I am loving ebony so much. Your girl is stunning. Priya and Roux both have sleeping faces now and I love them:
I agree, love the wild curls and the faceups, @Nikki'sNewObsession . I will add one quick and dirty snap in the hotel room when I was at Resin Rose! 20250809_165748 by Lisel Rodriguez, on Flickr
So many lovely Mnf pictures have been posted recently! Now I want to add one of my own. Abigail (Alicia) got a new Faceup recently due to getting a new wig I was gifted by a friend!
Braith playing with "his" new blind box doll Braith and Sheila 8.27.25 <-- The rest of the small photoshoot if anyone's interested!
I have 12’s (TianBa’s). in mine with a smaller pupil and I really like it(I find it looks more adult), but I’ve had 14’s (MehiArt/CandyWorld) in and they worked well too, so really it’s down to how childlike you want them I suppose.
Both will work, so sometimes the choice for me gets made by an eye maker I like having a color available immediately in one size and not the other. I do tend to put bigger eyed, older girls like Chloe into 14mm and newer girls like Layla into 12mm. (I have my Layla in her full set eyes though, so idk if they’re actually 14 or 12.) You can also get 14mm eyes for dolls like Chloe with smaller pupils so they’re less likely to gap but also show a bit more white, it’s really whatever your preference is.
Thanks for the advice. Hard choice, I will try some 14s I have laying around when they arrive. If they don't look right I will order 12s. I have some older minifees but for the life of me I cannot remember what they are wearing now. Don't want to dig out their eyes haha
I saw they’ve put a couple of notices up. One is about the temporary suspension of the ebony skin tone and the other mentions the temporary rerelease of the elf grey skin tone in certain lines and the again temporary release of the male Active line bodies. I’m guessing it’ll have something to do with this year’s Halloween theme?
You're right, the Elf Gray can already be selected on the Minifee a la carte page. So exciting, I'm looking forward to see some pictures.
I bought my first new minifee in about 4 years: Raven Designer Complete with the painted Calavera head. For whatever reason, I couldn't bond with them and eventually sold them all. But I have hope for this one because everything about her and the fullset aligns with so many aesthetics. However, she'll be shelling a long-time planned oc that's a goth/alt girl
The Raven arrived yesterday and the designer complete is gorgeous. I'm so pleased. I love the Raven sculpt. She has such a unique face compared to other minifees. However, I was surprised at how thin her head is. If I hold it up to the light, I can see almost through it. The resin is firm but so thin it almost feels like a cracker or cookie. The headcap is very thick and difficult to get off. I can squeeze her head that's how thin the resin is. In all my years of owning Minifees since they were released, I'm honestly in shock and disappointed in Fairyland for selling this final product given the price. Like, where is the QA, how is this okay?
Just from my own experiences and reading those in these threads, the QA seems all over the place for at least the last 10-15 years. I have headcaps that are too loose, headcaps that are too tight, hands that are difficult to get on/off, fused toes, very thin eyewells, sharp seams, etc. I still love all my dolls, but Fairyland has premium pricing and doesn't provide premium products most of the time.
@PinkBear Back with the Mad Hatter Alan came out, I have had one mine come with damages, and reaching out to DDE was able to get his body replaced. Maybe contact Either the dealer of Fairyland and see if you can get a replacement part? As the QA has been very on and off over the years and normally it's pretty good but sometimes something with a big flaws gets through.
My minifee Woosoo vampire elf arrived last week! I want to do the face-up myself, any tips or examples? And what eye size would fit him best? Can’t wait to show you the results!
I agree with you, it’s a shame they don’t provide quality products anymore. That’s why I’m sticking with “older” dolls; the quality was better in the past.
@angievx I have a vampire Woosoo, his eye wells fit a 14mm at the biggest, I tend lean to 12mm for my MNFs most of the time, but not always. However my boy has black beads in place of eyes. He's just the default Fairyland face up. Might as well share a shot of Devlin for the thread though, as he's a cutie for a 13 year old demon.
So the new Minifee is a fairy, Kim SunHwa posted two pictures on his Facebook. She's beautiful and I love her overall aesthetics, but she looks nothing like a typical Halloween event doll and no sign of the elf grey resin either. I was secretly hoping for a grey skinned witch-like Halloween doll somehow.
And limited to 80 set! I want her but I wonder how quickly she will sell out. I’m curious to know why the outfit has a definite number. Maybe to speed up overall production time? Or just limited supplies?
I was thinking the same! My guess was to limit orders since they seemed to have so many waiting to ship, at least what I’ve seen from there Instagram. I hope I can make it in time because she is stunning I just got my Kyma and I think the would make a super cute pair with there fullsets!
80 sets is typical for Fairyland. I just think they haven't been putting that number on fullsets the last few years.
Cute, but thankfully I am safe, my wallet can rest at ease. XD I was hoping and worrying there would be a spooky themed male doll, the fairy is lovely, but not my thing. I do hope to see photo spam of her from others though.
She is really, really cute. Those wings are beautiful. I don’t need any more Minifees, but if I did… I’d think about her.
That is interesting. I wonder if they're focusing on resin quality - I hope so - considering how dangerously thin their recent dolls are.
I'm worried about the quality of the two heads I ordered now. Maybe I will stick to luts after this. These dolls are too expensive to accept bad products.
I hope they improve the quality control too. The new MNF is gorgeous, but luckily I'm safe. I enjoy seeing the new MNFs coming out, but the old ones still keep my heart. I only have two, a Ryeon and an Alicia, though the latter is on an Impldoll body. My Ryeon is from 2010, and she does have a break on the back of one of her knees (it's been repaired by a previous owner and holds up well), but it's never seen. Alicia I think is from 2017? I am pretty sure her head was from when she was released but I can't remember when that was... Speaking of spooky season, I changed Elyra, my MNF Ryeon, into her halloween threads. Please excuse the messy background, but I haven't had a chance to take her outside yet for a fall themed photoshoot. I am aiming for Monday to do so.
Once again I'm being annoying and urging everyone to write to them and tell them how displeased you are with the thinness off the resin in the heads. It's unacceptable and I have tinies with thicker resin than them. Between the resin thinness, the impossible cap system and the shrinking heads along with normal QC issues, buying from them is a difficult decision to make these days. They cost a lot more than the average size as well. I think at this point it's safe to say Fairyland has lost their edge and these cap/headsize/headthickness issue really did it. I'm done bringing this up now. I think all of this annoyance is resurging in me because I actually want the new girl so bad lol I emailed them to ask them to reconsider doing limited fullset numbers again and got this: "Dear Customer, We fully understand and deeply sympathize with the disappointment this decision may cause. For a long time, we have maintained a system that allowed customers to purchase as much as they wished within a certain period. Unfortunately, this system cannot be applied to the current and upcoming full packages, which we also regret sincerely. Despite our best efforts to find a solution, the circumstances could not be resolved, leaving us with no choice but to release these packages in a limited way. We kindly ask for your understanding and patience regarding this matter, and we are truly sorry that we cannot meet everyone’s expectations on this occasion." So a typical answer-non-answer. I imagine the state of the world is making it difficult to import/export/outsource work or supplies, which I am guessing is the issue. It makes sense, but I understand. I hope everyone who wants one can get one. She is going to be the first fullset I take a chance on after how deeply disappointed I was with Ciel. I'm just too in love with fairies to not at least try. I swear Fairyland is like a toxic boyfriend to me personally. I wanna quit them so bad but I'm so weak something always wins me back lol
I hope everyone who wants the upcoming fairy girl can get one, and the quality control is solid on them. Fortunately for me, all three of my Minifee are well made, without thin resin or rough seam lines. I did gat all of them in-stock from DDE, so that might be a factor.
I finished painted my new girls just in time for a school themed meet-up. I am still so excited Shushu and Woosoo were re-released.
Head size issues too?what is that?? I only very old minifees before ordering these two so I wasn't aware of all the issues. Oh no. I hope I haven't wasted my money. I will stick to better quality brands
I hadn't realized there were widespread issues recently. My Shushu & Woosoo seem fine enough, but I haven't been able to actually get my Eva event head open yet. There's definitely some issues with it, but I can't check inside to verify the extent. Everything I've tried seems to risk damaging it more.
Here are photos I took of my Raven, a Designer Complete purchased from Denver Doll, so a very recent release from this year. Just want to mention that regardless of where the dolls are purchased, whether DenverDoll or from Fairyland, quality control issues have been documented by owners. This photo shows how thin the resin is all around her head. If I turn her head, with the eyes facing me, it's just as thin around the eyes and cheeks. The inside of the head. The walls are extremely thin, they move when I squeeze ever slightly.
Here’s my Phoeb with my Kyma who arrived last week. I’m completely obsessed with Kyma, her full set has such nice details and the resin color is just perfection. (I also love that the Fairyline body is a little shorter than the A-line renewal, she looks so cute and petite next to the others.) I don’t really want to argue, but I feel like I have to say for all the people reading this thread and thinking their doll is going to arrive messed up that I have 8 of these heads and I haven’t had any problems with the resin being weak or squishing. There’s a band of thick resin inside of the headcap that goes inside that piece to reinforce it when the head is closed we are not mentioning. Not everybody likes the new head design, but don’t panic. @misskirara Your girls are adorable! It’s nice seeing Shushu and Woosoo get a renewal! Do they have the new headcap or the old one? My wife just ordered a Marcia and it didn’t even occur to me they might have converted her!
Your kyma is gorgeous! That is worringly thin though especially for a doll that costs almost double what other dolls their size cost. After I get my two, I will go to other brands again. Love the way you styled her!
My last order was the Kyma fullset, I sold off the heads but I did notice them being a bit different but not in a bad way to my Alicia and Dina from 2020/21. The body seems fine, other than the mermaid tail having very limited posing. She’s can’t even sit! Or at least I can’t get her to. The outfit and accessories are beautifully made though, no complaints there. Now hearing about how hot or miss FL has become, I’m not sure about them anymore They are my favorite! But I can’t excuse poor quality for the price. I’ve branched out recently, and dolls half their cost are outperforming them in terms of engineering. I’m hopeful they will bounce back. Maybe by limiting full sets (quantity) they will be able to devote more time to quality.
A band of thick resin is not a replacement for solid sturdy resin and it's not about preference if someone likes or dislikes a design. There is still issue with the entire rest of the head aside from the band. If they fall their faces are at risk of shattering or cracking, which is really hard to wrap my head around - of all the pieces on a doll that shouldn't break that way. I've had about 10 or so of the new caps in MNF/F60 size come through my hands. I could squish just about all of them. Fingers, toes or thinner channel pieces like some shins or something I can understand would move if you squished them. But not a head. Some people report if you squeeze at the right angle you can pop the lip inside the cap to get it to open. But you achieve that by... bending the resin. Not to mention needing to potentially touch the faceup in order to open the cap isn't good. Another angle for the difficulty of opening heads - it's very unfriendly to people with mobility issues in their hands as well and I know of a few older long term FL collectors who are having issues with the change. My partner who lifts couldn't get the cap off of my Ciel when I had her and all the other event heads in two separate orders (including F60) we couldn't open either. I think out of all of them I've had (overall) maybe two that would actually open. Even if most of them were fine and only some of them came difficult to open each batch, that is still a big QC issue. I'm glad Fairyland wants to improve their caps from the loose ones they have historically had, but if anything this design just feels like it was not properly play-tested or something. And as others have said it's not like this is the only criticism of the company - they've had tons of QC issues in the past, some of which people might not be aware of or remember (like the Rens wings debacle, the Miwa issue, the leg bend era, fullset issues often). I've had MOST of my purchases come to me flawlessly! And I've bought almost every MNF fullset. Most of them were fine and I adore my dolls, but the issue still exists. I'm very involved in the FL side of the hobby and I could talk for hours about all of this - my mind is just a big FL archive instead of something useful I know I seem extremely critical and I hope my tone isn't coming across poorly because I'm not trying to start anything. I just value my money spent a lot more than I used to (lol :') ) and I don't think it's okay to put down over 1k on an MSD sized doll that comes to me looking like it's gonna break. I'd like to emphasize that while no one should be panicking, it IS something to be concerned about and just because someone personally hasn't had issues doesn't mean it isn't an issue. No one should be panicking and no one should be rude to Fairyland, but it's a very valid thing to be upset and concerned about if you value not only your money, but the longevity of your art pieces. If you want the new girl, just go for it. Fairyland fullsets are gorgeous and she's going to be so special. EDIT: Her name is Serenia So pretty I could cry!! The announcement is locked on their site but soon we'll see more. I haven't been this excited for a new MNF in forever
I am really excited about the new full set! I don't get many full sets but this one is perfect for me! Those fairy wings! I am just terrified that I won't be able to get it because she is so limited and because of the tariff issue, I will probably need to order from DDE. here in the US. I love DDE. I just don't know how many of these sets they will be able to get. (Please note that I am not objecting to paying tariffs- I know lots of countries have always done this. It's just that often we are finding out that they are being applied at random amounts by shipping companies because they are not sure what they are supposed to do and it is of course ever changing.)
I just wanted to say that I was thinking about this when I received my Raven. My hands aren't very strong and I basically got the headcap off by sheer luck. I have to keep a piece of ribbon between the headcap and the head to prevent it from closing, because I'm worried I'll break the head if I try to take the cap off again. Really bad design. On the positive side, my Kyma's headcap is just right - very easy to snap on and off. So I hope FL will keep the same quality with future heads!
I keep having to remember how to take the new heads apart. I have 2 dolls with new heads and once I remember again, it is much easier - though not simple. I twist it a little and then pull from the bottom first. I do have arthritis pretty badly and you are right, they are definitely harder for people with hand issues!
I tried the ribbon trick with my Ciel and it didn't work, but I tired it with one of the event heads and it did. Definitely shouldn't have to do that, though. I mean, we used to washi tape or tack the loose caps, but that's a much different problem and level of effort than the new ones. I'd washi my caps any day lol. The other issue is the ribbon can create uneven tension on the resin and it's just not good long term. But I'll be doing that until they fix it, so really good advice. Do you put your ribbon front to back or ear to ear? @Dollquest I tried to do that before and it didn't work for me, but I'll try again with the new release and see if it changed. Do you mean the backside opens up first? I'm just now developing arthritis in my hands. they were fine when the cap changes first circulated, but now I'm much more worried than before.
I lift up on the bottom part of the cap (near the neck). That's where my thumb is when I am taking off the head cap. If I don't do this, I get very frustrated and can't get it off at all. And I always forget this at first.
^ This! I have tendonitis in both hands that makes my grip pretty weak especially since a surgery I had to alleviate discomfort for it. I’ve found it’s just a matter of getting my thumb in the right place to pull upward. It’s not coming off if you try and yank it from another angle. Anyway, have a pic of all the Minifee in our house I took the other day while I was rearranging them to try and make them stop blocking each other on the shelf. Half are mine and the other half belong to @sephyelysian.
@Amet Yes! If I don't do it that way, it is nearly impossible and when I finally remember how to pull it, it comes off so easily! Beautiful Display! Is this a Billy cabinet from Ikea? I am planning to buy some of those to house my collection. I am just now trying to decide how many I will need.
@Dollquest Thanks! That’s an old IKEA Hemnes shelf in unfortunately a style they don’t make anymore. I was focused on SDs at the time I bought it and the upper shelf is very tall. Billy is similar but a little less deep, I think. In a perfect world I’d love to have them spread out more, but they really don’t take up that much less space than the big guys even though in my head they seem so much smaller!
Fairyland posted information regarding the Halloween event, starting tomorrow already. The new Minifee will indeed be limited to 80 sets and only the Designer's Complete package will be available this time. I guess I will pass on her then, since Designer's complete is usually too expensive for me. But I'm hoping for lots of lovely owner pictures. And I'm hoping we will finally get to see the Elf Grey resin. Plus they are making the elf head available through a la carte as well. So that might be a future option. @Amet Such a gorgeous collection! Love the witch in the front.
I put mine front to back so the headcap doesn't lock. It's not great, but so far it hasn't fallen off on me, haha. @Amet What an amazing collection!! The blue gown in the front row is a dream
Idk I don’t want another MNF right now but the blue is SO PRETTY in person I might crack. @Amadiel Thanks! That’s my Mirwen, the first Minifee I bought in a long while. Girl has cost me so much money since then acquiring friends! @Athenril Thanks! That’s from Gajaada on Instagram. I’m so sad we can’t get packages from Poland right now so I can’t hit her up for more clothing! She’s so good!
I'm so disappointed that she has kill heel and I'm nervous her wings are attached to her dress (it looks like?), but I ordered her instantly anyway. Will welcome little elf Serenia home soon! I had to get the blank stare head too. I love it xD
@Amet you have a beautiful collection, I love the fantasy themed dolls! How did you get the blue skin for one of your girls?!
I dressed my Minifees in some full sets to kind of celebrate the new event. I won’t be getting her, even though I do think her whole look is beautiful! But I was struggling to get one to stand. I’ve just noticed that her legs are curved. Like her knees looked they are going backward. Especially in the heeled feet, they almost look like deer legs or something. Possibly part of the quality issues? Secondly, I peeped the new event since I woke up and couldn’t fall back asleep. I thought about getting the Serenia A head but I was taken aback by the sticker shock. I’m thinking going forward I might just print out the promo pictures and hang them up lol
I was able to get Serenia Halloween Event from DDE in the wee hours of the morning here on the US East Coast. I don't usually buy full sets but this one is exactly my style! I will be very excited to get her!
DDE sold out and Fairyland's site has 27 left! Just wild I hope everyone who wanted her was able to snag her! What skin tone did everyone get?
I got NS. I usually like tan but in this case, I think the lighter tone goes with the "spirit" motif as well as the light blue and white colors.
My thoughts too! And I got normal skin too. She looks so much like old style fairy art to me that I thought normal would be the best option.
