Fairyland Pukipuki discussion part 2

Jan 23, 2008

    1. lol, somehow the mental image of tiny drunk pukis is just too cute too resist- I must find a beer mug for my very own! That would make such a cute photostory...:aheartbea

    2. Amy asks: " Did someone say drunk Puki??..."

    3. Wow¡¡ My cupid arrive yesterday ^_^. Is so pretty¡¡ But the poor don't have wig yet XD.
      But still cute to¡¡

    4. I love me some Scotsmen! Thosekilts are fantastic. Did you make them yourself?

    5. Now that's a truly decadent Puki! I love it! :fangirl:

    6. :) She's a real jazz baby, clochette Watch out for that cute flapper!

    7. Very nicely done, even a tiny sporran! Now all they need is a set of bagpipes :)

    8. I just almost threw up/had a heart attack. Amelie's head CAME OFF! I was changing out her faceplate and the s-hook slipped out of it's spot and while I was trying to put it back in, it twisted and her head came off! With the help of a bobby pin I got it back on.

With me being so new to BJD (about a year since I discovered them) and her being my favorite it was very scary. Well, little accidents help us to learn I guess. And hopefully now I won't be so freaked out to take off anyones head. And maybe I will take her apart and give her a bath soon now that I'm not so frightened to not be able to put her back together. How hard are puki's to restring?

    9. This are 3 bad photos of preview of my doll. He-she haven't a wig, or her proper eyes yet. But i thinks is cute. The makeup is by me, i must made another day one, because here is raining and the msc and pastels don't put perfect on the face.

      This is Lung

    10. How scary! :o I'm glad you got her head back on!

I haven't tried to restring my puki, but I've heard/read that they're kind of hard to restring because they're so small. Not impossible, but difficult and not for beginners. I know nothing about restringing though, so I don't know how true those comments were.

That's her wish list as of now, lol, and she started making yuki's apartment in puki scale. her puki's now have a living room set, lol and they aren't even here yet. lol.

    12. It's not too bad, actually. A bit fiddly, but if you make a hook on a thin wire, you're good to go.

    13. kuraiangels: I used to be obsessed with that show, too. XD Now I'm drooling over Ledger's Joker and wondering if I'm willing to shell out the money to make a Puki one.

As for restringing, I'd be scared to even restring a bigger one. I am clumsy and tend to get stupid ideas to experiment with halfway through a job that ends up never working.

    14. Thanks :D

Maybe I will finally give her a bath then :fangirl:

    15. Heads are generally easy to get on and off. The shirts two of mine are wearing at the moment requires their heads to come off to get them on (well I COULD cut them up at the back and sew velcro in them, but it's really so much easier to just take off the head.

And pukis aren't stringed as hard as some larger dolls. My 70cm DollZone requires a lot of pulling to get the S-hook back through his head. But with some strong twine and hubby's muscles...

That said, I don't dare to take a doll completely apart. I've seen diagrams and stuff of how the elastic goes.. but there are so many PARTS in these dolls and I'm the kind that always have one bit left when I thought I was finished assembling something *L*

    16. It's a good thing all the puki parts are marked l and r. Except, it seems, the s-hook magnetic parts that connect the hands and feet to the body. ..which I found out when my puki's feet would only come on wrong. Had to switcharoo them, very annoying. Those parts are more difficult to put on than the head, so test fit them with the hands and feet attached before assembling.

    17. I'm so happy the bad weather cleared up today so I could *finally* get out to get some nice photos to share with you guys!

The rest of them cam be found here. :3

    18. Wow guys! Everyone's Pukis look so amazing! I love coming to this thread. :love

OMG....they are wonderful!!! YOu did amazing on the outfits!!!!! Kudos! I love them!

    19. KYAAAAAAAAAAAAA! He's wonderful!!!!!

    20. SwitchfootKatie, I know exactly how you felt. Recently I had purchased an Alice Cherry Blossom piggie and I decided I would try to change her shoe feet to her regular piggie feet. I had no idea how best to do it (a bad sign right there) and was trying to hold on to the string after I got the foot off and poof! It slipped out of my grip and in a second I was looking at a pile of piggie parts. EVERYTHING was in pieces. I actually cried. But I did manage to get her back together after looking at some re-stringing videos. It's a terrible feeling, so I can sympathize. Glad you got her back together. :)

    21. I finally got my ani-face! Here she is, her name is Bianca or Beebee for short. :aheartbea

    22. She is adorable. I can't wait until I get mine. I am so very impatient. Enjoy her.

    23. Thanks to everyone who commented on my Scottish kitties! You can see the vast amount of photos from that day by following this link:

Everyone's photos are all so cute - it's so hard to keep up with the Puki madness! *laughs*

    24. What about a very small crochet hook? I don't have a my pukisha yet, so I can't compare.

    25. Yesterday a tiny fairy nocked on my door :) Her name is Lychee, my second bjd xD
Now my precious Nicolle(Unoa Lusis) wont feel as lonely anymore :)

They seem to get along very well ^____^
      [IMG]

Lychee is in love with Nicolle's hair and plays with them a lot :P

    26. this picture is so cute! I love your little piki with the pink fullset.:aheartbea

    27. CUUUTEEEEE..... today is too cold to work on my wood doors ( restoring them) so I will work on next ani faces :D

    28. I use the hook from latch rug hooking.
It works for all of my dolls heads!:)

    29. OMG Prettybird! She's so adorable! Her eyes look gorgeous! Are they painted or decals?

This picture is simply precious! Soooo cute!

    30. Decals. :) I was thinking of painting her eyes but i figured i'd give the decals a go first and see if I liked them. I think they turned out surprisingly good!

I'm not sure about the ani face yet though. I love Bianca's little human ears and her anime eyes, but her upturned nose kind of bothers me. I compared to my Alice's nose (puki pipi) and Alice's nose is much much cuter. :huh?:

We'll see how i get along with Bianca's nose i guess.

    31. Same! I love my Ani face and decal eyes and the cute lil mouth.. but the nose kinda bothers me.. And the Ani face is "fatter" than the other faceplates too, if you get what I mean. Well my bf said her face looks like a bun. LOL

Anyways I just finish my Ani face today too!
I brush the ani face darker than the normal factory makeup from FL. and also painted the lil mouth. I am not very good at painting faceup. But I am happy and satisfied :) But of course I need to improve next time!
LEFT: Cupid ; MID: Ani ; RIGHT: Flora [Loreley faceup]

You can see how "bun" the face of ani compared to the normal faceplates.. LOL

    32. Oh and 1 more question!
Do anyone knows where to find socks for Pukis?
      Thanks so much!

    33. yeah, the "bun" comment is definitely accurate. We'll see though, I mean with the right wig or hair color, it's possible to slim the face down a bit. I wish they would offer the regular puki faces with human ears too- that's what I really want. I'd get my pipi's ears modded but they still won't look like the adorable ears one the ani face.

You did a great job on your ani face! I blushed mine heavily too... somehow the exaggerated anime eyes need heavy blush to provide some balance. I haven't really done the lips yet though, still thinking about how exactly I want them to look.

    34. I wonder how the ani face would look nest to Chichi? He's got somewhat the same nose, almost pug-like face and broad cheeks. It's incredible since it's only in the face, but he DEFINITELY looks fatter than the other pukis. I can't even have him in shorts because even his legs look fat (silly but they do!)

    35. Uh oh this gives me a costume idea for my upcoming puki: a lil faun/satyr.

    36. You could ask Spampy if she could make Puki socks, I know she makes WONDERFUL Puki clothes, and has made socks for Lati Yellows...and maybe ElfDoll ALice Piggies (not 100% about that) but you could also send a PM to find out. ^^

Your guys' anime faces look great! I considering doing one myself, but I'm not sure about it. Some times I them....and sometimes not so much... but I would like to do a Ani-face Legend of Zelda Link from the Gameboy series and thought the Ani-face might be a good way to go...
      Any thoughts?

    37. LOL,
Yes I did make socks for my piggy, but it was julia.
      Now THEY were tiny socks!

    38. oh my gosh. Those are so freaking cute!

    39. ohhhhh sooooo cute!!!!!:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbea

    40. Ohhhhh this is soooo cute too. You guys are soooo talented....please send me bubbles wishes of talent my way.....:)

    41. Oh this little gem is TDF cute, I love the little look on its darling face....cute.

    42. do you have a picture of the alice piggie with a puki?????? please let us know we would love love love to see Alice piggie, or even julia piggie with the darling puki's, thank you.:love

    43. oh this is sooo cute prettybird, we got our darling outfit, it is soooo cute, no puki yet though, just tons of outfits and accessories....still waiting. This little face is cute, are those the decal eyes? thank you.
      :)

    44. Oh you guys are soooo talented, I just can't believe the talent and gusto everybody has, I love love the darling face ups, clothes, shoes, panties, everything that everybody is soooo good at, and you are willing to try it, that is what amazes me so much. lovely people creating darling dolls, and cute pictures, thank you so much for the charming pictures and ideas,,,,,:)

    45. this little doll of yours ROCKS!!! He has such attitude! I love love this crazy little doll.:love:aheartbea:fangirl:

    46. Oh my Lordy those are too darling, sooooo tiny, sooooo talented....I wished for a talent like yours but He by passed me,,,,,oh to be able to sew so tiny items,,,,WISHING and HOPING, and PRAYING for such a talent.....love love your tiny work.:aheartbea

    47. Spampy those have to be the smallest socks I've ever seen!!! So adorable, too. Actually I've seen smaller knitted ones in dollhouse things, even made them, but not here.

    48. Wow Spampy, these are truly worthy of some diploma for the smallest socks! They're awesome!

Another thing is, sewing socks is among the easiest thing to make for any doll. I haven't made socks for my pukis yet, but that's mostly because their feet fit so nicely into the Kelly shoes that there's no need for socks. But get an old sock or just some stretchy jersey material and cut two J-shapes the size of a sock (+ a little extra for seam) and sew them together. Make the seam down the back and it'll be practically invisible :)

(and now I'm getting insane ideas of knitting tiny socks on pins with thread as yarn... Good thing I don't know HOW to knit)

    49. I got my cute little cupid yesterday (no piccus cause ofcourse my camera batteries died as soon as I wanted to take piccus) anyway I gotta ask, I feel like compaired to my Pipi that cupid's eyeswells are too small.. I can not really get the glass eyes I have in her noggin while they fit perfectly in my pipi. I finally got the eyes in but there is huge gaps somehow. I am wondering if I will need to buy a eye beweller to make them bigger or something >_<
      Anyone els encounter this or?

    50. what size are the eyes? I read somewhere in this insanely HUGE thread than with the exception of Pipi and Piki the rest of the pukis take a size smaller eyes.... and if all else fails you could try bevelling the eye wells a little??

    51. Pukis generally use 8 mm eyes :)

    52. They are all 8mm so...
Mhhhhh... guess I will have to buy a beweler then >_<
Wonder what 6mm eyes would look like, wasnt there someone that tried that?

    53. Haha, glad to have been an inspiration? I'd love to see if you do that! More fauns/satyrs please~!

Also, I totally have to get a picture of Cillian's hooves with the faun-pants pulled up. I went ahead and modded off the 'sock' ruffle bit on them, since it just was *not* sitting well with me aesthetically. Plus I also carved down a bit of a notch in the back so he could actually point his little hooves now :3 Hooray!

    54. That's what I'd love to do too, modify the little hooves. The ruffle just doesn't suit the character I have in mind. My little girl is going to be an Aries battle maiden if everything turns out! :aheartbea

And please do show what the hooves look like, I am very interested in the notch at the back! Anything to improve mobility and the look of the hooves.

      Thank you!
      Auska

    55. Here's a pic of my little Julia, puki and Nara.
Taking a walk together in the park!

    56. As my yet to arrive puki will be my first bjd i have been doing some reading about the do's and dont's and im a bit confused.

Do i need to coat my puki with MSC when she arrives to protect her? Do i need to wash my hands every time i want to pick her up?

I've been so excited but im starting to be scared instead - i dont want to break her!

    57. :) Don't be afraid. ABJD's - and Pukis in particular - are much more sturdy than you may think. They're not brittle or anything and can withstand quite a bit. My 70 cm doll nas smashed his nose into the pavement twice.. and yes, the tip of his nose was a little crushed (nothing a little sanding couldn't fix though) but other than that, he was totally unharmed. And pukis are much smaller so they do not fall the same distance, should they topple over. Add to that, that they actually stand very well, at least THAT is no reason to worry.

And no you do not need to cover them with MSC before playing with them, nor do you need to wash your hands. IF your hands are especially oily, let's say you've just applied hand lotion, I would wait a bit, but other than that.. no need to worry :)

So forget your worries and just look forward to your first doll! Which one have you got? :)

    58. Oh gosh, my guy has been handled a TON and he's still just fine. As you said, much sturdier than you think. A friend sent me some fabric with bitty skulls on it. So naturally I had to crack myself up.....He thinks he's such a tough guy.
