Frappzilla Dandelion Moons (1/4 line)

They're working on packing Deep, Lilac is next. I'm going explode with anticipation. So close, yet so far!

My Alula is Lilac, I understand this flop.

 

I managed to snag a mint vega too... of course I feel guilty because now I owe a bunch of money to the joint account but maaaaan, she's gonna be gorgeous.
Now I wait for them to sort through the deeps and send my two my way. I'm excited, but also nervous.

 

I got Mint Lyra and Medium Lupi. My Lyra is going to have a kidcore aesthetic (considering them to a "galaxy traveller" or something), and they'll be called Kris (name inspired by Kris from Deltarune). My Lupi I'm not sure of their name, but they're gonna be a vegan wolf who lives in a forest that my Polaris (which I'm getting a head of and will be working on) will be an in-training guardian sprite of.

 

My Alula's name is Charlotte, she goes by Charlie. She's a little witch that was trying to fix a curse and it backfired onto her instead. So she ran away to live in the forest, because she couldn't stand how people stared and whispered near her. Forest witches can be strange in ways that witches in the city simply can't get away with. Her eyes are coming with her, I have clothes, shoes, wig... I haven't been this ready for a doll to arrive in I can' even think how long.

I also managed to snag one of the sage Polaris heads. So now I need to decide what body to get for it.... and hopefully not take as long to get one as my other floating heads. Oops.

 

Oooh nice. Please share what body you're considering for Polaris when you have decided. I wanted a DF-H 1/5 body, but from what I've gathered they've indefinitely stopped taking custom resin matches from customer samples and will only do what they've got a sample of already. I'm kinda hoping they will bring it back or have something close, or maybe would accept a group order (but I don't know if there would be enough interest for the min order requirement)

This is from AC. I've emailed some other dealers but I did find that they mentioned not taking custom samples from July 27th (great timing) on their Weibo. I asked AC if they had something similar and she said she would get back to me and in just over a minute said "no they don't" which seems a bit quick to have checked with DF considering the time it takes to send emails and wait for replies. I'm holding out hope still but might have to either consider a different body or dyeing the DF one. EDIT: I've contacted DF directly also, and mentioned that more than one person would want the colour. Can't hurt to ask as worse they can say is no.

 

I just got back from vacation today, and the Frapp crew were perfectly willing to wait until I got back to ship when asked (I had been worried my Delphini would arrive while I was away). I just sent off an email letting them know I'm ready to pay for shipping, and now I'm super excited again because Telereuthe is coming home soon!! I received pictures from the pose test and she is absolutely precious!!

Telereuthe is a Delphini in mint and will become a lil luna-moth themed visitor from the Fair Folk!! She is very curious about life in a human household with other doll people and I'm really looking forward to making her some outfits when she gets here!! I don't know when I'll be able to get her faceup done as I've never sent a head out before and it makes me nervous- but I'll figure something out when I can, she might just have to be blank for a bit but even the blank sculpt is adorbs- I love the detail in her mouth sculpting, that's something I'm seriously impressed by with the Moons, they all have such a unique look to each of their faces!! I admit Telereuthe was a bit of an impulse layaway at the very beginning but over time I have seen more pictures that made me sure I made the right choice. She is very sweet! (though I have to admit she reminds me a lil of Dobby from HP (obligatory I do not support JKR, I just have read the books many times before the... mess) -- but not in a bad way!)

 

I grabbed white Lupi and Vega, I'm probably gonna sell the body they came with and put them both on resinsouls. And I'm probably gonna dye Lupi some sort of blue.

 

I’ve ended up opting to ship my two separately by airmail as it was about 50nzd saved. I figured I’ve waited this long.

Got updated by Rumple Designs with clothing pics and now have shipping notice for that too.

So will be bets I guess as to which will arrive first. Clothes or dolls.

 

I just received posing pics of my gorgeous deep Lyra. Her resin is so rich! I'm so excited that she will be coming to live here.

Interestingly, I never got any posing pics or a dispatch notice. My two just appeared. But I AM in the UK so it took like 2 days for them to arrive. I think hq are running behind that lol.

both are gorgeous, but i've misplaced the eyes I had for Lupi and I don't have any wigs for either of them. I'm broke for the next few months too, so they shall have to wait a while. Ahh well. I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

Now I'm wondering if I should have done airmail instead of the $66 for the faster shipping... I don't mind waiting and had only budgeted $50... Oops. Well, at least she will get here fast! I just don't know when I'll have time to do anything with her right away with the semester starting. Going to be busy busy. Still excited though! Maybe when I've saved a bit more I can order her a simple outfit based on the fit stuff people have posted here so I can have her around the house without getting weird looks from family re: her nudity before I get around to sewing for her.

 

I found my regular (not slim) msd shorts fit fine (trousers are too long lol) but tops is a bit different. Vega is actually currently wearing a BARBIE shirt. It's stretch mesh but I was shocked it fit. Lupi is wearing a Ken top which is baggy but works great for that sort of baggy look. But yeah... didn't expect them to be quite so slender in the top lol.

I'd really like some skinny jeans for Lupi but i'm not sure how to pull that one off. While standard msd jeans will probably fit around the waist, they'll need to be taken up AND wouldn't have a tapered enough leg so I may have to get some custom made in stretch denim.

wigs I think are 5inches, though I have a very specific style and colour I want for both so again that may need to be a custom job. I've made wigs before but not for a long time and never short styles so hmmmm.

Still my plan is that Vega will get a teal and purple half shaved/short look while Lupi will have a short shaggy style in reds and oranges. Their outfits are going to be sort of punky, a little gothy. Should be fun.

But it'll take a while to get it all sorted.

they're so dinky and it's adorable. I need to make space on my shelf for them both.

 

DF-H is a no go for resin matching. I'm looking for other alternatives for her.

They arrived last week but I only got the chance to open them today. I love them so much! I'll try and get some good photos soon. I really need to figure out clothes for them, might commission Rumple Clothing for some.

 

Her stuff is suuuuper cute, the turn around time can take a several months, but worth in my opinion.

 

More than happy to wait. I'm hoping she'll have a doll in a similar size of the body I'm thinking for my Polaris so I can order stuff for her too.

 

Just paid shipping for my Polaris and Lupi! I went with the fastest option, so it was an arm and a leg, but I'm tired of waiting!

 

I paid mine today too! I went for the second fastest, since it's going to no doubt linger in customs either way. If it comes through Chicago like it probably will they've been very erratic in processing lately.

 

I'm amused. I got a "your order will be with you soon" a few days ago when my dolls turned up like a week prior.

Now I gotta work out wigs. I have very specific styles in mind but I think that means i'll need to either make them myself or commission someone to do it. They have quite small heads and those ears get in the way a bit.
So hmmmmm.

 

I also went with the fastest shipping option and it really is fast, she was in Spain, Thursday, New York, last night and now she is at my distribution center! I'm on pins and needles to see her.

 

I heard back from bjdivas.com and they said they aren't doing unique colors, like sage but they are still going regular color matching. So at least I can still possibly get a match for the head I was looking at their bodies for. I guess for the weirder colors the fail rate was just too high.

Going through NYC customs seems to be waaaaay faster than Chicago right now!

I missed out on the pre-orders and it feels like every secondhand Alula on the market >.> But I managed to snag one!

She should be on her way to me soon! I'm a little nervous because she's light tan. I originally wanted medium because the light tan seems very... yellow... leaning in owner pictures. But at this point I just want the sculpt!

 

My Mint Delphini got here last Tuesday, she is lovely and absolutely precious! I was planning on calling her Telereuthe but for some reason I kept calling her Delphi, so that's her current name/nickname at least until she is more "set up" with wig and faceup and whatnot.

She actually came with a pink stain on her face, possibly from the hot pink mesh bag that the eyes I got her were packed in since it was against her face in the box. I emailed Team Frapp about it and let them know, the stain has since faded on its own though so I'm happy! If needed I can try to get any remnants of it with a magic eraser, which I have been assured is safe to use on the mint resin.

On another note, for some reason she has a little mark on her forehead that looks like a pencil L! I also let them know about that but in the course of handling Delphi I've grown to find it funny and cute!! Poor lil Delphi is not a loser, but she is very silly and due to how she is strung that silliness really shows! xD I need more practice posing her it seems, but when I was laughing at her antics her leg joint pinched me. Mean :c

One warning though: be careful with the magnets if you got bunny ears! Apparently the magnets were sent to the Frappzilla team with some sort of lubricant on them, and that WILL make marks on your doll with direct contact (like testing out positioning- that's how I found out) if you don't wipe them off first! I let Team Frapp know about this and they said they'd relay it to the one that packs the magnet parts, but I figured in case for people who already got them home, I'd mention it. The marks come off of resin easily with magic eraser, but I don't know what happens if they soak in or some such so be sure to deal with them right away.

That said, unfortunately I'm not at the computer where the photos I took are and due to my schedule I've been very busy during daylight hours! I will say that my Delphi is at least a head shorter and in different scale proportionally to my DollZone Shoyo, Laika, but I don't mind- I expected my Delphi to be the odd one out, a fae creature in a world rather alien to her. Or an actual alien. Still figuring that out.

Edit as of 9/22/2022 - I still haven't gotten any really good pics of her yet, but this is her next to Laika, my DollZone Shoyo!

 

Your little Delphi sounds like a character and a survivor! I've heard and seen a lot of reviews/comments on the Moon posing. I think there is a bit of a learning curve because of the knee/ankle locks, and also some elastic tension!

Whenever you do have time I'm super excited to see images of her! Never enough moon spam!

 

Wigs, has anyone found any wigs that work for the teensy lil' moon heads? Or made wigs for them?

 

I got my lilac and mint delphini girls a little while ago but haven’t started painting them yet just got them some shoes and accessories for now

 

I literally just remembered I had a dream a couple nights ago that started with me somehow appearing in a photostory comic series of a collector I follow on Instagram (who doesn't even do photostories) and ended up with us both watching a demonstration video by Frappzilla of trying on different wigs on the dolls, but for some reason in the dream it turned out that the other sculpts had ears that worked fine with wigs but Delphini was a special case and needed something more custom, and I had to order some wig materials but they would take forever to get to me so I asked to borrow some from the Instagram user, who I believe in real life does not even have any Frappzilla dolls- but I guess I've been looking at their page a bit lately or something so *shrug*

It was kind of weird as far as dreams go but it makes me want to consider trying to make a wig for Delphi if Frappzilla ever releases wig kits for the Moons like I think existed for the Bloom size? I'm sure it's very complicated for beginners to just *make a wig* but the kits seemed interesting and I like the idea of doing something hands-on for Delphi. When I have more time off from the semester I plan to make her a pair of leggings, with fabric from an old pair of human size leggings. xD Recycling fabric for quick projects is fun lol. Now I have a bunch of stretchy fabric without having to buy it by the yard! But I digress.

 

It seems like the moon heads are all different sizes? I don't suppose anyone has a Vega and could please measure:

- top of forehead to back of neck over top of head
- top of ear to top of ear over top of head

My Alula arrived yesterday! The light tan while yellow leaning isn't as *yellow* in person as I thought it would be and is actually quite nice.

Her hand popped off within a hour though so she sitting with a hemostat until I can manhandled the hook to be more of a hook.

 

My deep lyra arrived yesterday. I've been spending a lot of time fussing over her. I just love her so much. and the deep resin is gorgeous! I'm excited to see her and my light tan lyra together in pics later this year after separate spa visits.

I got my Alula in Peony and it's such a lovely color!! I am in love. I also have a Vega in medium and a Polaris in Peony on the way. Polaris is on layaway for now though. And my Vega was only a head, so I'm going to hybrid her onto a doll family H 1/5 scale body! Hopefully it works well. I love these dolls!

 

Frappzilla's home was flooded yesterday. They are mostly okay and all orders were moved when it became evident that river was going to overflow. But if you are emailing them or something they may be a bit slow to answer for awhile, there is going to be a lot of clean up.

 

Let s hope that everything is fine with them.

 

Frappzilla is mostly all cleaned up and getting back on track. Their internet is still spotty though and the biggest hold up is that the Royal Mail service isn't doing any international shipping still. Hopefully that will be resolved soon, it started the day before the flooding happened due to a cyber attack.

 

Has anyone had any luck improving a Dandelion Moon's posing with wiring? I've never wired a doll before (been meaning to do it with another doll of mine but haven't gotten around to it) but I've been really struggling with the legs collapsing whenever I try to pose my Delphi. Unfortunately she's been in a box for a while because of that and issues sewing for her (patterns would be welcome too!!) and I'm not sure how well I've been bonding with her. I think maybe trying things like posability improvement and such might help, but I don't know where to start. I may look into joining the Frappzilla Discord I've heard of since I haven't seen a lot of Moons in the wild outside of here. I remember someone mentioning somewhere that the artist was disappointed with people's reactions though and I don't want to make them feel bad if I have issues with posing and such and post about it there.

I do hope they are able to recover from the flooding, that sounds like an awful situation and I hope they're okay, not just the dolls!

I've heard about the Royal Mail issue, and yeah it still seems to be a thing- at least, UK sellers on Etsy aren't shipping internationally right now which is kind of a pain but I hope it clears up for everyone soon, especially people who are waiting on dolls or other expensive items, or relying on shipping for their business/livelihood.

 

There were issues with the way the castor sanded the inside of the knees, I think? Frapp mentioned they’ll send out silicone kips to all moon owners that should help with the knees buckling issue. I definitely recommend hitting up the discord as they’d have more information on getting those free kips and replacement hooks

Until then, I hot glue sueded mine inside the knee areas and inside the hips and it helped a lot with the buckling issue

 

Ah right, I forgot about the kips! Though again that might be a while due to the flooding and mail issue of course.

I need to relearn how to hot glue suede dolls, I remember doing it on Laika (DZ Shoyo, OT for this thread) a while back but it was very messy so I need to look up some tutorials to see if I can do it right. With Laika all that I ended up with was having to pick out scraps of dirty glue from her joints after I got fed up with my failed attempt at sueding and how messy it looked. So I might wait for the kips, since I do have other dolls to focus on right now. I still really like my Delphi's sculpt for the most part, so I do want to put in more effort to make things work before I end up giving up and rehome her or something. It's just been frustrating trying to work with her with the posing the way it is, I feel bad that it's affecting my enjoyment of such a lovely doll.

 

kip set arrived today along with my missing coa, so that's nice. I don't know how to use kips but i'll have a go at some point. One of my two poses absolutely fine, the other has an issue where his legs like to buckle. Wierd.

 

Hi all, Frappzilla just caught my eye and I’m totally smitten with Lyra in deep or medium resin tone! I’m mostly a Minifee collector though so I was wondering if anyone knows where I could find some size comparisons and if anyone has done any hybrid attempts? I know someone earlier mentioned resinsoul but I’m open! Thank you all so much!

 

Edit: Forgot to say what I initially came here to say which is: I saw a cute photo of an orange alpaca wig on a Delphini and now I have a better idea of how I want to style mine!! I forgot how much of a difference wigs can make. Ideally Delphi will have something white with green/lime streaks, I think. But alpaca wigs are pricey so it might be a bit.

On the Discord (linked here under "Join our Discord Family") I've so far seen someone trying out a hybrid of Delphini on a Legrand Doll body, of which the consensus was it could look good with a shorter neck and some modding, a Rumpeldoll Abbey body (which people seemed to conclude was very out of proportion- the head looked huge) and a different Moon sculpt (not remembering off the top of my head which one) on a 1/6th Dream Valley centaur. I highly recommend joining the discord, it seems a lot of activity regarding Moons is there especially as orders are going out more and Moons are arriving at their new homes. The 3 hybrids I just mentioned were posted w/ pictures and discussed in the last 3 days. So it seems like a good source of information.

Downside is, if you're not into Discord as a platform or don't like fast paced chats, you might want to mute the channels you don't care about to avoid unwanted pings and only see what you want to see- and there are a lot of chats. It's not incredibly fast paced in the way famous influencer Discord groups can get but it does see plenty of activity

I would love to see more Moons posted about other places, and they do go by on Instagram, but the Discord really does seem to be the main hub for information about these dolls.

I've just discovered these dolls and I'm in love . Does anyone know if there are any preorders planned or likely? Or are they discontinued?

 

If I understand correctly the resin Moons are not planned to be cast again, though the designs may return in their other (sadly off topic) non resin (or maybe 3d printed resin? I don't follow those so not sure) lines. They seem to be focusing more on the kits now rather than another full doll preorder. There might be people looking to rehome theirs but as far as I know the resin Dandelion Moons are indeed, effectively, discontinued.

(again, I recommend the Discord for updates or if you are interested in their other dolls; they hardly ever post info to their Instagram anymore, the Discord seems to be where they do their big announcements these days)
