General Mecha Angel discussion thread!

Either that, or just plain resculpting the MA bodies! 80cm size Soom dolls with more accurate and realistic body sculpts would be awesome! I LOVE some of the MA faces, but there's some weird anatomical problems and disproportions in the bodies that get to me. I think that may be part of the reason that MAs aren't as popular.

 

Personally, I love the MA body as well as the Sabik head, so I'm very, very glad I heard about them being discontinued back in the spring thus giving me time to save up and order when the final period opened (and I really did order as soon as it opened, sat all evening reloading the page and waiting...) Admittedly, the character I'm putting in that shell isn't human, so body weirdness has less meaning.

 

Does anyone have any idea why MA's home page no longer exist? I'm sorry if there was a notice about discontinuing the MA section but i haven't seen anything about it. I'm a little shocked o . o

Thanks for the advice . The one I wanted is Sabik (elf to be more specific, but it doesn't really matter). Have you seen any of him?

 

There's a normal skin elf sabik in the marketplace for $500. I just saw him now! If I had the money I'd snap him up.

Does anyone know if I can put my Corvi head on an Idealian body? Mecha Angel neck size is supposed to be 11cm, and I can't seem to find the size of the Idealian male neck anywhere. I guess I'm looking in all the wrong places. Can any one help me with an answer? Thanks!

 

Corvi should fit on an Idealian neck. My partner swapped her Corvi's MA body for an Immortality of Soul Class80 body and he looks fantastic!

ahhhh geeze yeah I only just noticed the MA are no longer up on the soom website. Honestly I think their trouble selling them had less to do with body weirdness and more to do with their lack of a clothing line for them. >> I was just about to put my Saiph boy up for sale but now I'm wincing because I had been of the mindset that if I have sellers remorse I can always rebuy him but now AHHHHH LOL maybe I should ponder a bit more. >> I really wish I could keep his head for now just in case... *worry worry* I really think the MA had some gorgeous sculpts and they were fun for less human looking things.

 

I definitely understand, nolavon! I just let go of Saiph, but there's no way my Deneb is going to leave!! After all these years I have still only ever seen one other white Deneb for sale secondhand. NOPE! KEEPING HIM!!

@minerva... it really would be wonderful if they'd sell them on better bodies. I don't think the heads would be suited for say... something like an iplehouse EID style body just given that they are a little less manly but perhaps something along that vein but less bulky would be so amazing ahahaha

The thing that stands out the most for me on them is, their necks are SOOOOOO crazy long, and their hands and feet tiny. If they were just a bit thicker and had you know... half an inch shaved off their neck lol...

That's exactly what I say! hehe

In terms of size hybrid-wise though, I think male Mecha Angel heads would go well on Loong Soul Grace bodies or Ring Doll bodies. IOS 80's necks are too thick even for their own 80 heads to fit on properly. Dollstown's 18yr boy body might be good for them too since the female bodies are good for female Mecha heads, but since I don't have a Dollstown 18 boy I couldn't really say.

I don't really want to go pull out the doll box right now and measure heads, but yes, her head is on the small side. I have a Super Gem boy whose head is pretty small, and I generally find that 8-9" wigs are best for both of them. (9-10 is okay for her, but not the SG. He sort of swims in them.)

Hopefully someone else has a doll head and tape measure ready, and can give you a better answer!

So, my kitty's reasonably together (need better clothes and stronger magnets for the tail).



I do, however, wonder if anyone has suggestions for the ankles, as they are the worst behaved of any of my dolls so far (and that's saying something, as I have an old D1-60).

Dang, I already restrung and hot glue sueded him. <wanders off to tighten stringing> He is now pulled to almost the level I try to restring my Domuya at (takes a second person to pull him tight enough) and still no improvement... guess this guy's getting stuck with tall/tight boots (and I'll be tweaking the stand, the tallest cheap one I could find is about 2cm too short to really hold him).

 

Yeah, we do a lot of leaning and artful draping outside.

 

I guess I'm lucky, because my Sabik is a very good stander, even now he is almost 2 years old and I believe his elastics are a bit loose.

 

Well my Sabik got here today, so my Mecha Angel brothers are together! They're still blank and bald and naked, and wearing random eyes I found around the house, but at least they have each other (and a modesty lap scarf). They are going to be fraternal twins, though I'm still not sure on names and hair colors and such. Or how to clothe them. They're so huuuuuge. At least Idealians still get clothing sets made for them and can share with EIDs and such.



They're both wearing 14mm eyes right now, though I feel like the irises are kinda big, especially on Sabik. What size eyes do you guys have in your Mecha Angel men?

 

You know.... I think mine is wearing 14mm. They were "small" back then... lol

And congrats! What a great pair! I love multiples, and would love to see your boys at all stages of their WIP. ^_^

Soom said 14mm, though I held off on ordering any until my guy made it home to check (because I regularly go smaller), but I'm quite happy with the 14s in my Sabik, and he's got Candy Kitten customs, now.

Thanks! I'm pretty excited about them. I was starting to feel kinda weird about my unfinished Antares, but didn't want to do anything with him til his twin was home, so maybe now they can make progress. And yeah, I actually don't mind the 14mm now that they've been in there overnight. I think it was just when I was positioning them and Sabik's eyes are kinda narrow, so even positioning the pupil against the top lid, the bottom of the iris was still well below the bottom lid, which made it feel 'big' to me. But he has a decent amount of white around the sides so 14mm's probably fine.

I've been wanting to try Candy Kitten eyes for a while. Maybe I'll get these guys' eyes from her.

 

OH! So the one on the right is Antares? I thought it was another Sabik.
I have Sabik and Antares as well! They seem to go together so well.

Yup! A Sabik and an Antares. I've always loved Sabik, and when Soom released Antares I immediately thought, "he looks like Sabik's younger brother." So I decided that "some day" I'd get one of each. "Some day" was supposed to be much much later, til Soom announced they were closing the Mecha Angel site. I know they've already done a Super Gem Sabik but I kinda wanted the originals, and Antares doesn't seem like he was ever that popular (or at least I had a heck of a time finding owner photos of him), so who knows if they'd ever bring him back in some other form, so I delayed a bunch of other doll plans and got them. Antares first, because I was pretty sure finding a Sabik secondhand wouldn't be too hard if something happened and I couldn't afford both before the site closed, and equally sure that finding an Antares secondhand would be nigh impossible.

So Antares got here in November and has just sat around blank and sad til Sabik could arrive. I've got other blank dolls higher on the 'get a faceup' priority list right now, so they might be blank for a while more, but at least they can be strange lanky hairless aliens together. (I swear that's what they look like right now. Makes Sabik look even more Bowie-ish than ever. Very "The Man Who Fell to Earth")

 

Baahahahahahaha! Everyone needs a little naked Bowie every now and then!

Yay! That must have been what the Soom lady wanted to tell me at Dollism, but she couldn't find the English words for, when I asked about Mechas! So glad that they aren't completely forgotten!! The outfit is great, too.

I wonder if they'd add WS if I beg? I have a NS Antares only because he was released after WS was discontinued.

Glad to see the MAs are still around! Much as I have no use for a bronze Antares myself it's really good to see that Soom are still making these guys. (And v.grateful Soom are still making clothes... I may have just ordered the priest fullset - though my elfen Sabik is definitely not a priest he could certainly do with more clothing!)
