Lost/Damaged Fullset came with Aliexpress wig?

    1. I feel very confused right now and just need other opinions. Hope this is the right section.

      I ordered a Yuyuko Manga Series from Aimerai through AC. The wig looks like a different colour to me and is too big. I thought maybe my monitor skewed the colour while the sizing was just a bummer. But then:

      Googling MiuCat took me to an Aliexpress store that sold this exact wig (not in Yuyuko's size, surprise). Is this normal? Is this worth bringing up to AC? Should I just bite the bullet and buy a new wig elsewhere? Am I crazy? :?

    2. I think it's not unheard of for brands to source their wigs elsewhere as opposed to manufacturing them themselves. But if it doesn't fit that's obviously a problem. I don't think this would be a problem if it fit, I have multiple MiuCat wigs and I like them (much like most BJD things on Aliexpress the original source is Taobao). The color looks the same on my monitor, honestly. But since it doesn't fit...

    3. If it's much too big, like too big to fit even with a silicone cap on the doll's head underneath the wig, you could write to Alice's collections about it and include a photo of it not working so they can talk to the company about it for you.

    4. Things like wigs, eyes and shoes are usually outsourced and bought from bigger retailers. Some opt for own tags, to keep up the illusion it was made in-house, some don't.
      That's also why one often finds the same glass eyes across several companies. Hell, Good Smile Company sells cheap Taobao glass eyes in their Harmonia Line for 4000 yen! :sweat

      So it's probably the correct wig that belongs to this full-set, AC didn't swap it nor did Aimerai probably make a mistake. But the bad fit is an issue, especially if it's really way too big.

      Yeah, it's mostly the fit as the wig itself is a fine wig! I actually started following MiuCat. Glad to hear this sort of thing isn't unheard of though. Felt like a prank.

      Currently, not sure if a wig cap will help or not as I don't have any big enough for Yuyuko. I'll give it a shot The issue is that the bangs cover half the face when the wig is on 'properly'. If I pull it back to unveil the eyes, it usually pops off.

      I see, I see. I'm a bit surprised they would opt for this wig since it doesn't come in Yuyuko's size (according to MiuCat) and the colour seems so different. Hopefully a Yuyuko-sized cap fixes the issue.

      Very long blunt bangs seem to be a thing. I believe they are designed that way on purpose so the bangs can be trimmed to the right length for the individual doll. I've definitely had to cut some with bangs that were to long to sweep to the side and came down to the bottom of my doll's nose. For a temporary -or not so temporary- fix for wigs that are just a tiny bit too big and slide-y I have made a hardcap wig base on that specific doll and then used it as a wig cap. Good luck with any future projects!
