Fairyland MiniFee MNF discussion part 68

Dec 17, 2019

    1. Congrats on everyone who got Serenia! I tried to join a split for her outfit but was too slow. :sigh
I love her outfit, although it looks a lot like a renewed version of Minifee Carol's, if you put them side by side.
Which I don't mind, they are both still beautiful.

    2. Model legs.

    3. Congrats on the full sets to everyone who snagged one! I picked up an a-la-carte Serenia in the blue. No idea how I’m going to style her, but the blue resin is too beautiful not to pick one up while I can and I have a few months to decide.

    4. What you've described I've experienced with cutie legs, but not model. How interesting and I'm so sorry you're experiencing that.

    5. Yeah it’s too bad. Most of the time it isn’t too difficult to pose her in the flat feet and flat shoes. But the heeled feet were make me work for it lol Her knees kept buckling backward and she would want to collapse forward. Which is scary of course for the face! :aeyepop:

    6. I absolutely love that his name is Devlin! I’ve got a Devlyn too although his a little Monica boy!

    7. Hopefully this is the right place to ask this, but does anyone know why Fairyland doesn't have any other chest sizes available for the moe body a la cart except large and xlarge? Thanks! It's really frustrating me.

    8. They claim the s/m/l busts "don't fit" on the Moe stomach piece, yet they'll release a hybrid order option every few years. They've been saying this since they first released the Moe body. Your best bet is to order two dolls, one a-line and one moe, and swap the busts yourself, or find someone who wants an a-line body with the larger busts.

    9. Well that is annoying af, rofl. I'm really not fond of the bigger busts because they can be goofy fits for certain tops. I also just wanted a moe girl that was really cute and small. Thanks for letting me know though.

    10. You can ask fairyland if they can do a Moe hybrid Event again. If enough people ask for it, maybe we have luck and they will do it.

    11. I need the event head version of Chloe on a male body in blue like now. It's very nearly perfect for a D&D character idea I've been working on. and also something about the face (ears and nose mostly, but also the fangs) reminds me of Hordak from She-Ra and that makes me love it even more. I would need to lightly mod it to sand off the flowery stuff around the eyes, but that head is so cool and top of my want list. Payday can't come soon enough. just all the hearts for this event head. <3

    12. For those who own the minifee Sirin, can you please share pictures of her?
Also, is her head thin like the new releases or is it a bit thicker like older releases? :nowords:

    13. @PinkBear Here’s a recent pic of mine. She’s one of the molds I think is much cuter in person/user pics than in Fairyland’s photos. If you get one in stock from DDE she will have the old headcap system because they’ve been hanging out for a while, but I think you’d have to assume if you order one a-la-carte that it would be converted to the new, because I don’t think they’re doing the old system anymore, but I can’t answer that one for sure until the Marcia we’re waiting on gets here and that’s going to be a bit.

    14. For the record they are NOT converting existing head sculpts. They just switched the system and design with (whenever it was first introduced, I forget, I THINK it was Layla) and going forward with new heads. The re-release heads, like Karsh and Eliya and all that, are using the old molds and have the old cap system.

This came from FL directly. Of course, who knows if that will change, but for now if you order a head released before the change, it will still have the old system.

And also @PinkBear my Sirin has the old system as well.

    15. Thank you so much for sharing her Amet and answering my question and providing that insight. It's so helpful :)!
      Btw, your Sirin is gorgeous!

That makes sense and is interesting. I'll keep that in mind when looking at their minifees now. Thank you for this too!

    16. I just realized a close friend of mine got a new Woosoo VE so I asked her what head cap system she’s on.

She’s TYPE 1. No magnets at all in her head, so some of the revival heads are on the old-old system. Good to know! :XD:

    17. This is interesting about the head backs and MNFs, as with some of the F60 heads they have changed the head backs on heads that were not renewed or newer molds. I have like 5 F60 Alan heads and 4 of them have the old head backs, but the gray one I got the same time as my gray Kanis has the newer head back. I have no clue if they also changed the MNF Alan, but they did change the F60 one.

    18. Thank you for this information, very helpful!

Since Sirin came up, I thought I'd share a picture of mine. <3

    19. They announced a change to the headbacks for F60 in their 22/23 winter event notice I believe.

    20. Yeah I recall something about that, but I was more commenting in wondering if the MNF Alan was also changed around then. As they changed the F60 version of it and your comment "For the record they are NOT converting existing head sculpts." It had me wondering is all.

    21. Sorry! I misunderstood, my bad. The minifee alan wasn't changed. When I inquired about them changing existing heads because I was also panicing about it) they only gave me an answer about minifees. So your comment about F60 Alan is really curious... and concerning. Ugh. I really hope they don't change their mind.

    22. They definitely converted heads the last time at least in part, because I’ve got two Rheias in the house and one has the old-old style and the other has a head cap with magnets.

      @Amadiel Your Sirin is adorable!

      • x 3
    23. I meant to the new thin/tiny/impossible cap system. Adding the magnets to the old style they've done a few times. Which is great, I definitely preferred that xD

    24. Ah too bad I’ve missed the event, got some other dolls incoming so unfortunately I will have to wait :(

    25. Does anyone know what the sculpt name of the Nanuri 24/25 elf head is? I can't place which doll this is with added elf ears. Is it possibly Ariel? Thanks!

    26. I wasn’t confused. XD I was making a different point about them having historically converted some heads, because it’s evidence to consider when we’re wondering if they’ll do it again, right?

Fingers crossed it comes back at a time that’s good for you! I didn’t think they’d bring it back at all after the last time (we bought that Chloe in stock at DDE looong after the blue was first released) and I’m so excited even just for the ability to get our existing blue girl option parts!

Also just putting it out there while fantasy skin tones are still available, the gray is also pretty cool.

I expected given that it’s FL, a lot of mottling on the fantasy skin tones, but they’re both flawless!

    27. Got my mermaid Akis today and he's absolutely gorgeous. Par for the course, despite the easy change system, I ended up having to restring almost the entire tail and fish (lol) the elastic out of his torso, because that's just how my hobby life goes. I do own a crochet hook now though!

    28. I actually was going to ask you the same question as @PinkBear . I have noticed that in some positions the cutie legs appear that way to me too - overly curved. When ever possible, I order my minifees with Model legs. In my opinion, they tend to look more normal to me and stand better. Unfortunately, I didn't have that option with the new full set, but stayed up very late and ordered her anyway because I am Fairy-obsessed. lol!

    29. //peeks in//

    30. Are they ever going to bring back some of the old sculpts, like Ruth? I'm so sad to see he's not available anymore due to his mold degrading over time.

    31. I hope they bring back deep ebony skin so I can buy a body for my floating head. But their quality issues concern me. Any resin matches for deep ebony just in case?

      • x 1
    32. Me too. Darker coloured resins always seem to have a special way of making colors pop.

    33. Sharing my vampire Chloe, just because. I think the ebony resin is gorgeous, and I'm contemplating getting a girl in Elf Gray while it's still available.

    34. She is GORGEOUS!! I love her eyes!

    35. Thank you! They are from SecretArtStudio!

    36. VE Chloe looks amazing in all the colors! Your girl is beautiful!

      • x 1
    37. In pictures doll family A looks like they have a resin color that would match— I haven’t seen anyone compare the two though

    38. I tried to find info but looks like that company is closing or something :(

I knew she would be hard to get a body for, but she was too pretty not to buy on dde

    39. I hope Fairyland considers putting Deep Ebony and Elf Grey/Blue on a... predictable rotation? Like Elf Grey/Blue around Halloween/Fall or something. Deep Ebony... whenever it's best to be cast in South Korea, etc? It's so pretty but I imagine it might be hard to cast... my last three Fairyland dolls have all had quality control issues and they've all been NS. I haven't heard any complains about the deep ebony resin though, thankfully!

The deep ebony color is so pretty. I had considered getting a tan Iset in the past and hybridizing her on a dark tan impldoll body, although I am not exactly sure how good the proportions would look, so... If deep ebony comes back anytime soon, I might just have to get her as a full doll and keep her that way. :sweat Although I really like my minifee hybrids on thicker bodies.

    40. In the Impldoll discussion, someone put an Alicia head on the plump body. Might have to go back a bit to find it.
      Found it for you!

    41. That’s me! I indeed put my Mnf Alicia on the Impldoll body, and she’s still on it too. Personally I love the proportions and it adds a nice bit of variety in my bodies.

Here’s a whole google album of my hybrid.

I sadly do not own any fairyland dolls in ebony, but I do have an Impldoll in dark tan. From pictures it might be a good match!

    42. Hello all - I am very unfamiliar with Fairyland. Now I am thinking of ordering a A la carte Serenia. Does Fairyland normally do Christmas Events? Maybe it would be worth the wait then. Thanks :)

    43. They usually have an event once a season. Though lately they’ve been a bit late with announcing their events. You can follow Kim Sunhwa on fb for early info.

Likely a winter event will be coming! :celebrate

    44. I don't know how to feel about Fairyland right now - I definitely want to buy more dolls from them, but with yet another Minifee elf head incoming for the winter event it feels like they're stagnating creatively. Idk I could be way wrong, it's just the feeling I get. It doesn't seem like it's been a smooth year for them : (

      • x 4
    45. I’ve have been second guessing buying from them lately due to all the mentions of poor quality resin or casting. :pout: Which is a real shame since I really do admire their dolls. But considering a Minifee costs about $100+ more than lots of beautiful MSD dolls by other companies without quality control issues, it’s hard to justify paying so much for shoddy work. It feels like a gamble on whether you will receive a great doll or a disappointment after waiting several months *_*

Though where did you see the sneak peek at the winter event? I tried looking but couldn’t find it. :sweat

    46. Cant wait for the Event. :D

      Fairyline Items Sounds interesting

    47. I feel the same way and we're not alone. I've been a Fairyland super fan all 12 years I've been here, but I think I'm finally moving on. Quality issues and some other things that rubbed me wrong and I think I would rather reconsider or consider more carefully.

I was very excited for Serenia's more "classic" Fairyland whimsy look and different elf shape ears, but then the new minifee head has the same elf ears as all the other recent ones yet again. I'm disappointed there's no fullset, but I know that's out of Fairyland's control. I can't imagine how difficult it is for doll companies right now with supply issues :/

The teaser at the bottom of their announcement post saying other fairyline items makes me curious? I wonder if they're going to finally listen to us and do a parts release lol! Like a mix and match. At this point there's only maybe two things I'd want, but I'd still be happy to buy them. Ultimately though I think they're a little creatively stagnant. I wonder why, though, they have always had such good and unique ideas. I hope they can figure out supply issues and maybe get their spark back.

    48. I wish they'd bring back the moe boy body, I'm forever sad I missed out on one :...(

      • x 1
    49. Oh my… Is it the whole line or just recent dolls where the resin is poorer quality?

    50. I’ve been mainly hearing about Minifees have thin resin on their heads and warped limbs. Not sure about their other sizes. It’s been this year and I think the previous, that I’ve hearrd of defective dolls frequently, unfortunately.

      • x 2
    51. If it helps any I recently received three Realpukis from them in three different resin colours (blue, tan and ns) ordered at the beginning of October the day before they temporarily suspended production on everything except minifee and fairyline. They were all absolutely fine.

That’s why they did the suspension I think, so that they didn’t end up overwhelmed and could pay more attention to quality control after all the complaints. Hopefully it will help.

    52. Hi folks! I browsed the fairyland website yesterday and saw that Minifee Shushu is available again (I really missed that somehow). Does anybody know if there are pictures out there which show the current default faceup? I have not found any pictures on the Fairyland website. Thank you very much in advance.

    53. I kinda feel the same about their latest releases too. They feel a bit repetitive...

    54. Unstrung my first minifee today. What a nightmare! :...( From the new headcap system to trying to get the bloody elastic off the s-hook, I think she was the most difficult doll I have ever unstrung, including a SOOM Idealian whose elastic practically bit me.

To my dismay, she is also my first minifee that has been damaged. I don't know when or how, but there is a big crack just above a knee, and she's in the ebony resin. I am nervous to mess with it, but I'm going to have to or risk it breaking off completely. :atremblin At least I get some solace knowing she is going to the spa and will be gorgeous when she gets back!

    55. I need to keep telling myself I have a pair of doe legs and my unicorn boy is lovely and doesn't need a friend. I do no need more unicorns, fawns or satyrs. Even if pure white might be whiter and lighter in color, I have one it is enough.

They do so like to tempt me over at FairyLand.

    56. That is really great to know, Shushu has been on my wish list for a very long time!

    57. Hello all! I have been inactive here for some time, but I have been active in the hobby! I gave my Woosoo vampire elf a new face up, I will post photos later on.
I have another question, maybe you can help me out. I really want some deer antlers and ears for my mnf Rin, since I want her to become a little deer. Are there places where they sell mnf antlers?

      • x 3
    58. I know there use to be a few Esty shops that sold antlers. If you have a 3D printer or know someone with one you could try and find a print for some. Not so sure on deer ears, but I know there are antlers out there if you hunt around.

    59. Lenasminiland on Etsy has a pair!

I never quite thought I'd get into Fairyland, but they're fun to play with. I kept thinking about this Alan specifically and bit the bullet when I found him secondhand by someone who happened to be in the same region. I've already been struck by the curse of wanting him to have a fairyline friend! He won't stay as his fullset, but the costume is really lovely.
