General Mecha Angel discussion thread!

Jul 20, 2011

    1. well.. i checked but they are flat feet not arched... im so sorry...
I will keep my eyes open for them for you.. hugs, De

    2. Well, I have one more payment on my Deneb and then it's a waiting game. Because of the economy I've been doubling up on my dolls. I also wanted a female Vega but there was no way I could afford both complete dolls. I'm currently waiting on the arrival of my blank Vega head which I'll work on to kill the time while I wait for Deneb. I want them to be rival fashion models, so it works out. These two characters wouldn't be caught dead on the Runway at the same time anyway, LOL!

    3. Cooooooool... i can't wait to see pics of these two rival models.. awesome character idea.

    4. my Saiph just arrived yesterday (rather suddenly - and barley three days after my Migma O_o)

so i'll link my picy as its them together. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6057/6267767679_685d8b8e42_o.jpg

Izanami (Saiph) will be going to a friends for a visit and a dress fitting. but i already adore her :3 she needs an epic re-stringing... she is so loose... but i cant wait until i can face-up her etc. :3

    5. love love the pics... thank you.... She is beautiful.

    6. I love my Vega's. Have two. Sanded down the neck so it's not so long. Also wired her. 12 guage solid.

    7. Cool... you sanded down the neck... is it noticeable?
Does it make the head look more proportionate to the body?
Im thinking of doing that exact thing.
Can you explain the wired thing?
Is it just one section of wire in each part of the body..
like one strand of wire up the arm across to the other arm?
I always wanted to try this wire thing... DO you keep the
body strung as well? Do you keep the insulation on the wire?

      Thanks De

    8. The sanding isn't noticed since head covers it. I used sanding sponges after a VERY careful shaving with xacto knife. Always wear a mask (the kind for dry wall at the very least) and use water on sponges or get wet sandpaper. Cover up and vac too. You can do it without unstringing if careful. Or take apart and sand under water. You don't want to breath it in. Wiring is easy. You don't unstring, just bend it in u shape (legs and arms...two pieces) and feed through. (Bend at "waist" and feed from inside. Can ease it through.) Easy. I've seen it on internet in several places, but wasn't that clear, and they say 14 (solid), probably because small BJD....12 (solid) much better. 12 holds pose. 14 is whimpy. The wire is electrical (plastic coated, I picked white for obvious reasons) and can be bought by the foot. 28-38 cents a foot depending on where you buy. Keep plastic on. Will post photo tomorrow. With yard stick next too. She is shorter obviously but looks a lot better! May sand down a smidge more but I prefer a little too long rather then too short.

    9. Thank you for the info. When i asked if the sanding was noticeable...
i was talking about the size difference with the head and neck.
Im sure we'd all like to see a pic. The neck length compared to
the head is WAY noticeable to me. SO, i hope after a good sanding
the head will have more accurate looking proportion's.
I think that is why I like my custom size head. I didn't have to change
      anything on the body.

I do have some of that wire you talked about.
Im going to try that tonight. Who knows.... I might be at it all night.
Stuffing wire up ALL my dolls arms and legs. (As well as my son's dolls)
so again, thanks for the info.. very helpful. ( :

    10. Paulajtm, thank you soooo much for the info on wiring. The simple approach of feeding from the waist (at the torso joint) totally eluded me. I too am headed for my speaker-wire stash now. I actually don't have that much trouble with my Sabik (I do LOVE those hip pins, tho), but some of my other dolls can certainly use some wire.

    11. Glad to know it's helpful! Now I have to figure out how to post pictures of my Eleanor/Vega. I just did Flickr soooooo.....

Still a smidge longer then I want but I will wait a bit before trimming her neck a bit more. Looks ok when she wears a wig so I'm in no real hurry.

Anyway, that's a shorter neck on Vega. Btw, I do historical costumes so that's why I put her in a "shorty" wig. I put a hat over. 1830's style.

    12. WOW... she looks really good. It is noticeable enough to say WOW! LOL!
You are right... a little more and I'd say the proportion would be right on.

I don't need the wire for my Mecha's... but my other dolls can stand
to be a little more stiff. Mostly the MSD's. All my tall dolls stand really well.

SO, thank you.... the sanding the neck thing with pics and the wire thing...
were all very helpful.... Hugs, De

    13. She's gorgeous! That shorter neck really looks good. And I love the wig.

    14. Thank you! She is a joy. I have wanted a doll like her since I was 12. Didn't make dolls like her in the middle-ages when I was young. lol!

    15. The middle ages. *laugh*

She looks great. ^__^ Do you have any shots of her in one of the 'historical costumes' you mentioned?

    16. Will have to take one since I'm not a picture taker as a matter of course. I'm working on another costume so her other costumes are put away. My sewing/craft area is a 8 by 8 room so things have to be stored away when no being used. Can dig one out in a day or so though.

    17. Ok... i finished stuffing wire in all the MSD size dolls and what few SD boys I have.
I tried to wire my Domuya females, but the holes are WAY to small. Is just big enough for the string.
The BBB and Resinsoul have huge holes so used 10 gage and 14 in the others.
They all stand like rocks and Im so excited.... thank you again. I appreciate the explanation
on how, why, what and where...with the wire ( :

    18. my new pepstar faceup [IMG]

    19. That's a wonderful picture! Looks fantastic! Glad I could help with the wire and stuff. lol!

Will have to wait on costume pictures. Been busy as all get out. Haven't even had a chance to work on current project for my Eleanor. I'm in charge of a Raffle for charity and I've had a devil of a time with the printers. Deadline looming rather large. Why is it they wait until the last minute? Beyond me.

    20. These are the exact same things I'm planning to do with my Deneb when she finally gets here.
As far as the high heeled feet go. I just modded a pair of the molded heels to use as feet until I find the elusive heeled bare feet. I'm also redesigning several pair of the molded heels.

By the way! Thanks for the wiring tips Paulajtm! This is really going to help a lot!

She looks amazing! You did a really great job on her. I'd love to see her in one of your costumes.

She looks great DeKaady! What eyes are those?

    21. Im not sure what eyes they are. All i know is... when you drop them.... they bounce all
over the house and go under the couch... LOL!

    22. So glad to find this thread! Just received my Rex yesterday and need information about clothing and shoes. Haven't checked the EID or DM Glamour guys' measurements against MA, but will do so, and share any new information. Still getting acquainted with my sexy boy and here is a quick picture. Please welcome Angelo.

    23. Steampunk hat and accessories.
finished: [IMG] full length rabbit vest jacket

    24. So nice to see a pic of your boy... Clothes are some what tough to come by if you don't sew.
Shoes, eyes and wigs are pretty easy. I think between all of us we can come up with a lot of
Mecha size info and helpful tips.

    25. I've found most all of the Dollmore Glamor Model guy clothes fit my elf Sabik. Pants or sleeves might be a tad short but usually they fit fine. The best looking thing on him, tho, is hands down the Soom silver outfit for mechas. Really emphasizes that lanky look. Iplehouse SID tops also look nice on him.

    26. M3 can do Mecha Angel size, you just have to ask. :) Basically, anything they have listed in EID size, you can request in MA size.

    27. OOh, this is very useful info, thanks, aernath! I love their clothing :)
I ordered a pair of inexpensive jeans from a small clothing site and they`re on the way to me. I`ll let you, guys, know how they fit.

By the way, Dollmore model shoes are much too big for MA guy (regular model, not glamor, those are even bigger >.<)
Does anyone know of a nice, non-black (white, beige, brown) loafers that would fit my big guy? He wants loafers since spring <.<

    28. Alright. I'm about to tear my hair out. I need to get a temp wig for my Sabik so that, when he gets here, he won't be bald. I want to wait till he gets here to fully plan out his look, though, but, even so, I don't want him sitting around bald and looking sad. So, I'm wondering what size wig he wears. I was told 9-10 but I want to verify that since 9-10 wigs are so hard. Can anyone help me?

    29. It`s definitely 9-10 for that pumpkin of a head ;) perfect size for mine :)

    30. My elf Sabik wears 8-9s in Monique, Soom, Iplehouse and other stretch wigs.

    31. My Vega also wears 8-9 wigs. I suspect he'd have to wear a 9-10 in fur, though, since those have no stretch to them.

    32. I suppose it depends on how stretchy is the cap... my 8-9 monique is definitely too small.
Plus I avoid touching the faceup and wrestling with a tight wigcap makes me do that :P

    33. I found out only ONE picture is allowed. Oh, well. I was doing my Vega/Elanor's neck a smidge more and decided to sand her hip joint. Has bugged me from day one. [IMG]

    34. Not a great picture, but she's smooth now. Doesn't bulge or show. Could use a smidge more but is fine.

    35. Nice sanding job... ( :

    36. Thanks! I was all set up and so it seemed reasonable to just get it done. Happened my husband was out of town for a couple days so I didn't have to stop and fix dinner or whatever. Takes HOURS, not a few minutes.

    37. Hee! I should be getting my Sabik tomorrow! :D I'll be able to spam him here soon. It'll be a wrestling match trying to get his box from the post office, though. How big/heavy is the box, usually?

And thanks for all the answers about wig size. I'm going to wait till he's here to get the gist of what he needs. He'll be my first bald and naked doll but I didn't want a repeat of what happened with my last three SDs. I got them all home and the clothes and wigs didn't suit them at all. Trying not to make the same mistake with him. :D

    38. Got my Sabik! :D I have no idea what to do with him, though, now that I see him. Seeing him in person is much different than the site. I literally don't think I know his style anymore. I thought he was a blonde but he might be a redhead now or maybe have black hair. I just don't get him but, hopefully, soon, I will. :D

I'm just glad to have him. His face is so gorgeous!

    39. Cool... Show us a pic of him... ( :

    40. Just looked into furniture for my Eleanor and Sabik. They do custom sizes for dolls. Pricey but I only need a couple. 1/2 scale is a little big and the 1/3 is too small. That's the usual. 20% more for custom. It's historical furniture copies they make. Victorion and Chippendale. But that's what I need for my talks. I take my lady with me to meetings of various lineage societies I belong to and give talks on clothing from history. Ladies love my Eleanor.

    41. Paulajtm, that sounds like a neat thing! Great teaching tool. :) (and isn't it amazing what you can accomplish when the rest of the family is gone for a while?)

malvagitabella - definitely wanting pictures here!

    42. My Sabik was supposed to have white hair, but when he arrived I put a red wig on his head (that didn't even fit him) and he's been a redhead since that moment. ;)
Good luck and have fun figuring him out.

    43. So here is my Sabik:

After ranting about how I don't know what the heck to do with him now on my DeviantArt, I FINALLY came up with something. I guess I just had to get over the initial shock of him. :D Right now I'm trying to get his wig. It will either be this one, one exactly like this one, or one altered to be long on the sides and back. We shall see. I also have found his eyes. Or, should I say, eyes I want to try in him. He's coming together and I'm so happy! :D

    44. LOVE the pic. Thank you... He will be wonderful... im sure. ( :

    45. Yay! Lovely Sabik! Looking forward to seeing this guy come together for you! He looks good in black. :)

    46. The Monique Gold 8/9s fit Angelo quite nicely, as do the JPop 8/9s. Here is a picture of him in JPop's Kana in Antique Gold (black with some streaking)

    47. i finished a zebra dress with black fringe today and also changed back to the white wig.

    48. I also covered her heels with feathers.

    49. Gorgeous Mecha's!! My Rex will finally be getting his body next week I am very excited! Poor guy has been sitting around for about a year since he arrived lol. I will post a pic of all my Mecha's once I get Weiss' body <3

I am happy to see this thread alive. The last time I checked a long time ago it was dead >.<

    50. I am still waiting for my Corvi which I ordered months ago, in May to be exact...don't know what the problem is. Victoria just keeps telling me to wait a little more. I ordered both Sabik and Corvi at the same time. I have had Sabik like 2 months now.....

    51. Hmm.. That's weird that they are taking so long.. Make sure they give you store points for taking over the 100 day mark.

Hope he doesn't take too much longer

    52. When was the last time you spoke with them about the doll and what did they say the delay was?

    53. Oh yes, I forgot about points. I paid him off begining of August. I got Sabik end September so I honestly don't know what the matter is. Well Victoria says mid November now so hopefully soon.....

DeKaady~ I asked Victoria mid October and she said she would ask shipping. Then I forgot about it and asked again Nov 1st and she said soon...then I asked again this past weekend and she says mid November. She never gave a reason and I didn't feel like pestering her. I hope he comes soon!!!!

    54. I was asking because in the past when a few collectors have waited a bit longer then normal for their doll, it arrives with some kind of defect or miss color or even a broken something.
So I guess i'd ask what the delay has been just to make sure it wasn't a problem with the doll. ( :
Who knows, maybe they just had a ton a order's to fill to make sure everyone gets their dolls by Christmas..

    55. Great news everyone...Corvi has shipped finally..Yay!!! I will post him here when he arrives!!!!!

    56. Congrats!!! Can't wait to see him n.n

    57. Thank you! Me too. I have forgotten what he looks like!!! XD

    58. Congratulations! You'll have a lot of fun with him! I can't wait to see pics!

    59. YAY! I'm so happy for you... Can't wait to see pics when he gets home. Hugs! ( :

    60. Yay! My Rex got his body yesterday! :) Here are all three of my Mecha's. Poseidon, Weiss, and Mephisto.
