Welcome new ppl!

I actually think the Charles is in Sunshine in the photos since the lighting can lighten the color quite a bit. Granado pink is so pale that it's closer to white than normal skin. Their old pink skin used to be close to Fairyland normal but they only produced that with the first batch of Boyds.

Augh....so yes I add another to my list...it just keeps getting longer.

 

Wow, she does look really light in that picture! So maybe he is in suntan after all. Still like him and I was going to get suntan either way so it doesn't make a difference for me.

 

She sort of reminds me of the actress who played River Tam in Firefly. Beautiful doll.

Granado's suntan is such a beautiful colour - I love the way it photographs!

I ordered my Charles just moments ago in that gorgeous suntan. Looks like he'll be the last in my long list of Granado-sculpt purchases for the year. He and V-05 make a wonderful end to my year of dolly spending. And now February can't come around fast enough. ^.^

Heh. Yeah, Charles' release has caused the thread to explode into life a bit here. Just goes to show how awesome he is. XD

 

I wonder what changes would be made for Chalres' faceup... i really like it as it is, and if they'd be changing the teeth or the moles I don't think I'd wind up getting him. That faceup is perfect for the character I had in mind *sighhhh*

 

Charles is handsome, but thankfully he doesn’t appeal to me as much as the others. My wallet stays safe for another day ...but I’m still planning on taking it out it for Davon/Xavier/V-05

 

I think the teeth are one of the things that would be removed. If you look at the other pictures where he's wet, you can't see the teeth. They are just painted in so you could always add them after if that is what you like. No idea about the moles. Those are the two things I'd want removed from the face up myself though!

I am still undecided if I will get him with or without face up. I have just enough to do a layaway and get the V-05 free. I think I'll be getting Charles in the sunshine still as planned, but snagging a Guilliem head instead of Xavier since he is not basic and I really like that head. I don't want to miss out on it like I did with Titus!

 

That kind of stinks. I suppose I could always get him blank and send his head out though ^.^

I find a update on their facebook. Its color so sweet! Will it be a one-off accessory?

I also want to know if the teeth of Charles's face up be removed. Please let us know if you got answer.

 

I'm not a huge fan of teeth on a sculpts, so their removal wouldn't have bothered me... But I requested that they leave my Charles blank, anyways. The free face-up would have been lovely, but I want him to look a little different from what they have going there. ^^

Jade, my Void, is here! She is so severely floppy that I can't get her to stand at all and she is like a wet noodle. Barely any clothes I have fit her, but I threw something together and she's rocking that. I was not sure about her eyes or wig, but they are both growing on me. I'll see if I still like them after I do her face up. Since she is so floppy and uncooperative right now (more than she normally would be, lol) no box opening pics. I'll do a mini shoot once I get her together properly. I did take some pictures and will post once I get them edited.

Edit; Here is how she looks right now. I did not think this wig would work for her, but as soon as I put it on her attitude finally showed itself. The shirt is part of a Luts senior delf set, the waist cincher is part of an Iplehouse set, and I don't remember where the rest came from. The eyes are Soom that came with my Nor.
The bracelets (human stretch rings) don't really match but she likes her bling and doesn't care if it matches or not.

Yes, definitely. I'll be doing that when I get ready to give her a face up and blushing. Probably won't get to it until the weekend though.

 

Kya! Jade's finally here and ready to kick arse, huh? She looks fantastic already, LuckyXIII. That outfit you managed to find for her really works - and I love those thigh-highs. Never cross a chick in a mini skirt and thigh-highs. XD

May I ask where you found that wig she's wearing? I am on an eternal search for a braided wig (the only ones I've ever found were either sold out or didn't ship to Aust =_= ). Weren't you thinking about having her in short hair at one point? I like the long braided dreads though... It adds to her femininity without making her look girly.

She looks great in the wig. My Nuevo body (Morrigan's) was very loose too when I first got her. I ended up restringing her with thicker string and sueding her with velvet before i brought her to a meet this last weekend.Her first meet..but unfortunately I only hung out for about an hour because I had to go to work.

The Nuevo body definitely needs help to pose well which is why I prefer the original 62cm body for posing. After taking apart Morrigan to restring her I can see that the reason why her thigh joints dont work is that the cup parts that are supposed to fit against the ball joints are dremeled out by hand. As a result they don't sit against the joint so there is no contact and thus no way to make the ball joints on her work well without sueding.

As for her upper torso joint there is also very little contact between the two pieces. The resin is also fairly slick. So far sueding and restringing has helped the thigh joint but the torso joint is a bit tougher to figure out. So far I've sueded her thigh joint, her upper torso joint and her neck. The neck joint is much less floppy with sueding

What I need to figure out next is how to fix the wrist joints. There is nice movement in the wrist for the 62cm body but the Nuevo wrists don't hold their pose at all.

All in all, it's a beautiful body and I don't put my dolls in crazy poses normally anyway.

 

I did plan to have her have short hair. I was just going through what I already have to try and figure out which color I wanted for her and style. I do have a short black/blond mix that I like on her, but I really like this silver braided one. I got it years ago from someone here on the MP and they didn't remember where they had got it. I know Iplehouse and Soom have braided wigs so you can check there. I might get her another in a different color.

I usually suede my dolls too just to help with the posing even if it isn't that bad. I'll be doing that when I restring her. Looking inside her body, it should be interesting with those seperate cords being tied to the resin hooks in her lower body. I just Hope I can get her back together properly. At least she came with a guide!

Lol, the dress is actually a shirt but I had hoped it would in fact work as a dress for her when I saw it in the pics. I find it amusing that it is from a guy's outfit and yet is says fashion chic all over it.

I will update pictures as soon as I get her face up done at least. I may do that when I get home from work tonight, though not sure about the restringing just yet.

Yeah, I was directed to those sites before (by you, perhaps?!), but they didn't work out. Soom's is too big (and sold out, anyways) and Iples's braids are too thick (I would rather there be lots of thinner braids, like the wig Jade is rockin', as opposed to fewer, thicker ones). Ah, well. I'll keep looking. Thanks!

 

I'm in love with Charles sculpt, but he reminds me a LOT LLT Ludwig that i'm waiting for over a year. Right now i dont know if should I buy a Charles or wait months (possibly a year) for Ludwig release >.<

 

Nope! It's from a Luts Senior Delf set. This one. The pants don't even come close to fitting. Haven't tried the vest on yet and I need to fix the belt thing because it is huge and just falls off of her.

 

I'm in the exact same position icaro! I'm in love with Charles and Ludwig both and I'd so love to bring them both home!

Popping in to offer my comparison of a few whites:



I don't know if the distinction between the 'whitest whites' is very clear, but Supia's is the whitest, and there is a noticeable difference between 2011 Dollzone white and 2012 Dollzone white. In any case, I think it is quite clear that none of them matches Granado WS, which is absolutely the loveliest WS of all, except if you like your white very white :P.

I also need to take some pictures of Florie with her youngest child, who arrived two days ago . But since I had to take the colour comparison picture *on the windowsill* and even there, my camera occasionally felt obliged to use its flash, I'm waiting for a little more light...

I've been leaving the house at 9 to go to work and not getting home until 10:30 or 11 at night because of responsibilities at my mom's. Jade is no longer limp spaghetti, but I cannot keep her feet apart so still can't get her to stand. Is there some trick? I've tried turning her thigh joints but no luck so far.

 

yah the body likes to snap the legs together. I am considering opening the leg hole up a bit toward the top so that i can get the leg to bend out more.

 

I dunno - I have no problems getting Florie to stand. I just use her thigh joints. They work very well... I keep her loosely strung because I think that if her elastic is tight, it will be difficult to get a thigh joint pose to stay put. But I have little technical talent, so I may be completely wrong about this.

Florie's thigh joints get used almost automatically. I mean: because she is so loose, I don't have to do anything much. When I sit her down and bring her knees together, for example, the thigh joints just flip into place. Here, for example:



...This just stays in place and the pose is very solid.

 

When she sits (wow can she sit strait with no aid!) her legs go apart and won't get close XD. I'll just keep playing with her and maybe her elastic with relax some. I just looked into the stringing of her legs...don't think I'll attempt to restring those any time soon! The upper body was really easy to do though! Normally it takes me over an hour to restring a doll. It took me ten minutes to do her. Just had to tighten one piece.

I was thinking of waiting to do her face up tomorrow, but I think now I'll do it after supper. I really want to see her with her face.

 

Morrigan's thigh joints don't like to go in the position that Florie's are in. If they do her entire leg buckles. Again I think it's because there is no traction on the joint there. She sit's jsut fine though and the thigh joints work in sitting positions at least ^___^ I will play more with her with the face plate off in case she falls to see if I can get a hang of posing her.

I will! She is still naked and headless right now. I just finished hot glue sueding her torso. I'm debating on trying t loosen the string that goes between her legs a bit to see if that will help any. I don't want to get her all dressed again and then decide 'hey, I should I have loosened that!' XD

edit; changed my mind after taking her upper body apart. That knot is impossible to get out D: I'll get used to her and she'll probably stand when she's in shoes.

Honestly though, I am surprised that the female nuevo body has such issues when the male body (both versions) stand/pose like a rock. Huh.

I agree. I love the male bodies and the 62cm girl body. I think the issue is that all these companies are trying to find ways of hiding the thigh joint on these dolls. I know that the NL bodies from Souldoll have a lot of posing issues as well because they also went for a sculpt to hid the joints.

Personally I don't mind the joints showing. I'm not looking for extreme realism from my dolls. Just beauty and part of that has to do with beautiful posing. As long as the joints aren't overly prominent I don't mind seeing the string slots.

I wonder if we could petition Granado to bring back the 62cm body. I think a lot of ppl started ordering their Granado girls on the Nuevo body because it's so beautifully sculpted an ignoring the 62cm body. But with time I found I love the posing of the 62cm body as well as the shorter stature. It's fun to have dolls of varying heights and if they had made the 62cm with a small bust and medium bust option I would have bought those for my Taya.

EDIT: Not to mention that it was super tough to restring my Nuevo girl body with thicker string. The stringing system is super odd.

So here is how Jade looks right now. I think the silver hair and green eyes has grown on me. She is wearing a Soom supergem set and it fits perfect. Her regular outfit is back on over this.

Yeah, the whole 'invisible joint' trend does tend to cause either instability or a general lack of mobility... Like you, I'm actually somewhat fond of the joints in dolls. If a picture really calls for a lack of jointing (which is rare), I'd rather just 'shop it out. I love the contrast between the realism of their faces, and the obvious doll-ness of their joints. XD

And I still haven't taken the time to pull apart any of my Granado boys to check out how they're strung. ^^" Given people's reactions, I think I'm a little grateful that my boy bodies have come with perfect stringing. :3

Ah!! She's done - and she looks hot! Mm-mm~ That face fairly drips with attitude... I love it!
And a thumbs-up to the silver-green combo. It gives her a rather piercing gaze, doesn't it? I gotta head on over to your gallery post to see how Jade and Rinzer kick it off together. XD

Myuh. To be honest, I really, really, really do NOT like the 62 cm body. I wouldn't even think of buying one, no matter how well it poses, and I was really disappointed with its (in my opinion) cartoonish proportions when the boy body was so nicely detailed and real-looking. The Nuevo body may have its issues, but it is the most flexible of all my tall girl bodies, capable of taking (and keeping) poses that the others can't, and really gorgeous in terms of sculpting and proportions. For me, the joints didn't need to be hidden, and I was nervous about handling the body before it arrived - but as I said before, for me the thigh joint works very well. I'm not looking forward to restringing the legs, to be sure, and I need to suede the neck because Florie's head still goes 'flop'. Since there is an answer to the 'flop', I'm not going to complain too much about it. The only thing with which I have a real issue is the mobility of the hands. It surprises me that such a mobile body has so little hand movement, and I wonder why it is so.


LuckyXIII, it seems like you'll have to keep an eye on those two. If you ask me, they plot to conquer the world together! :P

ikaru, your Xavier is so delightfully colourful! I can see why you don't want to put more clothes on him - but I do think the poor boy will catch a cold *grins*...

Sigune - A love your Florie! And thank you for white skin comparision. I do like Granado white skin but actually I decided to order my Charles in pink, not white. But I will keep in mind this comparision, might need it in future!

So, yeah, I didn't have time to place an order earlier, so I'm going to do it just right now. I decided to keep make-up for Charles, so we will see how he looks in pink skintone and face-up. Oh, I'm so excited ^^

 

Xavier!! Oh, Ikaru, he's gorgeous~ I certainly would have no qualms about asking him to serve me.... Though I'd likely be asking for more than just water.

Counting down the days until my own Xavier ships.... Can't wait!

Yeah, the original body's proportions were odd, but for some reason they looked really natural when you put clothes over them. I remember being surprised but how much of a difference it made (whether the clothes were form-fitting or not). But regardless, the nuevo body definitely wins hands down when it comes to 'pretty'!

And I don't think that Ikaru's Xavier will be the only one catching a cold in this thread... Florie is still rockin' her Christmas linguine, I see! It's so cute, seeing her with the little kiddie.

Congrats on your order. ^.^ Did you just get the head, or end up ordering the body as well? At least, since the winter event is still running, you'll get that lovely face-up of his for free. I specifically asked for them to skip the free face-up for my Charles, so I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

I have bought some fabrics for a winter dress for Florie, but I haven't got round to making one yet... There is also a 9nine (summer) dress on the way; I'm curious to try that out.

Funny thing, that, with the 62 cm body looking good when dressed. I have noticed the same thing about the new Supia body. When I see it naked, the breasts seem far too high up, but when the body is clothed, they look perfectly normal. I guess what weirds me out is a push-up effect without an actual bra :P. The Granado 62 cm body looks corsetted without an actual corset.

 

Lucky XIII, I really like the silver wig on Jade. It gives her a distinctive look. Very sweet reunion between Jade and Rinzer!

Ikaru, your photos made me laugh! The poor guy has to model shirtless AND deliver water. He works hard!

I like both girl bodies, but I'm especially fond of the 62cm. She does look better in clothes, but I think there's an optical illusion with where the joint lines are-- they make her look more exaggerated than she really is.

 

So.... I sort of blew my saved Granado Nuevo body money on two tinies. HA! I have no self-control. *starts over*

So, yeah, I ordered whole sexy Charles with nuevo body And face-up. I just ask not to do his moles and teeth, so anyway my man is going to be different than Charles

Once things are not so crazy around here from the holidays, I think I'll start work on weapons and proper clothing (at least for Vee). Rinzer and Jade and use what they have but Vee's clothes are totally wrong for his character. Still, at least he's not naked...though he's not one to mind that, just like Jade. I'm not sure I'd want those to being alone for too long. They'd get into all kinds of trouble which means poor Rinzer would be in worse trouble! XD

 

hamleta - congrats on your order! You won't be disappointed. Do you have an idea of how he's going to be dressed?

I have heard the earlier body is nice too but I'd have another Nuevo body in a heartbeat!

Ha! You'll find no argument here! XD I'm tempted to have my own nuevo guys sittin' around wearing nada but their smiles.

I know what you mean... I've seen a few female bodies with push-up-bra-style cleavage and always thought that they looked a little odd - until I saw them wearing clothes. Then it was just wow. It's a really nice effect as long as you don't intend on having the doll run around naked all that much.

What else was it that you were planning on doing to her? Was she going to have tats?

Are you updating Vee's look because you want him to fit into Jade and Rinzer's storyline, or have you always wanted to head in a different direction with him? Those cat eyes (and ears!! <---- I'm such a fangirl of Vee in those ears) of his would be staying, wouldn't they?

Oh, you did get the body - you definitely wont regret it! It's cheaper to buy the body with the head as well (it's why I always try to buy a whole doll if I'm going to be using a Granado body for it). Plus those smexy bodies are just too much to resist, anyways! ^.^

You'll have to be sure to post some pictures of the altered face-up when your boy arrives hamleta, ! I'd rather like a close look at Charles' make-up when it is minus the teeth.
