Contest Flight (Prop/Accessory)

I don't expect that the mods can stalk this thread of course, which is why I tried PMs.

I understand being busy, and that you are all volunteers doing all this planning for us with little reward other than personal satisfaction if a good time is had. I just started a new job and my dog had an injury, among other things. That's why I'm late getting started on this. I'm very excited that I have time to try it at all!

Good luck everyone, I wish I could have entered but life mucked it up. I cannot WAIT to see what everyone did!! It's an amazing thing to see so many talented people in one place...we're so lucky to have DoA, aren't we?

 

Mine got stolen. XD I did mine at a Quakecon convention and used what I found there. I used Bawls energy drink cans for the aluminum and apparently avid fans of the drink decided that the plane was too good of swag NOT to make off with it. lol Rule of thumb. Never use the ultimate favorite drink of avid computer gamers at a 3000 attended event. I was irritated yesterday a little but now I laugh at it. And this happened after two other setbacks too.

Lucky for me my puki Sugar: Ella was NOT in the cocpit of the plane at the time!! O.o That would have been tragic. For those of you who want to know it was a double wing plane with working prop. ( rubber band ect for the engine)

We're not sure when the voting will be up on these. Junkets and I are the organizers for all of the contests, and we are in the process of moving to a new place. As you might expect, we're pretty busy! In addition, I am still cataloging and processing the 100+ entries to the sock contest. The entries will be up for voting when we have a chance, but unfortunately some events are temporarily taking the back burner to real life.

I was upset that day. But after several setbacks I felt that it was the god's of the perverse that it was not ment to be. No I didn't get a picture of it. I went to the bathroom on the way to my room (convention was held at a hotel) to get the camara. My little puki went with me ( Thank God!) The guys who said they were to watch it went "for a moment" to catch a Tshirt being thrown. While they were gone it was taken.

Anyway I laugh at it now and am trying to view it in an amused light. It was just a energy drink can plane. I can make another. That and it could have been worse. They could have taken little Ella.

I know what you mean though. I was working on a real paper hotair ballon for my Bobobby Nissa and had the balloon finished and was getting the basket together and about to hook everything up (i was even using a big b-day candle for the flames LOL) and at the last possible minute the balloon tore in several places. (kids and dogs need I say more) I couldn't make repairs in time so I decided that it was better to pass on the contest rather than stress myself out too much. oh well I will finish the balloon for him sometime probably late fall or early spring so the weather is right to actually make it fly LOL.

That sounds really cool serenitysir. Can't wait to see it in the future. I had a run in with a couple of cute little 6 year olds who LOVED planes. lol. Since I make toys for them to play with they assumed that the plane would be theirs and decided on giving it a test run. This happened before I left for the convention. Luckily I folded over the sharp bits of the cut aluminum before they got ahold of it or that would have been bad. They wouldn't have hurt the dolly. In fact they treat Ella like she's made of glass. Anyway needless to say...Wheeee a plane... Toss... CRunch!... uuuuhhh ohhhh!...followed by sad looks and apologies.
Anyway sorry for rambling on. ^^

I'd really like to know as well. I don't mind if it's a couple more weeks, I'd just like to see something definite.

I got it on y!japan. It's from the "Yoko" dollfie dream seen here. [link] I don't know anything about the show she's from, but I just loved that wig.

 

Ohhh! I knew I saw that wig from somewhere! I love Gurren Lagaan! If the doll wasn't so expensive, I would have bought her. XD

Hehe I never thought of using it as a lamp but that's a good idea Runy!
As far as the time it took to make- probably a little over 30hrs in all.
All the wood parts had to be cut with a skill saw since its all I had so
that took extra long >.< then all the painting and decorating after
building the actual structure was a lot to contend with.

Your entry was really cool Runy, I loved all the detail you put in!

 

My fave was actually the elephant XD

What is everyone going to do with their flight thingies now that the contest is over?

 

I can imagine it took you a while BunnyChan, there was a lot of detail!

I'm really excited about having my ship now, I'd really like to make a
story or comic with it, and make it an ongoing project! I think the biggest
win of all in this contest is that everyone who praticipated has an awesome
new prop now! I really can't wait to see what other people plan for theirs!

 

Amazing job Teaspoons, your ship was truly amazing as was everyone elses entries!!

I do have a question though. Back in the rules it was mentioned that 'All entrants will receive a graphic badge for their signatures' (a few other contests featured this as well if I recall) is this still going to happen?? *is just curious*

That would be so fun to follow a comic of photostoy, or a book for children before going to sleep. T3T Cute dolly lamp i wish had in my room.

I also feel the same, this wings gives to my Ain another look i didn't have of him, i want to make a story for him too ^^ also, want to improve this wings and make them without the umbrella or something less heavy.
I wanted to do really folding wings like entry #17 from Patl *__* or #26 from pskbarbie, but i ended using a umbrella ha ha XD it was heavy for my doll.

S0ra, your Fafner is cute, i like a lot the fabric, makes me want to touch it. Plushies are hard to do.

I also liked #40 syrinfox bat wings, how do you placed them in your doll?
#24 thegashlycrumb, is awesome, i like a lot the steampunk and this wings folding are incredible with the clothes and all the construction without tape or glue!
I love #25 from Isabeau, reminds me of dreamcatchers with the feathers, please post more pics Isabeau.
