my girls more. Taya is one of my all-time favorite sculpts. I like that his female sculpts are strong-featured.

      • x 2
    41. I've never thought the female sculpts were unfeminine...

    42. Neither have I. Crocus is listening to the wrong fans. :D

    43. I loved Sidonia and I would buy a Sidonia vinyl the minute it was available. I also love my Venus. Here she is on the Granado head stand...but she looks very feminine to me.

    44. Oh Jo, she is gorgeous!!

    45. Thank You...I think so too.:3nodding:

    46. Gosh she looks amazing! I love that jawline!

I'm all for more variety in female headsculpts, especially if it means more mature, stronger-featured ladies!
Reminds me of times when Iplehouse has caught flak for releasing 'manly' females  I'll never understand why some people have to be so vocal about their dislike for certain types of sculpts - just don't buy it if it bothers you that much! Yeesh!

      • x 7
    47. Wait, someone said the girls are not feminine? They must not be looking at Granado. All the female sculpts are feminine!

      • x 2
    48. Gotta tell Granado and Crocus, then, since the negative comments seem to be the ones that got through... (although I hope the sentiments posted here will be passed on to them!).

Maybe the female sculpts don't sell as well, too? There probably is more of a reason than just paying attention to some negative comments... :nowords: ( know I buy the male sculpts, but I just happen to like male dolls...)

    49. They sell just the skeleton too! I kinda wanna build an artdoll around it!

    50. Crocus might just like working on male sculpts. I remember them saying something to that effect, back before they came out with the first girl.

      • x 1
    51. Oh, yes... that could be part of the reason for fewer female sculpts. I do have to say that I love his male sculpts, so I'm not at all complaining! But I do feel for those who want some females.

    52. I'll be over here in the corner of waiting for some more facial sculpts, as I've been wanting a really buff doll for Archie from Pokemon. He needs a way less detailed face, tho'. Less lips.

    53. 'Less details' is not in Crocus vocabulary. He puts lots of details into them, so you probably won't find what you are looking for in the heads he makes. You may want to think about doing a hybrid instead.

    54. I've been watching Granado on Instagram and Tumblr for a while now, and was really intrigued by the concept of a vinyl boy. I... kinda caved yesterday when I saw just which mold they were going to be using. I've wanted a Granado boy for a long while, and I honestly love working with vinyl. I couldn't pass this up!

    55. Ooh, congrats on the order, @bewaretheshort1 ! I love that sculpt--and the idea of less expensive and more flexible and lighter sounds fantastic. I can't wait to see owner pics and comments about these guys! (I'm already waiting for a granado Michael... otherwise I'd have ordered, I think!)

    56. I feel so dense not realizing that Udel was Uranus XD The face up threw me off.

    57. @april Thank you! I had an older style Obistu that I loved working with. She was much lighter and at the time, a little more flexible than other dolls out there. It's been years and years, so I can only imagine how things have changed since then. Vinyl is so much easier for me to blush and paint, in my experience. It takes pigment so well, so it means I have to do less layers. I'm super excited to play with a vinyl boy!

@LuckyXIII Don't feel too bad, I didn't know until I saw the blurb for his sales page. I do love the Uranus mold, but I'm hoping to see more of their other dolls make the transition to vinyl as well. I will give them all the money for that.

    58. @bewaretheshort1 --That's where I'm at right now. XD I love Uranus, but I love some of the other sculpts more, and so I'm in a huge dilemma over waiting or not. Because what if I get Udell, and then the next one they release is vinyl Enoch??

Of course, I could just end up with a slew of gorgeous vinyl men...that's always an alternative too...

      • x 2
    59. I'd love to have Enoch and Raguel.
I like the proportions of the vindoll's body better than those of the resin's. I think it is to do with the joints. I don't like the resin's joints at all, and the fact that I can see the screws holding the Vindoll's body together doesn't seem to bother me. To me the Vindoll looks slimmer than the resin doll as well. All in all, I think it is a very good price. If he could get dealers to sell his dolls, that would be even better. There would be a better chance of them being in stock and it would cut down the waiting times.
