Fen Jie Xian Fairies / Dividing line bjd

I'm getting just one! I'm excited for any type I get. They're all so cute. I can't figure out how I want them styled though. I'm hoping when they are in-hand I will figure it out, but that means they'll be bald and naked for a bit!

 

I’ve been really into anime dolls recently, so I got 2! One from a group order on Instagram and one directly from the artist’s taobao.

I usually do mockups of anime dolls I'm going to get in Procreate, but since I don't know which ones I'm getting I guess I'll just wait I really hope I don't get 2 of the same sculpt, that would be a bummer. That's always the worst thing about blind boxes. I guess I'd just mod one if I got a double.

 

@Snowy One taobao shop immediately came to mind for that kind of eye, actually! They're the acrylic kind but I think they might be similar to what you're looking for: {x} {x}

TBH though I find anime eyes pretty hard to size 12-14mm seems so small compared to what I'm used to!

 

I ordered one from Clover Singing as a doll blind box sounded like fun and all the variations look cute, so... I don't have any plans for it yet and I think I'll decide what to do with it when I actually get it.

 

The delivery of these guys seems to be all over the place One of mine actually just arrived at my agent yesterday, while I haven't heard anything about the one I bought through a dealer. I'm pretty sure I bought them both on the exact same day (9/10), so it's interesting that delivery would be so different based solely on where you place your order.

(I'm definitely excited though, I got one of the ones I wanted! Hopefully shipping doesn't hold it hostage for months like all my other dolls lately OTL)

 

@Snowy I got #1 (I don't know if they have official names, to be honest)
So the one with the smiling closed mouth and smiling eyes.

Also now that I know which one I'm getting, I've been able to do mockups! Which features I go with will depend on how defined the mouth sculpt is in person.

@Snowy Oh yeah, you got all 6! It'll definitely be interesting to see what you do with all of them, in a way I feel like I got the easiest one! the open mouth ones in particular seem like they would be hard to work with.

And nah, I tried to use my agent's pic but it was too small. That's just a pic from the dealer's instagram where I bought mine.

 

Hello! me and my 5 friends ordered this lucky box and agreed to open randomly at the same time and let luck decide, what kind of doll we have.... I hope it will be fun There is so little info about these dolls, I hope more owner's photos will appear soon

 

I was trying to figure out what this company was called! I did a group order with local collectors and are our box arrived. I have my two in hand and they are super cute! Honestly also much nicer than I expected considering the price point

They're really cute. I have the cheeky one and the sad face one? Their box does have hanzi for the sculpt names if anyone can get them.

@Kim Omg they're sooo cute, the sad face one is my favorite! The ones you got make a good duo personality-wise. I've just been referring to them by the order they're usually presented in (So like the sad faced one is #2, and mischievous face is #5), so I also hope we can figure out the proper names for them.

Very cute! Our lot did not have the one with the two fangs open mouth and instead got two of the squinty eyed one. It's interesting to see how the gacha aspect plays out. I wonder if anyone has gotten one of the purple or black ones

 

I decided to paint my Gobbos instead of using the decals:

They have no clothes or any idea of who they are, but the baby is here! I've also never done an anime style faceup, so this will be an adventure. We call this outfit "6 year old wearing mom's shirt"

 

Just got a shipping notice from Clover Singing/Christina~!

She shipped using the logistics company Yanwen which usually takes around 10 days to get to me from previous experience. I hope it makes it here before the Lunar New Year holidays... It's cutting it very close though!

 

I only bought one and I don't really have any particular face I'm hoping for. I can't remember what faces there are actually!

Heeey popping in here. I just got my shipping notice from clover singing. Desperately hoping i'm lucky enough to get the purple skin one since i'm planning on making it a Gengar and that'll make it way easier as i won't have to dye it lol

I'm excited to see what other people do! My first plan was a lalafell so i kinda hope some people do that XD

 

Haha I'm sure anybody who plays FFXIV and saw these thought lalafell! I fully intend on making mine a lalafell.

 

Mine has arrived way ahead of schedule! I got number 3 face, the one with all the teeth. According to the back of the box, his/her official name is Nobby.

Mine didn't come with those decals everyone else seem to have got though...

 

I was reeeally going to go with the lalafell idea but i don't already have a character so i'd have to make one and decided "eh i like gengar better." So here we are. @nattherat please post pictures of your finished lalafell!

I did see that some people are getting decals but i wonder if they were maybe limited supply? I'll let you know if i get them or not. I won't be using them probably so it's nbd for me though

 

@Snowy My WoL most likely! It depends on how well the face actually works in reality. I had previously been preparing to 3D print my character for an exact replica, but I do find 3D printed resin very fragile and frustrating, so I am happy to “compromise” on exact likeness. Only to an extent though; like many people I am very precious about my WoL!

 

One of my dolls (the one that was still a mystery to me) arrived out of the blue yesterday! I was so thrilled, I got the one I really wanted!

 

@Snowy Yep, I tried to make the eyes look bigger with the faceup. Which was a little difficult for me tbh, since the faces aren't quite as flat as other anime dolls I've worked with.

 

@Snowy me too honestly. I'm not sure what i'll do just yet. Probably gonna end up winging it once it gets here lol

Also it seems like i may have been hit by bad timing with the post though, as my doll hasn't moved in days. Seems all the chinese posts have already closed for the new year holiday so i'm stuck waiting for movement until they reopen. Hope everyone else's made it out before then

@Snowy ah good to know. I was just confused since one of the chinese bjd companies i follow on instagram said their post office closed on the 20th for the new year holiday but being as english is not their first language, they may not have meant that exactly

It's true we might just not be seeing the pics lol. But we can all dream! I'm still hopeful! But it's no big deal at the end lol. I can make it purple myself

Actually, Lunar New Year starts on a different day each year as it follows the lunar calendar (hence 'lunar' new year), not the Western calendar. It usually starts somewhere in either late January or early February. (I've lived in Hong Kong all my life and celebrate the Lunar New Year every year.)

It's true though that some companies in Mainland China do close up early for Lunar New Year as it's one of the few big holidays they have. The other being Golden Week in October. Golden Week starts on 1 October which is China's National Day. This one is on the same day every year.

 

@namika ah thank you for explaining. I knew it could shift around a bit but i've never been sure just how much. It's interesting that the companies seem to pick whatever days they want though lol. Another company just announced their break and it was different from previous ones so *shrug*

In any case i did actually get a new update today saying it's outbound! So i guess it was just backlogged. I'll update once it's here!
