He can stay like this without my help but as you can see leans forward and the ankles and knees don't bend more than that so his butt isn't directly resting on top of his legs and you'll have to turn the toes sideways when seated on an even surface. The lack of ankle mobility is actually one thing I don't love about this body but then again it also means his ankles don't suddenly decide to plop the whole doll over.

He holds poses in general really well and doesn't fight against you and for me most importantly can touch his own face and stand without any support rather easily. With a little balancing I even got him to stand legs crossed and even with just one leg(!) Never managed that before with any of my dolls, at least not as fast and easily.

What I actually hopped here to say though is that my tan Nymph shipped today Probably a week or three and she'll be here! Time to start prepping yarn for her wig and think about how exactly I'm going to make her clothes, the fabric has been gotten already, I'll just have to decide how to use the colors and what kind of style in general and then get her exact measurements for it.

 

The 1/4 scale mermaid is not quite 1/4 scale when fully stretched out! My Gem of Doll Coraline (tail requested to be made koi-colored) just arrived today. Wig and eyes temporary.

 

My Carlos is here! He’s absolutely gorgeous! I’m horrible at taking photos but maybe if I find the time I’ll post some more pictures Also got his extra arm and human legs but I love his hooves some much, I might not use them





Spent some time fiddling with his ears, horns, and tail tho as they kept falling off because of the weak magnets might try to get new ones

 

I received mine too last week. For the horns: I did receive two extra magnets and it helped a lot to put those on the horns magnetes. (so that you have 2 magnets on each horn) It helped the horns reaching into the head magnets better.

Are your magnets inserted at different levels too? My left horn sits quite lower than the right one

Messy hair is on purpose, I wanted it to look like she just woke up.

She surprised me and came with extra (normal) hands and feet - which is awesome since the default ones both had very long nails (and the feet were for healed shoes) and the character I'll make this doll into is more of a dirt digger type than fancy manicure type so for a second I was thinking that damn, I'll have to buy new feet and hands for her and pray the color isn't too different, then noticed the extra box containing both and relief washed over me (awesome from Gem of Doll to include them since I didn't realize that she has special hands and feet and I would have been pretty annoyed with them.)

I was pretty worried about the skin color since before she shipped they sent me a video to show that she had been made already and she looked pretty damn orange in it so I was really worried about the color. In the end it's slightly darker than I thought it would be, but it's a pretty color and I actually really like it.

 

Popping in to say that I just bought a Taurus Carlos through Alice’s Collections~ He is my first doll from Gem of Doll, so I’m eager to see him.

I was so enamored by the beast version because his design looks kind of Mesopotamian which is relevant to a story I’m writing, but I only saw his human version listed on Alice’s. Thankfully, they added the listing for the beast version back after I emailed them ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ

 

Help I'm in danger, they just posted teasers of two new dolls at their weibo. I see that cute tongue expression and I already know I will need Tazz.

 

I love that they're trying such a different style than their usual!

 

Hey all! I'm looking at getting the 45cm 1/4 grace girl body for a DIM hybrid, since I think I want my Larina to be a tall girl

Says it's offered in both Normal Pink and Mia Pink on Alice - anybody have any idea what either of those look like? Trying to figure which is a better match for DIM NS.

Gem are quite good at replying on facebook. I asked them last night about their green resin which they'll do on request apparently. Which is great because it's a decent match for doll chateau's green. Not sure dc heads will fit the bodies without mods though. I'll have to get my girl down and check.
But if it works that'd be a nice option for a less skeletal body.

 

Thanks for the info!!! Turns out I didn't even have to message them because I found a resin sample photo that includes all the basic colours. I'll post it here in case it helps someone else!

I'm thinking mia will be a good match for DIM since normal pink looks the right colour pink but a bit too dark.

 

I'm also thinking Tazz will be perfect for a character of mine, but the gem doll boy msd body isn't childish enough for me. I'll prolly put him on a DF-H body or something.

Gem of Doll's Ann sculpt has REALLY caught my eye lately... but im kind of torn... I usually prefer 1/6 size dolls, so she'd be bigger than what I'm used to and I really didn't like the last large doll I had. That and I love her rock star face up and full set but idk if i have a character idea for her at all, so even if i got her blank idk what i'd wanna do with her. I'd really love a doll i could dress in cute frilly dresses and that wouldn't fit very well with her style. Altho i do like her style.... i am so conflicted... has anyone else bought ann?

 

Also... is gem of doll's resin very prone to yellowing?

 

So far I haven't seen much yellowing for my dolls, at least for my white-skintoned dolls. Lumi (gem's abner) is one example, and as far as i can tell he looks about the same since his arrival back in 2022. Maybe the tiniest bit of mellowing, but overall it really isn't that noticeable in my eyes.

 

I also have an Abner, in their Pink, and I'm sure he's mellowed but he doesn't look yellow at all, to my eye.
I have a Gaia in Tan and she is also pretty much the same color as far as I can tell. They're both about three years old.

 

I am very excited for more reasonably priced and hopefully slightly smaller jointed 1/4 hands like these.

 

I was excited to see the new hands too, might buy 2 pairs for my duo although I actually like their default hands too but I've wanted jointed ones for a while.

At the moment I'm keeping an eye on them since I noticed this centaur concept art on their weibo and if he's MSD size and has a pretty face and doesn't cost like $500+ I seriously might have to buy him.

I hope they'll reveal the actual doll design soon because I'm really curious to see it, their dolls have been killing me lately by their cuteness (Wall, Polax, Castor, Tazz, Beaz, Adelise, Luna...) and it's been hard to not make any impulse purchases but if I really like their centaur I'm throwing that thinking to trash for a moment and just getting it.

 

agreed, Gem really has been sweeping me off my feet lately with every new release xD. So far they're the only brand that has me buying one of their dolls yearly, lol. This year's pick ended up being Luna, and I would've picked up Adelise too if my finances weren't so tight. And now they're gonna release their own jointed hands as well?? Wild. If their mia pink ends up as a close match for my myou girl in pink, those are gonna be added to my wishlist for sure. Definitely not a purchase for right now, but eventually down the line, haha

Those jointed hands... I went to look at them yesterday and ended up going to bed having placed an order for a mousse white Tazz fullset as well as a pair of those hands! It couldn't be helped, love at first sight.
I'll be sure to share pics of those hands! I remember back in the day when it was only very large dollies getting articulated fingers. I'm eager to see how they're put together.

 

My Gem Luna is home~! No name for her yet, but I'm sure she'll tell it to me once she's all settled in. Wig is also temporary as I plan to have her be a dark brunette. Also paired with Faline, her new (twin) sister!

 

So there'll be two centaurs and the first actual doll image of the girl one has been posted here. the only thing I don't love are those tiny wings at the hooves so I'm hoping they're some sort of accessory you can take off. Wish the horse body was more visible too since I'd like to see how exactly it looks like but I guess we'll be getting more pictures soon and pictures of the boy version too which is the main personal interest for me.

 

So, so, SO excited for this release! Do we know if they are 1/4 or 1/3 yet?

I'm hoping 1/4, her left hand looks like the left hand on their new Grace 1/4 body where the ring finger is bent the lowest of all the fingers.

 

Oh wow, the centaurs are pretty exciting. I love how fantastical Gem is getting lately.

 

My wallet is shaking in fear, the boy centaur is gorgeous too please don't cost too much and please be 1/4 size doll....

Gem posted naked picture of the girl centaur and I'm confused, why is there censor dot between the front legs? They didn't put the lady bits on it there right? It looks like the little wings are also part of the hooves so that's a bit disappointing and it's a lot skinnier than I thought it would be but I think that overall it's quite pretty centaur. Now I'm even more curious to see how the boy one looks like. (And I will scream and cry if he has genitals between the front legs )

There was a post on their weibo saying they'll be posted on their site on the 28th so a couple more days and then we'll know their sizes and prices

 

I suspect the censor dot isn't because there's anything there but more because AI things freak out about anything they deem to be "that region" so it's probably to prevent auto mod takedowns.

I'm really eager to see the boy's face sculpt blank because he looks substantially more mature than their usual boys.

 

There's also a new video of both (I think they're the same size? Not completely sure since the girl is laying down in the shot they're together at) and here's the post with event announcement + the dates, though the video post says they'll be released in the 30th instead of 28th? But either way it's soon.

The boy one, Caul, has magnetic ears you can remove if you want to put the helmet (sold separately) on, I think that's neat but also limits the helmet to only be usable on him since I suspect any ears would be too much.

These two are gorgeous but in the end not for me. I'm still hopeful somebody here will jump to buying one of them and posting lots of pictures so I can later regret my decision. I do hope they'll make more centaurs in the future though since there certainly aren't too many of them.

I'm very excited for this release, should be preordering her in October; nude with a faceup. I've been collecting their zodiac series but passed on Sagittarius due to her being 1/3 scale. This will be the perfect replacement~ ╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

 

I love Caul's face and the black horse body he's available with. But I don't collect centaur dolls because the horse part never looks right to me, and I just don't have the space to display them either. Looking forward to seeing photos of from anyone who does order one!

 

Caul is tempting me so badly... but really the thing I love most about him is his face. I doubt it's enough to motivate me to spend so much, but I'll be doing some serious thinking about it...

 

I just want his head. I was thinking about seeing if they would sell the head by itself or at least with the human body.

Does Gem of Doll not offer tan anymore? I also saw one of the Milo dolls in green. Do you think it would be possible to email them asking for a doll in one of those colors?

Pisces arrived this morning~

I don't have her outfit yet because the fullset was sold out when I ordered her but I managed to order it separately later. Kind of silly how that worked out. But I used some sequins to display her for now. She's my first close-eye doll, I love her a lot more than I thought I would.

 

Gem’s faceups are always so perfect! They are beautiful

 

I love fantasy feet for dolls so the paws are very very tempting.

 

Thoughts on Gem's engineering and the dolls' ability to stand? I've been looking for anthro canids in 1/4 scale for awhile, and Orion should scratch that itch, but the weird placement of his ankle has me concerned about stability. Not sure why they did it that way versus the ankle jointing Belinda has.

 

I don't have a 1/4, I have a 1/6, but I'm pretty happy with her stability. I don't know that she has the strongest ankles in the world, but I think they're actually the best of the three dolls that I have. I've gotten her to balance on one leg a few times. Hope this helps!

 

I have one 1/4 doll from Gem, Carlos Tauros. He has cow hooves. He's really well engineered and can stand on one hoof, and is SOLID when I stand him upright.

I had similar concerns about Orion but more concerned with the aesthetics rather than stability. Digitigrade animals don't work like that! He's essentially got a second second ankle. Here's a comparison with a fox skeleton I did.



I guess you could take off the last part of the leg or replace the paws, but it really bothers me too. I like the look of Belinda's body, but not crazy about her face. I am still thinking about getting her and sticking my minifee Ciel Therian on her tho... Also Gem's clothes and having a doll that can fit into them would be worth the hybrid.

 

Glad I'm not the only one who was googling anatomy (wolf skeletons, in my case) and going '...huh. I KNEW that didn't look right...' But I guess if it's fantasy his legs can arguably have two ankles. A wizard did it.

Still debating over him, myself. My gut instinct last night was 'no, wait for DV to make some sort of canine', because I'm also a little iffy on the stylization of his head...and yet I keep wandering back to waffling.

 

Haha same. I'm also not a big fan of his head... yet I keep looking at him and Belinda. I love DV's anthros, but if you're looking for any sort of stockier canine it may be better to go with this dude and mod/replace the paws. We both know that their bodies are skinny legends lol!

Really wish Dollzone/Reduce's feather fox head was slightly smaller so I stick it on one of their bodies, but I think it'd be too bobble-headed. But I guess I'll wander over to the thread to ask...

 

DV is truly in a league of their own. My favorite fantasy sculpts in my collection for sure, they really capture structure and details so well. I'm excited to see GEM trying new things though.

 

Could you not just fuse the second ankle? I mean, looking at the skeleton that bone is fairly long so if you glued the paw piece to the rest of that leg you would remove that second ankle right?
I wonder if they did it because he couldn't stand so well with that joint fused.

I wonder if they'd let you just buy the feet. I'm curious if they'd fit any other body and how they might look. Because I like the sculpting of his feet but his strangely engineered legs are... odd. But I prefer his paws to the girl paws.
so hmmmm.

 

After a lot more staring him, I'm thinking of leg/foot sculpting as him just having very elongated toes, with the fluff with the joint being the heel. (And even if the jointing's weird, I will say that the actual paw sculpting is nice. Why are paws so hard to find?)

Also: what's Gem's average wait time, right now? Skimming the waiting room it looks on the shorter end, but I know stuff changes over time.

 

It's been shorter this past year than the last couple years. Maybe a month to 3 depending on the order.

 

I asked Gem if they would be willing to sell Caul on a human body, and they were! I wasn't planning on another doll so soon but I fell in love with his face ahhh
