Ah well it doesn't take much to mature their look with a new faceup, wig and outfit. I think you'll be fine for head size, the head won't look out of place with them imo.
I've just ordered my goth lucy and I'm having a bit of a problem with clothes. I can't seem to find any measurements that match well enough with the glorydoll body, so does anyone have any tips on where to go apart from a commission?
Their measurements are probably closest to Volks SD13 girl, my girls have fit into generic SD13 sized dresses, but also Dollmore pants.
I'm gonna bust in here real quick since I have some information for you all. I know a lot of people struggle to find a good body for their Glorydoll heads since they are smaller in size (and since the bodies are kinda lacking I think). I was looking for a smaller body for my girl, but didn't want to get a Dollstown Elf body because it's so thin and wouldn't be able to fit most of my other SD girls clothes. Somehow I managed to stumble upon a perfect body for my Lucy head, and since I've never seen this hybrid done (to my knowledge) I thought I should post a picture: Anyone recognize this one? It's a normal skin Zaoll body. I couldn't be more pleased with this combination! The proportions, resin match, everything is perfect. And since the Zaoll body isn't incredibly thin, almost all of my normal SD clothing still fits this girl; she just can't wear super long skirts because they will obviously be too long on her. The neck was just slightly smaller than her neckhole, but a silicone disc fixed the problem entirely so she has normal head movement now. I hope this helps you other Glorydoll lovers.
Can anyone please help with my query? Would Lucy look alright on a Resinsoul 1/3 girl body? Or would she be too small? I'm not too sure what the resin match would be like either. Also, Glorydoll lists her neck measurement as 8.8cm, while RS measures 9cm. Is this too big of a difference that nothing at all can be done? Sorry, I'm new to the hobby, do forgive me if anything sounds stupid or nooby
There is a wonderful box opening with a Glorydoll head on a Dollstown Elf body it looks great, go here http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...ivery!-Glorydoll-Miyuki-and-Dollstown-Elf-NWS
I'm looking in on buying a Lucy head too and am wondering if this body would be good http://www.alicescollections.com/60cm-girl-body-p-3176.html?cPath=121_139....I'm also wondering if white would be good with Milky?
Has anyone waited for Glorydoll to restock? I just want to know how often they restock their option parts. Is anybody following this anymore?
Right now they're selling the entire basic doll (head and body), which hasn't been available for quite a while. I think it's been mentioned elsewhere that GD is focusing most of its time on the Goth and gore versions. . .If you don't like the body, you can sell it and match the head up with some other body. Well, oops, I see they are now marked sold out. I actually was surprised they were still for sale this morning; I thought from the news notice that the basic doll sales were just for December.
Flwrgrl, you do know you're not supposed to double-post and even less triple-post? - However I can see how it might annoy you, to have asked the same question tenfold and not getting an answer. I can only say that I've been on and off to their site whole of last year and the first time I saw signs of the basics being re-stocked was for the christmas event. Although I think they must have been selling them, but I missed it. I don't think they have a solid pattern of when they re-stock, it's very random and not very frequent. So don't hold your breath, but keep your eyes open. As far as resin matches go I think there's been a few conversations here about that already, and I recommend you flick a couple pages back or type 'glorydoll resin match' to the search box. //Edit, there's actually some discussion of the body-comparisons on this very page ;0
Sorry....my first post wasin december and I checked back in January and nobody has posted anything....I also posted a similar question on another thread, but they just skipped over my question. Thanks for replying!!! TuT tears of joy
You should probably subscribe to one of the Glorydoll threads and that way you will find out if there's any news about restocking.
Thanks!!! I have had enough money for awhile to get a Lucy head to mod...but as soon as I had enough money...they were out. They seem to have more activity during the summer and fall though.
Odette, your girl is beautiful!!! thanks for posting this Logaeth. What colour are the body and head? Here is my glorydoll I recieved recently, with a faceup by Jay Searle, she is so beautiful, I have fallen in love. She is on the dollstown elf body freshskin, the head is milky. The DT has a slightly greenish hue that the glorydoll doesnt have, but its practically perfect match. I am quite picky with resin matching, I normally cant abide hybrids for myself because the slight difference between head and body really really annoys me. Which is difficult, because it restricts ones choices a bit. I say this only because even as picky as I am with that, I am quite happy with the match. I tried her on a normal yellow doll family body, which I liked proportion wise and neck a perfect fit, but the difference was quite distinct. DF much more yellow than the milky. But it might be a good match for the ns, I dont know. I checked her against volks and the milky is no good for ns volks. and to show body proportions, sorry for bad pics
I'm gonna jump in here since I've been pining for a Louis since I first saw him! XD I'm so happy they take layaway, but I've heard that they're wait times are a little outstanding. I probably just want to save up and buy him at once. And what about those great outfits. Do they restock those, if anyone knows?
thanks Logaeth, thats really helpful. point apple your dolls faceups are wonderful. Do you have them on the glorydoll body? I wonder if anyone would be prepared to do a posing critique on the glorydoll body with pics?
Yeah, I thought so. Thanks Kawaii_Mon. I guess people just buy them nude then huh? I also wonder about the Glorydoll bodies. I've heard that they aren't good posers but I love their aesthetics and curves ^///^. I don't really worry about the posing capability sometimes so I myself wouldn't mind at all.
I just got Lucy on the no-joint-torso body and was really frustrated -- she wouldn't stand (knees buckled) and she wouldn't sit (fell back). . . wouldn't hold her arms . . . hot-glue sueding totally solved the problems, so I'm now good with the body, since she will hold basic poses and, as you said, the curves are quite attractive. However, I still have a couple of reservations -- I wish there was a smaller-bust version available for Lucy, who looks rather young; and the hands are awful. Not only are they unattractively sculpted, the hands basically have no ball joint at all, just taper and jam right into the arm, attached with string, not S-hook. I don't think S-hooks would matter. So there is practically NO wrist/hand movement at all. I think I'd like to try subbing in other hands, was thinking Dollmore but Lucy's arms are thicker. I do have a couple of Dollmore Model girls tho and may just try it out to see how it looks. New hands would greatly improve the sculpt. Bottom line, if I were ordering now, when GD is selling heads only as well as full dolls, I would order just the head, not the full doll.
Cat, asking something I'm sure you've answered before but is Odette healthy skin? And what DT skintone matches her? I'm actually thinking of ordering a Miyuki head and putting it on the GD body, then putting Lucy on the DT elf body as a younger sister. . .
To fix their posing issue, a restring is really needed with GD. I find they stand so much better after restringing and sueding. You also have to bend the torso forward to get the legs to kind of click in to place I have found. I have the old jointed torso though so I also lean them forward to help them sit when I'm too lazy to get them to click. As for the hands, yeah they actually need a hole to put an s hook in, they don't move because the eye bumps against the inside of the arm so it can't move about. I've been meaning to modify my girls' hands for some time - I reshaped the finger positions but I haven't attacked the ball of the hand yet. As for the right tone to match DT I think it's freshskin, but Cat would know better than me.
Lucy is starting to come together - with a minimal faceup for now, but we've found her look and I'm happy with her. Clothed, her body doesn't look nearly as voluptuous. She's going to get Dollmore Eve hands later (and a faceup, of course). When I get her head off for the faceup, I'll be better able to try out more eyes; I don't think these are her permanent ones. I really love the sculpt; it has so much character. I'm definitely ordering a Miyuki head this month. Oh . . . rumors that she has a small head are greatly exaggerated. She has a small face, but her head is huge and sort of egg-shaped. She couldn't wear any of my 8-9 wigs unless they stretched. Oh, she is healthy skin. . .
Ah, she's lovely Anita! Thanks for the response, too. @kawaii-mon: I think that's a good way to solve the problem! Being so new to the hobby, I never modded before and I wouldn't mind trying it to keep the doll a full one. I never considered a Dollstown body, though I think it's a good idea. Their proportions are similar aren't they? And they're bodies would compliment the sculpts well. Is that Milky skin or Healthy skin you have your Lucy in Anita?
Wow Anita, she is so pretty! Love the wig, and the coloring As for the posing troubles, I'm not too bothered by my Louis' posing, but he definetly needs more work/patience than your average doll. But I didn't wire or suede him at all, and last summer I took him to the forest and had him stand on grass, sit in trees and do all sorts of poses. So, it's possible, but it takes patience. For me, it's worth it because I really like the Glorydoll's body sculpting, but if you like another body just as much, hybridizing may be the way to go! Also, picture of Puppy: He looks a bit creepy here! But it was for a shoot with the theme 'God of Death' so it suits xD He has a(fairly)new wig, and new eyes, too. I ordered them for a different doll, but they were waaay too big for her, so Pup stole them.
Ah Raouken I've always loved your Louis and typically stalk your page just to look at him ^////^. So thank you very much for posting this pic! I really want to cuddle him every time I see him, and your avatar of him always makes me go 'awww'. I'm so glad there is hope for the GD bodies! ^^
Bummer - I went to order a Miyuki head just now and she's no longer available -- I thought GD would be selling her all month. I'm hoping begging works. .
*waves* i am sorry that i neglected to mention it ♥ Odette is 'milky' Glorydoll on 'freshskin' Dollstown elf.
Thanks a lot Cat! ^^ She is so pretty! I adore that photo! ^///^ I wanted my Louis to be pretty pale, and I think that Milky Skin is a bit paler than Healthy right? At least that what it seems in the pics. Though does anyone know about up close?
Has anyone ever tried putting Healthy Skin with a Dollzone body? I'm wondering if any of their resin colours matches, I wouldn't mind some jointed hands.
Bringing this thread back to life with a question and a little tiny bit of info. I know that GD Healthy skin matches Dollzone pink, as I've seen a hybrid with the 58 cm body that looks fabulous, so there's one more hybrid option out there! I also bought a Dollmore SD dress for my Lucy, and it fit wonderfully, it was even a tiny bit baggy around her waist, so I know where to go for clothes in the future now xD But my question was this: I restrung my girl two days ago, but had some serious issues because the holes where you feed the elastic through were so small I could barely get it through. Is this just GD, or is that normal for SD dolls? It was my first time stringing an SD, so I'm a little curious.
I see a Miyuki head part up for grabs if anyone is looking for it. when will they put up a lucy head!!
Treelore, Thank you!!!! At first I thought you meant on the marketplace and I couldn't find it. But I found it on GD's site, placed my order and paid for it. Never would have thought to check. thank you thank you thank you!!! And then, right after my order, I see she's sold out again. Dunno if that means it was a fluke or they had one in stock and wanted to get rid of it or what. . . .Guess I will find out. I'm fine with waiting for it, I just wanted to get that head. A small token of thanks, some spam of my finished Lucy:
I am glad you got it ! Lucy is certainly a unique character isn't she. Nice to hear the dollzone works too would love to see a nude picture of that combo!
Well, just to pass this along -- I put Dollmore Youth Eve hands on my Lucy (who is on the no-torso-joint GD body) and it's a major improvement. The hands fit perfectly, are quite graceful looking, and have way more range of motion than the GD hands. I saw a photo somewhere on DoA of another GD body with those hands so knew they'd fit. Dollmore normal skin; GD healthy skin. The DM hands are a bit paler so I blushed them to match but they're not terrible without blushing. Plus the GD stringing was loose enough to easily pull the elastic down to go over the Dollmore resin hook. Highly recommended as a body fix.
I have high dome eyes in my lucy but they seem to pushed back. Are the eyewells suppose to be sanded down?
It's the dome pushing the eyes back. I've found high domes (doesn't matter if it's glass or acrylic) don't work well in any of my sleepy-eyed dolls. Better to get different eyes -- either soft-silicone or glass with lower domes. My Lucy is wearing Eyeco "smoke" in 12-13mm. I had some 14mm Brilliant glass eyes (DDE) in her to start and they were OK too, dome-wise.
I read somewhere that lucy was 16mm eyes? does she do better with 14mm? OH! By the way here is my Lucy on a Dollfamily body! I've had her for awhile, but now I get to show her off. I wanted a smiling Lucy......Her name is Teresa and she has a face up based on Volks' Leisolette.
Goth Lucy fits 14mm perfectly, but basic Lucy is slightly gappy with 14mm. I still have my girl wearing them though, it's not enough to bother me.
14mm looks nice if you have soft silicone or oval eyes, eyes with additional white. But if they're traditional round eyes, 14mm can be gappy, as Kawaii-mon says. And it always depends on the eyes. I have bought "14mm" eyes that have been closer to 12mm or closer to 16mm.
I've been pining for a Louis for a long, long while...now that the heads are for sale separately again I'm defiantely considering one! My only issue is that I'd be making mine into a boy and there doesn't seem to be much success finding a size/resin match for GD and a boy body from another company. Has anyone had any luck with it?
glorydoll on sale now: http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...rst-half-year-s-event!!&p=8039202#post8039202
Just got my blank Miyuki head, much faster than the full blank Lucy (ordered her on June 3). Miyuki is going on Lucy's body; Lucy is going on a Dollstown elf body. I'm a little disappointed in quality - the mouth is rough. She doesn't have a full set of teeth, just a couple on one side of her mouth. It looks like the might have teeth in the opposite corner of her mouth (where they shouldn't be <G>). Fortunately, I don't particularly care about teeth (or really like them, for that matter). I did take the time to paint Lucy's teeth but I think I will just ignore Miyuki's if I can and hope the lip blush/paint makes them less noticeable. I'm not skilled enough to smooth up the mouth with anything other than blush or paint. . .
Has anyone had a problem with buckling knees? I've restrung my girl twice, with thicker elastic, but no matter what i do she will not stand, and when she does on a rare occassion it's only for a few seconds before she tumbles over. Just curious to know if it's just me or if anyone else has the same problem.
Yep, I had a problem with buckling knees. I didn't restring her (she came tightly strung) but I did hot-glue suede her knees and her hip joints (I think they were part of the problem). She's on a saddle stand but she WILL stand, just takes a lot of fiddling. I also found she stands better in boots with a bit of a heel, and if one leg is slightly back.
Ok I'll try to position her leg slightly back then, thanks! I need to go buy me a glue gun too, see if that helps.
So has anyone received their heads yet? (boy, does that sentence sound odd...) I ordered my Karin in the middle of July.
I wonder how long the heads will take to be delivered. Their full dolls take around 3 months. Took photos of Lilu for the first time in ages last week: Gallery thread is here.
She's beautiful Kawaii! I've always wondered how she was modded! The wig looks gorgeous on her too! I like how the two heads expressions differ!
Thanks! They're strung together though the arms, I've sanded their shoulders down a bit so that they meet evenly. Other than that it's clothes keeping them together. I have a piece of elastic around their waist so that they don't move apart, eventually I'll get around to making a proper corset/girdle to do the same job.
