General 21-30cm Blind Box BJD Discussion

Oct 6, 2023

    1. I am really liking the look for the BonBon Galaxy girls. Hopefully they will progress more!

      • x 1
    2. Thank you, @namika!
Man. I'm struggling. I really love this new 1/6 scale doll trend, but - that body type is not for me. I love the more mature mini look. I feel kinda guilty. I was totally planning to order them, but... Sigh. I think I'm going to pass.
I wish UFDoll would make more outfits for their little blind box dolls. I just love those to pieces.

Edited to add: aaaaand I want a KICO Urban Cat Girl instead. Maybe two. No longer feeling bad about not ordering the other dolls. The cat girl dolls are going to cost quite a bit more ($128 USD each). I'm in love.

    3. These are 1/12, not 1/6, right? They're 5-6 inches, not 10-12 inches. They go over in the 1/12 thread! They are definitely a different style to the usual chibi 1/12 though.

      • x 1
    4. Ooops! You're right.
I'll move these gals to the 1/12 section later.
      Can I delete a post?

      • x 1
    5. Haha don't worry about it! :D It's not the end of the world. I mentioned it more because more information on them/photo shares are likely to be over in the 1/12 thread.

    6. For anyone who was interested, it looks like the UF Doll x Autna CCTV series is going to be releasing in September or October, Kikagoods have them up for pre-order now!

      • x 1
    7. UFDoll is working on a new series that's apparently slightly bigger than the bunny series.

They're calling it 1/5 scale and there are already prototypes out for some of the dolls in the series. It's supposed to be released in August at an overseas exhibition.

    8. Video of the Lucky Doll 1/6 body. So, seems like it's basically like a resin BJD, just not made of resin?

I'm very tempted to get this Lucky Doll 1/6 series! Might ask Kikagoods about it later as apparently for my location, they will only accept email orders now...

Also, I found out that it seems like Lucky Doll are releasing this series in China as a crowdfunding thing, so it's not on Taobao. And they have listed Kikagoods as their official international distributor.

    9. Well, I cracked and ordered one of the UFDoll TV heads. I've never gotten a blind box doll before and never ordered through Kikagoods, so here's hoping it's a good experience! I love all of the possible dolls, but I'm really hoping I get the one in white.

    10. Has anyone seen anything more about this potential series from Bonbon Galaxy, I think it's called Cute Girl? Got to admit, the designs are quite cute, so the name is fitting! There are some photos on the KikaGoods FB page.

    11. This is Bonbon Galaxy’s Weibo Sina Visitor System
There is some photos of the body as well as a video there. They are really cute my only wish would be for inset eyes.

    12. @Feathered Shadows Oh, thank you for the link! I found the video they posted about the body of these dolls interesting - it looks as though they have a feature so if you turn the hooks one way, you can remove the hands and feet without having to worry about the string becoming loose.

That is a good feature, actually, kind of wish more BJDs had something like that.

    13. Edit: I posted this in the wrong thread, whaaatttt

    14. So I've begun to realize my spatial awareness is, like, really poor. I saw someone handling a Penny's Box Antu deer and was shocked by how big it is. I totally should have realized this, but all the dolls in this thread are like YoSD and fashion doll sized, huh? I've never handled one, so that's crazy to me! Could anyone post pics of their dolls with an object or hand for size comparison?

    15. Nobody's posted them yet, but they actually go in this thread over here! They're 19-19.8cm in height.

    16. Oh, sorry, to clarify: I'd like to see any dolls of the 21-30cm size ebcause I can't wrap my mind around how big they are!

    17. An excuse to take more pics of my girls? Yes please.
She is 29cm at the ear tips, for reference. :)

    19. And they still not available for shipping. I’m following this doll since October 2023 & wow it’s been a year almost & no dolls yet. I did order full set & waiting….

      • x 1
    20. Yeah, those have definitely taken a while! There's not been a peep of the other 1/6 series they had teased, as far as I know. I wonder if maybe they ran into a lot more production issues than expected?

    21. The lucky doll ones are so cute

I want the hidden zombie one so bad but she is currently $200 from the resellers who open boxes :...(

edit: I don't usually gamble on the 1/6 scale dolls due to the price, but I had a load of kikagoods points so it was $30 shipped which is more amenable to my sensibilities. Zombie plz!!!!! :eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray:eusa_pray

And I guess if I don't pull the zombie, I will at least have one to decide if I like the quality since i haven't gotten something from this maker before and if I want to keep an eye on the confirmed box sellers to see if the price fluctuates or anything.

    22. My UFDoll TV head has officially shipped, so excited!!

      • x 2
    23. Keep eyeballing both Ufdoll Tv head and Lucky Doll, but I really only want the heads for hybrid purposes...

      • x 1
    24. I've seen people sell other blind box dolls in parts once they've been released for a while, so keep an eye out in the coming months!

      • x 1
    25. I instantly fell in love with the Luckydoll Festival girls and received mine the other day. I was lucky enough to have discovered them recently and only had to wait a few months. Love the quality. Now my roommate wants one!

      • x 1
    26. Great to know that they are finally available and shipping! May I ask where you ordered yours from?

      • x 1
    27. I received my UFDoll TV Head last night! I'll share pictures later, but I got the 'Cooking Channel' one that's on the box! Her name is Choco and I love her. Might try to go for the 'Emotion Channel' one in white as well.

      • x 2
    28. I received my Luckydoll Festival girl today! I got the winter solistice one. She's cute and the body behaves fine, but the plastic feels odd to me. It's also somewhat shiny. And the plastic wig sits on her a bit loosely, not to the point where it's a problem, but it does bother me a bit. I don't plan to stick with the plastic wig though, I'm gonna give her proper hair. Maybe I'll try to take off the dragon horns even.
The eyes aren't very shiny either, the transparent plastic in the eye piece isn't great. I would put regular anime eyes into her, but there's a piece of plastic in the way. I might modify that as well.
I do like her, but there are some details that could be improved.
I will take pictures on the week-end.
Oh, and I ordered from Kikagoods.

      • x 2
    29. Congrats! Can I ask where you ordered from?

      • x 1
    30. Kikagoods, like I said;)

I have also ordred one on Aliexpress, but that one isn't here yet. I'm not even sure it has shipped since the tracking hasn't moved at all.

      • x 2
    31. Oh congrats! That is the one I am hoping to snag at some point, although I only want it for the head/hair. Bummer about the eyes. Like I get why the companies are trying to make it easier to stick eyes in for those with no previous bid experience, but if it limits the ability to use eyes outside the default ones, the design is going to be more a hindrance than a help.

I have seen a lot of people mentioning they are more excited to use other wigs on this line, but for me it's the anime style wigs that were the main draw. Who knows maybe it will make it easier for me to find split parts down the road. Really don't want to gamble on a blind box through Kikagoods, but for once AliExpress is noticeably more expensive.

      • x 1
    32. @Krissim Well, the plastic anime wig included with her does look nice, it's detailed and has no visible flaws. It's not completely smooth inside though, there's a bit that's a little bit raised because it's meant to fit into a groove inside the head. To make it stay on better. I think it could be modified easily if you wanted to use the wig on another doll. Also, the horns are detachable, they're not glued or anything.

      • x 1
    33. Nice to learn the horns are easy to pop off. I was wondering how much of a pain they would be to remove, because I plan to take them off when customizing. Having seen some owner photos popping up, I can see what you mean about the shininess. I wonder if a spritz of one of the matt sealants common in the bjd hobby would help tone that down?

    34. I got a blank Lucky Doll Xiangxiang. I'm located in New Zealand. She arrived on Wednesday last. I love the fact she's made of more durable plastic, it makes me feel less nervous if my kids touch her. She has fittings inside her head for eye chips I think? I'm not familiar with that sort of thing. I love her little hands. Her elbows and the way her arms sit feel strange to me, but aside from that she's amazing. And this chonky thighs! Brilliant.

    35. I got my Kico Urban Cat Girl black cat from Kikagoods. She is resin, and she has double-jointed elbows and knees. For a full set, she was less than $100, and I think she was a bargain. Now I want another one...
      Kico Urban Cat Girl

The magnets are sent not glued into the doll, but there are nice divots in the head cap and rear torso. Still deciding if I want to bother, cuz she's really cute as is.

    36. Alas, I did not pull my beloved zombie.

      [IMG]20240922_182200 by Kaxen6, on Flickr

She is pretty cute. Posing is pretty stable even with a heavy head which is nice. She feels more hefty than my other non-resin dolls.

Anime wig is a little loose. I think I might airbrush it or paint iridescence on it. Flat white is a little boring.

The eyes are the worst part. The frosty plastic lens looks so cheap.

    37. My Cat TV has finally arrived! Was so scared that maybe it was lost in shipping as it took so much longer to arrive than usual and the tracking didn't move for almost a week! And... of course I did end up with the one I wanted least... the only boy in the group... orz

The Cat TV doll is so much heavier and chonkier than the previous bunnies though.

      • x 3
    38. Congrats, though sorry you got your least liked doll! The black and red one, right? They're so hefty, I like their size a lot. My only thing to note is the magnet in the tail may come out against the magnet on the body, but if that happens...well, I just superglued mine back in, haha

      • x 1
    39. Yes, the red and black one. Now I'm tempted to try getting another one... orz

And thanks for the heads up!

      • x 1
    40. I got one of the cat tv head dolls as well - the one in the black overalls! I am finding the magnet in the back quite weak when I put the tail in - it constantly falls out. I really do love the size and weight of it though, and am finding myself so tempted to try to get another.

      • x 1
    41. I personally super-glued the magnets into the little divots, and I think that helped.

      • x 2
    42. @Captainnessbot Ooh, that is interesting and I may try it. I was meaning that the tail keeps falling out, but still good to know!

    43. I just bought a “Set of 2” TV Heads from KikaGoods! :D

I’ve been waiting to order them ever since they were first announced, so I’m really excited about this!

And even though they already come with such lovely outfits and screens for their TV Heads, I plan on customizing them! :XD:

      • x 1
    44. I have four of the basic and I just missed out on the hidden launch. I wanted it really bad. They also were selling blank bodies too.

      • x 1
    45. I have one of the BonBon Cute Girls on order, I did a group split to ensure I get Paradise Lost and I'm soooo excited, I know they don't ship for a while but I really hope the quality is good!!

      • x 1
    46. They look cool. I just hope the brand has learnt from the issues with their previous series. It’s nice to see more boys becoming available. I think snake boy looks epic.

    47. Another set of pictures of them here! Hopefully the company switched to a different factory for these runs.

I think they're cool AF, but simultaneously not for me at all. I'm not a fan of baby anime heads on long "realistic" bodies. I am genuinely glad the company is giving it another go though, after the fallout from 10,000 Escape Plans. The problems that line had were bad, but an even worse outcome would have been to have those problems and then the company just disappears forever and never tries again. So I hope this one goes well!

    48. Oh I looove these. I have some OB22 dolls, and these guys would be perfect to display with them!

    49. I got a set of the TV head dolls to distribute to my boyfriend + two friends a bit ago, and I'm in love with my girl ^_^ I had a lot of fun picking out stickers to decorate her with and made a couple 'screens' for her but this is the one I settled on as her default. I really really hope they made more blindbox dolls in this size, I LOVE it. Eventually I'd like to give her sparkly gold paws/nails on her human hands + feet.

    50. [Oops, wrong thread]

    51. The Bon Bon Galaxy dolls seem to be available now!

      • x 2
    52. My BonBon Pocket Fashionable Cute Girl doll arrived today! I’m so enamored with her! She’s the “Corrupted Heart” (red haired) doll. I really can’t emphasize how much I adore her! She captures that early ‘00s anime look perfectly! She especially reminds me of those anime pictures they used to use on those old “Nightcore” videos.

Now I don’t want to repaint her, because she’s way too cute! She also stands on her own like a champ, because of her large feet and chunky shoes!

Unlike my other dolls, she looks like she’s got the right proportions to share clothes with regular Western fashion dolls, so I don’t have to worry about making her an outfit by hand if I don’t want to! Yay!

I only wish that I was in a better financial position to buy more dolls from the same line right now… dental stuff and house repairs are draining any extra money I could have spent on the hobby… Oh well. Life happens I guess… I’m just grateful for the girl I already have! n_n

    53. Hey! Does anyone have any pics of the Ufdoll tv cats next to the Bonbon pocket girls? Both dolls got me back into BJDs and Im having a hard time picking one

    54. Really enjoying my UF Doll cat tv.
She just feels so substantial and is fun to pose. I've been contemplating buying the extra screens so that I can make a greenscreen to easily edit. I don't know if I can justify the shipping for that, though

    55. After an incredibly aggravating fight to get the little stinker dressed (the shoes and gloves are cute but nothing fits over them, lmao), my UFDoll cat.tv girl is all together. She's sooooo much bigger then I was expecting - I knew she was gonna be bigger then the rest of my hoard, but not almost msd-sized bigger!

I've decided her name is Mei. Partially because it means "bud" and she reminds me of visiting Japan during cherry blossom season. Partially because "mei" is short for "meiwaku" which means annoyance and given that it's been YEARS since I had this much trouble restringing a doll I think it fits.
