Fairyland RealFee Discussion Part 5

I noticed that several of you decided to change Haru's eyelashes from the default yellow to something else. Since I'm a complete newbie into the "customization" of my dolls and such a chicken, could you tell me if it was easy enough? Do you just pull until the lashes come off? I was thinking of changing to either a brown or a black instead...

 

I hadn't even noticed the eyelashes are yellow for Haru. Are June's yellow as well?

I've only replaced lashes that have fallen off, but I'd dampen them a bit with a q-tip and water and ease them off or you could pull off some of the eyeliner.

I received my Haru yesterday and i am somewhat disappointed. I didn't get a white wig but one that is kind of yellow.
Is it normal that i can see her magnets on the back through the resin?
She also has visible seamlines (NS) which i was not expecting...

 

Mine also has visible seamlines on her legs, they're much more visible than what I expected, but I guess it could have been worse.
The magnets are visible through the resin on the back too. :/

The wig is not white, it's more like a cream color, it has some yellow in it

 

My littlefee also has magnets visible in her back and the palms of her hands. I've gotten used to it but was a little worried when I first saw them.

 

They are all like that as far as I can tell, but it's never bothered me, as anything I want to attach, stays nicely in place. If the magnets were buried too deep in the resin they wouldn't work as well.

 

My Pink Pano finally arrived from my FL direct order, so I can show the three Fantasy resin Panos all together in the same photo now.



I love the Pano sculpt... I wonder if Fairyland will offer hiim again in any other fantasy colors.

 

What a great shot of the all the different resins on the same sculpt! It's like an Easter egg basket of pano! Gorgeous!

 

Finally finished paying off my violet Mari, so hopefully she won't take too long to get home~

In the meantime my girl Selene got some new Sprouty Doll eyes (I still need to make her some clothes >-<)

 

The yellow eyelashes don't bother me - I removed May's white ones right away, though. I still need to replace them.

Here's my Haru, tentatively named Rhea. I'm super impressed at how well the mag-on parts stay on. I have a doll from different company with mag-on ears that fall off at the slightest touch.

And yes, she is standing on top of that rock quite steady without any support. FairyLand's amazing engineering strikes again.

What a cute and colorful group! It's nice that you could order an older mold in the new fantasy color, too.

The poseability of these dolls is amazing. I'm pleased that there is no need of sueding and they hold so many poses very well.

I too ordered a Haru and Russ and was under the understanding that I would receive one pair of wings but would receive ears and a tail which I could put on Haru. It is confusing with all the information, but I think we're only supposed to get one set of wings. Congratulations on your getting your order, mine is still on layaway ; )

This is my first realfee, first time buying 'new' and from a FL dealer, and i was just really worried that something was wrong with my doll.

Now that i have Haru i realised i don't like her face that much and i wish i had bought May instead...

Im heavily considering ordering may since she looks pretty much exactly like oc of mine im very fond of!!! I was actually supposed to buy another dolly... but i like may so much better. she'd be my first doll since getting back to hobby. I have couple of questions i was wondering if ppl here could answer?

1) you can order ears for may for extra fee, those are the rabbit ears, right? I was bit sad to notice she doesn't have human ears and am just making sure.

2) has anybody tried yosd clothes on them? I think pants wouldn't fit but how about tops? They'd be obvioudly loose but i wouldn't mind that. Pictures would be appreciated.

3) while typing this up, i noticed that in event news it says realfee basic will not be available during event but you can still buy some of them? im just confused...

1) You can order May rabbit ears with a basic RealFee, they cost $20.

2) I think YOSD clothes would be way too big... Maybe a tight top could work as a loose dress...

3) RealFees won't be available in tan skin during the event but it looks like they are available in normal or white skin.

I have only been looking at Fairyland site, if you are going to order via Denver Doll, you should probably ask them what is available and when.

Yeah no i'll order directly, i live in europe. Im sad there's no european dealer for them currently.

 

Has anyone's headband from Haru's fullset been really poor quality? The flower on mine completely came off the headband, the chain is so short that it's not even visible beneath the flower, and the headband itself isn't even big enough to fit around Haru's head. I'm really disappointed, it was my favorite part of Haru's outfit.

 

There's a "What Fits" thread on page 1. I've found Barbie clothes fit well, although you have to shorten pants and dresses. My Pano & May are wearing Barbie thrift store finds. The pants were shortened but the tops are fine.

 

I can understand why you love Pano, you have three perfect little macarons!!

 

YoSD dresses are baggy but (mostly) workable on my RealFees. Knit tops sometimes turn into dresses, especially with a bit of ribbon for a belt.

If you have any knit Barbie-sized tops (tees) they work very well for Realfees, too -- as will some Barbie shorts / miniskirts.

I wish they'd let us order Soso in any new fantasy colors, too. I was dying to order her in the pink or the purple since I missed the chance to order Soso in Mint. I was very happy to be able to order Pano in the new resins, though.

That's my favorite RealFee -- he was painted by Ban Sidhe. She brings the best out in the Pano sculpt... his expression is perfect!

I do have couple of barbies but one of them has a dress and one is naked.

 

The headband I got is fine, but it's not big enough to fit around Haru's head, I tried to put it on but it kept falling and couldn't stay in place.

 

Caliburn and Afallon say thanks! I've found huge bags of doll clothes at the thrift store over the last few years, mostly Barbie clothes but also some that fit my pukifees and even my pukipuki and littlefees.

 

Yeah mine is definitely doing the same thing. I sewed the flower back on last night and managed to get the headband to stay, but it's so tight that the wig is being squeezed and it looks odd. But oh well!

Hey bit of dumb question probably, but what size eyes do realfee use? i have no idea and my (future) doll will need pink eyes.

I'm still debating whether or not to try to do the face-up myself or order from someone else... Bit early, probably, but im a worrier. I have very specific vision of how i want her to look and im worried i won't be happy. And im nervous about sending the head to somewhere, so is my momma... But idk if i'll do good enough job

 

I think I have 12mm in my June due to his eye shape.

 

Per DenverDoll, RealFees take 14mm eyes -- although, as LuckyXIII says, some people like to go down a size.

 

I got an email from Denver Doll that my Haru and hippogriff were in! But I've got to wait until payday to liberate them! This is going to be the most agonizing wait ever~~~

 

Whew! Yesterday I got my first shipping notice from DDE that my fullset Haru in Agra tan and my fullset Rus in Agra tan were sent sept 6. Ahhh! Now I await their arrival and my shipping notice for my June FS and Violet Rus. Sooooo excited!!!

 

I just got an email from DDE now too. My Haru and June are in but I still have 3 more payments, waaa! Maybe next month I can get them out of hock!

I did have a question for anyone about the Realfee magnets though. I accidentally posted this question in the fantasy art discussion, but I'll post it here where it belongs. I can't get the magnets to stay. Are you supposed to glue them? Seems like an odd thing to do. I mean aren't they supposed to be moveable so if you get other fantasy parts you can switch them around? Plus I have two heads and one set of magnets. I'll glue them if I have to, but basically every time I try to put them in the head one snaps and attaches to the other one and they won't stay where they are supposed to. So for now my Haru is going without her fantasy head pieces. So any magnet help would be appreciated. I've never had a Realfee before and never had to deal with magnets so I have no idea what I'm doing.

 

Yes, glue the magnets in. If you use glue like elmers, you can remove them after soaking in hot water. and yeah, FL only sends one set of magnets. You'll need to buy the rest yourself (though FL does also sell them).

I just use the same clear ear silicone I use for eyes to hold the magnets in my realfees, in case I want to move them. None have fallen out as yet.

 

Congrats on your new babies! As for the magnets, I just pop them in with some extra eye putty so I can move them around if I want to.

 

Thanks. I'll have to get some. Don't have any of that laying around yet either. I'm such a newb. Haha. All my dolls already have their eyes in. But that sounds like something to try too!

 

I often just use the white sticky tack that you can get at the hardware store. Works pretty well, especially for magnets and such. Definitely nice to be able to adjust if you need to.

 

The transparent-silicone earplugs most drugstores sell (brand name around here is Mack's) work well. It's strong enough to hold, but easy to remove when you want to change stuff. You can also buy the same stuff in tubs, labelled as "museum wax", but the dozen little plugs in the Macks container are cheaper & will give you enough to reset at least a couple dozen eyes/magnets. (Clear stuff also works well to stick props to a doll's 'skin', it doesn't show in photos and you can be sure it won't stain the resin.)

But man, am I in love, and surprised by the size being bigger than I expected. And thinking of mods for the event faceplate, for if I ever get a body for it...

Ophie is very shy and doesn't often let me share her picture, but she wanted to show off her new dress. Its a Barbie dress that I have modified. The bodice was too long, so I shortened it and added a rose to the front. She is very pleased.

I am SUPER PUMPED... I contacted Botflybaby about doing a face-up for my RealFee faun Constance (SoSo), and I just got my finished doll assembled. She's sooo gorgeous, and I could not be more pleased!

(Yah I know... pics or it didn't happen... but first I have to find an afternoon when I can take photos outside, and then I need to figure out how to upload them here, a process which keeps defeating me. But I have more incentive now.)
