~ Granado ~ General Discussion part 4

Jul 31, 2012

    1. They look so beautiful! :aheartbea Yay I also love my Boyd for over one and half year. Their sculpt are really amazing :aheartbea

and here is a mini doll picture for anyone who didn't see before lol

    2. Thank you for the picture. Is that really a mini? look at his muscle!
I think a MSD size doll is not very popular to me but I really love this body so far.

    3. I'm so excited- any day now, my body for Tiarnach should be coming in. He's my secondary antagonist in my story and I am going nuts trying to complete him. He's been in the works for three years now, but I needed a good body and all the ones good enough for him to go around shirtless all the time were 600+... Not much of an option when I have other doll plans as well. Then Granado came out with their Nuevo body...

He's currently blank, but here's a mockup in messy PS of how he'll look.

    4. Rosslyn, a Chrom on a Nuevo body? :drool Nice combo. And the nuevo body certainly is worthy of wandering around shirtless, that's for sure. :3 I like your mock-up. I'll be looking forward to seeing this guy brought to life as well. Is he going to have a blushed body, like your Aiden does? A blushed nuevo body may well induce fainting spells...

Hee! Thanks! And you're right about their amazing sculpts - they just keep getting better and better.

I rather like minis that boast some muscle tone. In this case, I enjoy the fact that the muscle isn't overstated. It could easily pass as a more youthful version of the nuevo body.
I've never owned a mini before... I wonder if Granado's will be my first? Looks like it'll still be a while before it's ready to be released, but it'll be interesting to see!

    5. does anyone have any pictures of Davon with the romeo faceup? i'd love to see owner pics of him. *impatiently waiting*

    6. Rosslyn-- cool mock-up, but then I just love elves, so I hope you get him done soon! :)

      ----

I've just made the plunge and put a Granado Charles with nuevo body on layaway... I was trying VERY HARD to plug my ears and La-La-La! and try not to listen to all the Granado talk over the past year. I am trying to cut down on my growing doll hoard... unsuccessfully!

I'm not sure what plans I have for my Charles, but I do love historical costumes, so I might just go with the whole Charles II thing he has going (one reason I got him in pink and not that lovely tan).

I certainly hope to see many Charles arrivals while I wait, so I don't go crazy! I can't wait to see what others do with him.

And what they do with the other lovely Granado sculpts, too! :)

    7. Ha! If La-La-La-ing ever worked, my wallet would be much happier with its existence than it currently is! But then, my cabinet wouldn't look nearly so nice as it does now either, filled to the brim with yummy resin boys as it is. Dilemma. XD

I'm leaning towards turning my Charles into a warrior of some kind (that nuevo body is just begging for it) - the gorgeous bone structure of his face lends him a good amount of strength, so I think he'll fit the part. I'm not to sure how I'm going to pull his image off though, so I'm still browsing my options. I'd like for him to still be able to 'fit' into my current Granado crew if possible, so I can't go for anything too historical-looking. I guess I'll see what comes up... My plans have a tendency to change half-way through a wait period, anyways!

And I've seen the lovely things you've done with the others of your crew april, so I'll be looking forward to seeing how your Charles turns out! He'd look so amazing in the opulent formal-wear of the 1600s. <3

AnchixDPx, the only Davon I've seen with a company face-up has been the Lucifer-version (which was gorgeous). I am curious though, so if you manage to find one, then be sure to point him out!

    8. thanks Kirika! I'll be on the lookout. I'm excited to see Romeo's version :)

    9. Yep, he's getting full-body blushed. :) His outfit is this leather skirt thing and then a cloak with a big shaggy shoulder cape around the top of it, but no shirt. He also gets the bone spear from the IH Taregan fullset.
I was just now dyeing the mohair to make the wefts for his wig. Wish they'd hurry up and dry so I can see if they stay true to color or need another dunking.
Thanks! Tiarnach has got himself some fun furry ears.

Oooh do eet, do eet. We always need more historical costume around this Den.

I think, in order to match with your other boys, he should get the Mad-Max post-apocalyptic Warrior treatment. Then you can still include the goth/punk touches and bold faceup elements the other boys have... but also give him some gnarly armor and big guns or a brutal sword.

    10. Rosslyn, I can't wait to see your Soom/Granado hybrid! Your dolls are all amazing. Of course I'm just a leeettle bit biased by their Celtic flavour :P.

april! I want to see Charles II! I may be Celt- and Victorian-obsessed, but I worked on a Charles II project for a while and have carried him in my heart since. Now I'm counting on you do out-River Soom ;)...

-Ah my Flo. She has been trying to convince her husband that she needs a new dress, but the trouble is, she looks so good without one.

Hurrrrrr that mention of "15 Sidonias left" makes me debate with myself whether or not I should get a second Sidonia head... It's not that I need a twin for Florie, but rather that I'm paranoid about any misfortune befalling my darling Flo and being unable to re-create her because she's a limited :(. I'm ... kinda ... worry-warty that way.

      Whaaaaaat toooooo dooooooo?

    11. I cannot remember if I ever share it, but this is Jade in the other wig I was thinking of using for her.

    12. Wooo so many new face show up here. Welcome april! :D
I wish to see more Charles too! Hope they can ship him to the owners soon.

LuckyXIII, this wig looks cool! :)

    13. I'm trying to decide on skin colours for my Charles and I don't yet understand the difference between pink and normal skin. Can anyone help me out please?

    14. I don't have any Granado dolls yet, but if I'm not wrong, normal skin is yellowish type (like old DollClans NS) and pink skin is with pink touch, probably good match to Iplehouse normal skin, so not too pink. I don't know if that is any help for you, but I had the same problems choosing skin for my Charles and I decided to go with pink one ;)

    15. Akudem, The pink skin is very pale pink. It's pinker than iplehouse normal which has a peach tone to it. The normal skin is a yellow based skintone that is slightly darker and slightly more yellow than volks normal. From my own experience, Dikadoll normal yellow is a decent match to Granado Normal. The two are quite different next to each other. In the end if you want a darker skintone to your doll I would go with Normal. The color is yellow but with a faceup the color looks great. If you want a very pale character, I would go with pink. From Granado the Pink Skin and their white skin isn't all that different. The only difference is that their white is ivory and their pink is pink.

    16. Thank you hamleta and Invie! Shame there isn't a dark pink colour around anymore!
Hmmm, I still can't decide now! Maybe normal is the skin to go for then :)

    17. I agree! THeir original dark pink color was the same as Fairyland normal. I guess the problem was that most companies produce paler resins. I know the aesthetic in East Asia is for pale skin but I would seriously prefer a more realistic resin color selection. I like Granados suntan but I would like something in between as well.

    18. That's my exact sentiment! I really like the the suntan skin but I'd love something between pink and suntan, that's definitely something I hope doll companies start to experiment more in rather than just the usual Normal skin/white skin/tan skin choices!

Ah well, normal skin will work for my Charles I reckon :D

    19. Skirts, capes and spears... :love Now that is an ensemble that will do the nuevo body justice! I'm already getting shivers just imagining how kick-arse he's gonna look.

That... That is so perfect, it brings a tear to my eye. I'll take my search in that direction. Thanks, Rosslyn! I was at such a loss as to where to go with this vague idea of mine.

Heh. Given how Florie looked in her Christmas lingerie, I can understand her husband's dilemma! XD
I'm debating whether to get a second Davon or not before he disappears, too. In my case though, Ryu would have himself a twin. A dark, gothy twin (since he's so big-brother-style wholesome). I may just wind up adding a Davon head to whatever Granado order I make next...

Wow, that gives her a completely different look, doesn't it. She looks almost imperious with that wig! I like them both. You still going for the silver braids though?

    20. I would have liked a skin tone between normal and tan, too. But I guess it is too much trouble to have so many skin tones...? Picking skin tones IS very difficult with so many with subtle differences. AND because it is so hard to tell what is what unless you can really compare it in person.

      ...

Heh... I dread to think of how I will get a good historical costume for my Charles! But I'm sure I will enjoy getting it together. I have some time to do it, since my layaway is until April! *_*

I haven't tried getting any costumes in that period before. I usually would tend to go more Renaissance or more 18thC rather than for the Restoration... (always seems to be a sort of in-between look, fashion-wise). But there are so many lovely portraits of Charles II, it should be fun to research. Not sure if how accurate I'll try and be, though.

    21. Warning, SLIGHTLY NSFW PIC COMING FURTHER DOWN THIS POST. It's not raunchy or anything but people might jump to conclusions about what you're browsing...

Biased? Who, us? Nay! Never! :) Thanks very much. Us Old-Medieval nerds gotta stick together. Who else will we whine with over the difficulty of finding miniature tablet weaving? Or 'bog' shoes? Or good leather-work?

Hah, he looks to be saying, "But I like you just like this!"

She does look good in it, but the silver braids were so much more striking and gave her such a bold intense presence, IMO.

Thanks! I've finally got enough green mohair dyed to make wefts for his wig, but I am in the process of packing to move, so things like crafts get pushed aside for whenever I have time. I just hope his belt fits, or I'll have to clip the buckles off and re-sew him a new one. Won't know if it fits just right until he gets here. Ah well. That chest of his should show off the agate, copper and aventurine stone necklace I made him very nicely.

Aw, you're welcome. Have fun with it, and be sure to show us!

And just for funsies, a bit of what Aiden's been up to. Mostly getting himself into trouble again.

    22. Ah, the benefits of a long layaway... :sweat As much as I adore historical costuming, I'll be the first to admit that I can't really tell one period from another. I do like watching people (who can tell the difference!) get all the details right when they pull an outfit together though! Good luck with your research. I'll enjoy seeing the final product later this year. ^.^

Responsibility pushing creativity to the side... Siiiigh~ XD
You're even making this dude's wig. You really do put all the details together yourself, don't you? *hopeful, sparkly eyes* Do we get updates this time, too? Like we did with Aiden's gear? I'd love to see this necklace you've made him! And speaking of Aiden... He looks like he's having himself a little too much fun with his bold Fae lady-friend there. :XD: It would seem that she appreciates his hawt bod as well! Heheh.

Well, the shirts I ordered for my Xavier came in the other day, and because it's too bloody hot to do anything actually productive down here today, I decided to have a little fun with my Granado boys, instead... My Xavier is going to be the kind of guy who wanders around in suits - my current boys certainly are not! So they've pulled on the suit shirts to varying effects --->

Ryu's got himself a thick neck, so the first thing he did was loosen his tie and undo his top button... Mayu thought that only doing up one button was more than enough... And while Kaien actually managed to get his done up right, he now looks like a cosplayer who is set to gnaw on the neck of anybody who gets too close. Ah~ Too much fun. XD

As a side note - the 68cm body wears a suit really well. Upon learning this, I have decided that I'll be buying my Xavier a 68cm body in the future and give his current nuevo body to whichever new Granado head comes along. The slimmer chest makes a huge difference in how the suit sits.

    23. Sidonia is quite unique and it might be impossible to use different sculpt to replace her, so if you're worry about Florie, then getting second head is not a bad idea ;) I don't feel like having girls in my collection, but there's one guy (well, I mean, maybe will be one day) and he will need lady to spend time with, and the only head that can work for her is Sidonia. So even if i don't really need her now, I think i will get her, just in case. To keep her in box and wait for better times

Trouble or not, Aiden for sure likes what he's doing! Looking at your dolls makes me wanna play Dragon Age, lol. Looking forward to see your Tiarnach here! :)

Wow, Kaien looks so good. If i had to choose just one of them, I would go for a Kaien! But maybe thats because I love purple colour so much :sweat

    24. The picture is so great. :chocoheart They like a super star team :chocoheart
I'm looking forward for my Xavier head too. Still waiting for their shipping notice. I think Xavier may fit to 64cm body too. Let me try to put him on 64cm body after he is arrived.

Also, Thank you for the clothing size and suggestions. I agree chest makes a huge difference!

    25. Kirika,
Where did you got those shirts? I love the colors! I have not seen anything like that and your guys look so handsome in them. OH..did not read thru all the posts so hope you have not already answered this..:doh

    26. Jo1961, all three shirts came from Tata's Paradise - the sd17 section. Aren't those colours just fabulous? I think that they had a couple of other colours, as well... Each colour is listed separately and you have to click back a few pages (they're on the fourth or fifth page, I think?), but they're there. The ties are also from Tata's (they have about five colours under one listing).

I was actually surprised by how Kaien managed to pull off that shirt and tie... Of all my boys, I figured he'd be the one to look the most ridiculous in the more formal wear, courtesy of all that heavy make-up he's parading around in. Instead he looks almost as at home in the shirt and tie as he does in leather corsets and mini-shorts! Just goes to show what a clothes horse he is. ^^ That, and the fact that he's determined to make anything he wears look good!

Thanks! :D They're always out to leave an impression when they're together. X3
I can't wait for the Xaviers to finally start shipping... Even if it's not my own Xavier, I want someone to get a shipping notice and start spamming pictures of the boy! *impatient impatient* I'm so eager to see him outside of the company's promotional pictures - especially in his default face-up. When you get your boy, can you post a picture of him on that 64cm body? I'd love to see how he pulls it off, before buying my boy his new body.

:XD: Cute. I was noticing his hands though - the fingers are remarkably curled, when compared to many other dolls' default 'resting' hands. I wonder if they're staying like that, or will be tweaked?

    27. RE: Kirika Jo1961, all three shirts came from Tata's Paradise
Did you give me the Tata BJD site before? A few weeks ago I ordered shoes from them and a few clothes but I swear , I never noticed the shirts. They have so much on that site and at very good prices. Today, I did go back and order a couple of shirts and a few sale items too. Thank You - again, I think. Jo
OH..how long do they take to ship?

I would like some nice winter sweaters for my guys and girls. I found a lovely v-neck at Freedom Teller - and it nicely fits Granado 65 muscular body. Think I posted this before but here is my Limhwa head on the Granado body with the FT sweater.

    28. Oh, I could teach you to differentiate. I'm one of the horrible nerds who actually picks out nationalities and centuries within fashion eras, specifically all things Medieval. From now on, I shall mention which bits of the mix of costumes I use come from where and when, just for you! ;)

I get these ideas in my head, and then I can't for the life of me find anything like the pieces I want on the market, so I have to make everything. Le sigh indeed. It keeps me busy. I have more fun with this hobby when I'm pushing myself to innovate at old skills and learn new ones, like how to make wigs, and this time around how to dye mohair without shriveling the leather it's on, then how to sew wefts on my machine, which I have never tried. I do have some pics of the outfit I made for Tiarnach but it all looks a bit anticlimactic on the SuperGem body he was borrowing. Still, I can post some of those.
Yeah, Siofra chose to seduce him because he's handsome. My reasoning behind him having next to no body fat is that it's partly because he's an archer, and partly because he just spent a winter in a castle under siege, on lone hunting trips every day in the snow during most of that. You burn a lot of calories that way.

Woohoo, look who cleans up so nicely! You'd never guess it, but they do look very sharp in semi-formal!

Wise! Doll planning is a long term sort of thing.

      Thanks!
Oh he's definitely enjoying himself, even if he's not sure it's a very smart idea.
(I like Dragon Age! I'm only halfway through my first play of Origins, but it's been fun. It's like D&D all by yourself. I have a massive fangirl crush on Alistair.)

Thanks for the update! What cute little buns he has!

Yup, he makes this look work for him. Even the colors complement well.

That is weird. Maybe there will be more than one set of hands, since jointed hands are tricky at even SD size let alone MSD size.

That makes for a good hybrid with the proportions, and very nice sweater! He looks ready for a cruise 'round the bay with his lady, on a white yacht.

    29. I came to put my head in here and ask a really stupid question--is Boyd considered a "standard", something I can order any time from Granado, or does he have random "order periods" like their other dolls?
I'd like to get just his head in normal yellow, but wandering around the site I couldn't figure out if I could order his head now-- or if I have to wait for it to be announced on the site as "available"?
If anyone has a link to a relevant page on the site you would be officially awesome :D

    30. fishcake - Boyd was limited doll, not anymore for sale unfortunately. You can buy only dolls/heads marked as: New! , Hot , Basic or Recommend.

Oh Alistair is charming, I love him ^^ Good luck and have fun!

kirika - Just a quick question. Few days ago I was checking Tata's Paradise (and considering the same shirt but black :sweat) and found some boots, but I'm not sure about size. They are "9.4cmX4cm inside | can fit for 1/3size/SD17 size/DZ70/Hound" so that should be okay for Granado boy? Shoes confused me all the time and I'm scared to order them :/

    31. Boyd was their first release when they opened up shop. I've not seen him for sale since. Speaking of, here's my 64cm body Boyd with my icky face-up. Dude seriously needs some work, especially where I goofed around the lips. I also want to make his eyebrows bigger and more masculine next time. I'm horrible at eyebrows.

    32.
    33. I have seen the Boyd head on the marketplace now and then. I actually sold mine several months ago...wish I had known Fish. I am sure he will turn up again.

Trethowan, Your boy looks very good. I do wish I had the talent to do a face-up.

Shoes sizes & body sizes. I think Granado measurements are fairly accurate to doll size. Hope this helps some..Jo

I intended to say that the male feet fit most SD size shoes.

    34. hehehehe.... I had lots of shoes I used to stuff tissue paper into as well. :-p For me, not the dolls. LOLOL

Thanks guys (re: comments about faceup above). I think he was one of the older face-ups I'd attempted. My poor Boyd sat for over a year without a name or purpose. Until Gabe the motorcycle mechanic popped out at me he was this poor little doll sitting all alone with the TBA dolls, some headless, some without face-ups, some without clothes. HA! He finally has a name, clothes, and a few accessories!! <3 Now all he needs is a revamped face-up. I'll definitely get the brows on the ridge a little better this time. :-)

    35. I probably did send you there before - I love that site, and spam it around the place all the time. :sweat Their prices are so terrific, it makes it a little too easy to spend a little too much when you go to buy things from them! Not to mention the fact that they're constantly updating with new stuff~ <3

I really like that FT sweater on your boy... I was thinking of ordering some FT clothes in the near future for my Xavier, so it's good to know that they'll fit well.

Bahaha! Done! Ironically, I've already learned quite a bit about medieval costuming from your random remarks about Aiden's outfit as you were making it. XD

Who needs dieting when you risk your life in battle every day, huh?

Thumbs up to your proactive nature though. If I can't find what I'm looking for, I alter my plans (or dismiss them altogether =.=") in favour of something easier to find/accomplish. My brain can't even wrap itself around the thought of building an entire cosplay from scratch - I wouldn't even know where to begin! And even though the SG body likely wont come close to doing it justice, I'd love to get a sneak peek of Tiarnach's outfit if you get the time!

Yeah, who'da thunkit? They look like they're in cosplay with that on, but then... they do when they're dressed 'normally', too.

Yep, they'll be more than fine - you'll even have some room to spare. ^^ I think that most SD-sized shoes from Tatas are about that size, and I've bought several pairs for all of my Granado boys with no problems. Just remember that if they're boots, then they'll need to have lacings up the front, or something similar, in order to adjust the fit for the muscular calves these guy have.

More Boyd! :D The Boyd sculpt has really grown on me this past while... I like seeing him around. I really like the hair/eye combo you have going for your boy. Green and silver always look so striking together!

    36. Aw, thank you hamleta! I'll just hope Granado puts him up again! In the meantime I would love some Boyd spam too--Trethowan, yours is so cute!

    37. 9.4cm shoes are BIG. Those might even fit my Iple SID and those boys have big feet. Won't fit and iple EID, though. They have monster-feet! :D

kirika-- love your boys in those shirts!

Historical clothes-- I usually just look at portraits of historical figures. That's going to be the most accurate. Easy for someone like King Charles II, since he had tons of portraits painted of him. For 18thC styles, lots of people look at portraits of Marie Antoinette, since she also had tons of pictures painted of her and she had the most fabulous wardrobe. It's harder for more everyday historical costumes, but there are portraits and paintings from the different periods for those, too, unless you're going back to a period that didn't leave many images and records.

I'll have to go through the Charles II portraits and maybe some other portraits from the period and pick out a look... and then find the right person to commission. Won't be easy... But it'll be fun! :D

    38. Well if you get ideas, tell us about them or just PM me, and I could walk you through some stuff. "It's wut I do". Kinda literally- I'm trying to pursue a career in props and set dressing for film. Spent two summers so far working on film sets. It's brutal hard work but it's fun, and the results are downright Epic. Funny thing though, is that I make props and build sets... and then to unwind I go home and make props and build sets. :sweat

Wish Granted: The pics are terribly dark, but here's a sneak peek. Ignore that faceup, he's had it wiped. The gold stripe will be coming back but the eyes were too dark.

As to Shoes- Granado boys do have absurdly small feet. I have Kevya, a 60 cm boy, who shares shoe size with my 65cm-ish Iplehouse SID body, and they both look so funny sitting on my bookshelf, feet up, next to Aiden on his Granado body with its teeny wee footsies. Aiden is currently wearing a pair of leather boots I originally made to fit a Soom SuperGem, so I can second the opinion of those being good shoes for Granado boys.

(Bold type added to help anyone skimming thread for info. Someone should add this stuff to the Wiki page, if we have one.)

    39. And I loved putting them in those shirts - there was lots of snickering to be had. :XD: It was fun to have them dressed so completely differently for a change!

As for the shoes - they are big, but I find that they're great for Granado feet. As Rosslyn said, these boys have ridiculously small feet... It does mean that they can wear uber small shoes, but I find that bigger shoes not only look more proportionate for their large, muscular bodies, but also help to stabilise them when they're in off-balance poses. Wait until you get your Charles and stand him beside your Iple boys - heck, stand him beside one of your Luts boys! - it'll make you giggle to compare them. X3

Huh~ Sounds like a time consuming process... but lots of fun at the same time! I do believe that I'm going to have to be doing something similar for my warrior-Charles. ^^ Do you already have an idea about the general image you're looking for, or are you open for any ideas at the moment as you browse your pictures?

Really truly? If that's the case, then I may just bug you for some help with my upcoming Charles' image. ^.^ I get the feeling that I'll have to really put some work into him - but he'll be more than worth it in the end... I know it! :aheartbea

It's great that you get to work in a job that you love so much - and that you can then bring those very skills and talent to your hobby and improve on them even more! It may be hard, but it must be rather fulfilling as well? Watching you progress through Aiden's outfit was amazing! (At the same time though, I can't help but feel that being creative all the time must get quite draining... :sweat )

:love Wow! Would you look at that... Oh yeah, having a nuevo body striding around in that outfit is certainly going to fuel some fantasies! ;) Are you going to wait until his body comes in to give him a new face-up? I was told that the Soom and Granado pink tones were off a little bit?

    40. I know I've been quiet lately but I have been browsing through the thread. I am loving all of the pictures being posted. So many handsome guys and pretty girls! I am not sure when I will be taking new pictures of my group aside from some requested, since I have a new non-doll related item that has been keeping me distracted.

    41. Hi there - have a question about Granado and layaway! I was caught by surprise with Charles - I've liked their sculpts but none have really sent me into credit-card frenzy since the VO1, whom I missed! So I had to put him on layaway and this is my question. The holiday event gave free face-up to those who purchased Charles within the period. Does this go for layaway also? Just curious because I had planned to get him without face up anyway, and so did specify "no face up" like you were supposed to do for the event. I hope I am making sense here. In other words, I am curious as to whether a layaway is considered a purchase just like paying in full would be - in order to get the face up? Please help?

Can hardly wait to see everyone's Charles, since I am not going to get my guy for months! TY in advance for helping.

    42. Sure, why not? :chocoheart I love his hands too. I wish one of them is staying like that. (another one is difference gesture should be the best!)

Their event is end on Jan 5. You may not have free face up when you placing orders now.
But ikaru (Granado's rep.) said layaway payment is also acceptable in the event. Hope it may help. :chocoheart

    43. Thank you Risou! Wow, I placed my order on December 19, so that means my guy gets a face up even though I requested no face-up, because their instructions said to do that in order to get a free one. Good! He is so gorgeous and now I won't have to worry about having him painted! Am going to try to pay him off early. Charles is such a fantastic sculpt! Irresistble! Thank you again, you made my day!!!

    44. Sigune, Florie looks lovely in her "wrap", but cold!

LuckyXIII, Jade looks quite different in that wig, but just as good. Are you going to use both?

kirika, the boys look awesome in their shirts. Thanks for the tip about Tata's.

I'm looking forward to progress reports from all of you with great cosplay ideas!

    45. Alewife, I was going to say that the picture was taken this summer and that you shouldn't worry - but then it struck me that at this moment Florie is still sitting around in her Christmas Underwear :p. With, like, no top. Now I feel bad. In my defense, we're not having much of a winter so far. It's more like a very wet autumn. I solemnly promise to put some clothes on her when it gets colder ;).

I was thinking that if I order a second Sidonia head, I might just order the face-up as well. It looks really lovely in LyanneNZ's photos and it would give me a kind of alternative, modern and made-up version of Flo. Should be fun!

Rosslyn, I do envy you your crafting skills. I too try to make as much as I can, but things like wigs and weapons are quite beyond me. I manage a simple shoe and a belt and that's about it... But it's true that it's very gratifying - though I have to say, the instant gratification of putting on clothes made by someone else has its charms too :P. I guess what I enjoy most when making medieval clothes is that they come to life off the page/screen. I also need to think about how to construct clothes that I normally just throw on the page in my drawings without thinking whether what I draw is physically possible (...the way I draw cloak fastenings comes to mind *grins*).

For my medieval style, I do my research, but I don't always stick to it - the imagination has its rights ;)... Of course I'm also saying that because sometimes my skills simply aren't up to scratch, haha.

Florie really needs a new dress of some lighter white fabric. This linen is quite stiff. I seem to be awfully bad at judging which cloth is going to fall nicely on a doll body. Then again, since Florie is a poor girl, I can't really expect her to wear the finest linen, can I. Thus I make excuses for myself ;).

    46. I did not order the faceup (so I won't get charged for it, which was what we were instructed to do), but I made a comment with my order that I hoped for the free faceup for the Event, just to make sure Granado was not confused! :D

If you did not order the faceup, and didn't tell them in a comment that you definitely did NOT want a faceup, then I think you should be OK and will get a faceup for the Event... If you are worried, you can always ask them, to make sure, I suppose!

    47. Aw gee, thanks for such kind words! I blush!
One of the best things about having read your webcomic work is watching you make the drawings into the dolls! All the costume ideas and elements you include when you have created the characters and their style.. It makes me squee. Don't worry about skills- I'm still learning myself, and nobody starts out an expert. Your work looks great to me!

For a lighter fabric with more drape to make shifts and under tunics, try "floursack" towel cotton. I buy the dishcloths at the store made of a light woven kinda cotton and then that becomes much of my doll "linen". Some outfits even just have an edging of the stuff so it looks like there's a whole shift under the dress when there isn't, since cutting down on layers helps the draping too.

Got some progress with Aiden's ensemble and kit, so I thought I'd share: He has his light cloak now.

    48. Hi gang. I've been quiet for a few months. It's nice to be back. I look forward to seeing all of the great dolls that will be posted for 2013. I hope this year will be creative for me. I just treated myself to a Viking embroidery machine. I hope to work on some really nice new outfits for my resin friends. I just have to remember to devote the time and stick with it.

    49. I may switch back and forth depending on the look she has going. I too really like the silver one on her.

That is such a great suggestion, that fixed a dolly dilemma I was struggling with on a layered outfit...my guy was going to look like the Sta-Puft Man unless I could eliminate some bulk. Thank you!
Aiden looks great, he's got such nice textures and colors going!

    51. Wow, those medieval styled clothes are amazing! Thanks also for the sewing tips, I'd not have thought to try "false edges" to reduce the bulk.

I'll take some Boyd pics today and spam you guys! :-)

    52. Kirika, Sigune, Rosslyn, your dolls are amazing.

    53. hi everyone, i really love the new sculpt called charles but i have never bought from granado before,
please can anyone help me with a few questions?
how long do you wait for the order? im only looking to buy the head not a full doll, as i have a male body id love him to go on. also what colour would be the best to match normal yellow skin of doll family? which is the same as volks normal yellow.
      thank you for any help

    54. Granado wait times are pretty short to standard (1.5 - 2 months) but things have slowed down a bit. I'm assuming from the weather. As for the color matching, I can't help you there but maybe you can check out the color matching thread?

    55. Yeah, Tatas is a great place to stop by when you have a little extra cash to spend. <3 And thank you! They've already changed into something else which 'fits' them a little better, but it was fun having them look so different for a few days.

 I like! You've really pulled this guy together... Though it's almost a shame to have so many layers over that wonderful Granado body of his. ;)

Welcome back! I hope you'll post some of your Granado crew in these new outfits you're thinking of making (damn, everyone is so creative in this thread!). It'd be nice to see what you come up with.

You'd want to go for the 'normal' option with Granado resin - it's yellow-based and an almost perfect match with Volks resin. Hope you're able to get your Charles - he's a really captivating sculpt!

    56. LuckyXIII and kirika thank you for all your help and for answering my questions

    57. ^u^ Hey everyone, this thread is now over the 1000-post limit, so I'm going to lock it up. Please start the part 5 discussion thread with at least the link to Granado :D [The first post of this thread is a wonderful example].

      Happy posting!
