@Vitarja Thank you, this is good to know. This is what I usually use as well. Well, I also did a faceup, but I think I'll have to redo it soon. I had a mishap where I sprayed too much sealant (I started a new can). I also think my lines are too thick. But It'll do for now. I do think she's cute even with a faceup that's a bit lacking. Edit: I modified her faceup a bit more...I still have to redo it, but it's a bit better at least. Spoiler
Can I ask those of you who ordered from Dollection how long shipping took? I've got active tracking for mine but I'm wondering how long this is going to take, especially since the order also contains a giveaway prize for a convention coming up later this month...
They have arrived, and they are so cute! These are my first anime style dolls so I'm sure it's going to take some trial and error to learn to do their faceups. These are going to be alot of fun to customize, I think ill try dyeing a couple. Shipping took almost 3 weeks according to the tracking record. (I do have to say, on top of all the other issues with mydollection, I also wasn't happy with how it was packaged, their boxes were just loose in a plastic bag envelope thing. But they survived the journey, so oh well I guess. But I won't be ordering for mydollection again.)
Seems like a lot of people have problems with MyDollection. Glad it isn't just a me issue. When my dolls arrive i shall fill in the feedback thing for Mydollection. Don't think i will ever order from them ever again.
I'm going to get another one from series 2, but I'm getting it via Yoybuy directly from Taobao. Let's see how well that goes!
@EagleVision1999 she is a cutie @whooganana congratulations! oh, dyeing is so exciting *__* I am waiting doll from garden series now, with help of local dealer from Taobao.
Mine should be shiped next week since they will be shipoed with an other order i placed. But I habe had som problems with the shiping paymens. Its not an easy dealer I must say.
Hm, has anyone had their dolls shipped with ShunFeng? If so, was it delivered to your door or did you have to go pick the package up somewhere? My tracking status as of yesterday reads: 11:56:00 Shipment in transit at SE. Thanks for your waiting. 09:44:00 The parcel has been placed at the post office/pick-up point, waiting for the customer to pick it up I guess I might be sent a notice via mail to pick it up, time will tell.
I'm fearful, the most basic shipping for Brazil was expensive as hell, the doll hasn't arrived yet so I'm really scared the doll will arrive broken, did everyone get theirs poorly packaged?
@lunaticlover Mine came in a platic shipping bag with a layer og bubblewrap around the doll box. The doll box itself is fairly solid and the doll itself was wrapped and protected well by the packaging of the doll company. So the packaging by the dealer was meh, but that might not be a problem. In other news, the supposedly in-stock doll I bought on Taobao hasn't arrived at the proxy yet. We'll see. And another thing: I got an email from a company called Easy Parcel asking me how shipping went. The shipping date was inexplicably 10.05.2022 but had the correct tracking. Made me wonder if My Dollection had approached a shipping middle man rather than a shipping company directly. Would explain why the info I got was a little off. Maybe.
Update! Dollection order. Yesterday, Thursday, I get an e-mail from ShunFeng (the shipping company), telling that there's a problem with my package, and it will get sent back unless I don't pick up before the 15th, with me having to pay for the cost of that. I was like ???, especially since the tracking stated the package only got to my pick-up point on Tuesday, but I hadn't been informed of where that pick-up point was, there are several options all over town. Anyway, I head to the said pick-up point. At this point, another shipping company called DPD has taken over. I show them the DPD tracking number, no package found, I show them the ShunFeng one, nope. I can only go home and hope that I have a pick-up notice in the mail, we get mail here every other day these days. Thankfully, there was a notice with a 4-digit identification number, so I can go back and get the package. It's pretty well-packed, the corners were all enforced with small plastic covers for protection, but some of the Penny's blind-boxes had got a bit smushed during shipping. The bubble wrap had heart shaped bubbles, btw! The dolls are all adorable! I really like the blue eyes I got, the red, not so much. My main concern would be the shipping practices... To not get a notification till there's barely 3 days before they'd send the doll back is absurd! What if I had been out of town? Normally, they will hold your package for 2 weeks before sending it back. Also, the total weight of the package was said to be 1800 grams, but then it said "chargeable weight 2500g", I dunno, man... I will most likely go to Taobao next time and use a shopping service that did an excellent job.
I got mine today, delivered in a plastic bag shipper like others got but no bubble wrap around the box (or the other head inside--but it's vinyl so it survived just fine). Thankfully the doll itself was wrapped very well so it survived intact, and even the box doesn't have any significant damage. The "gift bag" was just tossed in the envelope loose so I had to chase down all the little bits and pieces in there. I'm not sure if they'll keep the wig and eyes, but at least she's not bald and empty-headed for now while I decide what to do with her. As for the doll itself, I'm impressed! Resin feels very nice, posing is good, they stand like a rock... I'm glad I went for one of these, especially because I can now take them to the panel I'm running next weekend as "Hey, if you don't have a ton of money but want resin, check these ones out." Though I'll probably suggest buying from Jane's instead of Dollection.
OKAY My little guy is coming!! Already in my city, overall it took only 14 days to arrive in Brazil, with the cheapest shipping option, which is REALLY fast considering things take one to two months to arrive here hopefully next week I'll have it!
I received mine today! I'll make him a doll of my ff14 warrior of light (maybe in another outfit tho xD)
So I ordered one of the fairy 2.0 line on Taobao a while back, and she arrived yesterday!! I slapped in some painted anime eye experiments i did and put her in this strange little Blythe-sized a-line dress I made when I was a teenager, it doesn't fit obviously (seems to be okay around the shoulders and arms but absolutely too small in the hips lol) just to see the doll in something that resembles clothes and dear GOD these guys are so cute Spoiler: close up of her face Insanely sturdy too like others have said, I'm excited to get her more set up with a face and wig and proper clothes 'cause this genuinely feels like the perfect doll to go taking photos in the woods with, if that makes sense? Like these guys can STAND lol I'm not sure if 1.0 has these, but 2.0 has silicone kips in the hip joints along with the head which is nice I also have a garden series ordered from MyDollection that I ordered before I learned how to use Taobao which I'm a little nervous about seeing the struggles others have been having, but that's for future me too worry about LOL
It makes perfect sense! I'm thinking the same thing with mine, she just feels perfect for taking around with me for photos on the go, she's so sturdy (and so much less pricey than my others). I'd be interested in a link to the Taobao store, if you wouldn't mind sharing that too; I'm trying out Bhiner and would love to see what the price difference is there vs Dollection for one of the 2.0 fairies
If I remember correctly, here's their Taobao shop from their Weibo~ Jane's Dolland also seems promising as a US-based dealer! I live in Canada so using Taobao with an agent (I haven't tried out Bhiner yet but I've had a pretty good success this time using Superbuy) is much more economical for me than using a lot of dealers, mostly because of shipping (shipping from China is usually easier and cheaper than shipping from the US in my experience despite being just a border vs an ocean away LOL) It's definitely been an interesting learning experience though, a lot of research needs to be done at all times hfkjsfjkdldfjd
My baby's customization is done (minus socks and shoes)! They're a little familiar. I made everything except the eyes and hat! I might be retrying the faceup in a little bit. Anime style is way harder than I thought.
@Thymeseer What a cute little punk! It will be interesting doing face-ups on these... But I'm looking forward to it. ^^
@sixtypagesketchbook The series 2 fairies are so cute. Nice to see one in this thread already. @Thymeseer That little punk is really cute! I think anime style faceups are harder, too. In my case maybe it's because I haven't attempted to draw anything anime in like a decade. Maybe I'll use a manga for reference when I paint the next one. Anyway, my series 2 fairy arrived at the shopping service and I'm getting it shipped asap. I even paid a little bit more for express shipping. Of course the wig I have chosen won't be here in time, probably the clothes won't be either but well... Since my first fairy has Earth Sadol eyes and a short pink wig I will give my second one the Venus eyes and a long blue wig. I'm considering to get her the same outfit in a different color but I will have to see the body first, I'm not sure the fit will be the same.
Spoiler: Pictures They're here!!! This is Phylo, they'll be a little seedling oc of mine! They're from a race of elementals/earth fairy/druids c: Lil review below! My first impressions were great, the box arrived wrecked but the doll was so well packaged no damage was done. It has little imperfections in the resin but nothing that'd be too noticeable tbh, and it's HEAVY! The doll is bigger than my regular YoSD, and the proportions are completely different too. The joints work great and are well made, the sculpt is adorable and although it has anime features they have enough depth to not be completely flat faced. I'm honestly in awe of the quality because of the price point, I thought I was going to receive an extremely lightweight "ok" bjd, but honestly I could say it is as well made as my honey delf. The only downside is that the hand pose is a bit limited, and it doesn't have a chest joint, but for less than $100 this is honestly perfection and can change the BJD market for well made and more affordable options. The body proportion is quite different from regular YoSD dolls, so you'd have to probably either make some clothes or really look for things that are more loose fitting maybe!!! All in all I'm bursting with happiness, my buddy is WAY better than I expected, a great poser, cutest little face and a very unique and cute body too!
I'm sorry to ask, but do you have any idea how to order the hands separately through their store? I use bhiner, and although I think I found the link to the hands I don't know which hands I'd be buying, do you mind helping? 【现货】分界线~花园小姐~手型 | Taobao Agent Bhiner
No problem! I think the Bhiner website interface is just getting a little confused on what to do with listing options that have photos attached and isn't showing the text which tells you which hand style number you have selected. It seems that it's going in order from left-to-right: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, set of all five. Once added to your cart you can double check in there by looking at the "size description" under the item name, so 01 for the pointing hands, 02 is the fists, 03 is the grabby-ish hands, etc. Hopefully I explained that alright, lemme know if you're still having trouble!
@sixtypagesketchbook Oh noooo!! That little mouth is the cutest!! I was eyeing that sculpt too, it's even cuter than I hoped... I've been really eager to see what people think of the 2.0 elf line. May I ask what you think of the body/posability in all the joints?
I'd say the posing is fine, especially for the price. Most joints seem pretty decent and standard, the only real tricky parts were the wrists and ankles (like others said with the 1.0 line you can't move them very much) and I also find the shoulders super, like, kicky? They like to snap back into place unless you put them out really far, I might try sueding it later to see if that helps them do more transitional poses. Took some pictures of what it can do, I don't have a 1.0 to compare but it looks like they didn't change too much between body types outside of the new torso joint (and the hips might be slight less wide? It's hard to tell). Spoiler: some posing pics This is about how far it can go side to side. It can slouch a little forward, with a notch to keep it in place which is nice. It can also go backwards a little further than it can go forwards. Similar to its strong standing ability, it can sit pretty solidly too LOL it has little notches near the top of the thighs on the back that hold the legs straight out. The new neutral hand sculpt is really nice, I like the pose. I also bought the full set of option hands, and they're also very cute (and the middle finger one is hilarious). But yeah, I think it's pretty solid! Trickiest part being the very minimal wrist and ankle poseability, which seems to haunt the 1.0 line as well lol
Attempted to give my fairy a face! She looks a little intense since I forgot to put lights in the anime eyes I made, but I'm liking her a lot!!
I got my fairy 2.0! It's the same sculpt that @sixtypagesketchbook got I'm glad I didn't get the one without a sculpted mouth. This one instead works nicely with the one I already have. I put some clothes on her but her wig isn't here yet and neither is her twin outfit. I won't be able to do her faceup until maybe Saturday. But she's cute, the differences between the bodies is interesting. Also, I wonder if anyone can tell what their names are? Somebody did a list plus translation in this thread for the series 1 fairies, but not these ones. (sorry about the picture quality, bad weather, no light...) Spoiler: this is what the 2.0 box looks like Spoiler: the card with what I assume are the names I will take a nicer picture of it as soon as I get sufficient daylight.
My 1.0 is here! I ordered through MyDollection and opted-in for the no tracking option. I was a bit worried not knowing where exactly my package was, but they made it about 3,5 weeks later. I didn't even pick up the doll until the next morning because I didn't believe they finally made it haha I also paid a bit extra to choose the sculpt I only have a very loose idea for this character, so the random wig and eyes will help with the faceup colors (which I'm trying to do on my own... I have the materials but probably not the skills, will see) and the overall look. But I'm so excited! Right now I have no clothes to fit YoSD size, so they're borrowing an SD sized shirt and looking funny. Time to do some shopping
A really grainy low quality picture, because it's very very dark here, but the hands I ordered for my lady arrived! They are MagicTime 1/6 hands. I definitely should have opted for the smaller wrist ball rather than the larger one (you can get 0.8 or 1.2cm), but I wanted to play it safe. (I'd post the photo here, but Meta seem to have gotten good at obfuscating their URLs, so I can no longer link correctly) Ah, she's modded, by the way! I can't remember if I posted her mods here. I carved her eyes and reshaped her nose and mouth to make her more like a Lalafell. The hands have sculpted nails, but I think I might make them into gauntlet hands, since she always wears armour!
I have now finished both of my fairies! I redid the faceup of my first fairy like I'd planned and I did the faceup of the other one at the same time. After looking at a variety of Dollfie Dream faceups I came to the conclusion that I should keep it simple. As few lines as possible. There's still room for improvement, but I like them like this.
Hi! Here is my baby. I thought this outfit would be temporary until I came up with something more suitable. But I like the way she looks now 1 by Caramel Apple, on Flickr Spoiler 2 by Caramel Apple, on Flickr 3 by Caramel Apple, on Flickr
@Koma I did! I think it's great, I did a video reviewing it: The engineering/posing is honestly a lot better than I was expecting! Also I haven't seen it yet in the thread but I'm so excited for their New Year rabbit doll! I love how big it is Seems like halfway between a 1/6 doll and a 1/4 doll
@0bsequi0us oh, I love the bunny! I might actually be tempted as anime + bunnies is too hard to resist. I couldn’t resist and ordered one from Jane’s Dolland. My bunny resistance is futile.
I haven't caved to the bunny yet... but that's because I'm waiting for an artist head I ordered secondhand to come in so I can figure out if I need a pink or white one to match with it (and then a second white one because bunny)
@0bsequi0us Did you have a waittime for the 1/4 Dividing Line doll or did you find her in stock somewhere?
I ordered mine during the first wave on taobao, so I did wait for the full production time. I want to say the production time was about 3-4 months? I haven't seen any in stock anywhere yet
Ahh, good to know! I might consider getting her for her body if my first body choice for my floating head doesn't work out. But I'll have to wait for that anyway, so I might keep an eye out for in-stock ones in the coming months.
I purchased a Fen Jie Xian Fairy at a doll show last fall, and had her painted, then dressed her as a gift for my granddaughter...
@MB Lilac very cute I am working up to attempting a face up on mine I meantime, can any suggest where I can get fitting shoes as their feet are rather tiny I usually buy from aliexpress, or ebay (though ebay are usually resellers from aliexpress and more expensive). Ty
You need to measure the length of the doll's foot and make sure any shoes you order are that long INSIDE. The doll is wearing some 1/6 (YoSD) size Mary Jane shoes from Mimiwoo - 1/6 Sized (Yo SD)
Thank you for the link I understand how to measure for bjd footwear, it just is that a lot of aliexpress sellers ... 'misrepresent' ... what they are selling and was wondering if anyone has past successful buys. I have had a far number of bad buys. Which gets annoying
