    1. Yes, I mentioned this a while back.

    2. Finally got around to buying the full set of six Kuka Insect Cafe dolls. I really like the body style and outfits. They should be shipped by the end of January, I hope.

      • x 2
    3. @kurogane Congrats! Weirdly I just managed to do the same. Am hoping they do ship by end of Jan.

      • x 1
    4. @werepuppy congratulations! I like every thing about this series, the outfits, the faces, and the fact that the feet are so big and don’t need shoes. I found that interesting and funny as finding shoes has never been easy for any bjd dolls in my experience.

    5. Antu Mermaid & Mermaid Chuchu body swap!

I really like how the Mermaid Chuchu head looks on the Antu Mermaid body. (Now if only Kikagoods would hurry up and resume shipping to my region... orz)

    6. Those are kind of interesting, I would like to see them release blank customizable ones as well. I don't know that I like the clothes or styling choices that much. However, they are pretty cool looking, nonetheless.

I got my first Nagi doll, and was super lucky to get one of the boys! I am planning on getting the other two boys, I don't see PB's official seller on Amzn carrying these, so I'll probably have to go the Ali route, but I'll wait and see if a reputable seller on Amzn, gets them first (I know Amnz sellers also do fake copies, I just fear the struggle to get a refund a bit less than on more foreign to me, e-commerce websites).

I got Lanlan Lang, I think is his name or at least according to Kikagoods, but I got him from an Amzn seller.

    7. Congratulations! He's my favorite too! I decided to get a box set of them and I got all the common ones! I personally don't mind that though, since I wasn't really all that interested in the rare anyway and mainly cared about the fox boy, though I love all of them. I have to say they're nice to touch which makes them fun to stim with! All in all, they're really cute dolls and I can tell they might end up being my gateway drug to more blind box dolls!

    8. These little dolls are really cute. I now have a small collection. My Peetsoon boy just arrived so here is a photo of him with the other lines I have.

There is a Liroro, a Teenar and a series 2 Bonnie.

    9. I got a shipping notification for my Insect Cafe dolls! I’m looking forward to seeing them in person. They are all so cute!

      • x 2
    10. I am extremely excited to hear this! My order that includes one has been held up so long because of these, I hope that means I'll get a shipping invoice soon!

As an aside, we might be starting to reach a point where it isn't practical to keep a list going in the first post on this thread, there are so many lines now! I don't know what the character limit on posts are, but I wouldn't be surprised to hit it relatively soon. Unfortunately this is so far one of the most complete (possibly the actual most complete purely by accident?) "databases" on the web, since Dollect is very slow to update and is fashion-doll-focused and they're off-topic for here on DOA.
If anyone has any suggestions on where a permanent mega-list/database could reside, let me know and I'll change the first post into a link.

(the only one I can think of is fandom, formerly wikia, and my god is fandom nasty to navigate these days, covered in auto-play video ads)

      • x 3
    11. I think I have seen people suggest Wikidot since a lot of people have been wanting to migrate away from using Fandom as their wiki platform.

    12. An independent wiki could work too, and those kinds are generally preferred. I can tell you I really like to use the NIWA as a resource for Nintendo franchises for that reason.

    13. Unfortunately this requires hosting, which usually also involves costs.
I'm happy to help with databases, can't really commit to funding them though. :XD:

    14. Kikagoods put up a preorder for the new Aiye mermaids!

That pricepoint though! :aeyepop: A measly $19.99 for such gorgeous well-sculpted cuties, who even come with a whole little piece of furniture? Friendship with Penny's Box ended, Aiye is my new best friend! Trying to pick just one is going to be real hard.

      • x 1
    15. Wow $19 with the chair feels like a better value than the chuchu mermaids

    16. [IMG]

I liked most of the options for this blind box, but I'm so glad I got the Cat variant. She's so cute! And even though they're not on topic for most of DDE, I think the blind boxes on Kikagoods are going to be a bit of a problem in the future...especially with the size crossover for PKF. I also got two other outfits that should fit her and my PKF, which is super exciting.

      • x 1
    17. They seem to have adjusted the price? It says $25.39 for me.

      • x 1
    18. I see them listed as $19.99, on the three out of four different browsers I have installed on my PC.

They are super cute, I wish their mouths weren't sculpted open, I am not a fan of opened mouths on most doll/figures. Particularly heavy anime-ish-looking ones (I hate it so much on Sasuke Uchiha figures the most, but pretty much that's all I collect). If they just have painted opened mouths, I might consider getting one, they are adorable but the gaping open mouth, is a huge turn off for me.

      • x 1
    19. Strange... seems like I have to use incognito mode before the price shows up as $19.99 for me. Tried using a VPN for different locations and it still says $25.39...

      • x 1
    20. No VPN in Canada shows $19.99 (USD) for me. Is your currency maybe set to something else?

      • x 1
    21. It says $19.99 for me, but I have noticed when going through checkout for other things before that the numbers get all screwy, which is why I don't personally purchase from Kikagoods (shipment prices wildly fluctuate, their discount codes make the prices go up instead of down, etc). I think I read something on their Discord about how this is taxes being added, but the explanation wasn't remotely clear and it isn't well signposted on the website at all. I'm in the UK, for what it's worth, so I tend to go to sellers on Aliexpress instead where all the charges are clear to me.

I'm just excited about the price because I love what AIYE is giving us for such a low amount!

      • x 1
    22. That is kind of really weird. I have never purchased from Kikagoods either, but I read somewhere that they are the official Amzn Penny's Box dealer? I don't know if that is true, but it seems a lot less of a hassle to get mystery dolls from Amzn and also save on s/h sometimes, as well as not have to deal with pre-orders, or mystery fees/taxes later on. I am in the USA, and have no VPN set up, in case that actually matters when ordering from Kikagoods. (:

      • x 1
    23. I’m in the US and have ordered from Kikagoods and their Amazon store with no issues. In fact it’s been way too easy for placing orders. Now that the Nova Planet fox series is available for order, I’m really tempted to get them, especially the orange colored one. We shall see how long I can hold out, sigh. I still don’t like the feet though.

Well, when I discovered you could get just the fox you wanted, I did. I chose the orange colored one! Technically not a blind box, but worth it to get the one you want. I’m going to figure out a way to hybridize the feet so I can use shoes instead.

    24. It sounds like your browser's cache is still displaying a previous price for you - if you clear your cookies/cache, it should be up to date. Also probably the reason why incognito mode shows the discounted price

    25. Here is a picture of the Kukaka Insect Cafe Series dolls. I really like them and am happy to have gotten all six of them. Only minor complaint is they are quite a lot bigger than I was expecting and they are their own style, so they can't share with my other 1/12th sized dolls. I do need to make underwear as the skirts are quite short, lol.

    27. @RozenGermain ooooh, I didn’t even notice! Yes, I do believe I got a hidden one! Duh, I totally missed that. Humm, I did think her dress was really fancy compared to the others…now I’m even happier with them.

    28. So, the weird thing for the Aiye mermaids' price is that the price is still $25.39 for me even after I've cleared the browser cache on my phone and PC... it did somehow briefly show $19.99 for me on my PC when I refreshed the page but then quickly went back to $25.39.

Anyway, Kikagoods still hasn't added Hong Kong back as a shipping area (despite telling me a while back that they would 'soon'), so I can't order from their website for now... and their Amazon shop is region-locked for me.

The selection on their Aliexpress shop, which seems to still ship to Hong Kong (?), is so much smaller... but I might try to get some Chuchu Mermaids from it. (I guess I could try Taobao, it is possible for me to get a Taobao account but I tried it once and it didn't go so well...)

Actually, anyone have any recommendations for reliable and legit Aliexpress shops for blind box dolls? I really want the Hani Sweet Dreams dolls but the shops I've found so far all feel... iffy. They do have a score of over 95 but when you look at the 1 star reviews, there are a number of horror stories hidden there...

In other news, preview of the '10,000 Escape Plan' series. They are confirmed to be 1/12. Info from Hermeow.
And a video that gives you a better idea of the scale.

    29. I can't help with the Ali shops that sell legit mystery boxed dolls, sorry! I mainly just get doll hair for wigs, and tiny sewing notions from there, so far. I am kind of petrified of the thought of getting toys from there. However, I might have to if I want to get some of these specific dolls instead of any random one, since most are indeed mystery. I would also appreciate hearing legit store names, if anyone is willing to share, if not direct links as that might be something not allowed (it doesn't seem like posting links to ecommerce places is against the rules, but it might fall on a gray area we might not want to cross!).

Those Escape Plan girls are beautiful, I love their unique cartoony design; I wouldn't mind getting any of them, except for the nurse maybe. I'll probably just get one box, depending on their cost. I'm not trying not to hoard these, but I am also not trying to go for whole sets, or even half of them. I find all these new dolls coming up pretty hard to resist, so I don't want to exceed my spending if I can avoid it (s/h from Japan is still my main concern, since I do hoard a lot from there on a monthly basis *begrudgingly*).

    30. @namika @Enzyme I'll send you both DMs!

My last order of blind box BJDs, which actually still hasn't arrived yet, was from Taobao. I personally have found that I really don't save as much as I thought I would via Taobao. The figures themselves are cheaper, but the shipping and agent fees on top make them almost as expensive as Kikagoods or Aliexpress again. So I've decided that I might as well pay just £1 or £2 more per figure for the convenience of ordering from Aliexpress instead!

I absolutely love those new slim girls! I don't think they'd fit into my collection at all, but I really do like them. I think I'll just need to admire them from afar perhaps...

    31. And my dolls finally arrived! They took way longer overall, because I got one of the Insect Cafe dolls and that hung the whole thing up. Sorry to not do pictures, but I am going to drop a couple of thoughts! I purchased all of these from Taobao sellers that let you choose which one you want, because I'm not into the gambling aspect. Long post ahead, so I'll put it in a spoiler cut!

CYTOYS - Nagi Exchange Student Series
I got the mouse (white hair, pink eyes), Doudoushu. Mine has very misaligned paint on the face which is kind of an annoying obvious flaw, but not the end of the world. Hopefully I can find a non-destructive way to remove it. The body is mechanical-jointed, which I knew going in, but I was really hoping to hybrid the body onto an elastic-strung body, and sadly for me it turns out this isn't going to be possible! The face-plate isn't compatible with any neck adapter I own. I don't like mechanical jointed bodies for these dolls, but it seems I'm stuck with it! :sweat That's my preference though, not a flaw with the doll. The clothing fabric choices are ever so slightly cheap, but not at all unreasonable, he's very cute! Be warned that when you open the face up, the eyes will fall out immediately - that's not a criticism, I'm just pointing it out so nobody loses the eyes!

Aiye Mack - Colorful Brocade series
I got the dragon, Kung Fu Girl/CyanCloud. Clothes are great, excellent quality, and I love the cute dragon tail. The eyes do look as :aeyepop: IRL as they are in promos, and sadly they're thoroughly glued in so I can't easily do anything about them! Very floppy, but honestly, not many of these blind boxes aren't floppy in some way! I see it as a given that they all need hot-gluing. I'm a bit mixed on her due to the :aeyepop: expression, but it's not like I wasn't warned of that in the promo pictures! I think I just need to figure out some customisation I'd like to do on the face that lessens the impact a bit. If I was re-doing this order, I think I'd actually pass on this series and skip straight to the next dolls AIYE does!

COME4ARTS - Bonnie Season 2 Sweet Heart Party
I got Matcha Fufu. She's adorable, but she does have quite a big design flaw. The braids not only render her head almost completely immobile, the orange paint on them scratches off onto the body, because the braids are sculpted to sit almost directly against the rest of her skin? That's a shame for sure. I wish the braids had been jointed, the way that Nendoroids are or Bonnie series 1 jointed the ears. Which, I wish the ears were jointed too. Clothes were worse quality than I was expecting? Sorry, this seems weirdly complain-y, I just expected her to be the best of the batch that I bought, but she wasn't, in the end! I still liked her, but if I were to re-do this choice, I'd choose a Bonnie with short hair instead.

天堂制造 (Made in Heaven) Studio - Kukaka Insect Cafe Series
I got Lanlan (butterfly). Easily the stand-out in my order. She poses amazingly, all of the sculpting detail and all her painted detail and her eyes, they're all incredible. Her wings are awesome, and they kind of put the Antu wings to shame, because they stay really firmly in place. Jointed insect butt isn't a phrase I ever thought I'd say, but hers is a lot of fun. The printed dress does feel a bit cheap (and she was the most expensive figure out of this order), but... I'm not mad about it. When all the rest of her is so fun, and she also has other parts of the outfit that feel high quality like all the ruffles, I don't mind at all that the body of the dress is printed. She makes me sad that I have a policy of "only one per line allowed", she's that good.

Simon Toys - Liroro Summer Island
Lastly, I got Summer Paradise, the vaguely lamb-themed one. Her outfit is so light that I didn't realise just how many details it has from the official promo images, so I was surprised by how high quality it is IRL! The only printed aspect was pretend-lacing on her sleeves, and I'm not mad about it, given that the lacing would have to be at such a small scale. Otherwise she has numerous different textures on her outfit and it's really nice. She's very cute, poses well, and is a really really solid doll (solid to mean good quality). She's much more plain than the others I bought, so I don't have much to say about her, but that's not a reflection on her quality. Owning a number of this kind of doll now, I think she's on the great end of the spectrum.

And that's my little text reviews of the 5 dolls I got! Favourite was definitely Insect Cafe, what an original and well-executed line! That's the kind of thing I want to see out of these kinds of dolls. I don't want normal humans I could just get a nendoroid or obitsu for, I want these weird and wonderful ideas! Least favourite is probably Nagi, but that's not fair because it's down to personal preference over joint systems, so discarding Nagi, my least favourite was Colorful Brocade. The face sculpt is quite odd, and the doll needs work to actually hold any poses. I think AIYE's first foray was respectable, but the mermaids they've just brought out look 20x improved so I'm looking forward to getting one of them!

    32. First of all, congrats on the arrival of your dolls!
I'm just stopping by to let you know that it is actually fairly easy to pop the Nagi head on the Bonnie body. You just need to drill a tiny hole in the neck connector. I have done so myself (I also have the mouse boy) and the skin match is pretty decent.

      • x 2
    33. Yeah that's my next move, actual modification. I was just hoping to put it straight on without having to get out the dremel though.

      • x 2
    34. Uh, a little update for anybody wanting to do customisation on the Nagi dolls! Turns out their faces have a kind of film covering them (for the soft-touch finish?) that makes the plastic look and feel how it does. I tried to correct the really misaligned face paint on mine (he had two left cheek splodges? How.) with ABS-safe remover, and yes the ABS is safe, but it took the soft-touch coating off too. If you're going to wipe any part of their faces, you pretty much have to wipe the entire thing, or you'll have a patch of soft-touch vs non soft-touch, with obvious flakes at the edges. Bear in mind this also changes the skin colour too, they're lighter under the film.

I probably should have realised it'd do that, but at the same time, I wasn't going to put up with the paint defect being as bad as it was. Two left-cheek splodges maybe shouldn't have left the factory. :XD: I've left him with his patchy face for now, since I don't want to have to re-do the rest of the face-up.

    35. Kikagoods announced yet another new line, so I've relented and made a 1/8 thread! I think I remember there being at least 3 upcoming 1/8 lines so I figured I might as well. I might have it also include 1/10 if that happens, but I'll see how many of those get announced.
@namika you're always super on top of these things, could I ask you to do me a huge favour and post the 1/8 lines you know about in the new thread? :3nodding:

    36. Hmmm.... I think there are actually only 2 1/8 lines so far? Hani Sweet Dreamland and First Time Entering Campus.

Looks like Kikagoods' latest post is just an update on the teaser for First Time Entering Campus that they posted a while back!

    37. Haha oops, my bad then! I could have sworn there were three. But... perhaps there will be three soon enough! :sweat I kind of wish the 10,000 escape cats were 1/8 honestly!

    38. Well, there are so many announcements for new blind box dolls lately that it does get confusing! I thought the 10,000 Escape one would be 1/8 or 1/6!

In other news, Hermeow posted that there will be yet another new line of dolls! This time, it's a collaboration between Simontoys and a popular Chinese illustrator called 'Normal Puppy' (普通小狗). (That is the official English translation of their name according to their Weibo.) The teasers look soooo cute!! No other information yet though on scale or whether or not it's even a blind box series. Just that it's a BJD.

    39. I have collected multiple blind-box 1/12 BJDs, and I am going to bore you all with a long post comparing/contrasting what I've purchased so far.
      Pic for attention:

      I now own:
Penny's Box Antu Nature Wonderland (the series that started it all...)
Penny's Box Antu Dreamlike Tea Party + Daydream limited centaurs
Penny's Box Antu Tidal Secret Language Mermaids
      Simon Toys Teener Campus
Kokoya The Song of Flowers and Dreams
And as of today: LuckyDoll x SiO2 Mermaid ChuChu
Plus the new Hani Sweet Dreamland Large(r) size blind box BJD

Of the entire group, Penny's Box has the most cohesive collection. They have NAILED it. The heads and bodies are interchangeable - you can swap human legs for mermaid tails, centaur bodies, or dragon tails/legs. They sell a wig cap that you can use in place of plastic hair that fits snugly on the faceplate - size 4-5 wigs are a good, tight fit. The mermaids in particular come with gorgeous, translucent cards, but they all come with beautiful cards showing the character you received. Their outfits are nice, especially for the mermaids and the limited centaurs, whose outfits are achingly gorgeous and detailed.

All dolls: intricate, beautifully sewn clothing for TINY dolls. Even the Hani doll has a collar on the shirt - like, a button-down type collar. Incredibly affordable for what you get.

Kokoya does not come with cards, and they have continued their tradition (starting with their miniature figurines) of beautiful, but fragile. I got the pigtail doll as one of the three, and her pigtails are attached with the tiniest bit of plastic. One too-hard push, and I think they would snap right off. Kokoya bodies, however, are the most mature of the group, standing about a centimeter taller, and with more detailed, mature hands. Kokoya heads have inset eyes and are the lightest of the group. They also have magnets in their shoes, but they can stand unaided. Not including the larger Hani doll, Kokoya are the best posing and most stable of the group.
Edit: Kokoya's head tab is the largest of the group. I was able to swap Kokoya heads with the Simon Toys and Penny's Box bodies easily, and Penny's Box heads can fit on Kokoya bodies. Simon Toys heads did not fit well on Kokoya bodies and have a tendency to fall apart.

LuckyDollxSiO2 mermaids are probably the floppiest of the group, but their plastic is so nice, I had to look several times to check that it wasn't resin. They also have inset eyes and come with little cards. Their outfit consists solely of a little ribbon sewn onto a piece of elastic that fastens in the back with Velcro. The bodies, however, are blushed (which was shocking). And their hair is gorgeous - but heavy. These dolls struggle to hold any pose, really.

Being a hybrid freak that I am, you would think that Penny's Box would therefore be my favorite line. You would be forgiven for being wrong. ChuChu mermaids, while probably the worst posing of the bunch, feel the most like traditional BJDs. The hair is stunning. The plastic feels amazing in my hands. The colors are translucent but brilliant. Visually, they are absolutely stunning. I love them.

More pics in spoiler. None of the ChuChus yet - I'm still enjoying them.

    40. Oh. Emm. Gee. Guys. GUYS. Look at THIS.
It's the bottom half of a dragon (and horns) that you can slot an OB11 body into. :drool
Kikagoods is KILLING me. I love it so much.

    41. I couldn't agree more! My favourite part has to be the cute little hand claws.

I'm very scared it's going to be resin though, and as a result $100. It certainly looks like resin. I've said it before and I'll say it again; the price point on these is what appeals to me most! Maybe that seems a bit weird, especially here on a BJD forum, but my days of acquiring new resin are behind me.

I hope we find out more about it soon.

    42. I forgot to reply to this, but if these aren't the most stinkin' cute little gals I've ever seen. I adore the bottom middle; not only am I a sucker for that general aesthetic, but - by complete coincidence I'm sure - she actually looks like almost any British kid in the 90s and early 2000s, especially with the heart t-shirt, sneakers (trainers, as we call them!) and lace socks, and it's adorable. I really hope these will be in a scale I'd like!

    43. I picked up one of the PBB mermaids and tried out my Bonbon Galaxy head on it-

      link
As you can see, it's a good fit! You have to use the whole head as the pieces between the two companies are not compatible but it looks like PBB & BBG heads & bodies can be swapped :celebrate

And for fun, I tried a few BJD heads, a Withdoll BWD 1/8 head and 1/6 sleep Eidolon head. As you can see, the head and neck hole on the 1/8 is already too large so the 1/6 head is ridiculous!

    45. I'd be inclined to say these are more likely to be 1/6 but the art for the Antu mermaids was also "mature"!

EDIT: Kikagoods showed the outfit WIPs and I'm totally wrong haha, I'm certain these are 1/12! Most of the details are ribbons due to the tiny size, so 1/12 I'd think.

    46. Kikagoods posted more teasers for the Kico Cat Girlfriend series. I think this might be the first blind box series to come with fibre wigs? And they seem to look very much like resin dolls?

    47. I ordered 3 of those. It’s my 1st time ever to buy dolls smaller than 1/4 & not resin… I’m very confused what is Penny box what is not. So I ordered bunch of rendoms in different boxes…. Coz I have no any experience with those 1/6 & 1/12 dolls they just so darn cute. And Kikagoods makes such a detailed videos of every seria of blind boxes they sell. So Just couldn’t help myself… and awaiting 17 dolls….

Is there any list of what dolls is in Penny Boxes? And what is Simontoys, Bonnie & others blind boxes? They are not Penny box? Or Penny box it’s just general name for all close boxed dolls?

    49. Totally understand the confusion. I think folks on the website formerly known as Twitter, or Taobao, are able to follow all of these brands more closely.
Simon Toys blind box BJDs for sale on Kikagoods here.
Penny's Box (the company that started this craze) toys on Kikagoods here.
Come4Arts makes the "Bonnie" line of 1/12 plastic BJDs, available on Kikagoods here.
CyToys makes the HANI Sweet Dreamland 1/8 plastic BJD and the 1/12 plastic BJDs Nagi Cub Kindergarten and Nagi Exchange Student.

They're different brands (like Barbie and Rainbow High), and it's important to track which brands are which if you plan on doing any hybrids, because some work better than others.
      Hope this helps!

    50. Check the very first post of this thread! I spend a lot of time maintaining and formatting that list, so I like to see it go to good use. :XD: It lists manufacturers and series, including how many dolls are in each series.

    51. Thank you :) I searched on forum specifically for simontoys” & search brought me to this thread. But skipped 1st page for some reason.
Is Simon toys also have string inside? I ordered one from Temu it probably will be here this week or next but I can’t wait lol. I’m surprised that Temu even got those dolls coz everything seems to be brandless/boxless there but shipping is so fast & price was like &10 for my 1st 1/12 bjd

    52. Yes, most of the dolls on the first post are strung. Notable exceptions are the first Nagi series by CYTOYS, but I think everything else on the list is strung!

I'd be very cautious about ordering from Temu, I hope you aren't sold anything dodgy! Hopefully what comes through is correct and complete!

    55. Oh no I hate how cute these are!
I'm going to resist and pass on them I think, because I can tell there's no way they'd fit with the rest of my 1/12 collection, but it's a bittersweet pass.
