Fairyland Realpuki discussion - part 20

Apr 5, 2020

    1. My realpuki soso shipped from dde yesterday!
i didn’t think he’d come in time for my big move, so i’m very excited!
i don’t have clothes for him yet, but does anyone have any handy links for like a simple outfit tutorial?
id like to take pictures of him during my 14 hour drive, i think he’d be a fun travel buddy
      pictures at different states/stops
but i don’t want him nakey for that
      haha

    2. Congrats on your Soso heading home! You could try checking right here on DOA in the patterns area.

    3. My favorite pattern is one you have to buy but it is an immediate download (pdf). It is by FaerieRags on Etsy and is their "Play Outfit"
It includes a pattern for a t-shirt, 2 hats, and "leggingings." The leggings would be appropriate for pants. You can make it with a thin knit - like an old thin t-shirt. It is all sew-by-hand, so no machine required. Honestly, for these little patterns, you kind of have to sew by hand. It is only $8 USA. and no shipping, since it is a download. I have also made shorts from the pattern by simply shortening the pants.

    4. oh thanks for the tip!
      i’ll have to get that

    5. I also made shoes from one of their patterns from felt and they came out really good!

    6. Pippa (Soso) has a new friend who she is calling Abraxos (he is a Dream Valley Bor). I think they are adorable together.

    7. Oh my! How precious they are together! They certainly belong together and that photo is purely epic!:D

    8. @JinCIncy Pippa & Abraxos are darling together ....what a sweet picture!

    9. My long awaited tan Soso with factory faceup has finally arrived, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Her name is Lilith and she haunts your nightmares. Her faceup is simply ‘to die for, dahling’. I’m so impressed with Fairyland’s attention to detail on this one…I don’t know how they can pack so much artistry into something this small. It’s absolute magic, I tell you!;) Her eyes are a deep turquoise, which is a lovely match to her eye shadow. And I’m so happy I made her a little trove of spooky nightgowns while I waited for her to arrive, so she could be dressed and ready to go immediately. Like I’d hoped, her matching nightcaps preclude the need for a wig so it’s easier to show her face.

    10. Lilith is absolutely lovely. I wouldn't mind her haunting my dreams. :D

    11. Lilith sure haunts my dreams because I missed the chance to buy one…….
She is adorable! I love her.

    12. Lilith is gorgeous @PoeticSoul & her character is just charming! Love her night gown & cap....can’t wait to see more of her.

    13. Your Lilith is lovely @PoeticSoul ! Hats are a great reason to not have a wig!

Kali's new wig finally came! I ordered it through etsy and it came all the way from New Zealand. I was starting to wonder if it got lost in the mail when it finally arrived. She's standing in her in-progress doll house in this photo. This is actually the second version of this kit I've put together. It's looking so much better this time.

    14. @Leo Pheonix I love Kali and her in-progress home!
What house kit are you using? Would you recommend it for beginners?

    15. @Leo Pheonix Such an adorable aki! Your Kali looks very at home there already, and I hope we get a chance to see more of it.:)

    16. It's a Greenleaf Glencroft, and while I love all the details it has, it's a press cut tab and slot kit, so to quality isn't the best. The pieces don't always fit quite right, and it can be a bit frustrating. I'd recommend one of Real Good Toys smaller kits for a beginner. They cost more, but its way less work to make them look good.

    17. Kali is just darling @Leo Pheonix . I have an Aki face plate & Kali makes me want to let her borrow a body & get to know her.

    18. @Answer42 If you live in the US, Michaels (the craft store) just got a bunch of perfectly sized dioramas and small house kits as well as cute furniture - It is almost all realpuki size (not dollhouse sized). I out a few of the diorama kits together and they fit perfectly! These are great for beginners and they are VERY inexpensive! I have my realpukis sitting in the Adirondack chairs I bought there and will post a picture soon!

    20. Super cute photo! He certainly looks like he’s thinking long and hard about appropriating some for himself.:)

    21. I finally took the time to take a picture of my two guys. I adapted a overalls pattern to fit and sewed a couple pair. I like how they turned out, but maybe a more muted green would be better. So here is Hickory and Linden one step closer to being dressed anyway.

    22. My, you did a wonderful job on those overalls! They fit really nicely and look so cute on them. Hickory and Linden are lucky gentlemen indeed to have such a skilled tailor at their beck and call!:)

    23. @PoeticSoul thank you! It’s taken me over a decade to get my sewing skills to where I am able to make clothes I’m satisfied with. Lots of failures, lol. Now they need hats and shoes, and I need more time!

    24. @kurogane i really like your over- alls adaptation! They look great! What pattern did you adapt it from? Is it still available?

    25. @Dollquest the pattern I used is for the Obitsu 11cm body, and I had to re draw it smaller to fit the Realpuki. I am willing to share the pattern. I just need to write the instructions as the original is in Japanese and I did change a few things on the pattern like adding seam allowances as the original pattern was meant for felt.

    26. @Dollquest THANK YOU! I'll check out Michael's for Realpuki-sized dioramas!

Also, you could check out my knitted Realpuki pants pattern in Workshop: Patterns: Knitting (and envision adding straps) while waiting for @kurogane to post their cute overalls pattern. :)

    27. Delectable morsels!
      I can't get enough!
Of all the Realpukis out there, what's your favorite flavor?
And does someone have a list of all of 'em?

    28. What a wonderful and clever photo! Well done!:) Trying to choose a favorite sculpt for me is nearly impossible because I love them all, but my first (Aki) will always have a special place in my heart. There’s just something about that cute face juxtaposed with those naughty little fangs that absolutely slays me! As for different Realpuki sculpts, here they are:

      Aki
      Roro
      Tyni
      Soso
      Pupu
      Kaka
      Popo
      Ara
      Sira
      Obi
Edited to add: (thank you, Jonlyn!)
      Papilio
      Toki
      Titi

I’d love to see a new one released…or any of the old ones re-released for that matter. I just want more Realpukis…period!:...(

    29. Thanks for the listing. I also want more of these cute little creatures! Here’s to hoping they re-release some of the old ones or even make some new! Meanwhile, I’ll be looking for them second hand.

    30. And one of my favorites, Papilio. Toki & Titi too.

    33. Little flirt indeed! What an amazing photo…you really captured her flirtatious nature perfectly. She’s absolutely adorable. Who could possibly resist her with a face like that!;)

    34. My Realpuki Gang. I have been wig making. I made all the wigs except for Pupu's. (On the far right). I am getting better but there is a learning curve!

    35. She's such a little darling! I have 10 of the 13 RPs. I don't have Aki, Ara, and Sira. I'm sure I posted a group photo just after Obi arrived.

    36. THANK YOU, @PoeticSoul !
I saved your list and even printed it out; it would be a dream to have 'em all!

LOVE the group photos y'all post!

      @Jonlyn Fabulous portrait photo!
@Dollquest Wonderful wig work! Keep going!

    37. It’s so wonderful to see your tiny crew like this! They’re all adorable. You’ve done a wonderful job on their wigs. Wigmaking for something so tiny is a real challenge, and I’m highly impressed that your efforts have been so successful. I’ve sadly had no luck at it myself. Yours look great!:)

    38. @PoeticSoul Thank you so much! I find it oddly relaxing to create wigs.

    39. Just so you all know - Denver Doll Emporium just dropped a bunch of full set Sosos!

    40. Ah I'm tempted by the DDE soso! But I don't need a full package and I can't justify the price for it

also do the Realpuki have magnets in their feet like the puki puki do?

    41. @spacemachine yes they do! They had magnetic resin shoes available in the past for them.

    42. @Dollquest I see on Facebook that an Anubis-style DDE summer event is coming soon but for now, it looks like only 2 Anubis Sosos are in stock. Would LOVE to see more Realpukis available! I'll stay tuned!

    43. It's been a while. When Flickr changed hands and we were building our house I could only watch the BJD community, not contribute. I've learned how to use Imgur so have some Titi! This munchkin is still keeping me company, just now when I'm working from home on my desk. I got a chance to finally take a full crew pic and it was amusing seeing him so tiny next to the others. He's sitting in the hand of my Dream of Doll SD girl.

    44. @Buzzibee I love the way his sparkly eyes go with his feathery hair! He is adorable!

    45. @Buzzibee Oh how amazing he is with those matching eyes and feather wig! It gives him such a presence…so much character in such a small package.:)

    46. @Buzzibee Did you make the feather wig? Any tips on how, or where to find one?

    47. I saw feather wigs on Etsy if you search realpuki.

    48. Hey, thanks!

    49. Happy to help! I don’t know the seller, I hope it’s what you’re looking for

      • x 1
    50. The feather headbands are from Etsy seller "FindTheHiddenMagic". I have one. I think the seller buys the feathery trim and sews it into a headband. :)

    51. Tried to get a good photo of Anubis Soso in his natural element - but he blinked! :)

    52. How adorable is that! Such a great photo.:D

And you’re right, @Answer42 I got mine from FindTheHiddenMagic on Etsy as well. My ghostly Casper loves his “fright wig”. It’s so perfect for him.:)

    53. Is there a bald space on the top of his head?

    54. @Dollquest Yes, you'll see the bald top of your Realpuki's head when it's wearing one of these wild headbands. These are NOT wigs even though they look like it in photos. I'd love to have a bunch of these but the $20 price made me stop at just one. Love the look!

@PoeticSoul CUTE photo of your Obi Casper!! LOVE your avatar, too!

      • x 1
    55. The look is very cute. I am considering buying one.

    56. Yeup this is the seller I got mine too.

Yep, it’s a headband but I barely ever see it because of the floof. I’d love to reverse engineer it so I could have more.

I got an outfit at the same time which is how I excused the price.

    57. @Buzzibee @Answer42 @PoeticSoul I just ordered one but of course the color I wanted was even more expensive of course (probably because it was a little longer). Thanks for letting me know where to find them!

    58. My wigs from FindTheHiddenMagic came and Soso and Obi had some fun with them!
