February 2011 Volks Tokyo Bay Cruise - Limited SD17 Reisner

The big difference between original Reisner / Reisner Scarface and the one of this cruise is the new knee design of the SD17 body. That's all (from what we know now).

Yep, Volks has changed/ updated their resin recently, and it's more pinkish now.

Also Reisner and Alain are old now, the resin has yellowed with time and exposition to air...

 

Well in fact, according Cassiel Database, it seems Volks has used the pureskin from 2003-2004... I think it's in 2006 that they have upgraded it to Pureskin UV protected...

 

Ugh, so many other companies base their Resin comparisons to that of Volks!

VolksUSA members are not eligible to enter the ticket lottery, am I right? Since I didn't see an entry for international members on volks site.

I have no pirates, I wish I'd stop falling in love with all the outfits. Reisner's is really cool this time around, as are both SD17 Williams's . . .

ETA Volks VS/VIP members, which are Japan-based memberships. For the Kobe cruise, I'm pretty sure the participants from the US asked to be allowed to go. It wasn't announced on the US site beforehand. If anyone wants to try to go from the US or elsewhere, I'd get in touch with Volks US and ask as soon as you can.

Also, on the two cruise sessions, I'm not sure to what degree they'll up the number of Reisners, as you can apply to go to both cruises (although you can't double up on Reisners). So a certain amount of people will be repeats anyways.

My roommate's original run Reisner, who she's had since his release, is still the same colour as my 2009 Michele and a 2010 FCS body. The only real colour difference in recent memory is the UV protect pureskin dolls are slightly paler than non-UV protect pureskin. Any other colour differences really are from yellowing and other environmental factors.

I sort of hope they don't do SD17 Cecile. You don't need to be ungainly tall to look older and I like height variations. Makes the BL pairings look nicer, and shorter Cecile is totally the top for emo Williams.

My Alain's head is off to a mod artist, and when he comes back, I hope he's been cleaned thoroughly so I can compare again. Same here. Most of my Volks dolls are about the same color; except for a few older doll heads I bought second hand (Emma for example)

Ladislas is SD13 Williams from the original release and I have him on the very first SDGr body from Ryoya and I do not notice a significant color different.

(My Reisner v 1.0 is also Alain body and the resin color matches as well)

Ladislas is definitely the most handled Volks doll from my crew (not counting the Yo Army who get tossed around here). Rest tends to stay in their boxes so I am pretty sure that helps keep the resin color as clean and original shade as possible.

I have not noticed any "pink" shade in any of my recent new Volks dolls.

There's a seller in the MP selling an SD13 Williams head and shows pics of that Williams alongside an SDGr Ryoya Konoe. The colors are different. >.> That's what happen with my Alain and my Ryoya. The colors are just different. =A= My Alain is the same color as my Peroth head and my Ryoya is the same color as my friend's Iple House Gentle Soori... >.<

 

That's because I hate to say it but yellowing has happened. Volks has not significantly changed their resin colour since the switch to UV protect pureskin, so older dolls that don't match current Volks are due to yellowing and aging. My Peroth head has a Volks body that he matches perfectly because it's older and has mellowed along with him. Still, he's not that much different in colour from my newer Volks dolls and with a faceup the difference is hardly noticeable.

 

That's what I mean... >.< I don't agree with some people who say Volks dolls can retain their skin color, because even Volks dolls can yellow in time... That's also why I don't want to buy the older versions of Reisner because it must have yellowed significantly and won't par with my new Williams. >.> I'm picky with resin color differences...

 

Well in fact Volks do retain the same resin color : it's only time and exposition to light that can makes a difference.

Theoratically, if you have keep your doll in the dark and haven't played with them outside (and so on...), they will match perfectly the newer ones. But what's a point in having bjd if we can't play with them everywhere we like, right ?

I've just received today a new sd13 girl body (2010) for my Anais 2 head (2004), and the match is just... perfect !

 

Like I said previously, my roommate has had her original Reisner since his release and he's stayed the same colour and matches my newer Volks dolls just fine. I personally find Volks resin to be very consistent over time, so I would not expect all Reisner's to have yellowed to a drastically different colour if anti-yellowing precautions have been taken with them. YMMV

For the sunset cruise it's 12,000 and 15,000 for guests. For the night cruise, it's 14,000 and 17,000.

If they come out with another scarface Reisner, I would think that you'd be able to sell the regular Reisner easily enough so you could get the scarred version. There aren't many sure-sell dolls left these days, but I think Reisner definitely fits that category.

Also, it may reduce the violence level in your home .

It's optional. You can go into a lottery to get one if you want to, but you don't have to get it.

Well, a pair of Zoukimura eyes have always been over $100; so this is about half of that for one special blind eye.

But again, it is an optional item and unless you want to open the blind eye on Reisner there is no need to purchase that. In the past for Japanese residents Volks offered Satogaeri service to open the blind eye for people who wanted it and the service is about Y3000 or Y3500

High quality glass eyes are often more expensive than urethane. I've certainly spent close to $100 on a pair, and I've seen ones priced at around $120. So this price makes sense for half a pair of Zouks to me, especially as it's such a limited offering.

Hrm. I keep expecting to see limited outfits or something, but when I look at the Kobe cruise I see that they were High Mode competition outfits. I wonder if they won't be offering anything this time. The Kobe outfits were awesome though *sigh*.
