Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 68

I found this announcement a bit of a letdown, myself. Oh well.

 

Yeah I'd rather a see a deep brown than fantasy red but I know why that is. Dark colors are much harder for some studios to do. And FL has some very sharp critique on their quality- things other companies get away with, they will get skewered for, so they dare not take the losses and then the critique casting in dark resin would probably bring. As it is, now I kinda wanna deep-dye a Minifee at some point to have that color.

 

I don't think it's fair to say FL gets skewered for things other companies "get away with" because that's not quite what's happening, but I'm not here to cause an issue.

I found this announcement a bit of let down as well, but I guess it's better for my wallet. I'm happy they're providing new fantasy tones for those of us that like fantasy style dolls, but red is such an odd choice compared to every other tone they could offer? I didn't think red dolls are very popular but maybe I'm wrong? The tone they chose is gorgeous and would be fun to get creative with, but still.

Either way I guess I'm safe.

 

Oh I'd love to get vampire Jiyu in red. Or maybe Icarus. I just doubt I'll be able to afford it! We'll have to see.


And I've finally given in and realized all my minifees are spooky boys, and I painted my new-to-me Akis. I didn't realize how square his jaw was until I saw him in person, and I LOVE it. I need to style his hair still and I'm undecided on his eyes.

I must say I'm surprised at the red resin. I'm the first to admit I don't know much about resins, but as red dyes in clothing bleed and printing inks often fade quickly, it makes me wonder just how durable they will be.

 

Fading is always a worry with red resin, though I do own two red dolls now (partly why not super tempted here.) One of my red dolls is new so only time will tell how the pigment lasts. The other one I got from Soom back in 2011 has kept it's color really well, but I keep it away from sunlight and strong bring lamps.

As for the moe with extra bust options I might actually be tempted if they offered their fully flat chested Fairy-line bust again. I have one doll with that my Sia boy, and I'd love another doll with it as think it would be nice to use to make a transmale doll.
As is not sure I would like the female moe, body as I am not a fan of the extra small feet on my F60 girl.

 

I’m not too impressed with the new color xP it kind of reads to me as if they were afraid to commit one way or the other…it’s not a very saturated red, so it doesn’t quite read “fantasy” to me, but it’s just red enough not to work for a normal skin tone. I wish they’d leaned one way or the other.

But like others have said, I’m really happy to see them dipping into fantasy tones!

 

i have a feeling they DID want to go for the actual-human skintone, but couldn't get it rich enough and settled for what they ended up with. it's not something i want, personally, alas.

i am super tempted by a small-busted moe girl though.

 

I think that's likely. It's just very difficult to get deep colors in resin at a consistency rate suitable to make it a profit and not a loss to cast, alas.

 

I'm not a fan of the red either. However, I can see it making a really good sexy devil girl, like with the full bust and everything. Definitely potential, but I'm not feeling it tbh. I also wonder how it will age, will the doll end up looking orangey?

 

I got my Icarus and I have to say I'm obsessed with him. He's competing with Alan for my favorite boy. I saw a picture of someone's Icarus arrival and got very worried since the faceup was COMPLETELY different and part of why I loved him so much was the faceup - but mine looks just like the pictures. I've now seen two of them with different faceups aside from mine, but it seems to be a WS problem. I'm glad I ordered mine in NS. He's so dark and sinister! Very unique, I love him so much!

It's going to be forever before I get my NS Icarus, and the wait for my dark boy is killing me so I second the please send Icarus pix.

 

The newest MNF sculpt I have at home is an Alicia, but the one I love the most is my Ryeon that I got secondhand in December. I'd owned one before, but had to sell her back in 2015 or so because of needing cash for bills. I always regretted that sale, but she sold first of all the dolls I listed back then.
I figured I could rebuy her, until FL pulled all the old MNF heads for updating, and she still hasn't come back up, so I settled into never getting her back, but then a friend offered her to me around Christmas and I jumped on buying her. I'm so happy to have her back!


She had to get all new things, since I didn't keep anything of her old shell. But she accepted the character again without a hitch.

 

Here's my Icarus. My phone camera is VERY bad and the light is going down. I can take better pictures with his fullset wig on later if anyone is interested. Just let me know!

He's supposed to be a minifee Oberon so I got him this wig. Didn't know how short it would be so we're back to square one lol

I got my Icarus last week and I too love him. He's so much more beautiful than I thought.

The weird thing is, I think they sent me the wrong event head... I got the Shiwoo Elf and not the Shiwoo Dreaming Elf. Did this happen to anyone else?

(Also, I always thought FL boxes were a little exaggerated... but this time I got a shipping box all torn and smashed but the doll was safe inside. If it was a thinner doll box it would not go well.)

 

I think I got the dreaming one. Can you show yours?

 

I don't have pics here and I'll only be with the dolls again next weekend - but it's definitely not the dreaming one.

I just wanted to know if the dreaming one was actually sent to people as a gift... I'm not complaining or anything, I love the one I got. I just think the event one was the dreaming head and the "open eye" elf was a head you could buy during the event, right?

 

Anyone else getting the itch for the summer teaser, like me? Or for the Layla sets to start shipping?

I feel like a kid waiting to open a Christmas gift under the tree! Lol

@InkNLionsTeeth Gorgeous? Mine? Thank you! They really let me have fun. These are all just quick and dirty snaps at my dining room table where I do all my wig work! Someday I really should give them a proper set if photos!

 

There's so many little details in each pic that I love, although I'm definitely partial to pink They're all amazing!

 

Does anyone know if Fairyland's tan skin is consistent in color?

I have a (very old) Chloe head on a newer body, and the body is quite a bit lighter than the head which drives me nuts (but also makes me want to give body blushing a try, so yay?)
I really, really want to get another tan Minifee some day, but I am unsure about it because the owner pictures I've seen seem to vary quite a bit in color.

@franky , from my experience, at least all these 5 years fairyland Tan are quite consistent in color.

I have a head from 2019 who match a body from 2023, but this is also depend on how the resin was kept. I use to put my doll back in their box after play, display some but not all the time (The longest is like 2-3 weeks) for your reference.

 

I am ITCHING for a summer teaser. I'm thinking about taking the plunge and grabbing a Minifee soon, and I'm trying to wait and see what the event is. The anticipation has me buzzing!

Me three! I'm really hoping for a summer doll that will knock my socks off!

 

Every day there's not info about the summer event I feel empty inside (not really but kind of!) - I'm just really ready to find out what the dolls and event heads will be!!! The problem with Minifees is that they're all so beautiful, I have to wait for one that really sparks something when I see it (like last year's summer event head) or else I'd end up with all of them!

Thank you! Alicia is only my second Mnf sculpt I’ve ever felt the urge to have, and do have! She towers of my Ryeon on this body which is fine for me.
I have a bunch of dolls with mohair wigs like that too, none of my fairyland’s though…

 

Ciel is so refreshing to see for me. I absolutely adore her. She's the epitome of everything I love about Fairyland (whimsy white and pastels). Very excited for her! This event is very exciting so far.

 

Maybe I’m in the minority, but I feel like the Ciel outfit looks unfinished The pieces she has are pretty don’t get me wrong. But it looks like undergarments and a petticoat and that the skirt is missing. Maybe it’s just the angle of the skirt in the pics I dunno

 

I love the beast event head! So adorable. Her feet also look like they’re going to be amazing.

Fullsets are nice, but I usually end up just using parts of it. I like my dolls in layers upon layers and it kind of messes any posing I want to do.

 

Do we think Ciel will be available to order as a human? (no horn)

 

I would guess, probably? I'm also going to guess that the horn may be magnetic.

One of my mnf’s is on an Impldoll 1/4 Plump body, which makes her quite a bit taller than my full Mnf.

I have a 3D printed neckkey on the body, but the neck is thinner on the Impldoll body than a Mnf one, but a wig hides the gabbing perfectly. Head is fairyland natural skin and the body is Impldoll real skin from 2024

I’m personally a huge fan of the body, and it has an easy change system for the hands and feet, though jot magnetic on either part. Very solid though!

 

@IzabethS My hope is to find one that is taller and slim, the character prefers a more androgynous look, but it's good to have this idea too!

 

@LiselT - oh that’s fun too! I’m sure there’s some other good hybrid bodies out there, it just needs to be taller than a Mnf and lithe from stature, right?

Wow! this hybridation is really gorgeous! I like the "presence" it gives to your minifee. Do you have some pics with wig and clothes? I'm curious ^^

 

@Lady Gabrielle izabeth has pictures just one page back.

Here are my two hybrids. They are on Doll Leaves "Teenage Dreams" bodies. My aline minifee is in the middle. I used the minifee neck connector from Denverdoll to make it work.

The Dollleaves body is a lot taller. The minifee normal skin is peachy compared to Dollleaves. So if it matters, the head will need to be blushed lighter. It doesn't matter a lot to me. The only thing I don't like about the bodies are the hands, but I think they work for these characters.
