Oh well it's not too bad of a wait, I just hadn't realised ;P

 

it was shipped on 29.06, box of 6 dolls.
we ordered with friends and while waiting, devided them, so I am hoping for smiling one

 

I got my order today! No photos yet sadly, I actually didn't take box opening pictures, because instead I did it on video call with my order-partner.

We got very lucky! There was one sculpt we both wanted, and we happened to get that one as our duplicate, which is so lucky. It means we both got everything we wanted out of the order!

Here's a little personal quick mini-fire reviewish-thoughts, if anyone is interested:

Pros:

• The resin is way better in person I feel. Photos made it look shiny and waxy and translucent, but what we got was opaque and matte and smooth. We're both pleased by this.
• Similarly photographs don't show how cute some of the faces are in person! We were both a bit unimpressed by the shark face in photos, but IRL it's adorable.
• The silicone kip included on the neck is much appreciated. Very few companies add that sort of thing, but it makes a big improvement to posing on almost every doll, so it's great that it's here.

Biggest pro:

• All of us who want a lalafell? Here are perfect lalafell.

Cons:

• The hands have virtually no movement. The wrists can twist, but bending makes almost zero difference. This is potentially pretty limiting long term, especially with their splayed look, so I know that at least for me, I'm going to have to look into replacements with more versatility and wrist mobility.
• There's some pretty heavy marbling of colour/uneven sanding. For how cheap they are, I don't think you can expect otherwise, but I can imagine this is going to be a problem when it comes to dyeing them.
• Official photos of them avoid some of the more extreme angles like 3/4 and top/bottom views, and having them in hand I can see why. Unfortunately there are definitely a couple of fairly unflattering angles because it turns out the faces are actually quite flat - another thing that can be kind of limiting.

Not-quite-a-con:

• We weren't given ANY decal/water slide sheets with ours. Neither of us are really bothered since neither of us wanted to use those anyway, but it did seem a little bit odd. Fair warning that your order may or may not come with them!

(these are my thoughts/experience, yours may differ!)

 

The one with the very gentle expression! It's a very nice serene little face.

As for the hands, it's the usual issue any BJD with immobile hands has. The wrist ball sinking too far into the socket, the bar for the s-hook being too shallow instead of deep, etc. In addition, an actual ridge on the arm socket would have helped, but it doesn't have that either. The best way forward would be an additive mod to deepen the wrist-ball, but colour-matching that and making it look normal and not like a weird elongated wrist will be the issues. I'm ordering some different hands myself instead, because the splayed hand position isn't something I can really use in anything other than one singular pose anyway!

I plan to only keep one of them! It will likely be the one with the serene little face. My other two are the vampire teeth one, and the little surprised face one. Surprised face is a maybe, but vampire teeth will definitely be going. My pal and I were laughing about how we've ended up with all these dolls - since we were part of that first order almost a year ago, we genuinely thought the big box of 6 might be the only chance to get the sculpt we wanted! It's pretty wild that they've since reopened orders multiple times across two dealers, with the options to purchase specific sculpts too.

On the plus side though, I believe they're keeping all three of theirs now? So more of our box of six have been homed than we originally expected.

 

I got 1 doll in the blind box I am hoping I get a purple one, but I'll be happy even if not.

 

Just yesterday the parcel started tracking! It is in our country now. Maybe in few days it will finally arrive

The news of this being moved to off topic was a bit of a surprise! I hope they're able to obtain proof soon. I haven't been waiting as long as most of you, so I don't know if mine will be shipping in September or not. I've never had a yosd before, so I'm glad there is this cheaper option to try out. I bought a pukipuki a while ago (haven't received it yet). I guess I'm in my small doll era.

We got our parcel on Monday, unboxed yesterday aaand here is mine!

14 mm eyes, 7inch wig, YoSD dress from another doll and Souldoll "sweetest" shoes fit her feet perfectly.
almost everything is temporary untill I make\find proper ones, now just want her to stand near me on table

 

i so badly want my little one i'll have to gamble on getting the sculpts i like secondhand/trading i guess, i don't want to order yet another one when my first hasn't even shipped yet!

i just recently ordered the type A doll from My Dollection and i couldn't be more excited! seeing everyone's pictures is so fun!

 

Yay for dyeing! I was thinking about this again tonight, as I decided to do some impromptu modding. I think the dolls are adorable, but working on mine meant I saw gouges and uneven sanding and marbling even closer than I had before. I can tell that dyeing is going to be enough of an issue that I may need to consider spray painting instead.

Haha no screenshots, sorry! I use the dreaded M-word, so my character can have story appropriate NPC clothes for immersion, but if you have engaged with ffxiv community even on the fringe, you will have seen the witch hunts going down. For safety reasons, I won’t be showing the character or saying her name or any details about her!

I had a perfect wig for her which I have had for years, for a previous shell of the character, but this doll’s head is too big for it and the company that made the wig shut down. I’m pretty disappointed. It’s such a fantastic wig. I’m gonna have to look into my options for a new one, but I feel they might pale in comparison!

i regrettably didn't order the gift bag with her so i still have to pick out a wig, clothes, etc. i'll probably wait till i get her to choose things so i don't order anything before i know her character!

 

You can make another order and put "Please combine with order [put previous order number here]" in the notes. I did this to get vampire baby and three gift bags to go with my other two I have ordered.

 

I ordered a type A, because I just love the smirk face! I also decided to get a random garden series one with a face-up, just because doing one face-up is enough for me. It’s too exhausting for me to do another, but I am excited to see how it turns out!

Since even the LOL OMG dolls are starting to grow on me, I guess I can live with flat faces. XD

 

@Snowy : they all look amazing! i actually saw your posts on instagram of them and i love it! so excited to get mine my personal favorite is the loot goblin, she's adorable!!

and if it's true that there's a series with animal features coming... that would be my weakness i'll keep an eye out for any news!

 

I've got 2 of these now. And I have to say I got one with a custom face up from a friend and the other I put the decals on and the decals are very..... Meh? My custom one on the other hand is absolutely adorable. And I've named her Sharkie. The other one has no name.

If they do release some with animal features I’ll just have to give in and buy. That’d be so cute!

 

Oh no, I thought I was safe since their next set didn't really catch my eye, but I might be in for another one or two (or more) if this happens.

 

I actually ended up selling off the decal head but I used the body as a hybrid with my Dollzone Honey head I got and it is the most adorable hybrid ever. I'm so in love with her.

Definitely keeping an eye on this thread - I bought two of these secondhand recently, and am waiting for them to arrive. But I'm also itching to buy the new blind box. They're such cuties!! I love seeing the accounts of dyeing them, too!

I'm wandering around the internet looking for face-up inspo for them as well, I love seeing the pictures~

 

Their heads are adorable, tho I can't stop myself from making hybrids with them so far haha!

 

I started making face-up and it is not that easy 0_o
I did a lot of face-ups for my dolls, but they were more "classical" and anime-style is new to me.
But I really like how it is coming out so far *__*

Mine is not yet here either. My Dollection did state that they'll ship from September, but that could still mean anything...I have such a cute outfit prepared, I would like her soon.
