Fantasia Doll Elder/Senior Sizes

Mar 15, 2016

    1. I've been tempted by Canary Smile a lot-- I adore the owner photos I've seen of the older version of her, I liked that the older version was fairly small for an SD, and really, you can't beat that lovely smile. But I am very hesitant to order the new doll- the soft resin issue kinda scares me from a safety standpoint, and I don't like that they've enlarged the head. I wonder why they made such drastic changes, it seemed like the heads were well received as they were before, and since they don't sell heads alone it seems odd to me they'd change the heads so drastically for hybridizing purposes.

Anyway, I love the photos you all have shared because Fantasia does make awesome dolls. But I do hope they go back to the same type of (seemingly more stable) resin they used the first time they were in production, and that they start offering the old style of heads again, because the bulbous skull thing is just not appealing lol.

    2. How long does it takes for Fantasia to reply to an order email? I send an email ordering a body last Sunday but I haven’t gotten a reply yet.

    3. I haven't had a peep out of him since the beginning of March, when he promised my order would ship March 8th (it didn't). His hanmail account is bouncing, and he's not answering his fantasia.doll account. A friend tells me he's not updating his IG either. I'm getting worried, since it's now been 8 months since I ordered. :(

    4. Oh no that’s so sad and bad to hear. I hope you get your body soon. I got a Jupiter body from the marketplace a few months ago and I love it. I really, really wanted a second one. I think I just will have to wait until another pop ups on the marketplace again.

Thank you so much for the info.

    5. I was currently interested in ordering something from Fantasia Doll, but it seems that there hasn't been much communication recently. Should I hold off from ordering for now?

    6. You're welcome, @MrFjmg2003 , I hope I have better news sooner or later! :wantshipping:

@Fuailei personally I'd wait at least until he starts answering emails again.

    7. I don't have photos to provide as my own Vivian has a faceup, but thought it might be of interest for anyone considering an order: they changed OE Vivian's lips for the new release. She how has visibly open mouth, a bit less than Alice, but you can still clearly see in. While, the old Vivian doesn't really have an open mouth, she just has closed lips with a real deep (and nasty to faceup) gap. I really like the renewal, I see if I can snatch the new Vivian head to compare them properly. Here I was, thinking I don't want any of the new heads. Until now. :XD:

I did not at least notice any changes on my old vs new Alice when I had them both, so maybe this was something he specifically wanted to fix on Vivian.

    8. Similar with my friend and me - we ordered three bodies in November. The last promised date was the 26th of April, no answers since that last mail on April 9 th. At that time Iwas also told that they had been hospitalized for the month of march, so I hope they are ok healthwise. But not havin an answer or the promised shipping dates met makes me antsy as well.

    9. @windspiel sorry to hear you're having trouble too. I sympathize with them if they're having health problems, but just a quick update would be nice!

    10. @Alewife thanks for the advice. I guess I’ll be waiting for now.

    11. I haven't posted here in ages, because my Vivian has been on an extended stay with the faceup artist for a total overhaul. She's from the original Fly Me to the Moon release, and had her chin sanded slightly to look less pointy. There was also color-matching done to turn FD Normal into the recent Impldoll RealSkin, which could be classed as a light tan already.

I see though that Fantasia Doll still has some issues with communication. :( I totally get delays due to real-life concerns, but at least a general update would be nice for those who still have outstanding orders.

    12. I gave up, I had to get the new 2021 Vivian head since someone was selling her locally, so here she is:

Not the best photo out here, but see that gap between the lips? It's a deep gap that shows teeth, at least after painting her it will. Also the sculpting around eyes seems smoother than in 2017. So it seems that at least Vivian's master was changed a bit, and not necessarily any worse (apart from size, bleh)! The 2021 faces are pretty much original size, meaning the size increase consists mainly of increasing the headcap and headback, so I thought I could make her closer to the original size by applying Milliput inside her head and sanding her resin very thin at the top, sides and back. If this counts as a reshell, I'll reshell my old Vivian's character. :XD:

For those of you interested, here's the old 2017 Vivian and old lips (which had a significant gap but rather than showing teeth it was just an annoying place to get your pastels stuck in). Old photo, since my Vivian currently has a faceup.

    13. More Vivian (modded old open-eyed version) photo spam. :P I gave her some darker, alternate eyes so she won't look menacing all the time.

    14. Isn't menacing the whole point of her war paint look? Love the darker eyes though, so very pretty

    15. Story-wise, it's as much to pay tribute (to her ancestors) as to intimidate, so it swings both ways. :) Either way, the Vivian sculpt could look so mischievous with the right eyes!

    16. Hey everyone! I’m getting ready to order eyes for my Vivian but I’m a little nervous about picking the right size. Does anyone have any experience with this? What size did you go for?

Edit: she’s from the new batch which I think means her head is a little bigger than the older ones.

    17. My new batch Vivian fits eyeballs at least up to 16mm. Her eyeholes look like she could go even bigger, but that's where my eye sizes run out so not sure. 12mm gaps noticeably, I use 14mm with 5mm (small) iris and they are good, don't gap noticeably and have a proportionate iris size to my liking. I noticed the sizing can vary a lot by maker, but these are Ornellas.

      14/5mm shown in her:

Her head is heavily modded at the top and sides. I've done as I planned earlier on this thread and sanded 1,5 cm off her head girth, so she doesn't look exactly like the new ones do fresh out of box. On another note, in case anybody wondered, it is entirely possible to sand these heads back to 2017 size since the face size has remained the same. Only temples, forehead, top of the head and especially headback have gotten more resin to them. Do I recommend it tho? No, I'm never going to do it again. Whoever's gonna renew my passport this month, I wish them good luck finding any trace of my fingerprints. I don't like wearing a mask for hours, so I did the whole thing by hand, with wet sanding paper, and still have some touching up to do but I wait to grow my skin back first.

    18. Thank you! That’s really helpful. My only other bjd is an msd so I have a limited selection of eyes to try out with her before I buy new ones.

    19. Thought I'd show this quick mobile shot of Jane, the 2021 Vivian, once more after finishing her faceup! I noticed they have pulled her eye sockets deeper in the head by quite a bit from the 2016-2017 release and she has very thick eyelids, meaning eyes have a difficult time showing from there if the light is dim or comes from an odd angle. More modding it is.

    20. @vauhtikatti - Oh she is lovely! Her scar is nicely done...there...but not overpowering.

      • x 1
    21. @luluna thank you! I did Jane's first faceup back in 2019 and decided to just draw a random scar on her. It's funny that since then have redone the character twice and I still don't know what's the story of the scar. Usually my characters are well planned, I know their favourite foods and have a ton of hobby related props for each.

    22. @vauhtikatti - Plans are glorious...but sometimes our resins keep a few mysteries of their own. All good! :)

    23. both your ladies look gorgeous!

Has anyone had any contact with Fantasiadoll/ Uidoll? My friend and I have not received any answer since April, not to mention that we also have not received our orders from November.

      • x 1
    24. A friend of mine was in a similar situation. Fantasia stopped responding to her around April, so she filed a paypal claim. Fantasia never responded to the claim so she got her money back.

    25. Same here, I ordered last September and haven't heard a word since April. At this point I've given up on ever seeing doll or money. Sorry to hear others are having trouble too. :(

    26. It's so sad to hear that despite the renewal, old problems with regards to delivery times and communications came up again. :( Even though fingers are still crossed that all outstanding orders will be fulfilled eventually, looks like the secondhand market would be the way to go if I decide to get another of these dolls.

    27. Hi! Thought of bringing this thread to life again. Those of you who were still waiting on their dolls this summer, did you eventually get the orders or has the company gone under again? I see the site is still up and running, but nothing seems to have been updated since last year (goodness, how fast does a year fly by?)

I'm getting my 2017 "serious" Canary back from PauliAnne's faceup magic workshop soon and she did a lovely job, cannot wait to be photographing my girls again. Now 4/5 of my Fantasia heads have a face and a body. :XD:

      • x 4
    28. I've no idea if they are dead in the water again, but since they released a 70+cm guy this year I'm hoping not. But it wouldn't surprise me either. I've got the Mars body and since I finally added sueding to his hips he finally stopped flopping over backward.

      • x 1
    29. I hope at least they shipped all pending orders and responded to emails if nothing else. Haven't heard of anyone placing an order with them in the last 6 months here or on Instagram, but the thread has been pretty much silent that time.

My Venus body did benefit from hot glue sueding the elbow joints, too, as they lost friction pretty soon after I received her and the arms started just flopping back straight. I didn't end up keeping her, but instead purchased a similarly proportioned (a.k.a. busty) FeePle65 body for my Canary head. F65 hybrids well with the old 2017 heads size wise but the resin match is pretty off between the two NSs, so the head needed to be blushed to match.

    30. I ordered in Sept. 2020, last heard from them April 2021, promising an April delivery. For that reason I let my Paypal window expire, which was my mistake. I never received my order, and they've never responded to any emails. I've given up hope. :(

      edit: correct dates

    31. I still haven't been sent the "free" head from the first preorder despite reminding them and being promised it again. It's not that big of a deal but the flat out lying makes it so that I definitely wouldn't order from the company again.

    32. @Alewife,

I'm sorry to hear you haven't received your doll or a response to your emails. That's tough. I got curious to see how things had gone with the new orders since i had heard that the old ones hadn't gone that well.
I seriously would send at least a couple of emails a week. Perhaps then, they may get a "hint" that it's time to get their behind up and running again. No communication what ever the problem is, is not really an acceptable business practice.

@ronnie92, sorry as well that they did not keep their promise to you about your free head. Unfortunately if they aren't even taking care of the people who paid for their dolls, I see it much harder for them to worry about what they would consider a gift. Which is too bad. Because it's not about free heads but about keeping to their word.

I wish you both the best with them.

    33. That's sad to hear they disappeared again, though not awfully surprising given their history I'm afraid... This thing with leaving existing paid orders hanging is new, though. I hope their creations don't end up banned on DoA as a result of their actions because that would mean half my collection would be banned lol.

I wonder if they went under altogether and just forgot to take the website down or if they're just selectively avoiding communication with some. Meaning, if someone new were to email them to purchase a doll, would they still respond and take the customer's money and would this person eventually get what they paid for? I would try requesting a purchase for research purposes, but I think they'd recognize me by now.

As a more positive thing, here's my 2017 Canary painted! She arrived with a tiny chip on her nose sealant and will travel back to the artist once more for fixing it, hence no gloss or eyelashes, but I can already see her character coming together nicely. She's on a FeePle65 body (head was resin matched and body's neck modded with Milliput to take an ordinary S hook).

    34. @Bren , you're right and I should pursue it some more. I will report back. ;)

      @vauhtikatti your Canary is adorable!

    35. @vauhtikatti, Yes your Canary is lovely. Bummer about the sealent. To me she looks flawless.:3nodding:

I didn't know that when an artist was banned from DOA that the clients were not allowed to show that artist dolls if bought previously. I could see the Artist been banned, but why punish the innocent client? I guess some rules I just don't quite get.

      @Alewife,

      Good Luck. Rooting for you.

      • x 1
    36. @Bren and @vauhtikatti Just for some clarification. If a person or artist is banned from DoA for something other then a doll or dolls being suspected of being recasts, then only dolls created after the person is banned are considered off-topic. So any dolls they created before the ban, and that were deemed to be on-topic before the ban can still be discussed on the board.

      • x 6
    37. Thanks for clarifying that.

    38. @Alewife and @Bren thanks! I edited the photo not to show the shiny nosetip.

And thanks for clarifying @Cloudedmind , seeing as they produce the same sculpts over and over again with teeny tiny alterations that would be something tricky to monitor. hope they would get their business back together and ship what has been promised, though it is looking kind of unlikely at the moment.

    39. @vauhtikatti Yeah, I really wish I'd gotten the original muscle girl body because I'll probably never see one now.

    40. I quite miss the old muscular female body, too (not that I was disappointed with the body my girl ended up using). I am not a big fan of the resulting head-to-body proportions in FD's re-release, unfortunately. Not that I intend to get another of their sculpts brand-new after reading the continuous stream horror stories regarding their customer service.

Here's old modded Vivian from last year. I hadn't taken 2022 photos of her yet, but hopefully that gets remedied soon. :)

    41. I'm really sad I didn't even enter the hobby until the old dolls were gone. I love realistic proportions, I would have loved to get both the muscular and non-muscular old bodies and the old heads.

    42. I feel somewhat guilty that I had a pretty smooth transaction with my Jin (for the most part anyways). I wasn't a fan of the new head/body proportions though, so he ended up hybrided on a different body (I was intending to do so anyways, but it ended being a different one from what I originally planned). It's a shame that their customer service went downhill soon after I received my boy, and that the re-release bodies had such different proportions to their earlier versions. (I ended up selling the body I had, Mars(?), due it not working with the scale of the rest of my crew)

I've since acquired an Isaac from the re-release as well (secondhand), who's become my most recent incarnation of Tahmos. Jin ended up being the perfect shell for Aqqen, Tahmos' partner/lover. I ended up having to do some major noggin surgery (sanding, getting out the dremel—all that good stuff) to reduce that overly bulbous area at the back of the head on both (one of my gripes with the redesigns outside the up-sizing). I also did some minor reshaping of Isaac's nose to fit my image of Tahmos better (I'd actually been eying a closed eyed 2017 version on the MP awhile back as a potential shell for him, and when I acquired the re-release later on and got to see him in person, I realized it was a great option).

The two have their faceups, but I have yet to get around to doing photo-ops of the two of them in their current forms. Partial laziness, partial being busy, and partially due to my Canon DSLR being somewhat MIA at the moment (it needs a professional lens cleaning, as I must've gotten some debris on it during one of my outdoor sessions and I'm afraid to do it myself in the event I damage it). Maybe at some point I'll snap some with my smartphone's in the meantime.:kitty2

As a separate note: I do hope that those with outstanding orders will eventually hear back from Fantasia doll and and that those orders will be fulfilled. I wish everyone the best regarding all of that:hug:I also hope that Fantasia doll will return someday, and that they'll either become consistent with putting out the re-releases as ordered, or maybe go back to releasing the previous designs.

    43. Has anyone tried other companies heel feet on the muscular woman body? I figured I'd ask on the off chance someone has tried it with any success before I start randomly buying.

    44. @Suwalo 2017 or 2020 body? 2017 body takes Iplehouse nSID heel feet though the resin match is a bit off. I don't have the 2020 body anymore so cannot test if that one will.

    45. @vauhtikatti The 2017 body. This is just the info I needed, thank you! :celebrate

    46. @Suwalo no problem! Flat nSID feet fit too. If you buy them, be careful to buy ony new type SID girl feet, HID girl feet have a similar joint but not the same and they did not fit well.

    47. I said I'd remedy the "no photos yet for this year," and so I did! If you have seen (or at least heard of the basics of) Disney's Encanto, the setup was inspired by it. I was worried about making her hold the metal-and-glass mini lamp (with its electrical tea candle) without any support because it's a bit heavy for a doll. But somehow, the Impldoll body and Doll Legend jointed hands managed to stay steady the entire photoshoot.

    48. Can anyone offer advice about shoes for the new muscular womens body? I’m eyeing some that say they fit sd16 Volks heel feet. I think the measurements match but I have the worst luck ordering shoes.

Edit: They’re tall boots so they go over the ankle and calve. Makes it even more important to get the fit right…

    49. I used sd16 heels on mine and had a pair of sd16 size labelled knee high boots that did fit, too.

    50. Thanks! That’s really helpful!

    51. Hi people, i've asked to a local dealer to reach Fantasia Doll to check if company will replies or not, the dealer replied that she asked to company about my possible order, let's see if she will gets a reply.:)
I've sent a mail on my own but still no reply at all.:|

    52. In case it’s helpful for anyone else, I’m happy to report that the shoes I ordered fit. They’re a little tight on the heel but I was still able to zip them up with a bit of effort.

    53. Yeah, my friend and I have not recieved our orders either. After April last year I had been sending them monthly emails, at some point it switched to every few months. No communcation since April last year.

    54. What a bummer. Probably quite unlikely they'll get back to it again. I really had hoped we could have gotten them back and eventually gotten some new sculpts in their beautiful style, too. They did offer the dolls rather cheap, I wonder if they ran into financial issues with resin prices and availability getting worse and all.

To keep the thread alive, I have some Connie. She's an original Canary on a Feeple65 body (head was resin matched by blushing). I have only just found the thrill of fantasy coloured hair, and I am not stopping at this one wig!

I also managed to get another of the old 2017 muscle bodies, so my Amazon queen character will finally be reality. And my girl crew still consists almost purely of Fantasia dolls. :XD:

    55. Hello.
      Long time no see.
I've been stopping making dolls for personal reasons.
Of course, we didn't accept the official order either.

I thought I had delivered all the dolls since I received the last order.
Of course I checked it several times.
I can see that you didn't receive the doll, so I'm very surprised and sorry.

Did you send me an order mail while I was taking a break from making dolls?
If you didn't get a reply from me about the completion of the order, the order has not been completed.
I stopped making dolls for years.
So I wouldn't have been able to check if you had sent me an order email and deposited money.
Above all, there was a problem with the mail I used before, so I couldn't receive the mail properly.

(I checked PayPal, but I can't check the details of the deposit that has a problem.)
(Rather, there are many people who received the doll but only took the money back. T.T)

I would appreciate it if you send me an email if you have any problems with the delivery.
      ( [email protected] )
I don't use the previous mail because there are many spam registration problems.
Please send me the order mail shot and the paypal payment shot together.

    57. @doll.fantasia welcome back! Once the pending orders have been resolved, are you planning on making dolls still, or are you thinking of taking a break for now?

Also I just realized I never posted her onto this thread, only doll profiles, so here's Elyon, my Barbara whose faceup I finished this month!
