General 10-20cm Blind Box BJD Discussion

I went back to see the concept drawings and they seem to be part of the combo. But I guess we'll only know once they are up for orders.

 

You're right! Since the concepts are included there's very high chance the dolls will also come with the dresses. I had answered based only on the listings i had seen of her, but sellers usually put them up for sale way before the makers finished making them, so this could be why they had no dresses.

Damn, I was only gonna get the pink Penny's Box mermaid since I'm not that into mermaids but was wanting one for funsies/to see the engineering, but the dress on the red one is so gorgeous that I kinda wanna get both the red and the pink ones.... XD

BTW what is DOA that's being mentioned in OP's thread post and i didn't know there are banned Blind Box BJDs? Is that what it means? How do I find out which company that makes Blind Box BJD is banned?

 

Ooh thanks for letting me know! I'm glad kikagoods pays attention to those things, makes me feel safe about discussing anything sold there. I just googled Maytree and i found i had actually seen dolls by them before, on another website, and i'm glad now I didn't buy!
And thank you about Liroro!! ♥ Can't wait to see who it is gonna be, maybe I'll order a few more after her (but now i want to put money aside for a resin BJD, which is so hard to choose because there are SO MANY options!)

The eyes are movable/adjustable and the hair piece is a plastic wig that you just plop on top of the head. The ears are part of the wig though... the head has no ears!

They look like they've seen terrible things

 

They kinda look like they tried to imitate the Antu faces but uh, missed the mark. I might spring for one because they're kinda cute and the expressions are funny, but a whole set like that would get old fast, especially since this particular group doesn't stand out much otherwise. Something more exciting than "cute girls in cute party dresses" would be more interesting considering other brands have already brought us that.

 

Kokoya have been making mystery figures for quite a while, way longer than Penny's Box had the Dollzone's Antu collab or were making dolls. These dolls of theirs (Kokoya) look exactly like their mystery figures, as nattherat mentioned above. Which I have always been tempted by, but I prefer male figures of any kind. Since they are making dolls now, I might have to get at least one. I love the eyes on their figures a bit more, they have a lot more detail in the irises (like stars, and moons if I'm not making stuf up). I hope the eyes on these dolls can be repositioned, as they do look a bit wonky in these initial promos, but if they can be repositioned that'll probably solve the issue once they are released. (:

 

Concept art for Hani Sweet Dreams. They seem to look very similar to the Nagi series? (Is it the same company?) But looks like they will be bigger as they are described as 1/8?

 

Yes they do look like Nagi! Is it the same company or they used the same color palettes as the Nagi? I still want to buy a Nagi ♥

 

I didn't know they were so big! Certainly will take some space! They're cute but since i already want some of the Nagi series, I don't think i'm gonna get one of these. I'll wait to see when they are produced

 

I have a couple of their static figures and love them a lot. I think I might get one of the dolls, too.

Have a question for you people here since I couldn't find a place to post it- Does anyone know if it's possible to change the hair of a Yun Lai Food Shop doll into like, a real wig? Been wanting to try some accessories on mine that would need one, but the back of her head is the hair itself...

I don't have a Yun Lai, but I found this video! In the first section she shows an extra wig kikagoods sent her and at around 4:40 she shows the doll without the original wig and talks about them (maybe it starts a bit before, but definitely after 4:00)

So the doll basically have a half head, so if you're thinking about adding actual BJD wigs with strands, with her as is gonna be difficult, HOWEVER, i've seen some back heads sold separately for some of those blind box BJDs, i think liroro has it somewhere, maybe Ali? So it might be possible to find something for Yun Lai, that will make her have a round bald head so you can add a soft hair wig

They are really cute, but I'm also 'but they don't have inset eyes' and I should stick to my rule! (though might be breaking it to get at least one of the Penny's Box mermaids! )

Edit: Also just noticed that they are all supposed to be foxes but they don't have tails...

 

Well, foxes are a weakness for me and rabbits, so ugh, maybe I’m doomed. I don’t like the feet at all. Too big and odd looking. The heads are so cute. I hope that when they are released I won’t like them, ha ha.

So they are indeed by the same company that made the Nagi series! Wan Le Xun Chao (玩乐寻潮) is the Chinese name for Cy-Toys. The Hani series will have 4 regular dolls plus 2 hidden and are slated for release in spring next year. And sounds like they might a full head under their plastic hair, so you can put wigs on them?

 

i just want the girls! When they release maybe we can buy and if it's a boy you keep and if it's a girl i keep (of course the winner will pay for the doll they get to keep) -- or... There's ali too, there usually you can choose which you want!

 

I'll probably will wait until I can get the "boys" only, even if I have to pay more. Don't know if I'll ever be comfortable with getting toys from Ali, but that is an option too! (:

 

I am super excited by this release! I've been waiting on these! I like the Antu PBB mermaids but these just appeal to me so much more, with more lively faces and bright colors. So these won my choice. I can't wait to see which ones I got! One of my rules for myself with blind box is that I have to be at least somewhat pleased with even the ones I like least, so I won't get one and be sad it's one I dislike. I would be happy to have any of the Chuchu mermaids!

I didn't like them much before, but after seeing them now i want at least 2 of them!

 

Why? They're legit. I bought a few and they came in perfect conditions.

 

Way beyond the legitimacy issues, I have read a lot of other issues when people purchase things from there. I have purchased doll wig hair, because of the nature of synthetic fiber and it's inexpensive enough that I don't have to lose any sleep if anything goes wrong. It just seems more stressful to me, wondering if I will be getting what I paid for, or a nasty surprise. I am a weirdo, and a germaphobe, so maybe that's all. (:

Anyway, I'd wanted to order some mermaids but Kikagoods has apparently temporarily suspended shipping to my region (Hong Kong) as they're negotiating a new contract with their shipping partner... I emailed them about it as my address was suddenly no longer valid on their site. They have assured me that it's only a temporary suspension and offered to let me make an order through email, but I think I'll wait till they fix the whole shipping thing first.

 

What company is making them? I wanna check to see what their other dolls look like

 

Oh i understand, i used to feel scared of not getting what i paid for too, but after buying a few things I'm more confident now. As long as you check product reviews with pictures, and they look like the promos, and many people already bought the product you're safe. Also check for store rate. There's a really good store that i purchased a 6x Antu centaur 1st gen box and 2x teennar with the pink school uniforms it came perfectly, this store was recommended to me at the kikagoods discord by several people who had bought there previously. If you want I can send you. I messaged them about the Liroro hairs and they told me they have them, they're very responsive, sometimes even answer on weekends.
