Oh wow! Nice couple candygears!

I'm fascinated by Mr. Have's inkwell eyes. They're gorgeous!

 

Wow candygears, gorgeous dolls! I just love their styles, they look so unique ♥

And Dirili, yes it's a bit weird that all the announcements said ALL dolls only available in normal skin, yet the truth was something else actually and there was an exception... It might cause trouble to Soom if someone purchased Bellatrix thinking that she'd be NS and then be disappointed after receiving her :/ I'm starting to grow fonder of the idea of her being in tawny though, the character I was planning for the sculpt might look better than in NS. The only things that bother me are thinking what if the color is not so pretty IRL and not being to able to order the resin high heel shoes for her in the right skin tone

I know! I would imagine that would have happened with a few people if Bellatrix was ordered without questions.

And with the high heel feet, I love those too! My Bellatrix isn't the type of character that would wear heels, but they are so beautiful that I bought a pair because I don't mind blushing them to match different dolls. Unfortunately they feet are so large they don't scale with any other dolls I have though T_T It's so odd because the normal feet for both male and female mecha angels aren't really particularly large. In fact they are smaller than smaller dolls like Iplehouse and all.

candygears, I love seeing pictures of that boy of yours I'm a big fan.

 

I was tempted to get the heel feet, because they seem to work with the man MA body as well as the female, but I resisted. No heels for my boy. XD;

I did ultimately cave and order the Jointed Hand kit though. Especially since Soom is apparently kind of bad for "varies from batch to batch", so I figure that if I ordered it while they were still taking MA orders, that it'd be pretty close/working close to my Antares kit.

...Also, I am seriously hoping that the free clothes I get for my future Antares will be PANTS. I have the funniest impression that for pants it's pretty much either buy from the MA store, sew your own, or commission someone on DoA/some doll clothes service that'll tailor to specific measurements. XD;

Can deal with him being shirtless for awhile, but I don't like to leave my guys pants-less any longer than I absolutely have to.

 

Aces Delta, the Dollmore Glamour Model pants fit mechas almost perfectly. MIGHT be a tad short but some aren't even that. If that helps. . .

 

Really? I'll definitely take note of that!

Because, yeah. And heck, finding a good pair of boots that fit Mechas? You wouldn't be able to tell if the trousers were a bit short..

Sadly, the iplehouse heels in question do not fit the MA high heel feet. The ball of the foot is too wide and the foot is too long, even if the sling back strap was entirely unbuckled it wouldn't work.

 

Oh I see But thank you for telling this! Shoe hunt continues XD I even asked Soom if they'd consider making the high heel shoe parts in tawny resin but they said they have no plans... But I think I'll buy them in normal skin and try to blush them somehow to match the rest of the body. Then she'll have at least one pair of "shoes" that fit her for sure.

 

I wanted to join in the fun, I have bellatrix and Antares on order. They are on layaway so will take some time as im also paying off a soom Dia boy. I hope to find help with what clothes I can buy for them. I have noted about the dollmore glamour model pants for my boy!

I didnt know Bellatrix will come as a tawny! But im quite happy about that

Hee hee, yeah I saw that you had them both Dirili. How do you cope with clothes for Bellatrix?

Luckily I won't be having the clothing problem as I mostly sew myself, as long as I find some fabric and other supplies that would make it possible to carry out my plans.. I already have some idea of what kind of style my girl would have, but as I don't have dolls of this size home I can't really start making anything (but jewellery maybe) before she's home ^^; So there's no hurry.

I refuse to buy doll clothes so I make them all and she's still waiting in line.
Haven't had time since the holidays to do much sewing because I had some extra work come up that's been keeping me busy.

Hopefully I'll get to sew for her sometime in the next 2 weeks! But I think that's a bit optimistic.

 

woo! I'm now halfway through my layaway for Sabik! (I'm already getting impatient even though it'll be 2 more months before he's even paid for...)
I'm thinking he looks rather like Bowie in some respects (Actually the photo that is my avatar rather cemented that opinion - Sabik has Bowie's mouth!) so he may be getting a very Bowie-esque face-up

Anything dramatically different to other bjds about these guys that I need to know about? (I'm aware of the posing problems - but we'll see what he's like when he arrives I suppose)

 

Even my husband who tries to ignore the dolls as much as possible, remarked that I'd gotten "a David Bowie doll" when my Sabik came home.
He does have a bit of his look about him. ^___^ Probably why I'll never sell him. Long, thin, Duke for sure! *chuckle*

I'm very excited to join this discussion. I ordered my Sabik kit yesterday on layaway, so it will be a while. What settled it for me was seeing Mr. Have up close and personal. Thanks, candygears for letting me compare Mr. Have to my Bernard (your Saiph hybrid and Clean Slate are beautiful as well). This thread is super helpful. I've read through the every page and have answers to all my Sabik questions. I think I'min love all of your MAs. My wish list just got bigger.

 

Yay! That's so exciting tenukihandcrafts! It'll be awesome to have another Sabik in the area (I'm always glad to be a bad mecha-influence!)

It seems like there's gonna be a lot of new blood from the Xmas kits, so fun!

I fell in love with Sabik based on the Bowie similarity too - his cheek shape is so like Bowie!

That's great news idrisfynn! I bought Stille in hopes of doing the same thing for my Sabik. So relieved the NS is fairly close! I'd love to see pics of the resin and proportions too, when you get a chance. What year was your corvi made?

 

Thanks for the info~ I got mine back in 2009 or so before Soom's resin got reeeeeally pink. He actually matches my NS supia and NS Iple really, so he's kind of in between.

 

Just for the record - does hot-glue-sueding make a difference at all with the MA body's "notoriously bad posing"? Or should I be looking into wiring as well? I realize it'll be awhile before my Antares kit arrives and all, but it's good to make mental note of these things in advance, I think. ^^;

 

Sueding helps just about any doll with posing hehe, but only to a point.

 

Ooh, your IOS hybrid sounds intriguing St. James! Personally, the extreme skinniness of the Mecha Angel body is what drew me to it, but I could see others wanting a meatier option.

AceDelta, I have mine wired and glue sueded, and would definitely advise doing both. The sueding helps a bit, but the main issue in getting the body to stand is that the legs are sooo long and thin, and the upper torso is comparatively heavy. I have the thickest wire that would fit in mine...

candygears : XD That would make a wonderful headpiece, though! Seriously, I think it'd be interesting.

Oh wow, yeah, I can see how that'd be troublesome. Not to mention the length of the legs paired with the heavy torso would probably make finding that exact center of gravity to be a little tough. Do you know off-hand what gauge you used for wiring?

 

Woah, what's up with all mecha angel being suddenly sold out? Last week when I checked the soom website, they were still available. Is there a news that they will discontinue the current line-up or are they going to rerelease them in the future? I was hoping to grab a Sabik elf this summer but I fear that might not be possible.

 

MAs are sold out most of the time, outside of very limited time sales(I think it's usually only a week long?) events once every few months. They don't even seem to have a reliable schedule for that anymore either, going from some of what I'd read in-thread here.

It's part of why I had to jump on the Antares MA kit when it became available at Christmas.

 

Yeah, Mechas are only sold for a limited period time (5 days), and SHOULD be for sale every second month. But as AcesDelta said, they might not be reliable with the schedule.. Last year I think there was half a year or so between two ordering periods.

But the next time they're going to sell Mechas is on February. At least that's the answer I got when I asked. Still ended up ordering Bellatrix as a kit from the event since I didn't want to wait

 

I feel like I really scored with Christmas, though. Because buying a fully assembled Antares w/ faceup and a Jointed Hands Kit during the same ordering period to try to ensure a good resin match? Would be EXPENSIVE. .____.;;

 

The amount saved from ordering a kit instead of the assembled version tempted me too XD I didn't get a faceup though, but I still thought it was a great save. And I'm in high hopes that the kits would be shipped faster than assembled dolls... Even though Soom stated that the preparing time would be the same, but who knows.

I was totally suckered into getting a faceup because Antares' default faceup is beautiful. Well, to me anyway. XD;

I normally don't order dolls with faceups? But I make exceptions if a faceup really grabs me. Antares was one of them.

Having never ordered an x-mas kit from Soom before, though, I have to wonder what kind of "vinyl bag" the parts will be shipped in. Is it just a standard shipping bag like you can buy at the post-office/that courier packages sometimes come wrapped in? Or?

Antares' default faceup does look lovely indeed :3 I've never ordered a faceup for my dolls, at least yet, there has always been more or less something missing from what I'd wanted for my character so I've preferred to do the faceups myself. For Bellatrix I'll be going for a lot darker eye and lip makeup and for a bit pissed off expression XD We'll see how it'll work out, but I'm excited about my plans and hoping that she'll turn out the way I'm planning!

I've never ordered a X-mas kit either.. I do believe (or at least hope..) that the dolls are still shipped in a box of some sort, so that none of the parts break during the shipping, and that the vinyl bag is the bag they're packed in inside the box. Don't know really, but I hope that Soom won't ship them in a bag only without anything else.. That doesn't seem like a safe method @.@

I'm jumping in to say hello, and reading through this thread to get caught up! I have a Bellatrix, and I adore her. Poor thing is lacking clothes and shoes, so I'll be looking through all the posts to see what fits my girl, but thought I'd say hello. candygears, your Saiph is stunning! I've seen your "clean slate" incarnations over the last few years, and love your work, congrats on getting your Saiph put together!

 

I have a question: I've been looking at the various Sabik photos that are on DoA, you know, enjoying the virtual eye candy until my lad arrives. I found a pic where he was wearing something sleeveless and he had a cyborg-y arm. Is that standard issue? Was that a special or custom arm?

Just wondering if my boy will come home with a bionic arm, which would be awesome...

 

Sadly, that Sabik was one of Soom's first MDs, so no, it's not standard. Wouldn't that be awesome if it was?

That second photo is Luuuuv. I do so enjoy just staring at Yaret. He amazes me and captivates me. And wow, does he ever look good in that blue snow/background!

 

Totally seconding aernath; that second photo is amazing. He looks so lifelike there! Between the lighting and the blushing looking like his skin going a bit red from the cold..

 

Yeah, that second picture of Yaret is absolutely incredible! I want to take him inside and give him cocoa, he looks so cold!

My Saiph is finally complete & I finished her dress - she was sitting around naked for waay too long! I modeled this one on a favorite of mine by Alexander Mcqueen...

Does anyone know if Soom fantasy parts (hooves, bird feet, etc.) will fit on the Mecha Angel body. I have a Sabik coming and I would love for him to have hooves. Thanks!!

 

Just wanted to share a quick pic of my boy. ^.^ Sorry for the horrible photo, but I just finished blushing him to match his new IOS Class80 body and was too excited to wait until it's light out tomorrow. Will have to take better photos outside this weekend after I get his leather vambraces and pants done. Just glad to have him back together! So loving this new body though. I think he fits better on it than my Stille did. lol

Wow Cat! Your boy is so handsome with his hooves~ ^.^ I knew the MAs were close to the supergem proportions, but it never dawned on me that they could borrow fantasy parts from them. Will have to play around with some of the parts I have laying around here.

aernath, Marcus is so handsome, that's a terrific photo of him. And yes, my Sabik arrived today. I bought the kit version and have a BO photo shoot planned so I don't have any photos yet. Also, he also doesn't have any clothes because I didn't expect him for a couple of weeks. At this very moment, he's only wearing bubble wrap.
