Glorydoll Lucy/Louis & Karin/Karl discussion

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lucy!!!!!!!!

Please someone figure out how/where to get her.

(and unlike some of the recent new dolls posted, she truly looks original)

 

They're beautiful. Louis's faceup in the one-off for September is gorgeous. It really downplays the lips being so far parted, which is the only thing I didn't like about the mold.
That boy body is just yummy, but the girl body seems a bit thick probably due to the lack of hips and the waist seems oddly proportioned with the smaller chest.
Is it just me or do their eyes kind of look like an elongated version of F-26's?

Wow, they're so pretty! they look a lot more like the artist BJDs than any other brand I've seen, which I think is wonderful. *And* they make their own (beautiful) bodies so no hunting around for the perfect size and color match.
Do you think that only the oneoffs get phantomdoll faceups, or do the standards as well? the stock photos look like Phantomdoll style, but they might have someone else paint the ones they send out.
I can't wait to see owner photos!

 

So I'm going to have to guess that those are Phantomdoll eyes too, huh?

 

The boy at least looks like he has the same body as Phantomdolls do too. :< Considering that there's serious speculation about the originality of those bodies I'm a bit dissapointed.

jerrysugarav: are you saying that Glorydolls (claiming to have an original sculpt) is copying Pahantomdolls (claiming to be an original sculpt) that was alleged to be a copy of Happydoll? arrrrrrrgggggggg.
Is anyone sure there is not a legit connection between the sculptors for these 3 companies? the phantomdolls thread seemed unresolved? To me the Happydoll and Phantomdoll sculpts are a lot different in the exterior detail but maybe derived from the same original master. Is it possible the same actual sculptor made all these bodies? (that was never resolved as far as I could tell)

 

It's definitely not exactly the same, but may have been resculpted from it. The body's detailing is much nicer than both of the others IMO, but the hip bones are pretty dead on to Phantomdoll's :/ If that's the case It is pretty disappointing since I think this body is nicer than both of those. :/
It's enough "speculation" >_< to make anyone intent on ordering a bit uneasy methinks.

I love Lucy, her face is a dream! Not so keen over the body, so I think I might take the risk and try to create a hybrid when/if funds permit :3

 

No I'm saying this is probably a colab with Phantomdoll sinc eshe's doing face-ups and eyes. But I think the Phantomdoll body is a knock off. Angelregion never got back to anybody on weather they were having a collab with Phantomdoll so who knows. I know I'm not buying bodies from either PD or GD until Angelregion gives the all clear. I do really love the heads though.

I have an AngelRegion SD boy body(and have had an SD AR girl body before) and this Glorydoll body looks similar to me, but not exact, like it was re sculpted(mostly the knees look similar on the boy, as well as the thick waist on the girl looks close to an AR girl body.

Also, this may be a coincidence connection but AngelRegion has their own limited line of Glory Angel dolls? (again, may have nothing to do with anything) So it's possible it's a collaboration.

The heads look so nice though x3

well I'm hoping it's a collaboration of some sort. Seems like every doll I've lookd at and liked lately has turned out to be a copy. Keeping fingers crossed on this one.

 

I wouldn't worry about it too much mhdolls If nothing else you can get just the head and then find a body to match!

probably the most sensible solution all around especially as I am totally broke right now

 

I like the unique body shapes of the female one, but IMO the shoulders joints need some improvements and the torso should be more detailed, wonder what resins she match cause the head tell me nothing.

These dolls are exquisite! And the head is so versatile - it took me a moment to believe that Louis and Lucy were in fact the same sculpt. Just...wow. They're definitely on my wish list now. *___*

I'm no expert but I don't see enough similarities in the body sculpts to be suspicious. Neither AR nor Happydoll has, to my knowledge, initiated legal action or issued a statement against Phantomdoll/Glorydoll, and since Phantom's doing the faceups it makes sense that he/she also worked on the bodies, so to me it's innocent until proven guilty. :P

 

Anyone know what's up with the resin (urethane) that does not harm humans? I thought all resin was harmful if inhaled.

Did you see the leather coffin box for the Duke? I wish I had an extra thousand kicking around the bank...

 

I'm planning on bringing this head home as a brother for my School A ^ ^ There's just something I can't place about this mold that screams, "SIBLING, SIBLING!" to me. I do plan on putting it on a Volks SD10 body though, because I'm not a fan of Glorydoll's, even if it is legit.

I asked on the board whether the white and normal skin would match Volks white and normal, and Glorydoll replied saying that white was different but normal was close. I'm not above some blushing to hide the difference, since I REALLY would prefer the Volks SD10 body, but others may feel the need to continue searching for a better match. I didn't lock my Q&A post, so those interested can read the reply for themselves

Hmm, that does sound weird... Maybe they mean that as a solid (not a dust) it won't harm people? Like, since they mentioned that it's "high grade", they want to assure people that it's just as safe as the urethanes of other companies? Pure speculation here ^ ^;

 

that was what I assumed they meant too: in doll form, it is safe. Probably they got questions about the safety of resin or else saw posts referring to the toxic fumes (in pre-cast liquid form) or the silicosis-like effects of resin dust (from sanding improperly).

 

I'm going to order Lucy next week and try to create a Glorydoll - Fantasy Doll - hybrid We'll see how that will go! I don't know how those two will fit together, but one has to take risks sometimes

 

I just made an order from glorydoll, and hope soom I can have some reflections to share with you^^, Lucy is really beautiful!

Still crushing on Louis. Lucy is also gorgeous, I think it's the emo eyebrows that are throwing me whenever I look at her. He's a serious contender.

Stella- The headmolds are the same for Louis and Lucy. The faceups are what make them look so different. I really love those eyebrows on the Lucy head. She looks like she's about to cry or she's in the throes of ecstasy.

 

Yeah, I do realize that the headmolds are the same. I just prefer a more "serene" faceup. I think it's just my own neurosis that I would worry about her. Can I get you anything? Are you OK? Just kidding here.
I am sure the Basic Louis will restock, as he is not a limited, no?

I am really happy, I ordered the Louis head in white skin to become an inresination of my character Echo Taillevent, I know he will be perfect

Since the bodies seem to be out of stock anyway (as in the basic versions of Louis) there's no need to contemplate originality now for me, but it leaves me with a big question....

Whose company's white skin would match Glorydoll's white skin???? We know Volks's doesn't... I really would appreciate your input once some of you have their boys and girls on hand.... please?!^^

And you know, I am really an oldtimer in this hobby, but this is my first attempt at hybridizing!^^ Oh dear. What an experiment.

I really hope that by and by more people will have a white skin Louis to compare to other brands. It is hopeless to try and find a solution from photographs alone....
I would love to have him on a shorter, less muscular body, that would be ideal for his character, you know. One of the Chinese bodies would suit me just fine, since they are often more readily available than others! So, thanks for your thoughts^^

 

Wow! I love them both! They are definately going on my wishlist! I am going to start saving up for at least one of them. I may have to sell my MNF Shiwoo for one, but we will see. I can't wait to see some owner pics! I am having the hardest time deciding between Louis and Lucy!

They are beautiful but why their faces are so shiny?

 

I am really confused. I see very very few similarities between the PD body and these, besides the boys' bit. The body is detailed much more starkly and much more intensively, and the hip bones on the PD seem to go straight down while these have a 45 degree or somesuch curve.

It is disappointing to me how every single new company is always copy copy copy. Regardless of if they really did or did not.

To me, the male body has the most beautiful and yet natural body and silhouette I have ever seen. It is quite honestly the only male doll body I have ever liked. Whereas, to me, the PD body and HD body seem much more plain and I don't care for them much if at all. Perhaps tiny changes can be the difference between love and dislike, but the only similar thing is the bit and that's a thing of rather unimportance for resin lads.

 

KakuraChan, the company originally accused of copying was Phantomdolls who were under suspicion of using the old Happy Doll/ now Angel Region boy body. In the cited thread Glorydoll wasn't even mentioned.
The only connection Glorydoll seems to have with Phantomdolls is Phantom doing Glorydoll's face ups (to the best of my knowledge).
IMHO the Phantomdolls body looks a lot different from the Glorydoll body, and I think it's possible these suspicions have gone a little astray. But that's just my impression.
It's always best to form your own opinion first methinks...^^

 

Hi there, here is my Glorydoll Lucy...she just arrived. I have put her on a Dollstown Pinkwhite Elf body..53cm..fits perfect...her face-up was done by Phantom. Eyes are 14mm Soom. I reall do love her, I have named her Evangeline or Eva for short.....

I don't really care if the bodies are copies or not (have read to many accusations that went astray), one of my boys ís going to be on one! I love that small and slender sculpt!

ArcaneMuse...thanks.....I'd say more of a pink undertone. She looked best on the Dollstown pinkwhite. The Volks N/S tone was too yellow, she did look good on Kaye Wiggs body and it is more of a pinkish tone but the neck of the body was too big/long.

I just discovered Lucy/Louis today, basically, and I am so in love!

But, does anyone know why none of the pictures on the website are showing up? I'm kind of bummed!

 

Louis and Lucy are beautiful... They're both on the top of my wishlist.
But I'm waiting to see more hybrids, maybe with chinese bodies... I want them in white skin. So I can't wait to see how the head looks with FDoll or AOD body.

And congrats for those who already have their Lucy or Louis.

Wanted to share my new Glorydoll Louis (head), Gwen ^^ Obviously he still needs a face up, but here he is with his father Menna (peroth) & brother Mallory (bliss) I love this sculpt!
