SD13 Elizabeth was my favorite. It's crazy they waited 20 years to release this character they made up for the storyline! It was a very exciting release, even if I bought her brother and not her

My favorite moment was receiving a handmade photobook/zine I had contributed to! It's one of my top precious possessions now. I hope my mother never finds it!

Edit: I just realized Elizabeth was released last year!! Don't tell Mother SD I made such a fatal mistake

 

Definitely the re-release of Fairylands Pukipuki line

I bought a fair bit of clothes during the black friday sales that have started coming in. Ive missed that magical feeling in the hobby and thats exactly what I got when I dressed them in their new outfits (even if they are far from finished )

Edit: When I opened my Pukipuki Pongpong, I didnt know whether Id like the size or not but the second I saw her I fell in love. She was an unexpected favorite and I feel so inspired by her And I went to my first ever meetup which was a ton of fun!

 

I'm going to sound like a broken record but favourite release = Dream Valley Dragon, favourite personal purchase = Dream Valley Dragon, favourite doll moment this year = getting my dragon (so, like, five days ago)

 

My favorite release was Coral reef mie-mie! I missed her release but managed to snag a blank doll that should be shipping soon!
My favorite personal purchase is my Dearmine Blooming Eve.
My favorite doll moment this year was going to Japan and buying some dolls there (the above Dearmine doll was part of that).Truly my most prized souvenirs~

 

What was your favorite doll release in 2024? (Doesn't have to be something you bought) I would say when Dollstown re-released both the Hue and Mui heads in a slightly bigger size.

What was the favorite doll-related purchase you made? (No matter how small or big): Buying my Hue head from Dollstown and finding a great deal for a 18 Yr boy body by DT from a seller here on DOA. He came together perfectly. I also got Mui,. but he is a Christmas gift from husband, so have to wait to get him on the 24th.

And lastly, what was your favorite doll moment this year? When daughter found not one but 2 of these mazing chairs that I already had two of but wanted more for my bigger doll.

Well, uh, I have not really been active in the hobby this year. I have no idea what new dolls were released and I didn't buy any "new sculpts" just a few second hand heads at the very beginning of 2024. My favorite purchase was the Switch Ryun head (even though I thought I was keenest for Soseo and got him too) and I think my favorite moment I remember was after putting the Ryun together and sewing for him a bit, the photo shoot on the bay in Corpus Christi and how those photos came out.
A runner up memory is that I brought home Soseo and painted him up, then a friend got one, then I saw another and I kind of felt like I brought Soseo back to popularity which is good because he is such a charming face

 

My Favorite release was of course Dream Valley's Griffon dragon which also happens to be my favorite purchase.

Runner up is my Dream Valley Fawna and Doll Zone Shadow.

 

What was your favourite doll release in 2024? Heaven Official's Blessing (天官赐福) Comic versions of Hua Cheng & Xie Lian by Ringdoll. I did not buy these but I love the donghua and the manhua, they are one of my favorite denmei couples. I didn't buy them because I would want them both fullset, and my dolls are all more modern. I would want to leave them fullset to admire them, and I am running out of doll room.

What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made? For me this is just being able to get some of the dolls that I had on my list. This year I was able to purchase a few dolls that I had on my wish list. Being able to check these off my list makes me very happy. It makes me feel as if I accomplished something pushing forward in this hobby. I am actually happy that I did not stray from my list as well.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year? Probably when my grail Tristan (Soom Gluino) arrived in January. It kind of set the pace for the whole year, because it happened in January. It's been very nice though, to look over all year and see my grail doll sitting there and know that I finally have him and can stop obsessing about something I don't have, and instead obsess about something I do have!

Going to the add to the Dream Valley chorus and scream dragon, dragon, dragon. He's exactly what I wanted and easily the crown jewel of my collection, even if wrangling him into poses can be tiring. It's just such a good, detailed, expressive sculpt and was a joy to decorate, and a further joy to pose and photograph.

 

My favorite release this year was/is Joydoll Jacob, who I was fortunate enough to purchase! True aquiline noses are so rare in this hobby, so it's really neat to see small doll makers branching out and trying different facial structures.

My favorite purchase this year was Dollfie Dream Anthy Himemiya. I can't believe I'm fortunate enough to own such a beautiful girl!

My favorite doll moment this year was getting to send my grail girl, Aiyu, out for a new faceup. I'm so excited to finally, finally be pampering my most special and favorite doll!

Favorite release this year has probably been Dollmore's Trinity Mio, she looks so lovely. I doubt I'll ever add her to my collection because of her price and size, but never say never, I guess

It's hard to choose just one favorite purchase for this year! I think it's a tie between Huajing Andy, and Illua Lillia. I'm so happy to have bought both of them!

Favorite moment was definitely when Lillia arrived. I think Lillia is my favorite sculpt of all time, and I've been borderline obsessed with her ever since I saw photos of her for the first time. So yeah, I was beyond happy when I managed to snag her second hand from a local collector ^^

 

My favorite doll release was Irrealdoll's Nell, especially in the melon skin. My favorite purchase was a Resinsoul An on the Wu body in dark tan resin, and my favorite doll moment was being able to put together Laios, who is off-topic, in her little wolf outfit.

 

What was your favourite doll release in 2024? (Doesn't have to be something you bought) I loved seeing the new Teacup sculpts from DoDollsDream, as well as the latest Harucasting release.

What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made? (No matter how small or big) I thrifted a $3 dress for my as-of-yet nameless girl (pictured)

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year? I was given this Doll Leaves Ida (my first BJD) by a Buy Nothing neighbor

I think my favorite release was Dream Valley Velarde with his lizard feet and arms. I didn't buy him, since part of how I enjoy my dolls is sewing clothes for them, and he'd be even more difficult to sew for than some of the Dream Valley dolls I already own.

Its a tie between Creatures Dolls Absinthe and Fairyland Minifee Dreaming Dark Elf Soo.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
Finding out there will be a BJD convention in NYC early next year and buying tickets! It'll be my first convention and I'm so excited!

 

Favorite Doll Release? That dragon everyone loves but I didn't buy one yet hahaha.

Favorite Doll-Related Purchase? Hmm I guess buying my Fairyland Nuia. I've bought a bunch of clothes too but I need to try them on.

Favorite Doll Moment? Going to a local group's meet up a few times!

 

I've never been a huge fan of any particular company before, but everything dollzone has released this year has been so beautiful and up my alley and just dream dolls for me. I don't have the money to buy any of their full sets unfortunately, but I've found myself just staring at the promo pictures for their doll "moon" quite often this year just in love ^^ so I'd have to say that's my favorite release even if I didn't buy it.

My favorite purchase was the Lingyi head from Alberich, it's such a unique design and exactly what I'd been looking for in the size I wanted! I'm so excited to see it in person eventually~

 

I don't purchase BJD anymore, yet I still enjoy browsing; my favorite releases this year, were DollZone's newest tallest male dolls. I've always had a soft spot for them, although I only own ancient earlier DZ sculpts. If they were tinier, but still the same exact proportions (maybe shorter legs), I would be in trouble (good thing tiny mature dolls are not popular, in the BJD world!).

My favorite (personal) doll moment this year, was discovering I am still able to do additive mods, on even my tiniest dolls! I was able to mod my tinier BJD this year, that I own right now, and that made me extremely happy. Growing old is a royal pain in the lower back, but I was able to (crappily, but still sharable) mod the eyes on my only mature tiny resin BJD, twice! Despite my shaky hands of death. Lol! I made a few other things for that doll as well (wigs and clothes, and half-6ssed attempts at his ghoul mask), after a million years of not working on my larger BJD. Which then sparked my interest in working on my larger BJD, but I still have yet to work on those, sadly. Hopefully, I'll still have time to get to those soon, I am crossing my fingers I'll get to work on a few before the end of 2024, without feeling like I'm rushing for absolutely no season. DX

We can all ignore the crapfest that are my face ups and just look at the mods. My face-ups haven't improved, in the million years I've attempted painting and repainting tiny things, in the past 20-plus-years. ^.^;;
I'll share my Myou Bettina male with tinier modded eyes (additive mods on lower lid, to make him look more mature and give him narrower eyes). I also modified his nose to be less bulbosy and have deeper nostrils, but it's not so obvious in photos (his face is tiny, despite how giant-headed he is, it gave my finger-cramps, just to work on those just for a few minutes with average sandpaper and patience! old-fart-problems! Lol!).

He is wearing the same exact pair of 9mm glas eyes from MYou, in all these. The first photo are his default eyes, and my first face up on him. The second photo is the temp mod I did, with a first-time-use-for-me, material that is meant as filler for scale models. Then the last are the "permanent" mods with Aves Apoxie Sculpt. Now I am just itching to work on my giant BJD, as giant as I am willing to go, for heavy resin dolls (I'm too old/weak for anything heavier!)...

 

This was the year I joined the hobby and of course my beloved Mina is my favorite
As for releases, probably Unicorn Beetle. There's also Loong Soul Gu Shu Shi which is a really striking fullset. I hope someone here ordered these dolls and will share pictures!

Quite main stream but...
- Maybe Volks x BTSSB : I don't collect larg doll, but this collaboration made me see many possibility about their future release.
- Fairyland newest release is also very stunning.

Of course...
- My two new dolls!
I didn't purchase any new doll for quite sometime so 2024 is a bit special, and none of my choices disappointed me yet.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
- June trip to Kamakura? The september moon festival? Or maybe the trip to Kyoto?... There're plenty of them.

Dollmore Night Terrors: Vian. I LOVE the Vian sculpt. It's naturally a bit creepy, but this release is even better.
It's just perfect all around.

2D GuoGuo - but she's my only doll related purchase this year, so choosing wasn't that hard.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
This is probably funny to some people, but I took off a doll's head for the first time this year to change eyes!
It was definitely memorable to me. I put this off for way too long...

Favourite doll release: probably Dollzone Light, because holy heck, that was exactly what I needed for my council of Lords of Hell—whuch seems contrary given that he looks like an Angel, but there’s a method to the madness somewhere.

Best doll purchase: à really repetitive answer would be Light, and I do feel pretty good about bringing him home. A less repetitive answer is my latest RRabbit clothes order! I’m very excited to bring in some new pieces for my dolls to wear. Valentine is going to look great when he plunders half the stuff I bought.

Favourite doll moment this year: when I finished the dye, mod, wing attachment and all that for Ilya, and I got to see him come together perfectly. He has his wings, he’s taken over a fullset outfit, and it feels like he’s perfect now.

It's probably going to be the Peakswoods Gons and Crows, specially Dark Elf Goldie and Lala Crow. But I also really liked the moth girl Dream Valley released!

What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made? (No matter how small or big):

Definitely purchasing my Do Dolls Dream Charlotta! I've been wanting one of her dolls for many years, and I was finally able to swing the preorder this time around.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?

Attending Doll Con Dallas! It was first doll convention (and convention in general), and it was really fun meeting artists and collectors irl. I want to go again maybe next year, but I'm not certain since I don't live in Texas anymore! I'll have to check plane cost.

My favorite would be the Dream Valley Ghost Moth. I wanted to buy her so much, but alas, money. She looks so cool, and I can't wait to see what she looks like in person!

Oh tough one, especially since I just got into the hobby this year. I think I'm going to have to go with the Youpla Ruka. She is the first doll that called out to me and insisted upon being in my home. I can't wait to have her here!

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?

Joining up with my local community! There's a lot of awesome bjd enthusiasts in my city, and they're so nice and welcoming! I've really loved becoming a part of their group.

 

My favorite doll release is the Xagadoll conjoined twins, Boye and Sila. It's extremely rare that I impulse buy new releases, but I think I bought them within 15 minutes of seeing them. I missed out on the Doll Chateau conjoined twins years ago and never found them secondhand, always regretted not buying them when I could have, but I like this set even better and could not let them get away!

Favorite purchase this year is pretty much impossible for me to say, there was so much good. Maybe Bren's Luts Senior Delf body? Maybe my Gen-X Mina? Maybe my ResinSoul Cen? Maybe my Dollmore Zaoll Ramie? Maybe Cooper's (Migidoll Yujin) 8th head? Maybe that secondhand suit that fit Bren like it was tailored just for him? I....really don't know!

Favorite moment, again, is hard. So many good times, but I think remodeling my doll room was a HUGE accomplishment, as I went from having around 15 dolls crowded and piled on top of each other and feeling overwhelming to having display space for 30+ dolls and looking nice! I finally found the secret to enjoying a large number of dolls and not wanting to sell anybody, and it was so simple: ORGANIZE PROPERLY! And cube bookcases and floating shelves are your friend (if you live in a place where you're free to put them on the wall).

 

Favourite doll release ... Joydoll is my favourite doll sculptor and I was delighted to see her release of Jacob and Jose.

Favourite purchase ... If I only count things I bought AND received this year, it's the Volks SDGrB hands that I bought to hybrid to Vallant (Kanadoll Mars on DF-H 65cm boy). I never liked his default DF-H hands so I went on a hybriding quest, and found that SDGrB hands fit him perfectly. When I put those hands on him, I felt a sense of completion - I finally have the doll I always envisioned, and he looks perfect now.

Favourite doll moment... I have two.
One was finally receiving Bimong Narin68. It was a very long preorder saga and I'm thrilled and relieved that my doll is home now.

The other favourite moment was my dolls being part of wedding photos. I wrote a little bit about it here, but basically, my sister was getting married, she asked me to dress my crew and put them on display as part of the celebration. The wedding photographer apparently liked my dolls and took pics of them, so they ended up in the final photography selection. I was very touched that my sister (who's completely not a doll person) asked me to include my dolls in her special day.

Dream Valley Ghost Moth girl, hands down. I cannot wait to have her in hand and work on her.

A tie between DV Ghost Moth and the Acorn Doll ChaCha head(s). Love at first sight for both, and first doll purchases since I considered my collection complete, 4 years ago.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
Receiving the CoralReef Jiu Er Mao 1/3 Girl Body that I choose to hybrid with the ChaCha head, and discovering the amazing poseability, engineering, and quality and beauty of that body. Just incredible. It knocked my socks off. BJD bodies have come a long way since I got into the hobby 15 years ago!

 

What was your favourite doll release in 2024?
This is such a hard question! I think I'll tentatively say my favorite release is Devotion Doll's Mini Bite, but there's always something incredible coming out it feels like!

What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made?
This is a really hard question too! I think probably buying Isshō, my secondhand MSD Schulze. He was just such an unexpected purchase and has been bringing me a lot of joy! He honestly kind of brought me back to resin after spending most of the year more focused on vinyl dolls.


And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
This is the first year since I graduated college, and the first year I've had a job and disposable income. So just being able to work towards my doll goals is such a huge thing for me! For a more specific moment...anytime I feel like a doll gets "fully put together" with the correct wig and eyes and a set of clothes, it brings me so much joy.

 

What was your favourite doll release in 2024? (Doesn't have to be something you bought) My favorite, unpurchased, doll released in 2024 would have to be the Shirakawa_doll Ruo Kui Moth. The sculpting, the whimsy, it was just an adorable little doll all around!! I didn't think it would fit in my collection, but I loved seeing it!


What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made? (No matter how small or big) My favorite doll related purchase has to be bringing home the closest thing I had to a grail, a DiM Fenris head. I never imagined that I'd be able to get one, and I'm so excited to have him home!! I just recently got his body in and I have so much to do!!!

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year? My favorite doll-centered experience would have to be finding the local BJD group and attending a monthly meetup! I was worried at first, but everyone was so lovely to speak to and seeing everyone's dolls in person was such an awesome experience!

- Dream valley dragon griffin, especially the large version. not that I would buy ( too big). but I looks so god, must have been a headache to make.

- Got Linzy (souldoll) from DDE in stock, missed her preorder ( forgot the end date for ordering), was so happy when I open her home, she vas all I wanted and more and the color is so lovely. She is stil one of my favorit at the moment.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
- Moving to a bigger apartment and got a cabinet for my dolls. Now I have space for them all and can se them. That have really help handle them a lot more and it really given me so much joy! .

I've been loving what Dream Valley's been cooking up with the dragon and the ghost moth. Did I buy anything from them? No, but I enjoyed seeing them and did convince a friend to get the dragon! I'm excited to see what's in store with them.

What was the favourite doll-related purchase you made? (No matter how small or big)
Getting my MDR Fang was a delight, but man, getting her wig and confirming that I really like the look and feel of the material (synthetic mohair) was a game changer. I recently ordered a couple wigs to start replacing the heat resistant fiber ones the others in my crew have.

And lastly, what was your favourite doll moment this year?
Going to a doll meet! I was afraid there wasn't a community near me and I was gladly proven wrong.
