First faceup feedback

Jun 26, 2020

    1. Hi! After two years of owning my first bjd and she staying in box, I finally had the courage to do her faceup. I am pretty pleased with how she turned out but all feedback is welcome. I have another doll incoming so advice for improvement is much appreciated. One thing I learned is that I need to do way more layers. It looks a bit messy because I tried to push the color values too soon. Anyway, if you leave feedback thank you :3nodding::3nodding:
p.s Sorry for the photo spam haha

    3. Wow! That's your first faceup!?! She looks really awesome! I love her freckles and prominent eyebrows. Just overall, a really polished look! Also, much applause for how cleanly her lips are painted.

    4. This is your first? Wow! The freeckles look so nice and natural.

    6. Wow, your doll looks fantastic for your first!
If you want any sort of critique for next time, it would be to do a lighter layer of pastel for the brows. Use 3 shades of water color pencil for the individual brow hairs. One the shade you like best, one a bit darker and one lighter or even white or grey. Get the pencils as sharp as you can manage and make the hairs with the lightest touch you can manage. The 3 colors will create the illusion of depth. You can always practice on the headcap before going to the face. I'd also add a little more blushing into the deeper crevices of the ears for depth.
Your doll looks good and you should be very proud of her! I love what you have done!

    7. Thank you for the advice!
I have seen people do this. I think I tried the hard part too fast haha. I used paint for the brows and lashes. I saw a few pro artists do this first to get them out of the way but mine got kind of lost with the blushing. I think I need to layer more for sure. It was really hard to do but I am satisfied with the results. The pencils would probably give me a lot more control, specially if I do faces on smaller than msd. For my next faceup I will give it a try to attempt something different. Thanks again :)
