I came here to post exactly this! These do look cute. I have to say though, it does annoy me when a doll has animal ears AND human ears! Please just one or the other! My brain gets so stuck on how four ears - especially completely different configurations to each other - would work. Like surely the structural integrity of her skull is completely compromised because now it contains additional openings near the top meaning it's made outofsmallerplatesfurtherapartetcetc... The artwork does make it look like they are likely to be 1/12. I really hope the tail is the same material as the hair, I wasn't fond of the plush ears on Bonnie series 3 because it doesn't fit with the plastic hair and fur at all.
As always, Hermeow is better at providing us with info than Kikagoods. Here's their teaser post for Mitian Fantastic (or Fantasy?) Forest. Anyway, in summary: - it's a new series by Come4free who made the Bonnie series - Mitian will be on a new human body that's slightly taller than the Bonnie bodies, so confirmed to be 1/12? - it has inset eyes, a fluffy tail and magnetic ears - this series will feature different animals
Come4free means I'll consider overlooking anything I'm not as fond of! Their dolls are so cute and good!
I'm super excited to see what the other animals are! Crossing my fingers for a red panda because I would LOVE for that to exist.
I am hoping for some advice. I have...well...way too many of these little blind boxes. But I'm having trouble with being unable to get the heads off two of them (Peetsoon Male Classmates Heartbeat Valentine Limited Edition and Antu Dreamlike Teaparty DayDreams Good Morning, to be exact). On Good Morning, her hair is painted, and it's almost like....the paint wasn't dry when they put her together and it sealed her shut? I've considered prying her open with a knife, but I'm terrified of damaging the paint, especially since she's my only rare/hidden one. She comes with a sleeping faceplate, so I know her head is meant to be removable. On Heartbeat, his hair doesn't appear to be painted, but it's so tight, I can't pop it open. None of the others have this problem (my Bonnie Sweet Heart Party Taro Lily has the opposite problem: her front hair falls off). So....has anyone else had this problem? How did you resolve it? Thanks!
I don't have those problems with these particular dolls so far, however, when it's hard to open/change/switch parts on other types of dolls/figures and they are made out of PVC (any and all "vinyl" hardnesses), it makes it much easier if I leave them in hot water for a few minutes. That makes changing hands/feet on 1:6 action figures less of a pain in the gut hole. Most normal people use a hairdryer, but I loathe loud/obnoxious sounds, and I want to avoid torturing my cats with the annoyance of hearing those going off. So, I just use the hot water method, but heat in general for a few minutes or seconds, works really well for softening the plastic enough to make it become maleable. I thought the Penny's Box hair pieces were done in resin, because that's what the first dealer/reseller (I saw) listed the Tea Party series being, but ever since then I have read, they are made out of PVC, so it should work for them. Not sure what the Peetsoon hairpieces are made out of (I don't own any of them, yet so I haven't researched enough about them). A hot water bath shouldn't ruin the paintjob, but I can't say the hairdryer method wouldn't cause any damage, as it is direct heat on a painted plastic part. Whichever method you chose to try, I hope they help! (: Edit: Also, if you're confident and own an X-acto knife, those are also great for separating pieces that have become glued together due to poorly dried paintjobs, before assembly. With minimal to no damage, depending on how steady of a hand you got and the sharpness of the blade. Good luck, once again!
Hello, I find out recently about those dolls through Kikagoods add, and they are so cute ! I saw on kikagoods site that we can buy separate head back parts, to replace the hair parts with a wig, but my question is, are those parts compatible with any of the bjd sold in blind box ? One is specified for penny's box bjd, the other for yun lai food shop BJD... do you think either of them will match a Bonnie ?
Simontoys' Ninizee series is getting a 1/12 blind box BJD line. Also, AmiAmi, Hobby Link Japan and Hobby Search now sell some of the 1/12 blind box BJD series. They are listed as 'trading dolls'. They only sell them as complete sets though. But they are worth considering if you're looking to get a set and have other stuff you want to get from them?
So I tried the Penny's Box head back on the SimonToys and the Kokoya blind box BJDs, and it's definitely the sort of thing where you need to buy the brand's head back to match the doll. While the openings at the bottoms of the heads are somewhat similar and interchangeable, the head backs most definitely are not.
Thank you! I'll try the heat method on the boy when I get time. I tried the X-acto knife on the centaur and...um...I broke the knife.... and still didn't succeed. The tip is wedged in there now and I can't get it out. I may just have to accept that she'll never be able to use her other faceplate.
Oh no! I was also going to suggest applying heat to try and help flex things free. It sounds like it's really stuck together though.
That is too bad to hear! I hope you're able to separate your boys' plates. Hopefully, you'll be able to do something about your girl as well, I've never had trouble with things not separating with enough heat/submerging in hot water. But then again, I never had to pry open a piece as thick as a Penny's box hair part. Lol! Good luck, I hope something works for you, without damaging anything, anymore. (:
@CloakedSchemer Could you post a photo perhaps? It might help if we can see pictures, because maybe we'd be able to offer advice on leverage to prise them apart or how to otherwise fix the problem. I definitely think heat would be your best bet. @aldwen as @MaleficentMrsofEvil says, headbacks aren't cross-compatible from company to company. Sometimes they are similar enough that you can force it, but this isn't really recommended and you definitely shouldn't purchase a headback from one expecting it to fit another! Even the neck connectors aren't always cross-compatible. I couldn't use the Small Family neck connector with the Nagi head, for example. To make them compatible, you may have to start drilling/carving parts.
More teasers for the Mitian series! So far, it's confirmed that one is a cat (shown in the 1st teaser) and now another is a rabbit. There will be 6 regular dolls and 2 secret dolls.
Teasers for another blind box series in the works! Just concept art though. No info on the name, company or scale...
And first concept art for the Ninizee blind box BJD series. Looks like they might be animal themed as well?
And yet another animal-themed series has been announced! This time a collaboration between UFDoll x MM Doll. [Edit: typo...]
I'm loving all of these, but mannnn, those UFDoll 1/6 scale bunnies have got me addicted to 1/6 scale now. These little dolls are just too small. See y'all over in the 1/6 scale thread!
Teaser 3 for the Mitian series - a snow leopard! Edit: And prototypes for the new Nagi series. I'm only really interested in the 2 hidden dragon (?) boys this time. And according to Hermeow, the black dragon will have tanned skin like in the illustrations, it's just that they somehow didn't make the prototype in tan.
5th teaser for Mitian (the above should have been 4 not 3...) - a lamb. So far, we have a cat, a rabbit, a squirrel, a snow leopard and now a lamb. One more of the regulars to go, then the two secrets.
Can't wait for the preorder for the Nagi dolls on Kikagoods! Thinking of getting the box set for the higher chance of a rare cause those are my favorites, but I do like all of them!
Oh NO that's too cute!! God these keep getting me... I just got my dragon noodle boys home the other day, as well as my UFdoll girl (I split full sets of both with friends)... and a 10,000 Escape Plans girl incoming eventually... This is just bullying. Adorable bullying.
Welp, they're once again getting my money huh!!!! I see Penny's Box gearing up to ruin us with their deertaurs finally and bunnies too, teased on both Kikagoods and Hermeow. RIP our wallets.
Sixth Mitian character revealed - it's a fox! (though she seems to look very similar to the squirrel?) And that's all the regular characters.
And now comes the part where I have to decide which of these cuties will be joining my collection...! I think it'll be between the fox and the lamb for me, leaning towards the lamb.
Those new Nagi figures are so cute! I was thinking of buying a blind box before, blind or not, but I was never 100% happy with the existing figures. But hell, except for the headphone girl I love all of them! I can't decide which I'd like to have most at all
Been following this thread. My taste has change so I don't seek 1/8 and 1/12 bjds anymore, but the mermaids look tempting and curious about these pvc dolls, I finally caved in and got these three. (But opt not to get the Aiye series) I only like the painter from the Witch series (I find him really adorable) and don't really like the braided girl of Chuchu series (knowing my luck she is probably the one I'll get), so I opted for opened box. I like all of Penny's one so I don't mind whichever I get. Penny's one is gorgeous. I like the feel of the plastic, nice transparent tail, and surprisingly quite posable. Although the side fin fell off easily. The Chuchu is really floppy, could do a tightening, and perhaps thicker string too. The left fin has smaller ball than the right and looks fragile, hopefully it doesn't break easily. Upon closer inspection, there are few area where the snap off the gate wasn't clean enough, I wonder if I get a dupe/recast instead? Do these dolls have fakes? I want them to be my desk buddies but worry if they get yellowed easily. My work area has big window behind me, but no direct sunlight. Anyone know how these dolls hold against aging and light? Do they yellowed easily? Does the transparent part yellow or get faded easily? Oh also I wonder if I can use these figma doll stand for them? Something like this with C holder They are most likely the only tiny blind box bjds in the house. Penny's dragons are also interesting but I decided not to get them.
The Chuchus being floppy seem to be a common complaint. Anyway, I don't think there are any fakes of these dolls. Not that I've heard of at least.
ALL plastic oxidises/yellows with UV exposure. I can't guarantee anything, not least because they haven't been around long enough to do any time-testing, but considering they're made out of the same thing as console/remote control casings and stuff like that, they'll probably be fine for a good while. Especially with only indirect light. And yes, you can! I use that style of stand with mine., and found it to be the best kind.
Thanks for the info @namika, thats good to know. Thanks @nattherat yeah i shouldn't be too paranoid about aging. After all that's one reason I got them in the first place. And also thanks, about the stand. Gonna get a few of those.
Apparently the teaser for the last regular Mitian - a bear. But then that makes 7 regular dolls? The caption says 6 regulars... I'm confused! Maybe one of the designs they've previously teased is one of the two 'secret' dolls, but they haven't marked it as such?
I have one of the Come4Free bonnie dolls, could I in theory get a BJD head that's better for wigs and make some sort of hybrid BJD? c: I'm also curious what size clothing would fit them; someone said elsewhere that Obitsu 11inch would fit?
Prototype for the Mitian cat. Hmmm.... she's cute, but somehow after seeing this I'm a bit undecided about whether or not I like her enough to get her? I guess I'm not too fond of how her car ears are more a headband than actual cat ears?
I quite like the look of the 1/12 scale UFDolls, at least the ones in the preview images there. The Mitian cat is fairly cute, but I think I would prefer for the ears to not be on a headband? Idk, could think differently lately.
I've been away and out of the loop for a while - so many cuties have been shown!! Um, probably, in both cases! There's not really anything stopping you trying to put a different BJD's head onto the Bonnie body. Yes, they definitely fit things marked for Obitsu 11cm! Exceptions may be tight clothing, if your Bonnie is from series 2 onwards and has the animal body. Getting things over the feet in particular may be too difficult in those cases. Best options will be skirts and dresses with t-shirt length sleeves!
Concept art for the Ninizee 1/12 Blind Box BJD series by Simontoys: One, Two & Three Edit: And another new series announced - Weird Nightmare Special
Just splurged on 1/12 blind box dolls from KikaGoods earlier today! I bought 1 of each, so 4 dolls in total: Bonnie The Starry Night Chapter Pajamas Series Bonnie Season 2 Sweet Heart Party Series Teennar High School Student’s Club Series Teennar Campus Idol Series Looking forward to that big box being delivered to my doorstep! (KikaGoods tends to ship everything in one box, though that’s just my experience) I wonder which styles I’ll get? I didn’t look too closely at the possibilities before purchasing so this truly is going in blind!
@JoutasDolls Yay, it's always exciting to get them in a batch! I got my second batch just the other day, and I did actually originally write a not-so-glowing post to post here about them, because I was having a negative experience with them (Lucky Doll Mermaid Chuchu, Penny's Box dragon, AIYE mermaid), but I decided to go cool off instead of posting. I'm glad I did, because I do think they have issues, but I don't need to be that scathing about them. However, relatedly, after a struggle I can report back on two things: the Penny's Box dragon legs are removable with a bit of arm strength (they're not really intended to be though. They're a mechanical peg joint, not strung), and you can restring the tail to miss out the leg part if you don't like it, and it works fine. I'm actually liking my dragon as a winged naga, but I may still sculpt new legs for him. @namika Again, thank you for always posting news in this thread! I'm behind on updating the first post I think but I'll get to it later this week.
@nattherat This is the biggest order I’ve placed with KikaGoods so far! Today I’ve been looking up tutorials for crocheting doll clothes so that I can make them custom made outfits. Hopefully it’ll go more smoothly for me than trying to do amigurumi, which I never really got the hang of
Thank you! Is there a particular kind of head that would work with these bodies, or should I just go for it and see what fits? :O Mine has the bunny ears but not so much the animal body, that said I'll be careful with tight things! Much appreciated
That's an interesting tease; to take us into the "dreamy world of dolls". Am curious as to what they'll look like.
Concept art and prototype head for one of the dolls from the Street Sweet and Cool series by Chuz. Concept art for dolls 1 to 4 of the Weird Nightmare Special series by Nyssa: One & Two.
Ooooh, I love the Street Sweet and Cool one! That's exactly the kind of thing I want to see. I really dig smaller dolls with urban/streetwear aesthetics.
