@Lemon Balm Sprite What a fantastic photo! You must have been patient to capture Agnes and the bee at the right moment. Very well done! It's so crisp and perfectly focused too.

@Kirahfaye Fingers crossed for you. I haven't heard anything on either of mine, but they were ordered during the period extension, and it does seem to mostly be Antes (And Pongs, based on DDE stock) coming out first. Hopefully your Ante is among them.

It seems Pukis are coming back into my life with a vengeance. I've never had more than two at a time, and thanks to this sale, that doubled. I thought that was probably all my Puki fortune for the next several years, but the secondhand market had other plans...

@psychicandroid Thank you! I'm excited. Apologies if I snapped her out from under you. I don't buy many dolls / doll parts on Ebay anymore, but the last time I let an old, discontinued doll go and decided to let someone else win her, a recaster bought her and she started showing up in their listings less than a month later. Definitely a worst-case scenario- I don't snap up every old doll I see, nor could I afford to- but after sleeping on it, I knew I'd regret letting Rose go.

She will fit right in with Bellweather (Piki) and Pendelon (Flora). I'm looking forward to seeing her personality emerge when she settles.

 

Hahahah, you actually did! XD But I'm so glad she went to a good home. A long time ago I had a Rose and that litle face brought back some fond feelings. I've made the mistake twice of selling pukis. I've decided that no more selling the pukis XD

I ordered a tan Ante from DDE on March 1st and got my shipping notice today. Hopefully her outfit will make it here in time!

 

@psychicandroid Ahh. I understand. I'm in the same boat- my parents bought me an Ante one year for Christmas, but I ended up trading her to help get a gift for a friend. Always pined for a Flora, but decided to wait for tan... and missed both tan events. Shortly after they were discontinued, I had the opportunity to adopt a Pipi and a Brownie hybrid, and I was highly motivated to do things with them. I made a wig for one, started an outfit for the other, and then just... ran out of time. So I sold them a couple of years later. Almost instant regret. Now the Pukis stay. It's not like they take up much room anyway.

Fingers crossed that this Puki sale went well enough that they'll decide to bring them all back. I wish you success in finding another Rose. Auction sites have yielded the best results for me these past three years, but there was a Puki or two on the MP here within the last... half a year, I think?

@Dollquest Thank you! I'm very excited. ETA says Saturday, but both of my previous Ebay parcels have been late, so we shall see. I'm trying to lull my impatience by working on Project Cupid- the WS rescue Puki I picked up in 2022.

Your Rose is precious! I remember her- she's the one with the nicely-painted black cat ears. And your incredible Pukisha with the realistic faceup. In fact, you have a strong little family of Pukis, if I recall correctly. Likewise, I would love to see more pictures of yours too. I need to get back into toy photography- I've definitely missed it.

@NineOneThree Another Ante spotted! Congratulations! I hope she arrives safe and soon, and that her outfit does not delay. She's a great choice, especially in tan. That face will melt you once you see her in person. Looking forward to pictures, should you decide to take some.

...Speaking of Project Cupid, poor soul still doesn't have ears- the first pair I sculpted snapped right off, and I had to clean up the leftover epoxie. Thankfully it came off with magic eraser, water and elbow-grease once I got down to the bits laying on the resin. No sanding required. We're going to try glue-on ears next, since magnet ears would turn out too large with the smallest magnets I have. They've been made... but now the weather must warm up again before I can lay down some fresh MSC coats.

@NineOneThree Add my vote for Pipi, especially if we can get them in tan. I miss Pipi the most out of my previous Pukis. Love that sassy little pout.

As I was posting this pic on another thread I thought I’d pop it here too as someone mentioned they missed that sassy Pipi pout.
It’s an old photo of Patticake but it says everything about her. I redid her faceup a few years back but never really got around to taking many photos. Think I’m a bit scared to if I’m honest as she’s not very forgiving!

My Ante is here, I’m working on a name and character while waiting on another wig, all I have available in that size is pink and I’m not sure that suits her.. The outfit I had made arrived on the same day and it is amazing, I can’t get over the talent of the seamstress who makes tiny outfits with so much detail. I’ll post pictures as soon as the other wig gets here and I make decisions on styling.

 

Oh my! She is really something. It does look like she’s giving someone the Loser sign! I love her!!!

Thank you . Now does she need a toy boat or one big enough to go sailing in? I just can’t get enough of the theme since I was in the navy after high school, we weren’t allowed to have pink hair and crop tops though!

I am having the hardest time dressing my Thimble! The patterns I have for tiny BJDs are too small for my Lati Yellow, but too big for Pukipuki. I'm having to figure it out as I go!

 

Yup she is, it’s her second favourite move, after pouting of course, to try and get her own way.

She’s a law unto herself that one, fearless and feisty! Cute as a button too but don’t tell her that, she’ll think I’ve gone soft.

Anyone know any good sources for Puki Puki wigs? I'd like to find one for my awaited Flora.

 

Yes, I'd love to know what sizes to buy for the Pukipuki's. Is it 3/4? My little boy Pipi has always been bald, so I haven't needed to source a wig for this size, but i have Ante coming and she will need a wig.

 

I just ordered 3 from ebay from Jusuns wigs. They are great quality and have a variety of styles and colors. I know Leeke world have some for sale on Denver Doll and I bought two of the sissy ones recently good color, but there's some wefts peaking through on them.

 

What size did you get?

 

Size 3-4. Anything else will be too big for them.

He’s really cute! Maybe some lighter eyes? I also always have a small directional light pointed towards the eyes or at least reflecting into the eyes. It helps them show up.

@cleverLC Try patterns for Barbie's Kelly, or Obitsu11. Both of those usually fit PukiPuki. That said, the outfit you have them in now looks great! Love the colours, love the fit itself. The rolled cuffs on everything are a nice touch.

@Dollquest Gee, I can't imagine. What a great trio! Cheerful, ecstatic, and fed up. (At least from this angle) Congratulations! They look ready to embark on adventures already... I hope they believe in pants.

I think the 'they're doing them in batches' theory is all but confirmed at this point. Both of my Pukis were ordered during the extension period, but Flora arrived this week. I have... thoughts.

• Her head is smaller than OG Pukis. Only by a few millimeters- she should fit 3 /4 wigs fine- but enough to be noticeable. Smaller headback, smaller faceplate... totally incompatible with the OG, but designwise seems to be the same.
• No more metal bases with the holographic design. That was a given- if I recall correctly they had already started phasing those out before PukiPuki was discontinued.
• No more magnets. This one was a surprise to me. Granted, the faceplates fit so securely that you never really needed them, especially with eye putty inside. But most of my Pukis, even my secondhand ones, always came with them. It felt weird for the brand-new one to not.

As a possible bonus, Flora came with a sleeping faceplate I did not order. I'd like to think it was Fairyland being kind, but... I emailed DDE just in case.

Edit: DDE says they are gifts. An unexpected bonus!

To everyone looking for more wig resources:

• It's a small selection, but I've had good luck on DollyTerria, and they update regularly, so it pays to check. Just type 3.5, and you should get a list, or try in 'other doll accessories'. (If this is your first time using the site, there is a small dropdown bar on the top that allows you to read most things in Chinese, Korean, or English. I found it helpful to use Firefox with the 'Simple Translate' extension for the ordering pages themselves, which do not translate to English. xe.com is a website that will allow you to translate Yen to your own currency, so you can always know roughly what you're spending before shipping.) I recommend using EMS for overseas shipping, as DHL has started tacking on huge fees before even adding insurance. DollyTerria themselves took time to make me aware of this.
• It's unpredictable when and what will be available, but if you're into DiY, Frappzilla sometimes releases wig kits to go with their tiny ones, which are comparable to PukiPuki in size at the 'Bloom' scale. You might want to order a couple of kits just to be sure your doll's head is well-covered, but they are not expensive.
• Didn't see her mentioned elsewhere, but TashkasBears on Etsy still makes wigs for this size if you're in the market for more natural colours and curly / wavy textures. RaeWhiteWolf and Natrume also offer 3.5 options. Rae for sure has or had Pukis.
• OobieDoll is still making Puki-scale wigs as well on her site.

 

Thank you for the helpful information about wigs @Loptr. I have my own thoughts about the size difference of Flora, I don’t have Flora, but do you think all the PukiPuki heads are smaller than before?

I won't know for sure until I have Cupid in hand too, but I'm guessing that was the big change, yes. But there is something else. On the back of Flora's faceplate, they have a small 'plaque' shape with the sculpt's name neatly printed, but barely etched in. An update from the initial or name that used to be carved into many of CP's older faces. It's clever, because it's the kind of detail a recast would not pick up easily.

 

@Loptr, I’m just wondering if there was an issue with the company’s master sculpts/molds that caused them to require recasting of their own dolls.

 

@NineOneThree That did cross my mind as well. Since Fairyland isn't overly communicative outside of, "Here's an event! Buy stuff!" "Watch us discontinue the things you love!", it is still unclear; did the person who used to be in charge of tiny dolls ever heal from their accident? Or were new folks trained in to get to this level?

The thing is, the name plaque looks like something that was digitally sculpted, and considering that FL does most if not all of their sculpting digitally now, that would fit the bill. Although maybe they digitally scanned the old Pukis to get as close as possible?

Definitely multiple possibilities.

 

My Ante shipped yesterday, so I'm hoping she'll be home soon. I ordered her in the elf grey.
One of my Realpukis arrived weeks ago, the other one is still in production.
I ordered all of them within a few days of eachother, so I'm not really sure what FL is basing their production schedule on...

I think I recall it being due to old molds? That's part of why they shut the lines down, isn't it - to redo worn out molds that are losing detail. Recasts tended to have it bc they sometimes were stolen discarded molds.

 

I thought I read that too, that’s why I wondered if they had to recast their own dolls, but with new technology, who knows what was done to re-release the sculpts.

 

@Fairy Milliner Congratulations! Hoping that your RealPukis arrive soon too. It is definitely a unique casting system, however they determine it.

@ohbumblebee I had totally forgotten / missed that. Looking back over old threads, it seems you were right ; I can't find a definitive announcement, but DoAers were clearly talking about it. So @NineOneThree, you might be closer to the answer.

That's 3D sculpted, right? On oldschool Pukis it was etched into the clay on the master, and left a 'handmade'-looking imprint on the finished dolls. But maybe they sculpted it, printed it, then glued it inside a pre-existing Flora? I can't pretend to have the answers, but it's fun to imagine the possibilities.

Also, quick heads up: DDE got in a shipment of FL stuff recently, including a few PukiPukis and RealPukis.

 

I think it's a combo of the two--there was an announcement about the person who was in charge of the smaller lines, but I don't know if he ever recovered. (I certainly hope so!) I wouldn't doubt mold degradation is part of it, but that's a natural part of the mold's lifecycle, so I wouldn't think it would be the only reason. They're only good for so many pulls before you have to make new ones. When I emailed them a couple of years ago now, too, they said part of it was also sourcing packaging materials. So seems like a kind of perfect storm of little things that led to them deciding to not-quite-discontinue the line(s).

Macchiato (Chocopuki Cupid) is now 15 human years. My how time flies by.

 

How old is your Chocopuki and how have you stored him? His skin tone is pristine. Macchi has yellowed and lightened over the years

 

I'm not sure how old he is. I got him when he first came out, but I'd have to pull the certificate and look at it to see for sure. I keep him in a room box my husband made for me, but he is out of all direct light.

 

Sounds like he is 15 too! I’m impressed with how well kept he’s been. As you can see, Macchiato has spent all her time out, not so much in direct sunlight but I didn’t really shelter her either.

 

I don't have a Chocopuki, but I remember when they were first released... I've been in this hobby longer than I thought.
