Glorydoll Lucy/Louis & Karin/Karl discussion

QUESTION: has anyone seen a lucy head on a spirit doll body?
I am getting a milky head and wonder if it might match to the white resin one?

I have now ordered a normal yellow doll family h girl body and crossing my fingers that it's an ok match to my mitsuki

 

I've received the doll family H body and it's too yellow fo rmy taste I mean, it CAN work... so it's back to figuring out a body...

Hi there Kuranosuke!

Unfortunately the GD heads are going to be much to small
for a DOI body . Glorydolls are a little under 60cm(56.5cm) while DOI's
are a 70cm. Also the neck wholes won't match up either
and probably will prevent the head from mounting. I hope this helps!

hello, i see some people are wondering about Glorydoll on Spiritdoll bodies...and I have two milky Glorydolls (Miyuki/Mitsuki) on spiritdoll bodies.
I got the bodies in natural skin as their white skin is pretty paper white while the milky skin is more cream colored than white. When the bodies arrived there were a shade off, but after faceups and blushing the match was pretty nice~
here's a pic of my boy (sorry too much in a rush to get my girl out)


oh and the bodies are the elegance line bodies as the larger bodies are too big for the glorydoll heads.

I noticed that Glorydoll has been silent since Christmas on the news front. They also have sold out of the Basic Louis. They are still active, right?

 

Don't buy from them. They've stopped communicating with their buyers completely since a group of us were calling them out on false tracking numbers and gone by shipping dates. They are dishonest, and haven't sent word to anyone since May. Their board is back logged with people wondering about their orders.

Some of us, including myself, recently got their orders from December. But there are still many wsiting and I personally feel its risky. Not to slander a company or anything. I'm just very concerned for other buyers, even though my Goth Fancy finally did make it here.

I would buy only secondhand. Just a heads up.

Does anyone know if Glorydoll milky skin matches Volks white skin?

I searched the thread and found many comments saying Glorydoll does not match Volks normal skin, but doesn't say anything about Volks white skin.

I own a Glorydoll Louis, but he has some problems with his legs. He has two left lower legs! The one that should be a right lower leg, is definitely a left lower leg.

I have considered switching bodies entirely, which would probably be the more sensible thing to do, but for the time being I'm giving a shot at trying to buy just the leg parts, or a damaged Glorydoll boy milky body, and have therefore put up probably the most ridiculously specific marketplace thread there is.

However, I'm aware that this might be a lost cause, so I figured I should research backup options. I am thinking either Volks SD10 boy white skin, or DollnDoll king white skin. I like those body sculpts and I'm hopeful someone can shed light on whether they would be a good match. I don't need absolute perfection, but I am hoping it is close.

 

Miri, I have a milky skin Louis, and though I don't have a white skin Volks doll I have seen them at meet-ups fairly often, and I think with maybe some blushing it should be possible, they both have this pinkish white tone. Good luck with finding him new legs!

My own Louis is off to Finland at the moment(well, his head xD)for a new face-up! I'm so excited, expect much picture spam when he comes back! In the meantime, let's revive this thread with some more pictures?!

And uh, this is horribly late, but finally I got around to painting my Glorydoll Louis (...whose name I might be changing for the umpteenth time so I won't even bother with introductions):



There are a lot of flaws on this faceup but no matter, I will try again some other time. For now, at least he has a face! So that he can pout petulantly, as he was always meant to. I'm doing some major mod work to his body (and combining the Glorydoll boy upper half with some Volks SD10 suwaricco legs (which btw are not the best match, Volks has a very slightly more peachy undertone but it's close enough not to bother me), and also changing some things that I dislike about the Glorydoll torso while I'm at it.

 

Totally unexpected to see this thread revive again, but while we are at it, I'd like to post some pictures too! (if it's ok) x)

I always loved the "gothic" limited editions Glorydoll did... alas, my chances of finding and owning own of those are probably quite slim nowadays, as they've been out of business for so long and the dolls are not easily found on the secondary market.

I totally forgot to check back on this thread (T^T) silly me. Yeah, I'd LOVE to own a Goth Lucy one day too. But... I doubt the chance would ever come. I still regret not ordering both Miyuki and Lucy back then.

I tried the link on page-1, and first I got a warning page about how the site might potentially be dangerous to my computer. Next try, the page didn't load at all, and the third try I got some sort of pseudo doll-discussion page, but nothing about BJDs.

Can anybody help, please?

In order to get any of the Glorydolls, one needs to stalk the secondary market.

Yihanx, I wish you luck. It can happen! Glorydoll might be rare these days, but not nearly as rare as some other sculpts are, and I see them pop up every few months.

Reviving the thread just in case anyone is curious about hybrid options, I finally put my Glorydoll Louis (milky) on a Luts CP body (beauty white) and here is the result:



Sorry quick and poor quality image as the sun was going down and I was rushing. And one of his eyes is missing, but shhh let's ignore that for the moment (I'm going to pop his head off to redo his faceup tonight or tomorrow anyhow).

I really like this hybrid! I think after all my body angsting, this is the right answer for me. Now, I like the proportions but I think for an absolute perfect fit you'd want to shave the neck down a little bit or widen the neck opening on the head, but this is good enough to my eye that I think I will let him be. However you can see that without the wig, the neck looks a tad long.

Color difference is negligible, though I have heard that Luts CP, particularly old CP, is kind of luck of the draw so who knows. The body does have a sliiightly greenish cast in some lights, while the head is the most pure white resin of all the dolls and doll parts I own, with only a very slight creamy cast.

ETA: I thought he was looking really cute in this wig, so a little extra photo! ...still with that one missing eye, haha.

 

Necroing this thread since I finally redid my Louis's faceup. And named him Conradin.

However I've got to admit I'm just an amateur not a proper faceup artist, I've never painted anyone's dolls but my own before and I don't have a commissions thread. You can pm me or contact me on Flickr if you are still interested though; I would not normally offer commissions but I love this sculpt too so I don't mind making an exception for a fellow fan of Glorydoll. Congratulations on getting him!! Glorydolls seem to be getting harder to find these days.

It is a shame Glorydolls are rarely seen these days, but given that the company went under so long ago it's no surprise there aren't many around. It would be awesome if some other company were to buy up Glorydoll's sculpt licenses/molds - like how Ariadoll (I think?) went under but Switch bought their body molds so the bodies at least are available again - but I doubt it. Nice to see people still appreciating these dolls though!

 

Miri, here is a photo for you. I had the Glorydolls out on exhibit at our local library this past year. People love seeing the dolls in person.

I think that you should post more photos of your Glorydoll. Then, we can keep this thread going. The Glorydolls are out there, we just need to show some interest in them. I really enjoy my girls. I have all Lucys.

 

Hey hoping to revive this thread with any pictures of Glorydolls? Especially Louis or Lucy since I'm looking for one but am having a hard time finding pictures to plan wigs and eyes with.

He's in Glorydoll's white skin tone... was it called Milky? And I replaced his hands with Delf girl hands. I don't play with him a lot but he's one of my treasures.

 

You always come through for me! Haha And you know he's my favorite Louis. This incarnation of him is absolutely beautiful though I loved all of the previous ones too. He always inspires me and I adore him so I can imagine why he's a treasure for you too. Thank you for sharing dear! Oh and did you not like the original Glorydoll hands?

 

Yeah, I didn’t like the original hands much but they also didn’t pose well if I remember correctly. I also replaced his feet, because the elastic was attached to an eyescrew in each foot, which I didn’t trust. I got Dollstown Elf feet and had them and the Glorydoll calves modded to fit together So he is quite the little Frankenstein.

 

Love that idea and yeah the Glorydoll body seemed to have a few kinks overall unfortunately. I wonder if they were all like that? Either way you made it work which is what counts lol. Most people hybrid. Thank you for sharing too.
