Gloxinia, my first bjd project! NEED OPINIONS PLEASE!

Dokuya- I liked sculping her hands and feet. The feet used to have really nice arces and curves on the bottom... But then I strung her up and she wouldn't stand right. So I had to sand them flatter than I really wanted. But she stands, so it's a fair compromise.

Well her legs pose okay. I can use a thicker, weave-covered elastic for them. I just have to fuigure out how to get the tension in her arms. I suppose I could widen the slots at her joints to take a thicker cord. I went out recently and bout a few different kinds of cord and elastic so I have options to fiddle with.

He heee... Awww that's such a cute thought! If I decide to mess with anything other than fleshtones, I'll probably only use the craft store resin dye, but that should work okay too. I suppose I could try it, but I might have to charge a little extra for a special request resin color.

Quickie Update: Still sanding and gesso-ing. I now have some primer that am going to try and spray her with so she will have a good smooth finish.

And at the reccomendation of batchix, I made her headcap a little taller. It looks better now. Thanks batchix!

 

Sometimes I hate my own insatiable curiosity. Now that you've gone and said it I keep wondering what she would look like in different colors. When I get the casting stuff I'll pick up some of the craft store dye and mess with it. I think she would look cute in blue. And I just love faires, so now I want to see her as one!

She was just feeling attention deprived and demanded camera time. She also wanted to demonstrate that she was still way cuter then my new SD head sculpt, Squall (yes, as in FFVIII).





I'm about to spray her with primer. Can anyone give me any pointers about Testors primer? Can I spray it on over gesso? I sure hope so...

Goil- Several people seem to want her in non-traditional skintones. I think that my tenatative plan is to charge a small fee ($10-$15) for custom resin colors, just to cover the cost of the resin dye I would have to buy. When all is said and done, I will probably have Caucaisian, African American, Red, Yellow, and Blue dye to cast with. So I could probably make her just about any color your heart desires!

Shiza- He hee. I like that she can almost get away with looking like a larger doll unless you put her next to something for size reference.

Lady Thesta- It's funny you should say that. I was suprised when she started developing a specific personality. She IS actually quite the devious little thing. Such a big attitude for such a tiny girl!

Progress is slow but steady. I will post new update pics when I have something worthy of showing.

Pheonix- Thank you. She will not be ready for sale for at least a month, so if you really want one, you have some time to save. I can ALMOST garantee that her price will not exceed $200. And that would include the costom resin color charge.

 

Your Attention, Please!

Since my little girl seems to have attracted some very positive attention, I would like to gather some information. So I know how much resin I will have to order. I will also be ordering eyes to go with her to sweeten the deal, so I need to know what to order for that too. Sooo...

For those who are seriously considering or are definitly planning on purchasing my girl, if would you please pm my with the following info:

Resin color:
Eye color:
Face-up: Y/N
Outfit: Y/N

At the moment she will not come with a wig. If you want more than one pair of eyes, please specify. I use Artistiqe eyes if you would like to visit thier site to see their color selection. For resin color, she will come in three standard colors: Snow White, Cream (normal), and California Sushine, a special limited golden tan. If you would like any other special request colors (red, blue, etc.), PLEASE be very specific!

It will still be awhile before she is ready to be sold, I am just trying to get some preliminary info. Please be patient with me, I have never done this before. Final pricing will be determined a litte before she starts going on sale.

Of course not! No one who pms me is obligated to buy her. But if you change your mind about anything please contact me. Nothing will be absolutely final until I am ready to cast your doll specifically. And even then, you will be contacted to make sure that you still want her. Probably more than once. You will not be required to pay until you have seen photos of your doll and are satisfied that she is what you want.

Today I picked up a set of iridescent pigments to experiment with. You may even be able to get her in an iridescent color!

My casting supplies arrived the other day. But Gloxinia is not properly preped yet to start making the molds. I would make a practice mold of something random to test the process out and to see what the resin is like, but I don't want to waste any of the silicone if I don't have to.

 

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a really long time!

I had to set her aside for awhile. When I was priming her I dropped one of her leg pieces and it broke. And I got, pardon my bad language please, but I got pissed. I nearly threw the other pieces I was working on across the room. Then I got busy with other everyday stuff, so she kinda stayed on hiatus.

I'll start working on her again right away! I'd hate to dissapoint people who genuinely like her. I have the silicone and the resin for the first few test casts already. So I'll give it a go as soon as she is primed. Wish me luck!

Final price listing!:

$130- You get one Gloxinia, nude with a random pair of eyes and wig (probably fur), no faceup, no blushing.

$150- Custom- You will get one Gloxinia with a pair of eyes and wig in the colors of your choice, an outfit in the color scheme of your choice, including matching ribbon sandals. And she will be custom painted and blushed by me, including any beauty marks, tatoos, manicure and pedicure. (even though she is so small she really does not have distinct nails, I will paint them on for you). Her seams may or may not be sanded.

Please add a $10 charge for any resin color that is not Snow White, Peaches and Cream (normal skin), or California Sunshine (tan).

Other news:

My next doll sculpt will be an MSD. I will start him or her when my first doll, Kid Delf Litchi, comes home to model for me!

NancyS: Heheee. Bubble wrap. I was thinking that since it was the holidays I could go out hunting for a good sized box for her to come in. She deserves a fancy little box to come in. With a blanket. Myabe even a bit of bubble wrap.

 

TreeLore- Newspaper and tape for her torso and head. Wooden dowels for the arms and legs. But I took them out before baking the limbs. Hope that helps.
