Glorydoll Lucy/Louis & Karin/Karl discussion

After dreaming about her for nearly 2 years I've finally ordered my Lucy head.

Does anyone know if GloryDoll has gotten any quicker about their ordering process?

Just put in my order this morning, so it sounds like I perhaps have 1-2 months to wait?

I ordered two dolls from them, and I didn't think they took long at all. Right around 5 weeks they shipped them to me. I think Glorydoll has perhaps gotten better about their customer service.

No, neither of mine were painted by Glorydoll. But their faceups look lovely from their site pictures and also from the owner pictures I've seen.

 

I am so glad you finally got her. I remember seeing your want thread. I cannot wait to see how she turns out. Did you order her blank? I am dying to see customized Lucy's since most people order Glorydoll face ups.

 

Yep, I'll paint her myself...not sure when she'll get a body...but at least she'll have a face, right?

What size eyes does everyone's Lucy/Louis wear?

I have a spare pair of 16mm I'm hoping my gal can wear when she arrives.

I have a pair of 16mm's on my Lucy and they look great, but Everpurple eyes do run slightly small. I don't think they would look bad at all if they were bigger though, I think either 16mm or 14mm would be fine on her.

 

Glorydoll sent 16mm, but I have 14mm's in my Lucy's. The Goth Lucy is actually a recast of the basic Lucy, and I got her first and found that 16mm are just too big in her, so I bought 14mm for them both. The 14mm just fit my basic Lucy, there's an ever so slight gap if you position them in a certain way.



Your 16mm should be fine for your Lucy as long as the iris isn't too big I think.

 

They're a pair of Antique Rose, so the irises are pretty big...oh I hope they fit!

Thank you for this info!! Eyes are such pesky things, it takes forever just to decide on color, and then you have to worry about size too, lol!

My Lucy will tentatively be a "reincarnation" of a doll I sold a while ago, and these that I am thinking on were the 1st doll's eyes, so if the character fits it'd be doubly perfect if the eyes did too. I suppose she'll have to arrive to find out on both fronts.

I gave up on the MP for the body and ordered one from DT...I think everyone must love that body so much that they don't sell them

 

Yeah it seems DT bodies are hard to get second hand, I've always assumed people must love them too! XD
Hopefully the eyes you have fit and your Lucy fits the part for your reincarnation.

I was wondering if anyone has a preference of wig size for Louis/Lucy? 9-10" would obviously be too big, but what fits better in your opinions...7-8" or 8-9"?

8-9 fits best I think. 7-8 would be too small . They're on the smaller scale of SD heads, but not that small.

The reason I was curious on the 7-8" is that I still have a few smaller wigs that I've not been able to sell and it would be too perfect if they'd magically fit a new doll. I won't hold my breath though, thanks!!!!

 

Haha that's okay, I'm sure we're all full of questions when we find a doll we want that we don't know much about. Yay for cakes!

You might be lucky to squeeze it on her head, but the Glorydoll headcaps have really weak magnets and can be a bit troublesome when you're trying to put on a fiddly wig. It could end up being more trouble than it's worth DX

 

Congrats on ordering your Lucy head, gothiclibarian! It's such a lovely mold, I have a Louis but I wouldn't mind a Lucy to join him at all..I've just tried my Zaoll's 7-8 inch wig on my Louis, but it is really much too small..but the wig is fairy small for a 7-8, so maybe slightly larger wigs work better..8-9 works perfectly though. My Louis also wears 16 mm eyes, I've tried 18 mm but that is really much too big..16 is fine

 

Has anyone ordered a glorydoll lucy/louis with the newest incarnation of their face-up? The one that the basic louis and lucy have as their showcase photos? I'm really considering ordering one, but don't want to pay for the face-up if it doesn't look as lovely in person!

Does anyone know how long it usually takes GD to restock on option parts? I've asked GD about a month ago about the Karl/Karin head but it doesn't look like she's getting restocked anytime soon... ^^;

I've been searching for the perfect body for Twilight (Lucy) for such a long time. And, success! I finally found it! At least I think it's perfect. I have her on a Doll Family small bust body. Just love the proportions! And this body poses fantastically. The only thing I'm not crazy about is that the elbow joints could be a little prettier. But that's not enough to stop me from loving this body and recommending it. The resin is oh so smooth and the body comes sanded. You can get this body in three colors: normal yellow, normal pink, and white. This is the normal yellow and it's very pale. Twilight's head is milky. The match is close enough so that I can't tell the difference in bright inside light. But in bright outside light, the body does seem a tad darker and more yellow than the head. But since I never take Twilight in bright outside light or just on very rare occasions, I'm totally good with the resin match.

This body also is really terrific with Supia heads too. I had a dreaming Roda head on this body until Twilight stole it. I'm going to order another.

Oh, awesome! I've been thinking of getting Myrtle a new body, her default Glorydoll one has so many posing problems. I might have to take the idea from you!

 

Twilight's head is the milky skin tone and the DF body is normal yellow. I'd be curious to see a Glorydoll healthy with the DF normal yellow to know if that's a perfect match. It's always tricky getting a perfect match when mixing heads and bodies from different makers.

Thanks, octobercrow. Actually, I'm not sure about the website for DF, but you can get them on Ebay from seller jeeryrama (I think that's how it's spelled). It takes a month or so to get the body, but the seller is very good about communicating. In fact, when I got this body it came with two right hands. So I messaged the seller and he(she) just requested a picture. As soon as I sent the picture I heard back right away that they would send me a new hand, no problems. And I received a full set of hands really fast.

I struggled with Lucy's original body, too. Wiring the legs helped with sitting somewhat. But, in the end, I just didn't want to mess with it any more. Please go ahead and take the idea from me--that's why I posted this. I wanted to share because we doll friends have to stick together!

Funny, I've never had any problems with the Glorydoll body once I restrung it, except for the hands, but I'm going to modify them.

 

Really? My girl will barely stand at all. Perhaps I just need to mess with the stringing and suede her knees.

 

Thanks for that - sorry that I missed it in the post, must've just half read it and too busy looking at pretty pictures! My girl is healthy skin, so not sure which would match it. Anyone know how much difference there is between the milky and healthy skin tones in real life?

 

well they do have a smaller head than most SD´s, mine I had to put on a bobobie body.

 

Jay- Does this body match/look good with Volks girls? I love your photos You make me want to add Lucy back to my want list. I just took her off but now I might have to put her back.

 

Glorydoll doesn't match Volks sadly. Their resin colour is paler and more pinkish than Volks.

 

i wonder if Angel Regions girl body would be a match. its petite enough to match this head just wondering about the resin I know Angel Region ns matches dollstown Oriental skintone.. hmm anyone know???

I'M SO IN LOVE WITH GOTH LUCY!!!! (>_<) I really wonder if GloryDoll will put her up on sale again. If not I'd have to lurke around the Marketplace.

Anyway, does any1 have any idea if GloryDoll will go well with AOD body? I'm thinking of getting Lucy 1st then Goth Lucy if she comes up again.

Have read from the 1st post and it seems the only recomendations are
GloryDoll with DollTown & GloryDoll with Doll Family so far? Can any1 do a hybrid for me please?

I'm really thankful to all who have contributed. (Although it just makes me more desperate to get a glorydoll! ;P)

 

Ask Glorydoll if they have plans for another Goth Lucy, that's what I did when I wanted one. They told me they were, and I sat there checking their page for about a month and a half before they released her. XD

I don't know about a match with AOD, as I've never seen their NS irl.

They only answer their Q&A board once or twice a week, so keep waiting, they'll answer eventually.

From what info is in this thread, dollstown and dollfamily seem to be the closest.

I doubt it matches. Domuya is said to match resins like Elfdoll and CP, and glorydoll is much paler and pinker than those.

 

ohh... thats dissapointing. domuya has pretty joints...

Luts Delf (which is CP) is too dark, and Luts (the rest of the dolls XD) normal skin is too yellow. Sadly it really is a hard to match resin colour. I have 25 dolls in this house between my husband and I, and my Glorydoll girls don't match anyone.

Btw, they do a three month layaway, so if you have at least 30% you can make a deposit. All you have to do is place the order, and in the comments mention you are doing layaway and how much you are paying that day.

I'm interested to know what the difference is between the Goth-Lucy and regular Lucy is other than the stitches over one eye? (and the outfit etc.) Is there a difference in the sculpts?

The Goth Lucy is a modified recast of the regular Lucy, which means they added the stiches and then cast the head again. This means that the head is smaller over all. It takes 14mm eyes whereas the regular Lucy head fits 16mm better. Also the regular Lucy has teeth while the Goth Lucy just has an open mouth what I call a "gummy bit" I had to paint teeth on to my Goth Lucy.

I must say I had to step back and remind myself I have two Lucy's already, cause I really like her!

 

I like her too, except for the blonde/yellow eyebrows. And not sure about the pink outfit with the zombie skin color. I think she looks much better in the gold dress.

 

That is good to know Kawaii-mon. I love Goth Lucy but I think she would scare my daughter too much. She is only 6. I like teeth so I will add Regular Lucy back to my list again lol I had asked early if Glory doll matched Volks and what I should have said does the Doll Family body match Volks. I like how graceful it is.

 

This just occurred to me as I was replying to another thread. For those that had posing issues with the glorydoll body, did you ever try to restring it to be one continuous loop of elastic instead of two? Because I could barely get my girls to stand or sit before I changed their elastic and sueded them, and now I have no problems. (mind you, this is the old body with the waist joint, I don't know what the new body is like)

 

I really love the Zombie Lucy. She would've been perfect for the character I have in mind if it weren't for her undeveloped body. Ah well. M

The Lucy head is exactly the same as the Louis head, so it can sit on a boy body. It's not as small a head as people say it is, I've seen much smaller SD heads on bigger bodies.

And while I'm posting, I'm not so sure about the Goth Karin/Karl and Mitsuki. The Goth Lucy/Louis mods were tasteful but I feel these are a bit sloppy and not as well executed. I'll be interested to see owner pics of them though.

 

Thanks for that, yeah I'm planning to put him on 65 cm boy body ( if I had him) and it wouldn't be good if his head would be much smaller from his other brothers T_T
I saw you have twins Lucy, they were so gorgeous, Lucy is my favorite sculpt so far, its really unique and different.
I hope Glory doll could make the adult/teens version of Lucy in the future

 

What sculpts are his brothers? Unless its a big Volks head I don't think you'll have too much trouble.

And thank you, I'm glad you like them! Lucy is my favourite Glorydoll sculpt too, I really wish I had a place for a sleeping one!
