Aesthetics Flower Children {Dollzone Moment and Anson - Long Term Project}

Jul 8, 2014

    1. I love it! His eyes are very unique looking and suit his face-up.

    2. I think this is the best customization of this model I've ever seen so far =)

    3. Amazing.

      Happy anniversary! :) :chocoberry

    4. Oh my goodness, this is insanely beautiful. Such a fantastic design, and you've pulled it off wonderfully. I love the asymmetry of the wings, it means wherever you look, there's something new and beautiful to look at and it all ties together so well. Excellent work!

    5. Thank you. I really like them for him too.
Hehe. They are gorgeous eyes anyway, so it's hard not to like them. ^_~

      Oh goodness, thank you! :blush
These sculpts are so innovative untouched I really wanted to do it justice.

Hehe, thank you! I'm actually just back from a few days out of town and it was lovely.

Aw, thank you so much! ^__^
I really like the asymmetry in him too. It makes it feel more natural to me somehow. Perhaps that seems odd since the wing patterns of butterflies and moths do open symmetrically…but I feel like it just flows better since the petals of the sculpt itself are not symmetrical. Plus, then I get to use more different patterns! :3nodding:

    6. He looks absolutely gorgeous! I love how you didn't do each petal the same, but gave them different petals. But damn, I don't know if I would ever have the patience to do the same hihi xD.

    7. i know exactly what you mean! Nature has so many random shapes and patterns, the asymmetry with the beautiful design just go hand in hand perfectly to look so natural. And yes, I think the different shapes of the petals really help with it as well. It all ties together so lovely :) and hehe yay for lots of patterns! :D

    8. WOW. Just wow. This is an incredible project, very ambitious~ So very well done too♥ I absolutely love what you're doing♥♥♥ Keep on being awesome~

    9. Very lovely work. ^_^

    10. she's wonderfull.

Do you make blush or tatto for the body ?

    11. Aw, thanks. Hehehe, sometimes I wonder if I have the patience too! ^_~
Ahhh, he's going to be worth it...but he is a lot of work. Hehe, hence, why this is a long term project!

Given how fantastic the sculpt is for these guys, I came to the conclusion that I should just go all out! ^__^

      Oh! Thank you! :thumbup

      Thanks so much. ^__^

      Thank you! ^_^
I'm going to blush the petal arms, but not the body itself. I plan to make him a rather elaborate costume, so it seems silly to put detail work under all that when he will always wear his clothes. Also, I don't want to have to worry about it rubbing off, or staining. Basically, I don't want to ever have to re-blush this guy!! ^_~

    12. Yes, eyes! Beautiful shape, but terrible for being able to see any eyes you put in! Argh!
I think you found a nice pair there though. You can actually see that there are eyes in there, and that's an accomplishment!

      Gorgeous, wonderful work!
And congratulations on the anniversary! Ours is coming up at the end of September. ^_^

    13. Amazingly beautiful!! I enjoyed seeing the progress pictures. You have talent.

    14. This sculpt always amaces me, and how each owner gives him a different kind of style. Yours is just awesome! Each petal has like a mini story on it, yet has some kind of simmetry. I love it! beautiful artwork!

    15. So awesome!!!!! I wanted an anson too, soooo beautiful!!!!! *_*
      More pics, more, more!!! XD

    16. Happy Anniversary to you too then! ^__^
Yeah...the eye shape is so fiddly. I love it so much though, so I had to just keep trying to find something that would work. I think these are a good balance, though I do feel just a tad guilty that you can't see more of the eyes because they have a lovely iris pattern. Hehe.

Aw, thank you so much. ^_^

Thank you! I really like the way you put that, that each petal is its own story. ^_^
But I completely agree, it's so great to see how everyone approaches these sculpts because they are all so creative! <3

      Hehe, thank you! ^___^
I need to get back to work on him! Hehe, I put his head back on for a group photo of my dolls and it was nice just to see him put back together for a while, so I didn't want to take him apart right away again. Hehe.

    17. Lady Ravenswood: He Is Just..................I Have No Words. You Did A Incredible Job. I Can't Wait To See Him Complete.

    18. The people on DoA amaze me all the time with their talents. I'm thrilled to discover yet another artist! Bravo!

    19. Aw, thank you!!

Thank you so much! There is a lot of amazing talent in this hobby. I love seeing what people are making too! ^__^

Eh, well I seem to be in a little bit of a painting slump at the moment. I have other dolls that need some painting work too (tattoos and new faceups), but I just haven't felt like getting all the supplies out and working on them...

    20. Absolutely gorgeous!! I have never seen anything like this before!! You are incredibly talented.

    21. Oh, thank you so much. ^_^

Hehe, well I finally got my sewing table cleaned up. I thought it might be nice to work there as that room has a lot of nice light...er, but then I realized that all of my wing references are on my computer...and I can't see them in that room. :doh

    22. Its always something. I'm sure you'll find a way.

    23. Hehe, it sounds like an excuse even to me. ^_~
Ah, it always happens though. That moment where I want to work on him...but I don't want to work on him. :sigh
Er yes...sorry for the lack of updates everyone.

    24. Your work is absolutely stunning! Totally blew me away! I love your art design that's just superb! My mouth was gaping open while reading this whole thread. haha! Wow...

    25. Oh! Thank you very much. ^__^

    26. Wow, this looks so cool and beautiful! *o*
I love the colours you used on the dragonfly wing-part!

    27. Thanks! Hehe, that dragonfly wing was an interesting challenge. All of the colors on the other wings are based on examples, but I sort of just made up what colors I wanted to use for that one. Glad you like it. ^_^

    28. Hello everyone!

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've been able to post an update. I guess this update is really just to let you know that it's going to be some time before I can work on poor Freyr again as actually I'm pregnant. Hehe, so no spraying for me for the time being!

I will be getting back to this project when I can again, so if you can stand the wait, I'd be so glad to see you in the thread then. ^_^

    40. Amazing work :aheartbea:sumomo::chibi:fangirl:

    41. So...looks like the photos died in this thread today. A big, big thank you to Lysian for letting me know. :bcake
      I've fixed them all now.

Aw, thank you so much. Time has been flying! Soon baby will be here. Hehe. I'm hoping that after we settle into a routine I can do some more work on poor Freyr. For now, he's sitting in the doll parlor.

      Thank you! ^__^
Yes, it is slow going, but I excited to see him finished one day.

      Thank you! ^__^

    44. He is absolutely stunning. Amazing work, one of the most beautiful dolls I have ever seen. I wish you and your baby well, and I'm looking forward to seeing an update when you are able to make one. (:

    45. Aw, thank you so much!

    46. Hello all! Today is the day to get back to work. ^_~

      And....

First headcap wing outline done! :fangirl:

Basically. The tip will be black too...but I'm keeping it blank so I have someplace to put my finger when I hold the headcap. :sweat

For the headcap I'm going to be doing things in a little bit of a different order. The plan is to do ALL the wing outlines first, then spray, then add color. This is my attempt to save on spray layers. Wish me luck. Hehe.

    47. A crazy project and implementation so far fantastic, respect !!!

    48. Thank you! ^__^
Hehe, it's good to be working on it again.

    49. Oh my gosh, I am so excited to see new work on him. :whee::dance

    50. Did some planning today so I had a better idea of which wings I wanted where and got started on one of the front inner head cap wings. These are tough cookies! To be fair, I basically have to make myself into a pretzel in order to draw any of the wing patterns, but these front inner petals curve inward...*_*

I wasn't even sure I could get a photo of the pattern. Why did I decide to do this again?

      Just kidding.

But it's done! For now! Yay!

    51. Wow! Your work is really stunning! :D
I'm even more curious to see what you will do on your Pan.

    52. Aw, thank you so much!
Hehe. Well, now you know why she is still blank. Too much in the doll queue.

    53. Wow! :love:love Your doll is so beautiful, there really aren't any words!

I love how beautifully you've captured the different wings. It makes them look delicate and so life-like. Your work is absolutely gorgeous!

I can't wait to see what else you do with this project!

    54. OMG, great to see you back at him again!!

    55. Wow, such an amazing job! The petal head is absolutely stunning!

    56. How incredibly beautiful! I think the moth part on the face is my favorite. I can wait to see the finished product! :D

    57. Just stumbled on this project and I'm absolutely blown away by the beauty of your doll! *°*

I'd love to see more progress on this gorgeous little one!

    58. Oh thank you so much for the kind words!

I pick up this doll here and there. I have a shoulder injury that makes it really hard to work on so much fine detail like this doll requires. Someday I will finish him...but I don't know quite when that will be. Everyone's encouragement really means a lot to me because of that.
