Fairyland RealFee Discussion Part 4

Nov 21, 2015

    1. Ohhhh... I think I might end up with one. But like, Kirahfaye, what if they come out with something larger later on? :shudder

    2. I have US$ for a change but I wonder if they'll offer a longer layaway like they recently did for Sira (I think?)

    3. Larger is definitely possible because there is the Fairyline and Fairyline60 but that would mean more:chomp::chomp::chomp:
The smaller version is probably the cheapest you can get from Fairyland. Although now that I think of it nothing is ever cheap from Fairyland but that is because everything designed is quality.

You mean DDE or Dolks? Length of layaway probably depends on the price and dealer.

    4. ::snort::

Somehow I don't see that argument working on my husband.

    5. I hope you're right because that would sure work for me! That's assuming I can afford the going price.

    6. what about your baby needs a mommy?

    7. I don't even want to own dolls of this size, but those hippogriffs are sure swaying my decision... Also, Fairyland's engineering is freaking amazing.

If they come out with these in Feeple sizes, I am done. I will be broke and soulless.

    8. For me, it's not the risk of a larger one (except maybe LTF size)....it's more the risk of a *smaller* version. Can you imagine a RealPuki version?

      • x 1
    9. Now that would be amazing. I'm concerned that there will be others that I'd love even more than this one.

    10. i keep looking at the pictured and video but i might wait as I'm hoping for a little Pegasus or unicorn down the road. but the Hippogriff's are sooo cute tho! cant wait to see more pictures of them!

    11. Bite your tongue! My RPs are dancing at the very idea.:dance

    12. Isn't the girl face actually May? The closeup at 3:10 in the video sure looks like the blank May face on the FL website. If it's not May, it's very, very close.
As I expected, the articulation is incredible. The balance, the lifelike poses. Simply amazing. I'm a little bummed that the wings can't be used on other FL dolls, but the weight may have been an issue anyhow.

    13. I think the new girl is a little different to May. To me, it looks like she's a bit more smiley - the mouth turns up slightly, whereas May's definitely goes down in the corners to make her look more bunny-like. Likewise, May's eyes tilt down at the corners whereas the new girl's seem quite rounded. And May has itty bitty teeth, but I don't think the new girl will have any. I'll admit there are definite similarities when they're both blank but I think if they were side by side, it would be noticeable that they're different sculpts.

Not that I've been staring intently at her face or anything... :p

I just wish she had a name! In my head, I feel like she's a Liria/Lyrea (not sure of how to actual spell the pronunciation I'm thinking of!), but I think I'm just making that association as she was holding a lyre in the first photo they showed us.

I think you may be right about the weight of the wings, I suspect they will be pretty chunky! I'm just glad they will pose so well. My littlefee came with gorgeous steampunk wings but she's never been able to wear them as they just dangle and flop instead of posing beautifully like the new ones.

    14. May and Pano are in the video, and so is the new girl. I really had to look close to see the new boy is actually there too. I couldn't see Mari.

      • x 1
    15. Wow, I'm excited to rewatch the video since I didn't notice the new boy. <3

Eeeek! Fairyland is going to make a news post on their site about the Art line release. Nothing has been officially posted yet but you can see that they started the headline :XD:

    16. It's not a long-term solution, but I've found that using some transparent silicon wax to 'glue' the joints over the magnets will hold my LTF Cheshire Cat wings correctly long enough for a photo or two.

Not sure if I'm allowed to mention brand names, but I can buy a box of a dozen 'plugs' at the local drugstores for under $5 -- they're marketed as earplugs for swimmers... they work great for holding BJD eyes in place & I've never had a problem w/staining the resin after almost 10 years. You can also buy big jars labelled 'museum wax' but the earplugs are far cheaper!

    17. you can mention brand names, unless you are the manufacturer/seller ;) i use the same type of earplugs for putting my eyes in and holding wigs or even loose faceplates on. it can sometimes get a bit sticky when you try and take it off (especially on the wig) but with a bit of rubbing it has always come off. since i'm usually replacing eyes, etc when it is warm enough to do faceups it might just be the heat that makes it sticky. it would probably firm up if i cooled it down.

    18. Fairyland released info! FairyLand Ball Joint Doll Shopping Mall Here is what Fairyland posted (I removed all of the huge spaces so it should be easier to skim quickly):

      Dear Customers,

** Detailed event information will be available closer towards the actual event date. Due to shortage of staff, we are unable to answer any inquiries related to the event and the new doll line until event notice is posted . **

Thank you for your support for our latest development, Art Line Category.

In future, Art Line may be released on its own or in combination with other FairyLand doll line(s), such as RealFee which will be released as R-Line this time.

First release of R-Line is a Hippogriff that has been introduced briefly through an introduction video and images, still available for view from youtube]Vmz_boeXBtc and Fantasy Art Lile(Hippogriff) with RealFee pages.

R-Line can be enjoyed own its own or with RealFee to create unique and exciting storyline that can open up new horizons.

      Fantasy Art Line Release Event

      Event Duration: June 10th ~ July 20th

Art Line sales page will be up and available for view only at our website from June 10th, 5PM KST.

Art Line will be available for purchase at FairyLand from June 13th, 5PM KST.

Art Line will be available for purchase at Denver Doll Emporium from June 10th, 8AM MST (Mountain Time Zone).

As previously, we will ensure that there is plenty of stock allocated for both FairyLand website and Denver Doll Emporium so that customers wishing to purchase directly from FairyLand will still have a chance to purchase one when it becomes available for sale on June 13th.

Hippogriff is a challenging doll and nothing like anything FairyLand has produced so far. As a result, no further detail has been confirmed as of yet due to technical challenges and obstacles we need to overcome to reduce the sales price as much as possible. We do apologise for the inconveniences caused and ask for your kind understanding of the situation.

      Thank you.

    19. Providing that price isn't too expensive, June 10th at 8am MT will find me hitting the BUY button over at Denver Doll!

    20. Which ones are you buying Realfees or hippogriffs or all of them? :whee:

    21. Probably just the hippogriff - the pink one (love the curved ear tuffs). I'd be more interested in one without blushing though since I'd rather have a more.... realistic coloring.

This is kind of why I wondered in a previous post if there will be an Art Line thread. Fairyland certainly is making it difficult to keep threads together! LOL

    22. Good choice!

I really would like to buy the new Realfee girl and depending on the price would love to have a hippogriff too.

That's a good point about a different thread for the Art Line. Based on the post it sounds like some of the art line will be compatible with Realfees and some will not? The Art Line compatible with Realfees are known as R-Line? It sounds like the R-Line is a separate line in itself?*_*

    23. Yeah, I think it will take DOA mods making the decision. After all, what if FL comes out with MNF or other size fantasy art creatures?

      • x 1
    24. 3 more days to wait though, now the 10th. :O

      • x 1
    25. That presumes they'd be allowed to have a thread/be discussed. There's plenty of non-allowed animal/anthro sculpts, many of them with "more animal than anthro" listed as the reason. The hippogriff by itself is definitely teetering on that line.

    26. What worries me about FL's statement is the bit about "technical challenges and obstacles" to overcome in order to reduce the sales price. I'd hate to see them simplify things to save money and then come out with a product that doesn't work as well as the hippogriff in the video. It also sounds as if it's prohibitively expensive already.:chomp::chomp::chomp:

    27. I don't think the Hippogriff will be considered on topic by itself. It will probably fall into the pet/accessory doll area so be off topic. The mods are picky and some rules don't make any sense at all though, but we'll just have to wait and see what they say.

    28. I would agree with this - when paired with a RLF, I would assume they are allowed in this thread but by themselves... if allowed at all, they'd have to get their own thread.

    29. It sort of upsets me (for no good reason, I know!) that I have to wait another 3 days to buy from Fairyland rather than from a dealer. And I'm sort of confused as to WHY?

    30. Maybe it is Fairyland's way of getting people enough time to check the couch cushions for loose change & enough time to get to a bank. :daisy

I'm so dreading how much the hippogriffs will be.:chomp::chomp:

    31. But it's possible to order them from Denverdoll already the 10th, while FL themselves only sell them from the 13th?

    32. That is the release schedule & I bet the real reason for the release with DDE first is to allow people to order the hippogriffs via layaways. It might also be a way for Fairyland to gage the interest in the new releases & break up the web traffic. Fairyland does not offer layaways with their site. They recently tried this type of schedule with the release of the new Fairyline 60 Scarlett and it must have been a success because they doing the release the same way. Could also mean that the Fairyland web crew can have a few days in advance to ready their site for the release so that their web pages don't hiccup or crash. I imagine Fairyland can make sure the product drop downs are correct & show the same info as DDE. When Fairyline Sia and Realfee Mari were released there was a huge mess with web traffic and orders got messed up so much that Fairyland gave a free gift to their customers.

    33. I thought so too, but they are different.
She could be perfect as May's sister <3

It's a shame they don't mention anything about Dolk, their other dealer.
I would order from them because they offer layaway. I know DDE offers layaway too, but the risk of having to pay import fees when ordering from DDE is higher because they do not put any value on the customs form...

    34. Ah, yes, I suppose that must be the reason... I'm still really bummed, but eh. :|

    35. I agree with you there, they should have mentioned Dolk. Not that I have custom fees to worry about, but the shipping is less expensive from Dolk to Australia, than it is from DDE?

    36. I wonder if it has to do with an agreement or contract that DDE has with Fairyland? DDE also has dealt with Fairyland for the longest & has had the time to build it's reputation in the doll community for layaways. Didn't Dolks recently become a dealer for Fairyland? They might only be taking smaller quantities of orders. Maybe as time goes by & people outside North America starts to use Dolks more Fairyland will consider having them start the future releases with DDE or instead of DDE?

    38. Also, just guessing, but every new release brings a host of technical questions -- some of them redundant, some of them maybe not so easy to understand, especially in translation. I'm thinking Fairyland may be just as happy to let their DenverDoll reps sort out the threads, and catch all the slang & weird individual phrasings. (Especially in cases where non-native English-speakers take a chance on their English skills, and then the Korean-speaking Fairyland people have to translate the message for a second time!)

After all, some of us (raises hand) are happy to use DenverDoll *because* we're chicken-hearted about our weak language skills...

    39. I really want this new hippogriff but I'm not too crazy about the new girl. Her outfit is really cute though, I really hope they give the option of choosing which face sculpt you want. That would be awesome but I doubt it :T (I'm hoping to switch her out with a mari)

I'm also excited for the possibility of a different skin tone option but I'll be happy with just tan :D

    40. Gah! I just saw the new RealFee and Hippogriff pics, and I am jumping out of my skin here. I love them! I've been wondering if Fairyland might do a centaur body or a winged body for the RealFee line, and the Hippogriff has all those elements and more...

And how great is it that the Hippogriff has a creature head? :) That gives me tons of character and display ideas, and means that I might actually use the non-creature legs of the new RealFee. (My "normal" Pano legs never left his Fairyland box. He's just too cute with hooves!)

I love the face of the girl RealFee, and I love the purple and blue Hippogriff. I'm hoping I can get the girl face, but with the purple and blue "ear wing" shading to match that Hippogriff. Fingers crossed!

    41. Thank you both for the suggestion, I will have to try it! It would be nice for her wings to come out of the box for a few photos.

Ooh, exciting stuff about the release information. I don't know why, but I really just assumed they would only sell the new realfees together with the hippogriffs, so now you are all talking about buying a hippogriff on their own, it's making me re-think my assumption. I don't know where I got the idea of them being bundled together for sale from, but now I think about it, making them available separately makes a lot more sense!

It seems a bit of a shame that they don't announce at least a rough price range when they give us this release information, so that people have a few extra days to prepare and see if they can find the funds before the release itself. It would be nice to know even just vaguely what cost they'll be.

    42. So does anyone have a guess (cringing) of what the price may be? I already know there is no way I could possibly ever have these without layaway, but I feel like these will be a down payment on a car or a house at this point.

But oh do they seem worth it...sigh...I'm obsessed.

    43. Basic Realfees are $270 so I'm hoping the basic hippogriffs with no make up is no more than $400 (which is a lot for a tiny bjd)otherwise I will have to pass because I'm really saving up for a Realfee/Art line dragon or pegasus unicorn(hopefully Fairyland does make them). Also hoping that there is a deal for getting the realfee with the hippogriff. Sometimes Fairyland will offer Full Option Package were you get the doll fullset & fantasy pieces for a little bit cheaper price.

On a slightly different note - the new girl Realfee is cute as a girl but I can see that faceplate with the right face up easily becoming a boy. Does anyone else see that possibility? :XD:

Really hoping Fairyland releases a cute Realfee event gift face plate for this event. Maybe the winking boy Realfee in the promo pics is the event gift?!:D

    44. @Meggethann ~ My full option Mari with face up on both plates was $549, so as this will be TWO separate pieces and not 1&1/2, plus full body blushing on the hippogriff, I'm thinking closer to $900 for the two complete.

    45. Yep -- my (wild) guess is that they're working to hold the price for a "basic" hippogriff under $500 -- maybe $600, with blushing. (I paid, IIRC, $170 extra for the 'full art' paint on my LittleFee Cheshire Cat wings/boots/mask last year; with SP faceup the finished doll was over $700, the most expensive FL tiny I'd seen.) Molding all those tiny little pieces & stringing them properly will not be cheap, and Fairyland can't afford to ship less-than-perfect finished dolls at that price point!

Since the basic RealFees are running $270 ($315 w/sleeping plate faceup) and the costumes also cost money... I was thinking it'd be a miracle if FL could hold the RLF & hippogriff full-set price under $800. (Buyer psychology, somehow the difference between almost $500 or $750 seems much more affordable than over $500/$750, so I've been setting my imagined price-points around those figures. That's under the assumption that Fairyland is pricing more for buyers used to thinking in American dollar terms than Korean won, of course.)

    46. Yeah, I'm sure the Hippogriffs are going to be really pricey but they are worth every penny because of the detail that Fairyland puts into their work.

On a slightly different topic - here are my two sweethearts.
      [IMG]Sweet Love

    47. Wow - Charm, your RealFees are gorgeous! Mari's sleeping face is so sweet, and I love both of their wigs. :3nodding:

      • x 1
    48. Awe, thank you so much. Realfees are so much fun to pose and photograph. I also feel really lucky that I was able to adopt a Mari. <3

    49. They really are, aren't they? I like how distinct the RealFee faceplates are, and I think there is something quirky and appealing about each of them from any angle.

      • x 1
    50. You are so right! Depending on the angle you photograph them it is like capturing them in their own moments. I never thought I would find Pano's more gentler side. Looks like Mari brought out the best in him. :aheartbea
      [IMG]Just a moment

      • x 4
    51. Hah! I see what you're saying, but I think I'm seeing more of your Pano's steamy side than his softer side... That is some intense, silent movie style wooing going on there.

Your photo reminds me of this scene with Rudolph Valentino (as The Sheik) and Vilma Banky (as Yasmin) in "The Son of the Sheik," right down to Pano's smoky eyes and Mari's bare midriff.
You've really captured something very emotive in your RealFee's expressions and the staging of their embrace. I love it!

    52. Too funny!!

      • x 1
    53. Ha haha! :XD:You made my day! Now I want to watch that movie (never seen it but who knows what inspiration I will pick up from it).:aheartbea

    54. Crikey that's going back more than just a few years!!! But I must admit, Rudi can still be very inspiring. :thumbup

      • x 1
    55. It's the kind of boy meets girl + star crossed love story that's timeless! And, yes, Rudolph Valentino was legitimately pretty dreamy. (Hmm, Rudi would make a good Pano name, now that I think about it.)

    56. And there is a new thread: Part 5!

      :)
