Fantasy Doll - General Discussion

May 20, 2007

1. hmm this is getting suspicious. But i wonder why hasn't anyone said anything about it? I meant just recently, all this stuff appears o.o

hmm

2. Indeed. :|

I have a couple of their bods, and I like them... I was delighted to find decent-looking bodies that actually matched the resin and the scale of my smaller CP heads.

If these guys turn out to be rats, I'm going to be seriously ticked. :x

3. Oh my at those hands x_x Had I seen these pictures earlier, I sure would have re-thought of purchasing that Fdoll girl body! But it's too late when I have the body in my post office...*sigh* Oh well, such is life sometimes :/

4. When the girl was released months ago, they did a few big group orders that took several weeks to fill up, and then a month to manufacture and then ship. Buyers have only started to receive them recently, even though they went for sale in July.

I was planning on ordering a body, but the similarities and lack of owner photos made me wait. People probably didn't come out before because they were afraid of rushing in and looking mean.

5. spottyjane>> ah i see.

i hope things clear out soon =/

6. I got Tobias last week, and I adore him. His face is very, very beautiful (by the way, I have to say for me he doesn't look like his official photos - on them he seems much more, well, innocent - but I don't mind at all :)) His body is nice, and I really like his skin color (normal skin) - warm and ivory. He is over-tight, it's true, but I don't think it's a big problem.
Here are some photos:

It's him together with Domuya's Zen - i don't think Tobias look inferior or anything:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v159/Juxian/PA130068.jpg

On the last two pics you can see his body but warning: they contain frontal nudity and, probably, suggestive pose:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v159/Juxian/PA150014.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v159/Juxian/PA150045.jpg

7. I think it is impossible to say, yet, when we cannot see/feel those two side by side. Fantasydoll seems thinner and not as "round", and there is not usually as much variation in tiny scale than for example in SD-sized bodies. For example my Dollzone BB has similar body structure as well :)

8. the photo with cp hands and fdoll hands comparsion really shocked me > <

Maybe we need someone to place side by side, examine and confirm that.

LiTigre: i can understand that! it's not the dolls themsevles and owners, they are totally innocent. It's the person who sculpt them that are responsible for it.

9. Hmm i think they can't ban Fdoll stuff in here cause loads of people already have their f-dolls.

But this is seriously suspicious!

10. Meeve: I can totally confirm, without a doubt, that that left hand is exactly the same as the CP hand. I even took them to work and would hold them out to random coworkers and ask them to look at the hands and tell me what they saw. They'd look at them and go "they're the same hand just in different colors." Sadly, because they know nothing about these dolls, the fact that they're manufactured by two different companies makes the impact of the similarities practically null.

My digital camera is total crap, but here are the photos that I took outside, no flash. CP on the left (BW), Fdoll on the right (NS)

[IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

They are completely identical... save for the poor quality at the wrist, and the S hook is on backwards.

11. That doesn't matter a bit, unfortunately... DoA can ban whoever they want for copying, no matter how many people already own them.

12. Well, I guess no Nina for me..I'll have to look at AoD 1/3 bodies instead...

13. Well...before leaping to the conclusions that they're copying, does anyone have comparison pictures of the bodies between Fdoll, CP and Bambicrony? Or is it just the hands that everyone is talking about? Also, what about the other hand? Are they similar as well?

About the hands...I can quite honestly say that if I ask anyone on my corridor about any doll hands, most of the hands will look the same to them. I'm not saying that the hands don't look alike, but I am saying that to someone outside the hobby, even the doll sculpts mostly look the same, let alone the hands. Someone who's not familiar with the hobby won't make much of a judge for this matter.

14. Yep. I just unwrapped the hands that came with Autumn's bod and compared them to the CP hands that I have on Sannru and it's a match.

I am not a Happy Camper.
That's just... stupid of them. >_<

I'm not going to toss out the FD bods that I already have. That would be a waste... But I'm certainly not going to be getting any more of the things, and I'm not going to suggest them to anyone else looking for BW bods the match their CP heads.

Yes, one copied hand is a minor thing, but it's still annoying.

ETA: The other hand isn't a match for any of the CP girls I have here, but I don't have examples of every hand set, so I can't say for sure. 8P

Bod-wise... I don't know about the Tinys, but the 1/3 scale bods are similar in style to the CP bods, but I don't think they're recasts. There are some pretty substantial differences in the shape of the joints (the elbows particularly-), and the proportions are a little different. I'd say that they were certainly "inspired by" the CP bodies, but I seriously doubt that they're copies.

15. That's good to know at least.. thanks Brightfires. ^^

16. Min~Min: thanks for the comparsion > < I'm 100% convinced that the hands are exactly the same.

I found this link that some may want to look at the comparison between fdoll and cp body
http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149208

Even one can say that they are 'inspired by' by cp bodies, have the same bubble butt and all except the arms and joints and torso joint or it seems like a modified version of cp body.... in terms of art, isn't that plagiarism??????
I'm very annoyed by the copied hand, will never deal with them and will advice my friends not to, if possible.
There are company like Angel of Dream that doesn't copy, B&G also doesn't.

17. Man this seriously sucks. .__.

I'm going to get B&G WS bods for my WS nanuri next time =A=

18. I guess you've got to see them eye to eye, but they're different widths, an Fdoll is far skinner than a CP, the butt isn't bubbly at all, except from behind XD
The CP body is far more attractive, lol.

But man. This is crap. Copying a hand is enough to turn me right off, let alone the CP similarity and rep they have.

19. Exactly... They have a similar over-all style, but side-by-side, there are enough differences that they really don't trip any "OMG!RECAST!OMG!COPY!!11!"-alarms.

As an aside, there's a matter of degree involved when it comes to having one design inspired by another. Just taking inspiration from existing work to make something of your own or producing something in a style similar to something else isn't in the same league as full-out "plagiarism??????"... If it was, there would be an awful lot of people in very hot water. (She says, listening to a recording of Beethoven's variations on a theme by Mozart. )

That said... The hand business is enough to make me give them the hairy eyeball from here on out. There's just no excuse for that.

20. Hello everybody,

This is Michael. I am the Fantasy Doll owner. What has been discussed on this thread came to me as a surprise too. I would like to let everyone know the following:

1) We hired a molder/designer to work on Nina and Tobias. He left Fantasy Doll at the end of June, and subsequently moved to Shanghai.
After I learned the fact from this thread that Nina's left hand is a copy, I tried, and made contact with him. His explanation was he didn't copy other company's doll's hand, and did not use other company hand as an example. But since he's BJD collector and worked for other BJD companies before, his design would look similar to others.

2) I am very upset and angry about this myself, and his "explanation"
is not a satisfactory one. We never wanted to copy anyone's work, and we don't agree with the practice. That's because we know our customers care very much about originality, and despise copying of other people's work. We didn't realize what was going on, partly because we are not familiar with every doll out there. When the previous designer finished his work, we didn't know it was a copy of another doll. We are a young company and we really appreciate this forum bring situations like this to our attention

3) Since this thread been brought to our attention, we have already to have our current designer to create with new hands. We want to correct this mistake.

Thanks!

21. <3 that's really responsible of fdoll, i think.

22. I'm currently waiting for CP Delf El head to arrive -- but his body is going to be my FDoll Tobias's body. If anyone still needs Luts +FDoll comparison in a couple days, just Pm me!! ^_^

23. Thank you so much for your response, Michael. This is very reassuring. ^^ It's good to know that you're so willing to fix this issue.

24. Thank you Micheal, I think you have sold me on getting an f-doll body.

25. Fantasy Doll sounds like a wonderful new company, in my opinion... I've been considering buying a body from them recently and Micheal's honesty is very reassuring.

26. I have a fantasy doll girl body and I am extremely pleased with it, aswell as the excellent service fdoll provided during my order. The skintone matches my msdoll sujan 95%, which is supposed to be compartable with volks normal skin. Any day now I will be ordering a boy body aswell. I have only positive things to say about fdoll. :)

27. Wow, go Michael! That's awesome news, and I'm really really impressed by his being up front and honest with us. :) With honesty like that, and the already impressive quality of the dolls, I can certainly be proud to be an FDoll owner! :D

28. I just wanted to add that even if I am personally bit disappointed with that leg/feet/hand-thing (because I'm just nitpicky like that), the girl body itself is very nicely shaped and works well with my Musedoll head :aheartbea The neck fits like a dream, and even if there is a resin difference, it probably can be turned okay with some blushing. And the body is in balance with Musedoll's teeny weeny head! There are some posing issues with her arms and knees, but I'm going to try some hot glue and see how that will affect her posing skills. The overall quality of the body is very good for its pricetag :)

29. Just bumping because I have some questions about Fdoll resin quality... not going back into the hand/feet thing, save to say that Michael rocks! XD That's totally awesome of him, to be so honest.

Thinking of buying a Tobias head, possibly for modding. He'd be my first, and while he's desperately in need of a new face-up and the owner says his head cap doesn't fit perfectly, otherwise the owner says he's okay. Would the resin quality be affected at all if I cleaned him up with a magic eraser? And do you think this sounds, well... okay? He'd be my first BJD, so while I'm cautious with what I'm buying, I'm always looking for decent deals... XD

30. the resin is good quality. I've had my Tobias since they came out. His head cap twists on and off easily so I used a bit of blu tack to hold it in place. He has yellowed a bit to be creamy instead of white, but he does sit out all of the time (often naked when I'm sewing for him LOL). You shouldn't have any problems cleaning him as long as you follow the usual procedures for cleaning any resin head.

31. I was starting to get a bit uncomfortable with all the talk of copyright issues and the clear copying of CP hands, especially since I was planning on an FDoll body for my Nanuri. Even though it took place two years ago (XD) I'm thrilled Michael gave us a response and fixed the hand issue.

Chris4u, you mentioned Tobias's arms pose a bit better. Does this mean they aren't floppy and can actually pose decently, or are the arms extremely snappy?

32. PsychoticElflet5- his arms really pose well. For example, he can touch his nose, eyes or forehead holding positions :) , like in this pic

But at the same time, they don't "snap" like Nina's arms tend to do.

33. I'm interested in getting one because they apparently match up with the Migidoll Ryu head that I will be acquiring sometimes down the road.
I was just wondering if the bodies were any good or not, apparently they pose beautifully.
Just want to make the right decision ^^;
thanks :)

34. Hi there!

My Migi boys are on Fantasy Doll bodies and as far as value for money goes, I don't think you can beat them. I got my bodies last year but they were almost perfect matches for the Migidoll resin, both NS and WS.

If you want more reviews try: 2009 Feedback

Pre-2009 Feedback

Good luck!

35. I got an SD size Fantasy Doll body this year, I love it. It is the body for my School C head. It is not perfectly proportioned, but it is a great posing body.

36. Im sold on Fantasy Doll bodies! I think they are a great option for my floating heads. And, you can't beat how reasonably priced they are.

I got an SD sized Normal Pink boy body for my extra CP/Luts Lu Wen head, and a Pure White girl body for my CP/Luts Vampire Dark Elf Soo head. The match to the boy's body is good, but the match to the white skin VDES head is perfect!

37. I'm happy with mine--he's single jointed, but with a three part torso that gives him some good mobility in the upper body.

38. I've been really happy with them; you can buy them in the US through Mint on Card. The boy bodies match CP resin very well, pose and stand nicely as well. The girl bodies are slightly funkier--of the three I have had, all of them won't pose with their knees together, and one was "slappy", though some restringing helped. (I have found they come strung very tightly). The NS keeps it's color well, the WS girl bodies (I have two) one has yellowed to match old CP WS perfectly (almost beauty green) and the other has remained a nice pale ivory color. Both were kept the same and both feel equally heavy and nice to the touch, so I have no idea why the color difference. I prefer the "style" to the Aod and Bobobie 60 cm bodies, but I like the older Luts sculpts, and they complement that smooth style. I have bought Luts hands separately to swap out the FDoll ones because I do find them similar, but the Luts ones are slightly more detailled on the back of the hands.

39. I just recently got an FDoll body for my Luts Moon head. It is an amazing body. I was a little leary at first, but I heard to many good things, and the price is awesome...so I went for it. As soon as he was strung together, he stood right up! <33 I'll have to get pictures of him, ^_^

40. I have an F-doll female body for my CP Nanuri 07 head and the proportions are great, resin match is near perfect, the posing is amazing given the single jointed limbs and the quality for the money you pay is just awesome. I really like that the torso has three joints - I'm a sucker for a doll that can slouch - and I'm considering buying other CP heads and using the F-doll body for them.
I only wish that they made a 70cm body too.

41. I have a FDoll male body for my minimee head... the head is a teeny bit lighter, but his face is blushed a little, and that matches the FDoll resin nicely. I don't think you can really tell too much, and he's going to be dressed most of the time anyway, so it's not a problem for me. Recently, though I switched out my MNM for a Migidoll head and that match is almost perfect. Not sure when the Migi head was made though, I'm not the first owner.

His arms are a little snappy, but after almost a year and a half they're beginning to behave so he can sit with his arms at his sides with little fuss. His knees, however, are really loose, and he often falls out of standing poses if I'm not careful.

Also, what shoes for sure will fit his tiny feet? Everything I've tried is oh so big, and girl shoes just don't suit either of my boys :\

42. I just got a new version female body for my Luts/CP Juri B '07 head. I bought the pink tone and it matches perfectly - aside from the face up I'd given head. xD

I really like the posability of the double joints. Not sure if anyone has this body at all yet since I've not seen it on DOA

43. Bumping this up for some more information on what improvements (if any) have happened as a result of the double jointing. Do the boys' arms still flip up and cross the chest? Any insights gratefulyl received.

44. Don't have a boy, but a girl and her arms do cross her chest when they're bumped. But I think it's just the result of tight stringing.. I can't compare anything to the single-joint body because I never had one.

45. Bumping.

Would like to hear about the improvements to the boy body. Anyone have the Version 2 body?

46. Bumping for V2 boy body reviews :>

47. Oh my, I got one last month from MoC for my A.I.R. head, and I really like it. One thing I know is that it really needed sueding though, because my boy was the tightest flopper I've ever seen when I got him, but now he's so sturdy. I didn't have that problem before when I had the single-joint girl body. What kind of info are you looking for?

48. Pandy, I'd love to see side-by-side posing between V1 and V2, and general pics of his posing capabilities. What part of him was floppy, etc.? Like, the V1 body I have has snappy arms and kicky/loose legs that don't like to stand (will be fine after sueding, I'm sure - just not brave enough to do it yet)... do his knees lock, can he sit on his feet, bring his hand up to his face without help keeping it there, and that sort of thing. If you have a V1 body to compare it with, I'd like to know what's been improved.

Thanks :)

49. I don't have a V1 body anymore, but I used to have a girl one. I'll have to get you a couple performance pictures when I get back home again, because apparently I seem to like only going on DoA at my mom's house. :sweat
As far as floppiness goes, I had to suede every joint. Every joint. His resin was just too smooth and offered almost no friction for him to stand. After sueding, he is like a rock now, but he does have a little bit of an arm snap still. He stands very well, even before sueding, he could stand well before his hips and torso flopped over. He's also got a good range of motion in his arms as well. When he sits down, I have had a little problem getting the elastic to pop into the grooves to let him sit, but I've had that problem with other dolls too. Compared to what I remember about the V1 body, he is maybe more solid than my girl was, and he does have much smoother looking joints and a wider range of motion. So much so that I'm going to get my girl the V2 body as well later in the fall. :aheartbea

I played with him a little bit more, and he can sit on his feet if you fiddle with him. The double-joint allows both his arms and his legs to fold up all the way, so he can also touch his face, no problem.

Sueding is so easy, I wouldn't hesitate to do it. I pliver sueded my boy, the extra friction is so magical. :aheartbea
And he looks cute with my Karsh? Just had to throw that out there. ;)

50. Bump for this thread! I think to get one of this body cuz is very cheap and it look seem that the resin is good quality so, has anybody pictures of a girl body? :3

51. Im curious too :)

• x 1
52. does na V2 girl body sit with closed knees now? my single jointed fdoll body cant do it.

53. They're not flush closed, but they aren't wide spread.

She's kneeling here, but it's the best to show it with her knees properly visible.

54. I got my fdoll girl body (NSP) and Im happy to announce that she can sit with closed knees now ! her arms are skinny and shapeless but she will wear mostly long sleeved clothes so I can live with skinny arms. I put doll family hands on her cause I think her hands are too small, a bit orange but wont be to obvious with clothes on. I haven't received my impldoll head for her hehe. some pics for pose performance also. I love how rounded her legs are, not muscular but feminine looking and her feet are also lady like. resin is so smooth so she is a bit floppy but ill soon fix that. she can stand in high heeled boots so she is stable with no shoes.

55. Yeah I needed to suede her to do anything with her. ^^;;
Without a fight at least.

56. Fantasy doll released one 69cm male "Lionel".

Eyes size 16mm or 14mm.
Wigs:8~9 inch.

57. Wow he is really gorgeous! :aheartbea
