Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 68

Dec 17, 2019

    1. I'm safe for this round, but I really like how they present us the story of Icarus. He's gorgeous!

      • x 1
    2. I'm not sure if I'm safe or not :nowords: My brain keeps saying how lovely a girl this one would make...

    3. Totally going for Icarus. Love the dark bad boy look without the fullset looking dreary like Akis' did. He's pretty cool! Not personally a fan of the gears everywhere, but it's kind of cool seeing another steampunk-esque style theme even if it's not for me, since Fairyland had a good few releases of it way back when. Looking forward to seeing his video.

    4. I think he's beautiful, but I'm safe nonetheless! Seeing owner pics of him will be a real treat.

    5. I think I'm safe this round So now it is a waiting game of saving up for my next minifee without a time crunch

    6. He is a great doll, but my budget is thankful he's just not for me! (Ladies only in Casa Aurify) What a great option for those who collect male dolls. His costume is really creative and the photoshoot tells such an interesting story. I wonder if we'll see more dolls based on Greek mythology?

    7. Oh, your brain are right, I just thought that this sculpt will make a lovely sister with Iset too. :sweat

    8. I think Icarus would be a cute girl =)

    9. Pardon my teaser interruption, but eeeeee! I am so so happy! One of my girls at last looks and feels just right! It's such a great feeling, I love her!

    10. Wow i really love her. The outfit is amazing :D

    11. Put an old yellowed Soo head I've had laying around on a first gen Dollits DKD body. Color match is more than I could have hoped for. :D

    12. She looks like character from manhwa or manga, really like her style and colours. Great job!

    13. Does anyone know if the new minifee/f60/f65 hands are gone or if they're coming back in stock?

    14. @SacredMonsoon From what I recall of the post about them when they came out it was buy them and other hand parts now before a price hike on such parts at the end of the event time. Also something about them temp going away with the fall event, but that they would be for sale again at some point. Not 100% sure on how it was worded mind you that is just what I remember of the post on them.

I ordered a few of them in each size at the time I ordered Arial and the F65 elf girl, cuz I had needs for them for my resin army. Also the new boy heart hands were too cute. X3

    15. @vanori Thank you! The outfit is a mixture of things from a few people, but the bulk of it is by nyusszdesign on Instagram :D She is super sweet and her quality is amazing!

@yunan That... might be the best compliment ever:XD: Thank you! It has not been easy trying to get Annalise right. This is her second minifee shell.

    16. The skin match looks perfect :O

    17. Teasers for the event heads just popped up on Facebook looks like both the f60 and mnf event heads are dreaming Shiwoo elves.

    18. I know alot of people say they don't look like their old counterparts (which I do agree with) but it doesn't bother me nearly as much as others tbh. I can get why since they don't have the exact same shape but I still like the event heads so I'll probably try and at least get the minifee one

      • x 1
    19. Crying cause you can buy just the elf event head without having to purchase up to 750 :abow: I will eventually need a body for him but I think for now I'm just going to get the elf head and Icarus's outfit

      • x 2
    20. Whaaaat, they are starting to sell just the event outfit as a stand alone?! :o Never thought I'd see the day.. Wish they had already done that with Ariel though. Here's hoping they will keep doing that for future events, as well. :)

      • x 4
    21. I LOVE Icarus wow. The fact they're selling the outfit separately is so cool. I also hope they do that for future events going forward. There's a lot of positives of just selling the outfit alone, including making the after market less saturated from splits, less risk for people too split wise and honestly my favorite part about the company at this point in my hobby life is collecting the outfits. I'd be so happy to not have to buy the whole doll from here on out.

I really think Fairyland is listening and being much more open to trying new methods of sales and ideas than before and it's really cool to see. I've been so up and down with this company since I got here 10 years ago and I really feel like they're picking back up a bit. Love Fairyland.

    22. It looks like the event head is elf *dreaming* Shiwoo, but they're also offering regular elf Shiwoo as a Lookback head. All I know is I'm super bummed because I would have loved to have my tan Shiwoo as an elf. :...( But I'm way too worried about trying to work on tan resin to modify him. :atremblin

    23. I really like Icarus's sculpt and face up, but don't need the outfit, so I think I'll wait and get him separately later. Kind of wish he had a vampire version.

On another note, my Akis is in the mail and should arrive a few days after Christmas, so I am so excited!

    24. Can i request some eye sizes in a lami? I want some bigger ones but not sure what size would look best.

    25. well... got an opportunity to get the dreaming elf event head and couldn't say no :sweat:chomp:
can anyone tell me what is the like max neck circumference I can use for minifees? Theres this body that literally just popped up on new clover singing that I was eyeing because its such a good price but not sure if the neck would work (or I would have to sand it down) It's 7.5cm...
      anyone have any advice?

      • x 1
    26. @strawberry_parade I'd say, stick with 7cm will be more of a safe choice. ±2-3mm might still be ok, but 7.5... I think is quite risky. :huh?:

    27. LiselT she looks absolutely incredible! I love all of the tiny details in her face-up and outfit.

Cap'n the Soo is such a lovely sculpt and that colour match is just right!

Minifee Moe bodies fit in Elf on the Shelf clothes. Ask poor Charlotte here how I know!

    30. Just wondering if anyone has pics of their grumpy Dark Soo! I purchased one a while back but can't decide what body to get for them or how to style them.

    31. I keep changing their look and have them on a standard body, but here's a pic of my grumpy child.

    38. I know this is probably a bjd sin but my 1 year old had the sweetest interaction with one of my Minifees :chibi I’ve been working on a sweater for my doll so she was headless in my lap. He wanted to see her. I made the doll pat his cheek and he hugged her :...( It was so stinking cute. I wish I caught it on video lol

Maybe a budding collector in the making?

    40. I couldn’t resist any longer and bought one of the last special skin *boy minifees in stock at DDE :3 I got El, and I’m SO FREAKIN EXCITED. He’s going to be so much fun to paint!!!

      • x 3
    41. Please post pictures when you've done the faceup!! I am so interested to see what people have done with blue or grey skin but haven't seen anything so far.

    42. I’ll do my best! I’m not good at posting pics on DOA, but they will absolutely be on my Instagram! :) I am also curious. My friend just purchased a grey El with a GORGEOUS faceup (you can find him I believe on stardrifted’s Instagram page). But I haven’t seen much else other than him!

      • x 1
    43. Oh wow! I just looked on Instagram! Your friend's El Elf is really cool!

    44. Right? We had both been admiring him since stardrifted posted him, and we can’t believe he made his way to one of us :) Sometimes things just work out in funny ways! I saw him in person yesterday and he is just absolutely awesome.

On another note, I really like the Fairyline body. Granted, I don’t have any experience with the other fairyland boy bodies so I’m not sure of the differences, but I really like how it handles. Does anyone have any thoughts on how they compare?

And my boy was just delivered to my house today eeps! I’m hoping for good humidity soon so I can do his faceup, but I’m not crossing my fingers. The weather here is terrible xD

    45. @InkNLionsTeeth
On topic of the differences in the male bodies, there are folks out there with side by side images. However I own many Motion Line males, a few Fairyline males, a Moe-line and two Active Line Muscle Males. There are minor posing differences, mostly it's look and style of body.

A Line boys are a bit thicker, and stockier in a good way the muscle body has abs for days and I miss that body being an option.

The male Moe body is thinner the A-line and softer, it comes off to me as trying to look younger too, I have made mine a character that is 14, but honestly could see that body used for even younger characters.

The Motion Line or Motion body is the many default male MNF body these days and I love it, but it is not for everyone. (and as said I miss options for others) It's thin, yet fit like a gymnast or dancer build. I think it poses very well.

The Fairyline male is very close to the Motion line body, it is only slightly smaller/thinner and the legs come off so it's strong differently so it can change out legs/Mer-tails/horse-bodies. The ways it is made to interchange option parts is really the main difference between it and the Motion body. They are extremely close in looks when side by side, the locking mech in the legs of fairyline boys is another diff, but again that has to do with swapping options and stabilizing things for that to work.

I know I do not have photo refs here, but I hope my thoughts on them help you some. As I said I know a few people (on Flickr and maybe other now) have actually side by side refs out there that can be found linked in a few threads around here if you hunt for em.

    46. No Fairyland doll is a star pretzeler, but the boy Fairyline bodies are amazing. I have a special place of hatred in my heart reserved for the motion line boy legs and that stupid little piece that always catches the string when you sit/stand them. :XD: The Fairyline body has a totally different mechanism inside the legs than the motion, though. I don't full believe it's only due to the "swapping options" because the girl bodies are pretty much the same inside, it's just them who's different, but the locking mechanism is amazing and makes them so much easier to play with. I personally swap all my motion line boys with Fairyline bodies just so I don't have to deal with the motion line body - it's honestly one of the most frustrating bodies I've ever handled (and I've handled a lot). The locking mechanism makes them soooo much better. As for the older bodies, I like them enough, but I gave all mine up because they were too "slidey" even after wiring/suede. Pretty basic posers, but they look really nice.

      • x 3
    47. Totally agree with this! Many of my friends who own fairyland boy also said the same about the motion line body. I had try handle them once and not like the legs too. My boy stick to A-Line body until I can grab him a fairyline body last year via Akis release.

I also pretty much like A-line body more than the motion one... even he's not a great poser like fairyline body.

    49. @Tippetarius @Littlebirdzoom and @xxxsaturnxxx — thanks for your thoughts! I opened my Fairyline El last night and I reaaaalllly like the locking mechanism in the legs, a LOT. It feels so much more sturdy than a lot of my other dolls (and I like the noise haha). I was able to get him into some really interesting and dynamic poses too! The body definitely does everything I need it to ^.^

    50. Wait, the Fairyline bodies don't have the little catchy bit? I've been hybridding all of my motion line boys to avoid it. Granted, doing so has given me a nice variety of heights for my boys, which helps character wise, but I guess I just hadn't noticed that my Klaus and Akis didn't have the same issue! I love the aesthetics of Fairyland bodies, but the issues with the leg joint in the male motion line body makes me want to yeet it out a window sometimes.

On another note, my Akis seems to want to disconnect his bottom from his top pretty easily when I have him sit compared to my other Fairyline boy, am I just doing something wrong?

    51. No it totally doesn't have that devil piece of resin lol. The mechanism is completely different and you can sit/stand them without any fuss and they hold poses too. A locking mechanism and the rubber pieces are installed in the Fairyline boys and no one else for some reason xD Fairyland REALLY needs to sell these bodies separately :( I think we should all let them know we'd want it. They usually listen.

I've noticed that not all the Fairyline resin hooks are carved the same, so it might just be more shallow than the others. If you have a file you can fix it super quickly and easily by just making the hook part a little deeper. My Feeple60 Miwa had that issue really bad.

    52. Best news I've heard today. I've mostly replaced the bodies of my non Fairyline boys with other options that look nice, but I'll make sure to try and get Fairyline going forward for my next ones. It would be nice if the bodies were sold separately.

Thanks for the tip! I'll track down a file and try to make it a bit deeper. I adore my Akis, he just scared the heck out of me the first time I tried to get him to sit and his legs popped right off! I was visiting family when I picked him up too, so I didn't have any of my typical restringing tools either. My mom, bless her, gave me a dental hook to grab his elastic and pull it back down to the groove so I could get his bottom back on!

    55. Congratulations!!:aheartbeaIngrid looks so amazing and serious! Really like Tan Minifees more, they are so gorgeous on photos. Are these eyes was already with her? Really pretty! :daisy

    56. Thank you!

Thanks! They are the premium eyes that came with the full package set as an optional add-on :3nodding: I am super happy that I got her in this color! I've never owned a fairyland doll, so when I first saw her I was like "OMG :love:celebrate"

    57. Does anyone have recommendations for Minifee motion line boy clothes? When I search on Etsy, I can really only find female clothes. I just wanted some modern casual boy clothes, but it’s proven difficult!

    58. Hi everyone,

I have a quick question. Do recent event heads come with certificates? I know older ones don't.
