Fairyland PukiPuki Discussion Part 23

Jun 11, 2016

    1. Thank you @redmaiko ! My puki ani came home and I tried giving her a new face up. Not 100% happy with it(I didn't think to check my brushed before I started, my husband's mini painting has destroyed them), but here's Newt!

    2. Poor Patticake, she's been sitting neglected on the bookcase for years so I redid her faceup and changed her eyes. Still as insolent as ever though!
Also discovered Monster High clothes fit, that's where she stole the waistcoat from.

    5. They are rather cute if I say so myself lol

    6. @elfy016 i bet! i love my minifee(s) but the smaller pukipuki are calling to me lately. i think this is how the true addiction starts...

    7. Hi pukipuki fans!! I got my grail cupid 3 last month from a really sweet person here on DoA and just had to share....
Her name is Nova. :aheartbea I'm so in love with her I can barely stand it. I'm double floored I could get her in tan resin! :...(
      [IMG]

She was so unplanned (one of those dolls I didn't think I'd find anytime soon, it's not one of the very popular puki sculpts) so she needs eyes (tho these are super pretty), a wig, clothes, wings... and everything... :sweat But I'm so happy to have her on my desk all day.

    8. @buckiris I've always loved smaller bjd. Minifees are pretty, but Im happier with my cute lol.
@Beedalee Congrats! Such a fun mold, I can't wait to see what you do with them. Those teethfers are adorable

    9. Elly and Ramune have their carpets redone!

    10. Thank you @skyealloway and yes it's pretty handy!! It's made me fall in love with her again.

Haha @elfy016, that she certainly has!
Love your two, so damn cute. I used to have a pukisha plate years ago, I think it came with Patti when I adopted her over 10 years ago. I knew I'd never use it so I gave it a faceup and sold it, always wonder if it's still around in someone's collection.

OMG @Beedalee that is adorable! I love the teefs and that tan resin is such a lovely shade.

Haha @Darkwind, who's going to hoover up any crumbs?

    11. @Blodeuwedd I remember that faceplate! It was so realistic. I'm trying to find an open eye or winking faceplate for Goblin. It's proving difficult :'(

    12. Guys and gurls, I need some help. Where do you buy the pukipuki eyelash?

    13. I don't know that small.
I'd be tempted to try to make them myself. Maybe knot embroidery thread on a longer strand of thread and use glue to stiffen it? Tedious work though

    14. I have some human hair I'm using to make a ventilated wig for my Joy, I'm thinking of trying something like this

    15. @flornosertao You can use the kind for larger dolls (not huge, but most are larger than pukipukis :)) and use only each end of the eyelashes. Then I use the middle for larger dolls. That is what I did for some of my pukis. I try to get eyelashes that have a maximum length of 8mm in the middle.

    20. So lockdown with Pukipuki's is fun (^-^)

What have you been up to with your dolls?

    21. I'm one of the lucky ones that get to work from home. But, in my off time I do get to plot and mess with my dollhouse, figure out how I want to film it and how much I want pre done. I have a video that needs editing to air soon. And I'm always messing with their wigs to get the perfect fit!

    22. @Budgie she's adorable! Goblin and Newt have been sulking in their lantern. I've been dealing with personal stuff, so I haven't been doing a lot of doll stuff.
Hoping to mod open both their eyes this weekend! I've given up on finding an open eyes pukisha faceplate and I want my ani faceplate to have a half closed look.
If that doesn't happen I'm going to work on Newts clothes. I'm not happy with her loom

    23. Hello all! I've been lurking for a while now and enjoyed all the Pukipuki spam. Now I can add my very own Ante called Flora.

Looking forward to seeing more of all your dolls!

    24. she's sweet! @TheDoctor Ante's are such a lovely sculpt

Took Goblin out on our walk today in the forest. They were glad to be out of the house!

    25. @elfy016, Your Goblin looks like such a fun person to explore the woods with. They were not made to be inside all day!

    26. It was a perfect day for it too :) I love how easy it is to go take photo's with pukis!

    27. Flora looks so seet! Look forward to seeing more of her.

Goblin looks so pleased to be outside!!

    28. When I went outside to feed the animals the light was so nice this morning. Quickly ran inside and picked up Flora for a little photo shoot.

    29. @TheDoctor the best part of pukis! So easy to grab. She looks like she worked hard to get up there :)
Got inspired by Havra's entry in last months sewing project and made Newt a new outfit using this months theme: scraps. Not 100% sold on the shoulder fur. I think it needs a cape under it, but the wool one I tried was too bulky.
I embroidered the neckline and sleeves, but my camera blurred a lot of details :(

    30. @elfy016 That is a really pretty dress. Was it a Viking theme? I think the fur works fine, though it is always a shame that it isn't fuzzy on both sides (but then again that makes it look realistic). The detail in the stitching is visible now that you pointed it out. I really like her shoes though! They are so cute yet functional. :3nodding:

    31. @TheDoctor it was a general historical theme. Her dress wasn't viking, but one of the wip progress photos looked like a viking apron dress and inspired me :)
It works great though because Goblins outfit was inspired by anglo saxon clothes :)
The shoes I scaled down from moccasin pattern on pinterest. They where easy to make too!

      also Happy May the 4th!

    33. @elfy016 Adorable!! Goblin and Newt look so happy in there. Great how Pukis fit in everything.

I think I will try and build a little diorama. Spam of all your Puki houses appreciated!

    34. Goblin and Newts lantern loft! I'm reworking Goblins ground level. The bed on the first floor just took up to much space.

    35. @elfy016 That is so cute! I like the wallpaper and the little swing seat is fantastic!

I was planning on making Flora a whole library. Today at Aldi I saw different sets of 1/12 doll furniture. Probably left over from Easter and discounted. Not exactly the type of furniture I find pretty but useful nonetheless as each set cost about 3 bucks. I can't even get material for that money. So I took home a bathroom and a bedroom set. I'll see what I can make our of it.

Edit: Question I thought of: how hard are spare face plates to come by? I don't have market place access for another 4 weeks but I thought I'd try my hand at modding one with a Dremel. Wouldn't want to destroy Floras sleeping face plate though.

    36. @TheDoctor Personally I've been finding it impossible to find faceplates. I've been looking for months for an open eye or winking pukisha faceplate. And Newts faceplate was originally temporary till I could find an on topic faceplate(I keep forgetting not to post her alone. The painted eyes make her off topic and a mod ruled opening the eye's won't make it on topic). But I haven't found a single faceplate. :(

      • x 1
    37. @elfy016 So...wait. Your Newt's faceplate is off-topic? I'm not understanding why modifying to opened eyes is still off-topic.
Are some legit Pukipuki faceplates off-topic?
(I don't want to mess up and break a rule. I apologize if I missed something you wrote earlier.)

    38. The mods told me the anime faceplate is off topic because it has painted eyes. I thought opening the anime faceplates eyes open would make it on topic like the dollfie dream head, but apparently that only applies to the dollfie dream heads.
The sleeping cat faceplate is on topic though.

    39. @elfy016 Thanks for the reply. At least you can show Newt if you show Goblin with her.
I thought I had a pukisha faceplate and looked for it for you, but turns out it's PukiFee size and it's the hamster face.
Hope you find a nice faceplate soon.

    40. @Answer42 Thank you for looking! I think everyone is saving their faceplates in case fairyland decides they're canceling the pukipuki line

    41. @elfy016 That's sad. And a bit odd... Your Newt is lovely.

When did FL stop selling Pukipukis? I snatched mine up second-hand and when I first got interested in BJDs, they were still selling them. The Ante sculpt was always one I was interested in. When I saw her, it was an impulse buy and I didn't check on the website beforehand. I was a bit surprised to see they were not produced anymore.

I'd love to have an extra face-plate to mod it into an "evil face" for Flora. She is supposed to be some sort of fae who is sometimes- if frightened- he reacts rather strongly and shows her fae face. I suppose I will have to sculpt it by hand then...

    42. Yeah I haven't seen them available in quite a while. I keep expecting them to come back. I have a bunch of them I love pukipuki

    43. They stopped a while ago. The company send out the same message each times someones asks the past few years. The person in charge of Pukipuki production was hurt badly or very sick and they're waiting for them to recover to take the line back over.
At this point I think they're done with pukipuki's, but aren't retiring them incase they want to use them as a promotional item.

    44. I don't know for sure about PukiPukis but in the RealPuki thread, someone contacted Fairyland asking about the RealPukis (also in a non-production state now) and they responded that they were going to bring back some dormant sculpts toward the end of the year. A rather cryptic statement but perhaps there is hope that PukiPukis will be among the revived sculpts.

    45. @namaro Interesting! Thank you for that information? Do RealPuki face plates fit the Pukipuki headback and vice versa?

    46. There are PukiPukis available in the a la carte section:
FairyLand Ball Joint Doll Shopping Mall

I think that is where I got my PukiPuki Pong Pong. Fairyland had just stopped selling even those full packages that were not sold out yet but someone told that PukiPukis can still be ordered from the a la carte system.

So is someone just wants a basic PukiPuki, they can try that.

    47. @namaro I'm cautiously excited! Hopefully we'll see pukipukis. *starts saving*
@TheDoctor I believe you need an adaptor, but I could be wrong. I know their hands and feet aren't interchangable with out modding. Realpukis are slightly smaller then pukipukis
@spih The page you linked are for pukifee, which are a larger sculpt. I did a quick poke and didn't see a spot for pukipuki. I'm not a huge fan of the proportions of the pukifee. They make great toddlers, but aren't what I'm looking for

    48. @elfy016 I have RealPukis and PukiPukis that are several years old. I checked today on what I can swap: My RP/PP faceplates are interchangeable without an adaptor. My larger PP hands and feet fit the smaller RP bodies without adaptors, but not vice versa. I can't guarantee this is true for every PP and RP, given that production can change over time.
Shaving down the larger wrists and ankles to accept the smaller hands and feet is do-able but doesn't seem like a good idea.
Fairyland's only U.S. distributor, Denver Doll Emporium (denverdoll dot com), hasn't offered PukiPukis and RealPukis for months, if not years. With fake RealPukis available from China, I suspect Fairyland can't make any money on their 2 smallest sculpts. *sigh*
I adore RealPukis and they might only be available secondhand from now on. (I'd like to be wrong on this!)
      Happy Friday!

    49. I had no idea realpuki faceplates fit pukipuki. I always thought you'd have to have a special head back. Great info!

    50. Thanks for checking what's compatible @Answer42 Now I know I can use realpuki faceplates!
I've managed to sand the slots where the wrist joints go into bigger on a realpuki hand for puki. But it's a royal pain in the butt. The only reason I did it was Denver Doll sent me the wrong parts and were not great to work with when I tried.
I get something not being profitable. But I wish they'd say that's what's going on if it is.

    51. @Answer42 Thanks for checking! I don't know if it will be any easier to get my hands on a RealPuki face plate.
It makes sense though that they would abandon both lines if the recast are so much cheaper and easier to get. On the other hand, people will think about buying recast if they can't get the real deal... *_*

Flora is still strung so tightly that her legs keep snapping up and her arms like to stretch out all the way. She looks like she's balancing on a tight rope. That thought gave me the idea for this photo.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do with her short of restringing? I would have to get new elastic for that since I can't make strings that are to short longer... Maybe wiring might work?

    52. @TheDoctor you could put her in a pose that stretches her elastic and gently force her to hold that pose. It might loosen the elastic a bit over a week or so.

    53. I'm hoping pukipukis also will be revived this fall! There will always be a special place for them in my heart since my first bjd was a pukipuki ante. Awesome to see this thread so active again!
